Baseball Phil Rogers Baseball America’s Jim Callis still sees the Cubs and Astros going for college pitchers at the top of tonight's draft. In a mock draft posted today, Callis calls for the Astros to take Oklahoma right-hander Jonathan Gray with the first pick and the Cubs taking Stanford right-hander Mark Appel with the second pick. Callis writes that the Astros “may have’’ a slight preference for Appel over Gray but won’t take Appel if they aren’t convinced they can sign him at their price. Scott Boras is Appel’s advisor and he’s unlikely to offer a bargain, especially with the Cubs lined up right behind the Astros.
