Unbelievable. made me watch that entire Kenneth Branagh as Abe Lincoln thing and then fast forwarded past James Bond.
Watching Olympic opening ceremony: Hobbitown with Kenneth Branagh as Charles Dickens chewing up the scenery then awesome james bond queen sketch then very odd scary nightmares at the hospital then hilarious Rowan Atkinson now this pretty dumb scenario with the music of modern Britain.. What's next I wonder
Saw WKU's Claire Donahue qualify and Michael Phelps. Watched opening ceremonies with Kenneth Branagh who thinks he is William Shakespeare. James Bond scene was cute, but there is no way the Queen of England would be allowed to jump out of a helicopter. Lilly and Celia think she actually did.
Enjoyed the Olympic Ceremony!! So enjoyed the part with James Bond and the Queen! Also, enjoyed the part of Kenneth Branagh doing his Shakespeare!
The london olympics opening ceremony was fantastic from seeing kenneth branagh,to Mr bean and my favourite was the queen and james bond jumping out of the helicopter that was fantastic thumbs up to the british
Loved the opening ceremonies! Highlights-- Paul McCartney and Hey Jude, James Bond and the Queen (and the Corgis), Muhammad Ali (well, he's American, but so ecumenical of them), kids lighting the torch, Kenneth Branagh and the Tempest, all that cool Brit music, the National Health Service for God's sake (I mean, in your face USA), Voldemort, Mary Poppins. One thing missing--Maggie Smith and Downton Abbey.
Kenneth Branagh, the QUEEN and James Bond, Mr. Bean, "Hey Jude" and that stunning cauldron. Best. Opening. Ceremony. EVER.
The Olympics opening ceremony: wonderful children choirs' performance, Kenneth Branagh's reading of Shakespeare, the Industrial Revolution forming the Olympic rings, the Queen parachuting out of a helicopter with James Bond, Mr. Bean in the orchestra, the lighting of the Olympic torch, the fireworks, and Paul McCartney. Needless to say, it was pretty *** good.
There's a lot to love about the London opening ceremonies. From the acknowledgement of industrial labor to the Queen parachuting in with James Bond (what a sport!), from Kenneth Branagh performing lines from the Tempest to the terminally shy J.K. Rowling's intro (again, what a sport!), from the 100 ft. high Voldemort (awesome!) to the parachuting in Mary Poppins', from the celebration of the NHS (yes!) and children's stories to Rowan Atkinson's hilarious Chariots of Fire routine (which my kids adored) -- it was so charming. Fascinating how amateur the performances are -- thousands of volunteer laborers in the early sequence, and those were real doctors and nurses dancing in the NHS routine. And that child singing -- what a voice! Amateur excellence, perfect for the Olympics, and an interesting counterpoint to the Chinese virtuoso brilliance in their opening ceremonies. I will save my critique (and there is some) for a crankier moment. :-)
The London Olympics burst into life on Friday with a humour-filled opening ceremony watched by 80,000 spectators and more than one billion TV viewers.Queen Elizabeth II and James Bond, alias actor Daniel Craig, were shown in a spoof film parachuting from a helicopter into the Olympic Stadium in east London before the real monarch took her seat to loud applause. After seven years of planning, the Games officially began in the gleaming new stadium in a once rundown area of the British capital with a colourful show devised by "Slumdog Millionaire" director Danny Boyle. The ceremony kept Boyle's promise to showcase British history with a dash of quirky humour, tracing time from a bucolic past through the Industrial Revolution before fast-forwarding to the present day.The show even included a tribute to Britain's state-run National Health Service while actor Kenneth Branagh, "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling and "Mr Bean" Rowan Atkinson all had roles.More than 80 world leaders and royals attended the ceremony w ...
I didn't understand anything in the Beijing Opening - at least I know English history, the Industrial Revolution, childrens' literature, the Brits Health Care Service and Monty Python! I know the royals, Kenneth Branagh, JK Rawlings, Rowan Atkinson, "James Bond", "Chariots of Fire", the London Symphony...
This is the best Olympic opening ceremony ever! It has everything - Blake's "Jerusalem," Kenneth Branagh, that spectacular Welsh children's choir singing "Cwm Rhondda," James Bond, HM The Queen, the NHS, all those great "baddies" from kid lit - Hook, Voldemort, etc., Mary Poppins... Take that, Beijing!
James Bond - The Man With the Golden Gun read by Kenneth Branagh will be released by AudioGo in September. For more info, like:
