Karl Rove & Citizens United

Karl Christian Rove (born December 25, 1950) is an American political consultant and policy advisor. He was Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff during the George W. Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 U.S. ––––, 130 S.Ct. 876 (January 21, 2010), was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court, which held that the First Amendment prohibited the government from restricting independent political expenditures by corporations and unions. 5.0/5

According to the New York Times, in 2012 one special interest network “raised $407 million, which was secreted among 17 groups with cryptic names and purposes that were designed to make it impossible to figure out the names of donors.” Now in Montana, we know that words like “secret” and “cryptic” should never describe our campaign finance system. Transparent. Accountable. Open. Those would work much better. But thanks to Citizens United, Special Interest Groups spending hundreds of millions of dollars is the new normal. Our network is still working to fight against these outside interests, and we need to keep on growing. Before January is over, we need to raise $5,000. That only give us about 14 hours. Can you give $5 or more today to help us reach that goal? These outside groups just keep on spending. Just like they did in Montana in 2012. And there’s no end in sight. Karl Rove and his special interest friends are going to milk Citizens United for all it’s worth -- just to get candidates ...
You know what Karl Rove would love to get as a holiday gift next year? Control of the U.S. Senate in the hands of his allies. That’s not something you can wrap up in a box and put a bow on. But as long as Citizens United is the law of the land, Rove and his special interest pals will be spending millions to try and buy elections. And taking control of the Senate is on the top of their priority list. Our job didn’t end on election night in 2012. The special interests are still working against us -- and against our advocacy to protect traditional Medicare, create middle-class jobs, and support women and families.
Barf. "UPSTART GROUPS CHALLENGE ROVE FOR G.O.P. CASH: A quiet but intense struggle over money and influence is roiling the Republican Party just as the 2014 election season is getting underway. At least a dozen “super PACs” are setting up to back individual Republican candidates for the United States Senate, challenging the strategic and financial dominance that Karl Rove and the group he co-founded, American Crossroads, have enjoyed ever since the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision in 2010 cleared the way for unlimited independent spending." -- LBN Alert
I had a thought this morning, when a sour grapesy ad for John Connolly came on, accusing “powerful special interests” of not wanting him to be Mayor. My thought was boo hoo. Powerful special interests? Like 49% of women, 48% of people of color, and a two to one lead for Marty Walsh among people who make less than $50,000 a year? Like most of us, in other words? I can’t help think that this is a hint of what the old, white establishment (and most Republicans) now faces. They thought that Citizens United was going to be the key to letting their huge bankrollers buy them elections. That HUGE money was going to trump the tiny contributions that people who live paycheck to paycheck can give. (To my dying day I’m going to remember the bewildered confusion on Karl Rove’s face upon learning that Mitt Romney did not win!) Guess what? We can make PACs, too. If this is how the game is currently played, we’ll play it, too. At least until we can get enough people elected to overturn Citizen’s United and ...
Thanks to Kathy Borey: WHITE MALE squared. Social Conscience elected Barack Obama for President in 2008. In punishment for that election, America's middle- and lower-class citizens have had their aspirations beaten into a corner by non-stop agressive blows of greedy desperate manipulative men. Men who, without regard to rules or boundaries, are determined in their goal for achieving exclusive political and corporate controlling rights to the complete extreme exploitation of human and natural resources. Men like these are blatantly obvious in their willingness to defeat the unified strength of Social Conscience. At all costs, they spared no expense in creating a monster called Citizens United. It would do their bidding of bribing and cheating; conveniently along with the power yielded by The Monster came the complementary ownership of the GOP. But the GOP is imploding. Old doughy white conservative elitists such as Karl Rove, Grover Norquist and the Koch Brothers are soon to realize that they've lost their ...
"A totally unknown group was the largest sugar daddy for...groups in the last election." -- Politico, 9/2013 We know all about the new reality of elections post-Citizens United. Outside interest groups, run by guys like Karl Rove, spent more than $12 million against me. Turns out that was just a drop in the bucket. Recently, a report in Politico uncovered a right-wing special interest "secret bank" -- a group that collected more than $260 million and doled it out to other Special Interest Groups to spend on attacks and influence. There's no 'secret bank' for Montana's farmers or ranchers, seniors or veterans, students or small business owners. They've got us. And we need to make sure our grassroots network is as strong as ever. The FEC deadline is coming up fast. Help us hit our $5,000 goal. Give $5 or more today. Montanans value transparency and accountability. We believe that when you stand for something, you don't hide behind some secret group or IRS loophole -- you stand up and say what you mean, and ...
