The 21-year-old reigning MotoGP World Champion won the French Grand Prix with a comfortable margin ahead of former champion Valentino Rossi (Yamaha), despite running off the track on the first lap, which forced him to fight back from tenth place. Alvaro Bautista (Team GO&FUN Honda Gresini RC213V) made it two Hondas on the podium with a storming ride to third that helped erase memories of a difficult start to his season. Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC213V) and Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda RC213V) – both recovering from post-Jerez surgery to fix arm-pump problems – finished in fifth and sixth ...
"Motorcycling - Lorenzo tips Crutchlow to win soon MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo has backed Briton Cal Crutchlow to claim his maiden top-flight win this season. Crutchlow has taken two podium positions so far in 2013, including a career-best second at Le Mans, and Lorenzo reckons the Tech 3 rider has what it takes to stand on the top step. "He can win," Lorenzo told AUTOSPORT. "He has the potential and a good bike to do it. He has improved from last year. Every year, he's faster and faster." This year every MotoGP race has been won by a Spanish rider - either Lorenzo or Honda team-mates Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez – but Lorenzo admits it is important for the series that riders of other nationalities enjoy some success. "Everyone likes Cal. The promise of Cal is very important for English riders to fight for victories and for podiums so I am happy for him. "There are too many Spanish riders. I would like to have more different riders from different countries. They are coming, with plenty of rider ...
By mounting the podium in Mugello, Cal Crutchlow is the first Brit to have secured two consecutive podiums in the top category, since Ron Haslam in 1987. That really shows the importance of his performance: he indeed clinched a splendid third place following the second place bagged in Le Mans two weeks earlier, for team Tech3 supported by Motul. Cal pulled off a faultless performance, quickly seizing fourth position and staying close to the three leaders, Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez. His stunning charge then paid off when Marquez tumbled out of second just as he himself was sizing up an attack on Pedrosa. He subsequently kept his lead over his contenders, Stefan Bradl and his former team-mate at Tech3, Andrea Dovizioso. Meanwhile, Bradley Smith managed to finish ninth-placed, despite two falls, first in the trials and then in the warm-up. Nevertheless, the 22 year old rider showed amazing determination to bounce back from his injuries.   'I have to pay a big tribute to the entire Tech ...

Dani Pedrosa won today’s French Grand Prix to break past 3000 career points in the World Championship, adding 25 to his tally with his latest victory. The Repsol Honda rider had an extraordinary race at the historic Le Mans circuit, tackling a tricky track that had been made slippery by rainfall minutes before the start. He was joined on the podium by Cal Crutchlow and Marc Márquez, who made a spectacular comeback from ninth place to finish third. Starting from sixth position on a cold, wet track, Dani Pedrosa overtook three riders off the start and pegged onto Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo. He was able to get past them on the opening laps, but had to make another move on Dovizioso later on when he had a couple of scares to let the Italian through. After making his definitive pass, he crossed the finish line more than 4 seconds ahead of second-placed Crutchlow. The Briton reached the chequered flag just ahead of Marc Marquez, who was unable to use the pole position start to his advantage. The Reps ...
Jorge Lorenzo was annoyed with himself following Sunday’s Gran Premio bwin de España in Jerez, having clashed with Marc Marquez at the final corner. After losing the lead to Repsol Honda Team’s Dani Pedrosa in the early stages, Lorenzo held second place for the whole race with the exception of a minor swap with Marquez. That was until the last corner - now ironically named after the reigning World Champion - where the 2013 rookie dived through, making contact. "I was second all race and lost it at the last corner," Yamaha Factory Racing’s Lorenzo explained to motogp.com in an exclusive video interview. "Anyway, our bike was not very competitive compared to the Hondas. I think we did a good job and the team did a good job to make the perfect Yamaha for today. "I had a very consistent race, just making two mistakes: I started very badly and didn’t close the door enough at the last corner. "Le Mans is quite similar to Jerez, also with a lot of chicanes and corners, so in theory it’s a good track fo ...

MotoGP news Crash.net viewers gave MotoGP an average score of 5.6 out of 10 for entertainment during the 2012 season. Polls were set-up after the races, asking viewers to: "Tell us exactly how entertaining you, the watching fans, thought it was by awarding a mark out of 10." A score of 1 meant a 'dull' race and 10 'fantastic'. The most entertaining Grand Prix was deemed to be the wet French Grand Prix at Le Mans (pictured), no doubt helped by the late battle for second between Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner, which scored an average of 8.4 out of 10. The next best was the Czech Republic Grand Prix at Brno, which produced a last turn victory showdown between title rivals Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa, and an average vote of 7.5. The most tedious was deemed to be the Indianapolis Grand Prix, which saw a ten-second victory for Pedrosa after an early engine failure for home star Ben Spies. The average score awarded was 3.0 out of 10. Next dullest was the Portuguese Grand Prix at Estoril, where Stoner took a ...

Got up early to watch 2012 MotoGP round 4: Le Mans. After watching the Qualifying, did not expect an exciting race. Oops.. Jorge Lorenzo had the perfect plan, get in front early... stay there. Worked like a charm. But the real drama was for second, third, forth and fifth. Casey Stoner battled up to second and that looked solid. Until the last lap when Valentino Rossi became a factor. They swapped places again and again. Rossi may have been having problems taming the less powerful Ducati but the less explosive power makes it an excellent wet track bike. He finally passes Stoner for his good on the last lap for his best finish in two years. All of this occurred on a tight treacherous track in a driving rain. This is going to be one of the best seasons in memory... On to Catalunya.
