Khyber (Urdu: خیبر) is a tribal area in the FATA region of Pakistan. It is one of the eight tribal areas, better known as agencies in Pakistan. The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) are a semi-autonomous tribal region in northwestern Pakistan, bordering Pakistan's provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to the east and south, and Afghanistan's provinces of Kunar, Nangarhar, Paktia, Khost and Paktika to the west and north. 2.3/5

Polio Headlines this week as of 12 November 2014 • In Madagascar, a circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 1 (cVDPV1) has been confirmed. The virus was isolated from one case of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) with onset of paralysis on 29 September, and from three healthy contacts. An estimated more than 25% of children remain under-immunized against polio in the country. Madagascar was previously affected by a cVDPV2 outbreak in 2001/2002 (resulting in five cases) and in 2005 (resulting in three cases). Emergency outbreak response is being finalized, with campaigns to be held in December and January. • It has been two years since the last case due to wild poliovirus type 3 (WPV3) was reported. WPV3 was last detected globally on 10 November 2012, in Yobe, Nigeria. In Asia, the last WPV3 was detected in April 2012, in Khyber Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Pakistan. State broadcaster PTV News will broadcast the first in a new series of programs on reforms and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on Saturday evening. Continuing every Saturday and Sunday at 6:00pm, the first talk show will focus on the ongoing IDP crisis in North Waziristan, highlighting the rights of displaced persons in the context of future reform for FATA. Program guests include member of the Political Parties Joint Committee on FATA Reforms Asad Afridi (QWP) from Khyber Agency, Rakhshinda Naz of the Aurat Foundation, and Malik Ghulam Muhammad from North Waziristan Agency who is currently displaced from his home in the tribal areas. 2:afridi The Afridi (Pashto: اپريدی Apriday, plur. اپريدي Afridi; Urdu: آفریدی) is a Karlanri Pashtun tribe present in Pakistan, with substantial numbers in Afghanistan. The Afridis are most dominant in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas, inhabiting about 1,000 square miles (3,000 km²) of rough hilly area in the eastern Spin Ghar range west of Peshawar, covering most of Khyber Agency, FR Peshawar and FR Kohat.[2] Their territory includes the Khyber Pass and Maidan in Tirahin Kurram agency .