Sen. Durbin points out why the IRS might want to investigate "dark $$" political groups: because of Citizens United, AND because Karl Rove openly boasted about using his tax-exempt group to fundraise for political candidates. Hopefully this is the last we'll hear of this non-troversy. ~Cyn
Outside groups, backed by right-wing demagogues like Karl Rove and the Koch Brothers, spent more than $1.1 billion to buy elections in 2012 alone. It’s unacceptable — and Ed is fighting to stop it. He needs your help. Stand with Ed to reverse Citizens United!
Keep your eye on the big scandal. Although the IRS was wrong to target conservative groups for review based on their names, the bigger wrong was its failure to investigate the major groups -- such as Karl Rove's Grossroads GPS and Priorities USA -- that falsely claimed to be "social welfare organizations" under 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code in order to hide the names of their donors. And the real scandal of the 2012 election (which will be even worse next year, because they got away with it) is how many corporations and wealthy individuals used this loophole to disguise their identities while pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into campaigns. The Supreme Court in "Citizens United" at least assumed full disclosure, but the "social welfare organization" loophole in the tax laws has allowed corporations to keep political spending secret even from their own shareholders. The worst outcome of the indignation over the IRS's targeting of conservative groups would be for the under-manned IRS to pull ...
As you know BO started a new "slush fund", like Karl Rove and sooo many of the far right have done. A little twist to this one-if you donate or raise $500,000 or more, you get to attend a quarterly "update session" with the Pres. I don't like this. It appears like a person can "buy" the President's ear. I don't like that at all. He needs to raise lots of $$$. I understand that--after the Citizens United decission by the Supreme Court, but this approach just wrong.
Mr. Karl Rove, if you are truly interested in seeing a Republican once again seated in the Oval Office I would suggest you engage the following rhetoric within the party’s platform: One, admit that the Reagan “Trickle Down” economic theory be put to bed and never tried again as a fiscal policy. Two; declare a Peace Treaty with women and minorities by passing the Violence against Women Act and demand that Congress pass the Dream Act. Three, focus on jobs and enact a policy end tax deductions for companies moving jobs overseas. Four, overturn the Citizens United ruling allowing undisclosed contributions to political candidates from PAC’s and other sources. Five, firmly establish the right of every citizen to vote un-impeded by local rules. Six, bring our troops home immediately. Seven, offer all necessary medical care for our veterans. Eight, state firmly that Social Security and Medicare are not to be touched, ever. Nine, demand a complete separation of church and state. Tenth, and last, demand tha ...
CITIZENS UNITED V. FEC: THE AFTERMATH There was another anniversary this week of crucial importance to United States citizens and our electoral processes. The Supreme Court decided Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission on January 21, 2010. THE DECISION The decision in the Citizens United case allowed vicious, anti-personal negative campaigning to rise to a whole new level – or, more accurately, to sink to wholly new depths. Effectively equating freedom of speech with ability to spend money, Citizens United opened the way for “Super PACs” (officially “independent-expenditure only committees") and through them undisclosed mega-donors, to infuse vast amounts of funds into federal races. Super PACs tend to have high-sounding names, often disguising funding sources and/or political agendas: Americans for Prosperity (backed by billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch), Crossroads America (managed by Bush 43 mastermind Karl Rove), Freedomworks for America (aligned with the Tea Party), Pr ...
Dear Silvie: There's a birthday coming up on January 21st. You may not know about it, but it's a pretty big one. And no, it's not mine (that's not for another 10 months). January 21st marks the 3rd birthday of Citizens United, the Supreme Court ruling that let an unprecedented amount of special interest cash in our elections. I'm sure Karl Rove and the Kochs will be celebrating. Their ability to buy influence in elections is still going strong -- and it's our democracy that pays the price. But I have an idea to rain on their parade. This year, I'm joining forces with Sens. Franken, Begich, Tester, Baucus, and Udall to reaffirm our support to overturn Citizens United. Reaffirm your opposition to outside spending in our elections -- sign the petition to oppose Citizens United today! In the three short years that Citizens United has been around, outside spending in elections has skyrocketed. Outside groups spent $1.1 billion -- you read that right, billion -- in the 2012 election alone. Corporations shouldn' ...
