A Dangerous Method. A movie with a fascinating insight into psychoanalysis brought to the fore by Sigmund Freud, his friendship and eventual conflict with Carl Jung. Stellar performances by V. Mortensen, M. Fassbender and Keira Knightley. A must see!
Last night I watched a film called "A Dangerous Method" on pay-per-view, a mostly true (but highly condensed) version of the relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud, and the development of Jung's theories of psychology. Despite a truly bizarre performance from Keira Knightley as a neurotic masochist, whom Jung eventually "cures" and takes as his mistress, I was struck enough by curiosity about Jung to have spent the last half hour or so reading about Individuation, i.e., the process by which Jung believed that a person becomes whole, and which involves an active (often difficult) dialogue between the unconscious ("Self") and unconscious "Ego") minds: fascinating stuff, which made me wonder to what degree I've become "individuated." Lots, I hope.

Seduced by the challenge of an impossible case, the driven Dr. Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) takes the unbalanced yet beautiful Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley) as his patient in A Dangerous Method. Jung's weapon is the method of his master, the renowned Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen). Both men...
Watching a movie about Sigmund Freud & Carl Jung, with Keira Knightley & Michael Fassbender. Must be good - previews are all award-winners.
The only time I'll watch Keira Knightley is when she makes movies abt Carl Jung. A Dangerous Method just dropped on iTunes! I'm all over it.
