Kashmir: Shah may quit Hurriyat: A storm of sorts has hit the separatist camp in Kashmir with a senior leader publicly accusing colleagues in the movement of building "palaces over the graves of martyrs", a statement seen as laying bare the rift in the ranks. Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik walked out of a seminar in Kashmir University earlier this week after he was reportedly told by some separatist leaders not to speak about the separatist movement during the function. Malik later issued a statement saying some separatist leaders had become rich because they had built "palaces over the graves of martyrs". While Malik's statement has ruffled many a feather in the separatist camp, another senior leader, Shabir Ahmad Shah, is believed to be on the verge of leaving the moderate Hurriyat group headed by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. Mirwaiz aide snubs Malik, says he believes in 'I, me and myself politics' A day after Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Mohammad Yasin Malik accused the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq's Hurriyat Conference of being hypocrites', a group headed by a close aide of the Mirwaiz rebuked him. The Anjuman-e-Sharia Shian *** headed by Agha Syed Hassan Mooosvi termed Malik's statement as "extremely irresponsible and devoid of political maturity". The party spokesperson said Malik's remarks go on to "prove that he believes in I me and myself politics". The spokesman said the JKLF Chairman could not opine his views during the seminar organised at Kashmir University to observe the 24th death anniversary of Imam Khomeini (RA) due to shortage of time. "It was not only Malik, but senior intellectuals and ulemmas like Khurshid Ahmad Qanungo, Dr Yousuf Al-Ummar, Agha Syed Hassan Naqi, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, and Prof Hameeda Nayeem, also could not speak on the occasion due to paucity of time," he said. He declared Mirwaiz Umar as a traitor and joined Geealani sahib but after only few months repented and returned to Mirwaiz camp,” JKLF district President Budgam Gulzar Ahmad Pahalwan said in a statement issued here today.