Quote from a Public Citizen email: Big Money matters more than ever. No serious person thinks money alone determines elections, but nor should anyone think it doesn’t matter. Two election cycles into the post-Citizens United era, we’re just beginning to see how much it matters. - In the 2010 midterm elections, 75 congressional seats switched from Democrat to Republican or vice versa. Outside groups, led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Karl Rove’s Crossroads operations, spent more on the eventual winner in 4 out of 5 of those races. That’s not coincidence. - The Democrats — led by a president with unprecedented fundraising capacity — spent almost as much in 2012 as did the GOP and its outside backers (such as Karl Rove, Sheldon Adelson and the Koch Brothers). While Democrats prevailed in many Senate races and the presidency, we may never again see a presidential candidate from either party who can match Barack Obama’s base of small donors, so future candidates will be that much more behol ...
We as a Nation must over turn Citizens United: We must stop letting Corporations and the Greed fuel and buy our officials: Corporations must start investing in their employees and not in the Caymen Islands: We must restore Moral and Humane treatment of the American People: Stop all political fund raising and let the Networks run the debates for all canidates: Stop with all the wasted campaign monies going for ads let the people hold and confront and vet Candiates not the likes of any party or Karl Rove and Grover etc: This is will restore America to the People and for the People not the influence of Money Laundering by Greed: TY My Blast for today!!
This past election cycle gave us much insight on how Citizens United affects races on the national, state and local levels. Despite the defeat of the Karl Rove - Koch Bros. Super PAC's on the national level, it still had a chilling effect on state and local races. There's still much work to be done in the way of campaign reform and getting the money out of politics. Join us and help us in removing one element by rejecting Citizens United across Georgia.
Karl Rove has a lot of 'splaining to do. The world watched on Tuesday night as Rove desperately tried to deny the math showing President Obama won re-election. That's because he knows he'll have to answer to the millionaires and billionaires he took $300 million from, and to whom he guaranteed a victory for Romney. Rove continued his "explanation tour" in a recently published op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, blaming Obama's re-election on everything from Hurricane Sandy, to New York Times editors, to hotel employees who may have filmed Romney's infamous 47% comments. The one person he didn't blame in the op-ed was himself. Rove thought he could buy the election this year, but, ultimately, organized people overcame organized money. We should all be proud of this – AND acknowledge that when election time comes around again – Rove and the oligarchs will try even harder and spend even more to win one for the billionaires. Which is why we should amend the Constitution to reverse Citizens United. Movetoam ...
The biggest failure of the (supposedly) rigged game was Karl Rove. After having shoehorned Bush into the Presidency twice, only to make him the most discredited political figure since Nixon, he thought that his many “reforms” would make public opinion (not to mention performance in office) irrelevant, and not for nothing. Bush had packed the courts, Citizens United was in the can, gerrymandered districts gave way to more of them, and the Dark Money was rolling in faster than he could take his 10% cut. What could possibly go wrong? :-)
DIRTY, SEXY MONEY! In our first full Election season since Citizens United, we saw hundreds of millions of dollars worth of negative ads that for the most part failed to accomplish their objective. Karl Rove has the unenviable task of going back to his donors at American Crossroads to say they got a 1% return on their investment. Sheldon Adelson got nothing back after supporting first Newt Gingrich and then Mitt Romney to the tune of an estimated combined $34 Million. The Koch Brothers? Their money is so intertwined in dark places that we will never know what their money bought, I somehow suspect it wasn’t near what they hoped. We did see campaign funds used effectively in a manner that perhaps shaped the election. The Obama campaign spent money early and often to portray Mitt Romney as an out of touch elitist that couldn’t identify with the poor and middle-class. That it was true and Mitt kept living up to his reputation was an added bonus. By the time Romney got through the Primary season and was ab ...
