MH17: Was Led into a Doomed Flight Path A Malaysian Airlines spokesman has already confirmed that, for some unknown reason, Kiev-based Ukrainian Air Traffic Control (ATC) ordered MH17 off of its original flight path along the international air route, known asL980. Most likely, this order was given to pilots while MH17 was still in Polish air space. L980 is one of the most popular and most congested air routes in the world, as well as a key link between major international hubs in Europe, like London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schiphol, and Frankfurt, and Asian destinations, like Singapore, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. As MH17 moved into Ukrainian air space, it was moved approximately 300 miles north of its usual route - putting it on a new course, flying directly over a war zone – a dangerous area that’s hosted a number of downed military craft over the previous 3 weeks. It is confirmed that most Malaysia Airlines flights from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur would normally travel along a route significantly ...

PRABOWO MAY WIN !! Prabowo was born in 1951 to an elite family that traces its lineage back to Java's sultans. When he was seven, his father, Dutch-educated economist Sumitro Djojohadikusumo, was exiled by Indonesia's founding president, Sukarno, for collaborating with the CIA in an attempted coup. For a decade – Prabowo's formative years – the family shifted from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, London and Zurich. When they returned under the new president, Suharto, in 1968, Prabowo was 17. He spoke fluent English, but had to apply himself to relearn his own language. "His political philosophy from the 1990s … to the present consists of essentially a single point," says academic John Roosa, from the University of British Columbia in Canada. "INDONESIA NEEDS A STRONG LEADER." It resonates with many Indonesians, but deeply worries those who remember Indonesia's repressive past. Australian National University academic Ed Aspinall fears Prabowo poses "a significant threat of a reversal towards aut ...

Part V: War story R&R In Part IV there was some description of Vung Tau and its American in-country R&R compound. R&R stood for Rest and Relaxation. There were other names and combinations, but there’s no telling who might read this. For a year’s tour in South Vietnam, whether in the combat arms on the front lines where the fighting was or well behind the wire where the main concern was the capacity of the clubs’ refrigerators, every soldier was given a week’s vacation in a choice of Pacific cities including Sydney, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, and even Honolulu in the good ol’ USA. The run to Hawaii usually was for the benefit of girlfriends and wives, while the single men had a hard time deciding among the other destinations. They all were selling the same thing. In my case a trip to Sydney sounded best. As a teenager I was a serious tennis player, and anything Australian always had a positive ring for a tennis player, sort of like Canada and hockey, Alabama and football, Ke ...

Tuesday, 14 May, 2013 RESIDENTIAL MARKET Curbs hit Singapore, HK luxury home markets Recent policies by the Singapore and Hong Kong governments to cool the growth of property prices in the first quarter of the year appear to have taken a toll on their luxury home markets. A report on the luxury residential market in the Asia Pacific for Q1 of 2013 showed that out of nine markets that it monitors, only Singapore and Hong Kong saw prices fall from the previous quarter. Average capital values for Singapore high-end homes fell 0.6 per cent while those for Hong Kong fell 1.1 per cent. This compares with the 8.7 per cent gain by similar Jakarta properties and the 6 per cent growth for Kuala Lumpur luxury homes. The declines were attributed to measures put in place to curb strong price growth. Hong Kong imposed higher stamp duties and home loan curbs on property transactions in February. In Singapore, a seventh round of cooling measures since September 2009 was introduced in January that included higher addition ...

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 — Iskandar Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur and Penang are set to become hotspots for foreign property investors as the Hong Kong and Singapore governments “cool” their respective overheated property industries. Malaysia has become a preferred country for foreign property investors and is now the main focus after Hong Kong and Singapore imposed 15 per cent levies to slow down foreign investments that had overheated their property markets. These “cooling” measures have shifted some of the surging demand for residential and other properties to Malaysia, including a Malaysian-Singapore joint-venture iconic wellness project to be launched in Iskandar Malaysia later today. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong will be accompanied by the largest gathering of Cabinet ministers from both side of the Causeway for the wellness project launch, according to officials involved in the venture. Hoping that I can post an inspiration success story of our proud nations billionaire.     MALAYSIAN Billionaire tycoon Lim Goh Tong has died at the age of 90, following a short illness, leaving an estimated US$4.3 billion (S$6.2 billion) fortune.     The tycoon handed over the running of an empire with interests in property, power generation, plantations, paper manufacturing and information technology.   Genting's Hong Kong-listed subsidiary, Star Cruises, is the third-largest cruise operator in the world, while the group also controls Britain's biggest casino operator Stanley Leisure.     But Tan Sri Lim, one of Malaysia's wealthiest businessmen, is best known for turning Genting Highlands, a hill outcrop just outside the capital Kuala Lumpur, into one of the world's most profitable casino resorts.     And to his admirers, he was more than just a developer, personifying the clutch of overseas Chinese business entrepreneurs who fled hardship in their homeland to build the corporate empires that p ...

As a youngster I spent Saturday evenings glued to a small black and white TV watching ‘Adventures in Paradise’. Adam Troy was an American Korean War veteran who stayed in the Pacific after the war. As captain of the schooner "Tiki III", Troy drifted from adventure to adventure while carrying passengers and cargo anywhere from Hong Kong to Pitcairn Island. Central to the story was French Polynesia and the tropical island of Bora Bora. I decided all those years ago that one day I would visit Bora Bora; my first destination on what would now be called a ‘Bucket List’. On the 27th February Jenny and I will step ashore on the island from the ship Paul Gauguin out of Tahiti. En route a stopover in Kuala Lumpur and a two week road trip along the Great Ocean Road in Australia with great friends. The taxi to the airport arrives in an hour! Live your dreams – the clock is ticking!

The telecoms tower in Kuala Lumpur and the highest building in the world show how stupid you are. Not only does it cause massive traffic jam, it has totally no purpose. If you need high gro ...
