Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars. - Khalil Gibran
So this is where all the vapid talk about the 'soul' of the universe is actually headed. Once the hard-won principles of reason and science have been discredited, the world will not pass into the hands of credulous herbivores who keep crystals by their sides and swoon over the poems of Khalil Gibran. The 'vacuum' will be invaded instead by determined fundamentalists of every stripe who already know the truth by means of revelation and who actually seek real and serious power in the here and now. One thinks of the painstaking, cloud-dispelling labor of British scientists from Isaac Newton to Joseph Priestley to Charles Darwin to Ernest Rutherford to Alan Turing and Francis Crick, much of it built upon the shoulders of Galileo and Copernicus, only to see it casually slandered by a moral and intellectual weakling from the usurping House of Hanover. An awful embarrassment awaits the British if they do not declare for a republic based on verifiable laws and principles, both political and scientific.
The strong grows in solitude where the weak withers away. ~ Khalil Gibran
We all stumble along on the crutches of cliche.Yet we wait and hope for insight to freshen us and bring healing.Zen koans and Christian parables are there as pegs in the mountain to help us to grab a strawberry of the moment as we fall or help us to consider the lily of humility a little dandelion seed floating past like a butterfly. So hard to put the title on the book .Too limiting and so difficult to take up a position on stage or altar let alone pulpit.Dylan put it 'I'd forever talk to you but soon my words would turn into meaningless rhyme' and added somewhere else 'I become my enemy in the moment that I preach.' Jesus in seeking to burst through complacency with the tender eloquence of Khalil Gibran sought to challenge the cliche of religion .i.e 'pride'.if there is one thing that makes the loveliness of GRACE and the 'gift' of giving' forgiving' love: AGAPE it is pride Why does Gandhi not choose to belong to the word Christian whilst humbly exemplifying powerfully the Samaritan outsider that Jesus . ...

prophet Khalil Gibran states “Your sorrow is your joy unmasked… How else can it be? The deeper the sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.” I realise great sadness also provides an opportunity for greater happiness, and one is simply the flip side of the other.

Shakur was a voracious reader. He was inspired by a wide variety of writers, including William Shakespeare, Niccolò Machiavelli, Donald Goines, Sun Tzu, Kurt Vonnegut, Mikhail Bakunin, Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, and Khalil Gibran. Shakur never professed following a particular religion, but his lyrics in singles such as 'Only God Can Judge Me' and poems such as The Rose That Grew from Concrete suggest he believed in God. This means many analysts currently describe him as a deist. He believed in Karma, but rejected a literal afterlife and organized religion. Hi everyone, let's play this game here: Write your favourable quote on giving (quote the original speaker) in the following format: with Mother Theresa: If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one. with Khalil Gibran: You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
An adaptation of my favorite poem, On Love by Khalil Gibran Love beckoned to me, and I followed. I yielded to his wings that they would engulf me. I believed him when he spoke to me. He crowned me and later crucified me. I have been assigned to his sacred fire so that I could become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast. I have laughed and I have wept. I am in the heart of God now. Love found me worthy and directed my course. I melted and became like a running brook and sang my melody to the night. I have come to know the pain of too much tenderness, I have been wounded by my own understanding of love and I now bleed willingly and joyfully. Yet, I awaken at dawn with a winged heart and I give thanks for another day of loving.

Then I left him, not knowing whether he had complimented or belittled me. A year passed, during which the scarecrow turned philosopher. My body is downtown at work this morning but my soul is still soaring in wonderment over the weekend, when it felt like I was intimately woven into the lines of a lyrical poem written by Life celebrating various aspects of Love. Friday night was one of my beloved's and my anniversaries and so the evening was given over to a joyful and passionate celebration of the love that exists between a man and a woman. Saturday night fused so many loves together --- singing, community and coming together for a beautiful cause. There were eight of us in the ensemble and we sang Sweet Honey in the Rock's "On Children", which is magical not only for its tight acapella harmonies but also for the soulful lyrics that were taken from Khalil Gibran's section on children in "The Prophet." Our individual voices sounded like sweet streams merging into a mighty river and the African drums that accompanied us made the flow even more powerful. As if that weren't enough, I got to share a mic with my beloved sista/friend, Nail ...

Song of Fortune VI by Khalil Gibran Sunset Love Man and I are sweethearts He craves me and I long for him, But alas! Between us has appeared A rival who brings us misery. She is cruel and demanding, Possessing empty lure. Her name is Substance. She follows wherever we go And watches like a sentinel, bringing Restlessness to my lover. I ask for my beloved in the forest, Under the trees, by the lakes. I cannot find him, for Substance Has spirited him to the clamorous City and placed him on the throne Of quaking, metal riches. I call for him with the voice of Knowledge and the song of Wisdom. He does not hearken, for Substance Has enticed him into the dungeon Of selfishness, where avarice dwells. I seek him in the field of Contentment, But I am alone, for my rival has Imprisoned him in the cave of gluttony And greed, and locked him there With painful chains of gold.