It is hard to decide what is sweeter; the victories of all the good folks who were voted in, or who retained in their positions yesterday, or the absolute dope-slap dealt to the cynical regressives had been given what I believe they thought was godlike power over our democracy by the madness of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision; Karl Rove, with his multibillion dollar Dark Money propaganda factory, Crossroads GPS, who's whining incomprehension on Fox News, as the race was being called for Obama, is an instant classic in the genre of documenting just how far out of touch with reality the far right has become. The cadaverous Sheldon Adelson, one of the richest humans, who had parted with perhaps $100 million in an effort to force the most extreme Republican agenda in the history of that party, down America's throat, only to lose it all, without winning a single race that he had promoted! Rachel Maddow wondered aloud this evening whether Karl Rove would answer the phone for a call from the Las Ve ...
"So, lemme recap the events of Nov 6, 2012: nationally, we re-elected President Obama and defeated Romney and his Citizens United enabled billions; the Dems won the Senate, which will include AT LEAST 18 women, one of whom is openly *** (Baldwin, WI) and one of whom is the most bad *** progressive politician we've got (Warren, MA); the two men who chose to express their staggeringly stupid views on rape and abortion were soundly defeated by women; ME and MD voters APPROVED same-sex marriage (and it looks like Washington will too), and MN voters rejected a ban on it; CO and WA approved recreational weed. We also made Karl Rove blather idiotic denial on live TV. In CA, Dems now have a Super Majority in BOTH houses of the Legislature, rendering Repubs nearly irrelevant; we passed Prop 30 and defeated 32, saving schools from losing $6 billion and enacting what is essentially a Millionaires Tax, and protecting our unions (and, in essence, defeating illegal Money Laundering Koch Bros!); and though we did NOT re ...
Alan Winter I'm so impressed that American voters prevailed in SPITE of Citizens United, $5 billion dollars of PR/propaganda, Alan Dershowitz' Obama 2016 movie, the Koch Bros, Karl Rove, massive vote suppression, corrupt election officials in Republican swing states, and a compromised GOP-managed e-vote system.
The really important thing is the repudiation of big money as political speech. Citizens United be damned. I'm glad that the Koch Brothers, Karl Rove, Ralph Reed, and other big money interests wasted billions of dollars on a loss.
Romney-Ryan proved Karl Rove has lost his touch. Citizens United.they fall!
Sorry Sheldon Adelson, Koch Brothers, Roger Ailes, Rupert Murdoch, Karl Rove and all associated Super Pacs. You certainly put up a good fight! Maybe $50 million more would have bought the election! Can we please repeal Citizens United now? Worst Supreme Court Decision ever!
To Sheldon Adelson: Please kiss the collective A$$ of the Middle Class. To the Koch Brothers: Time to roll up the astro-turf, we're on to you. To Karl Rove: Next stop, the overturning of Citizens United.
Add to this unhealthy civic mix the unprecedented amount of money flowing into this election -- expected to exceed $6 billion total. The most troubling aspect is the rise of Dark Money, the abuse of tax-exempt 501(c)(4) organizations to hide donors while flooding the airwaves with negative ads. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, spending from these nondisclosing groups has passed $200 million in this election -- more than every other election cycle over the past 20 years combined -- and 88% of the ads airing now from outside groups are negative. Just three groups -- the Karl Rove-founded Crossroads GPS, the Koch Brothers-backed Americans for Prosperity, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce -- account for more spending than the next 17 outside groups combined. This makes a mockery of post-Citizens United promises about unlimited money being combined with unprecedented disclosure, and the net impact is chilling: This is perilously close to what trying to buy an election looks like.
A HOSTILE TAKEOVER OF OUR COUNTRY, By Robert F. Kennedy Jr., EcoWatch - 29 October 12: "American democracy is under assault. In one super-PAC alone, Karl Rove and the Enron grifter Ed Gillespie, have assembled $200 million from big polluters and Wall Street moguls to buy the 2012 election. Two of the Koch Brothers, Charles and David, pledged $130 million to elect candidates who favor unrestrained corporate profiteering. The senators and congressmen they fund and elect are not representing the United States-they are representing Koch and its oil industry cronies, Big Pharma, and the Wall Street banksters currently mounting a hostile takeover of our government. I have no problem characterizing these corporate-centric super-PACs as treasonous. We are now in a free fall toward old-fashioned oligarchy; noxious, thieving and tyrannical. The most corporate-friendly Supreme Court since the Gilded Age had declared in its notorious Citizens United decision that corporations are people and that money is speech. Thos ...
You want a sign that the Citizens United isn't going to have the effect that the far Right was hoping? Go to Youtube and watch a random video. Chances are you'll see Marco Rubio talking about Medicare or Karl Rove's superpac putting on ads about foreclosure. Medicare and foreclosures are not topics of major concerns to Youtube's demographic: high school kids and stoners. And since neither of those can or will vote, it shows that just shoveling money out the door doesn't mean it will be effective.
Oligarchy-Where the government is not of the people, by the people, for the people but of the business sector, by the bussiness sector, for the business sector. Our government is being bought and paid for by billionaires to perform against our interests. Citizens United abortive Supreme Court Decision is a license to steal this election. Remember that decision and how it could get much worse with new Justices appointed by Mitt Romney. We could be a wholly own subsidiary of Kock Industries, Sheldon Adelson and Karl Rove, to mention a few.
"Washington is broken" Yea, because of morons like you Mitt, Karl Rove, Citizens United, Grover Norquist, etc, etc, etc... complete ***

Read the Indianapolis Star article the mailers for Murdoch that Sen Lugar didn't authorize. The fact the mailer comes from the guy who gave us Citizens United, Jim Bopp, who also gave $$ to Karl Rove's pact and received contributions from Donald Trump tels me all I need to know. Before voting, ask yourself which candidate would work like Sen Lugar. I'm willing to bet that Lugar secretly votes for Donnely.
Who is trying to buy this election? Thanks to the Supreme Court you will never know, but read this for an idea. "For donors who wanted to spend money on politics but perhaps not have their names disclosed publicly, the (c)(4) option was much more attractive," says Mason. Soon after Citizens United, Karl Rove and other Republican Party leaders founded the 501(c)(4) Crossroads GPS and the superPAC American Crossroads. They became the biggest outside advertisers for Romney, spending an estimated $70 million since April attacking President Obama on TV. More than half of the money has flowed secretly through Crossroads GPS. Earlier in the election cycle, tax returns from Crossroads GPS showed that nearly 90 percent of its funds came from as few as 16 donors; two donors gave $10 million each. Yes, that Karl Rove, George Bush's closest political advisor.

I have a question for all the geniuses who are undecided. Who do the Koch Brothers, Karl Rove, Todd Aiken, and Fox News back? Who benefited 2 to 1 from Citizens United? Which party signed an oath to Grover Norquist? Hello?!
Robert, This is incredible. In Ohio, I just got word that dedicated progressive Senator Sherrod Brown has now been the subject of over $20 million in special interest attacks from Karl Rove, the Koch Brothers, anonymous Tea Party billionaires, and more. Sherrod has been one of progressives' biggest allies, not just when it comes to protecting working families, protecting Social Security and Medicare benefits, and protecting consumers from Wall Street -- but when it comes to fighting corporate special interest money itself and opposing Citizens United. We have to help protect him.
All Teamsters Should Vote NO on PROP. 32! Prop 32 is an anti-union trick. Don't be fooled- Vote No on Prop 32. Who's Behind Prop. 32? Sometimes the best way to evaluate an electoral proposition is to look at who's backing it. Prop. 32, as well as previous anti-union ballot measures (Prop. 75 and Prop. 226), are all brought to you ny the Lincoln Club of Orange County. They were a driving force behind the Citizens United Supreme Court Decision that gutted federal campaign finance reform and led to the rise of Super PACs. Here are a few of Prop. 32's big backers: • The infamous Kich Brothers-oil and gas billionaires who backed Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's effort to bus unions-just dropped $4 million into the pro-Prop. 32 campaign. • Former Oracle executive Thomas Siebel has chipped about $500,000. He's worth $1.8 billion and is a big donor to former Bush strategist Karl Rove's Super PAC, which receives a special exemption under Prop. 32. • Billionaire Charles Munger Jr., is in for a cool $4 ...

Karl Rove picked George Bush and helped to make him president. Now he is using Citizens United to make Romney president
This year's presidential race heralds the comeback of GOP boss Karl Rove, the brilliant political operator whose savvy strategizing earned him the moniker
We really need to repeal Citizens United! This man is like our Wizard of Oz, or some evil puppeteer who controls our destiny.
This kind of thinking and effort to get Citizens United didn't come from ordinary citizens. It came from the likes of the4 Koch Bros & Karl Rove
We need to fight the flood of money coming from people like Sheldon Adelson and secret funds pouring into superPACS like Karl Rove's GPS Crossroads. If 100 million people just gave 5 bucks to the DNC, DCCC or any one of the Democratic candidates they like we could help negate some of the damage done by the Citizens United decision.

Interesting considering Bloomington City council voted Unanimously to amend the constitution to overturn Citizens United, as will our county council in a few weeks.
Mark Hanna, the Karl Rove of the old Robber Baron era, explained a century ago that, "There are two things that are important in politics. The first is money, and I can't remember the second." In just the past decade, corporate cash has moved
Yes, Mittens does have a vision for the USA, but it's not pro-growth policies, unless you talk about rich people and big corporations; Mittens wants a fascist corporate plutarchy and we're really close to one now; btw: a plutarchy is a combination of a "plutocracy" (money rules; thanks, Citizens United! smh) and an "oligarchy" (a very small number of people making the decisions; Mittens takes his orders from them: Karl Rove, Grover Norquist, the Koch Bros. Sheldon Adelson, Foster Friess, Mr. Vanderslute, etc.) BTW2: you didn't think that the *** GOP politicians made the decisions themselves, did you?
Elections are supposed to be about the ideas and records of the candidates. But thanks to Citizens United and unlimited special interest spending, it’s getting harder and harder to see the truth about the choices voters face. Crossroads GPS, Karl Rove’s Special Interest Group, aired another attack against me with more than $300,000 behind it. And instead of seeing my real record, Montanans are seeing these distortions splattered across their TV screens. Montanans deserve better. They deserve to see the truth, and then make their decisions at the ballot box. That’s what this campaign should be about. If we want to give Montanans a transparent look at the choice they face, we can’t let Karl Rove and his outside special interest pals dominate this debate. We need to keep our message out there. You can help us do that -- just click here and pitch in $10 or more today. I’m proud of my record. I’m standing for re-election based on what I’ve done for Montana. Karl Rove never got the memo...LOL Thanks for Citizens United! NOT!
"Dirty Money" is buying our nation! We need to force a Constitutional Amendment to overturn Citizens United. What we have going on in America from "Sleazy Operatives" such as Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS, Koch Brothers Americans for Prosperity and some others are willing to buy elections and the evidence is crystal clear. The mid term elections were just a 'test case'. Now we have Voter Suppression Laws, Unlimited Money from "secret donors" some which are foreign interests and some of this money could be some of the $9-Billion Dollars which went missing in Iraq. We have Cheney meeting Republicans on Capitol Hill to fight back against defense cuts. I would be derelict of duty if I did not remind the American People of the "No Bid Contracts which Halliburton were awarded, where Cheney was a senior official and screwed the American People out of Billions of Dollars, which is Blood Money"! This behavior from the Vice President who used false information to sell the invasion of Iraq and in return got no b ...
The following from Public Citizen Karl Rove. I know — you don’t want to hear his name any more than I want to say it. Stick with me. Karl Rove’s front groups — American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS — will spend $300 million meddling in elections this year. That’s more than twice what Richard Nixon spent — in today’s dollars — becoming president in 1968. And it’s only the tip of a political spending iceberg that could sink our democracy. All told, we could see $8 billion or more spent on local and national elections this fall. Far, far too much of that will be Dark Money from anonymous corporations and super-wealthy individuals concerned solely with their own, not the public’s, interest. This is where you come in. As part of Public Citizen, you are fighting the hostile corporate takeover. And together, we are winning. Just last week, the California legislature passed a resolution calling for a Constitutional Amendment to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s insane Citizens United v. F ...
We are all Mac s knock her ring h ehr... You may not have heard that Karl Rove, champion of traditional marriage, has married again for the third time. Mrs. Rove III, according to a report in today's online edition of the Atlantic Wire, is Karen Johnson, a 45-year-old GOP lobbyist. This could go down in history as the first "Citizens United" marriage. The marriage, which was kept secret until revealed in a Politico story today, is also apparently a marriage of sorts between Rove's Crossroads GPS superPAC and loads of money from casino mogul Steve Wynn. View slideshow: Wedding bells are ringing, ding, dong, ding! “ The courting, which took place in direct conversations and through friends and allies of both men, produced big results. Wynn has kicked in millions to Crossroads GPS, according to multiple sources. According to the story in Politico: And Rove, who attended Wynn’s gala wedding last year in Vegas, recently got something of a personal bonus out of the relationship. After Wynn attended the vete ...
"Citizens United" is a Political Action Committee run by Haley Barbour. Don't know him? He is a racist from Mississippi, used to run the White Citizen's Council (renamed to Citizens United). That group stood against integration in Mississippi and may have funded the MLK assassination (per some historians of that event). He eventually became the most powerful lobbyist in Congress, representing the tobacco companies and others; worked for Nixon and Bush, and then became head of the RNC, and Governor of Mississippi. He combined forces with Karl Rove to bypass the RNC to raise amazing millions of dollars to take over our Democracy with money. His group, using the name Citizens United, got the Supreme Court to declare that the First Amendment (Free Speech) applies to money. We must overturn that decision or we will lose our Democracy. THAT's who Haley Barbour is; HE is the reason there are racist overtones and hate in our discourse again. HE is stuck in the 1960s and wants to bring us all back there... where f ...
Mitt Romney, if elected the next president will not only overturn 'Roe v Wade' as he has promised the American people, but he will also overturn the 'Affordable Care Act' that was upheld today by the U.S. Supreme Court. Romney also wants to abolish Public Education, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, The FAA, The FDA, Planned Parenthood, Unemployment Insurance, Food Stamps, Wick, a program for poor children and abused women, and other Social Programs, except the Social Programs signed into law by G.W. Bush; 'The Medicare Prescription Drug Plan' that cost about 3 times that of the ACA, and 'No Child Left Behind', both social programs that were never funded, that have to be paid for with borrowed money. There is good news for Romney and Republicans however; 'Citizens United' the Karl Rove program that allows Corporations to be 'People', and spend unlimited amounts of contributions to political campaigns (foreign money, hidden money, secret money, money from drug cartels, money from trafficking children, m ...
The vanishing Republican establishment, Karl Rove and his boys, and GOP Super PACs (via Citizens United) will WASTE $1 billion on Willard.
AMERICA FOR SALE.Republicans just 'bought' the recall election in Wisconsin, thanks to a whopping $15 mil in 'outside' money from interest groups. Thanks to Citizens United and Romneys infamous "corporations are people too,my friend" canard, the Koch Brothers,Karl Rove and the right wing conspiracy are proving why the money influence is detrimental to democracy. America is for sale, and the Repubs are winning the bid

That strange whirring noise you hear is John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and James Madison spinning in their graves as the Koch Brothers and Karl Rove via Citizens United try to buy the country.
Obama and Democrats seem befuddled by how to react to the Citizens United decision, while Karl Rove understands with crystal clarity, so Republicans win..

Floyd Brown was director in 1988 of an "independent" campaign committee called Americans for Bush. He produced the infamous Willie Horton commercial that helped Bush win the presidency. He now heads Citizens United. So when you read "Citizens United" think Willie Horton. (Karl Rove loves him.)
Crossroads GPS, a shadowy organization co-founded by Karl Rove, has raised tens of millions of dollars for thinly veiled political attack ads. But now the group is trying to illegally exploit a loophole in federal election law to hide the identity of his donors. It's up to the IRS to stop him.
If throwing billions of dollars is the only way to defeat President Obama then maybe the president has done alot of good. If people were so convinced that the president was doing a lousy job then it would be so difficult for Mitt Romney. Infact this would have been a cake walk for him. But they realise that the only way they can win is to repeat lies and distortions of the president's record. Truth sells itself it doesnt need billionares and slimy people like Karl Rove to pay lot of money to convince people because then otherwise it is a lie. Which is exactly what negative campaigns are for-lies. You repeat something enough times people may start to think its truth. American democracy is dying a painful death at the hand of Citizens United. And republicans/conservatives should be punished by the voting public for supporting this crippling law...
