APC rules out Fashola as Vice Presidential candidate The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has been ruled out as a running mate to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress anytime the candidate emerges, investigation by The PUNCH has revealed. A highly placed source in the party, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity in Abuja on Sunday, said that Fashola’s religion had ruled him out of the race. He said since it was almost certain that the party would field a Muslim as its presidential candidate, it would therefore be out of place to field another Muslim as the running mate. Apart from a former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), the party also has three other known presidential aspirants. They are a former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwakwanso; and a newspaper publisher, Mr. Sam Nda-Isaiah. Out of them, only Nda-Isaiah is a Christian. The source said that though Fashola remained the best candidat ...

Nigeria 2015: My major task if elected President – Kwankwaso The Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Saturday gave a hint into what would be the major focus of his administration if he is elected Nigeria’s president in 2015. Mr. Kwankwaso, who is one of the five presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, spoke to journalists in Kano. “My major concern if elected as president of this country is to tackle the current insecurity and ensure economic development in the country,” he said. The governor lamented the current insecurity across the country and said he believed there were people trying to split the country along religious and ethnic lines. Mr. Kwankwaso, however, said anyone trying to destroy the unity of Nigeria would fail. Speaking on his state’s assistance to victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast, the governor said his state recently donated foodstuff to displaced persons in Borno and Yobe states as part of effort to cushion their sufferings. He said ...

Excerpts You were once arrested by the State Security Service for a statement you made which it considered inciting. What do you make of your arrest? It was true I was invited. That was the word they used. I was invited by the SSS to present myself at their Kano State office which is about one and half kilometres from my residence. Before I arrived Kano from Abuja, there were some shadowy characters who were following me. The order for my arrest came directly from the Director of Operations, an Igbo man. The Red Cap Revolution Will Be On The Streets By Dr. Peregrino Brimah We have verified the allegations of a full blockade of Kano State Governor Kwankwaso from all public venues in Abuja by the Jonathan-led PDP government. The Kano State Governor who intends to make his declaration to run for the Presidency of Nigeria under the APC opposition party this Thursday (Tomorrow), after making several attempts to secure these public avenues, to no avail over the past days finally resorted to making this infraction known to the public in a Press release by his office. The question is: who is afraid of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and why? We proceeded to check the record of Governor Kwankwaso and the reasons why the Jonathan-led Government could allow Atiku Abubakar and General Buhari make their declarations, but utilizes all means to block Kano State Governor Kwankwaso’s declaration for the President’s seat. I am humbled to say that in the record of Kwankwaso in Kano over his three years, he has been differ ...
Buhari: APC Aspirants`Chance At Immortality by Auwal Sani Anwar Written by Auwal Sani Anwar Created on 22 October 2014 A few years ago, I was invited to participate as the Chairman of the Education Sub-Committee of a private initiative named Kano Renaissance Think Tank (KRTT), under the guidance of world renowned Manitoba mathematician, Prof. Abba Gumel, and we sat and marshaled out the most feasible solutions to Kano’s myriad of problems. Mid-way into the work, the Kano State Government got wind of it and the Secretary of the State Govt joined us online and made informed contributions. On completion of the work, we were invited to present our recommendations to His Excellency, Gov. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. I was unable to join the team as I was not available, but I got the biggest dose of happiness when I heard that Gov. Kwankwaso did not only appreciate our efforts, but he also received the team while his Executive Council was in session to underscore it. He immediately handed over the document to the SS ...
FG FRUSTRATING MY PRESIDENTIAL DECLARATION – KWANKWASO ALLEGES Kano State Governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso has accused the Federal Government of deliberately blocking him from using public places to declare his presidential aspiration in Abuja, describing the act as irritating and undemocratic. He revealed that on two occasions, his campaign committee sought different venues in Abuja for the declaration ceremony but they were denied by the powers that be, noting that as a politician, he knows that with or without ceremonial declaration, any presidential candidate can win inter and intra party elections. According to him, “the Eagle Square proposed venue seems to be impossible, even the conference centre, as we are now struggling for an alternative venue for the declaration. So, if I fail to secure a venue, I will invite you all to the streets of Abuja, that is where we are now and we can hold it there.” Governor Kwankwaso, who stated that political conspiracy will not deter him from pursuing his le ...
APC GOVERNORS BACK CONSENSUS CANDIDACY OCTOBER 23, 2014 BY JOHN ALECHENU AND SUCCESS NWOGU The Progressives Governors’ Forum on Wednesday declared its support for consensus method of choosing presidential and other candidates for the All Progressives Congress. The PGF Chairman, Rochas Okorocha, who announced this to journalists after the forum’s meeting in Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday, added that neither the forum nor the party had adopted any candidate for the 2015 general elections. He said the forum which comprises APC governors was in support of consensus method of choosing candidates so long as there would be no imposition of anyone on members of the party. Okorocha, who is also the governor of Imo State, added that in the event of a consensus not being reached, the APC could go for credible and transparent primaries. The governor said, “On consensus, our forum is in full support of consensus as one of the ways to produce our presidential candidate or any candidate in the party for as lo .. ...

Who Believes the Lie that There Are More People in the North Than in the South? By Femi Ekitifor Wale Aribisala Everything turns upside down in Nigeria. Logic becomes illogical. Wisdom becomes foolishness. Two plus two becomes seven. Hospitals become mortuaries. Stealing is not corruption. Education is a sin. In Nigeria, so many things fly in the face of simple commonsense. One major example is the ridiculous idea that, by some inexplicable freak of nature, more people live in the arid less-developed Northern part of Nigeria than in the wet, coastal, more-developed South. Insult to intelligence The larger population of the North is an elephant in the Nigerian living-room. According to the last disputed census of 2006, there are 75 million Nigerians living in the North and 65 million in the South. This is balderdash! As long as we continue to accept such blatant lie, there can be no true democracy in Nigeria. Electoral results must continue to be falsified to conform to it. As long as we contin ...

WE ARE NOT IN ANYWAY SKEPTICAL ABOUT PRIMARIES. Only that we are trying all means possible to avoid segregation in the party. Moles are the major threat to APC they creat all sort of confusion and commotion to destabilize this party, believe it or not if you conduct primaries in APC 100 time General Muhammadu Buhari will definitely and surely emerge the winner, there are no 2 ways about it. He is the only presidential aspirant that gather millions of supporters from all corners of Nigeria without paying a dime. General Muhammadu Buhari is the only candidate that produce 15million votes in kano state alone. We all know general Muhammad Buhari is the masses choice he doesn't need to buy his teeming crowd and supporters. Some people believe money can influence the primaries but today the story is entirely different. Nigerian populace are tired of years of misruled, this country is going in to shambles, insecurity is the order of the day, terrorism is always on the news headline, corruption is the second nam ...
23 Reasons Why Former Military Dictator, Muhammadu Buhari, Can`t Be Nigerian President !!! By Onyeneho Anthony In my book, Buhari is a pretentious, insincere anti-corruption fighter. The trajectory of a man's journey in public life matters. For the following reasons I cannot vote for Buhari. 1. He is an oligarch who does not believe in equality before the law. The way he jailed Lateef Jakande, Jim Nwobodo, Ambrose Ali, Pa Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Sam Mbakwe, Chief Ayo Ojewumi on cases that had no foundation and allowed fellow Fulani, Awwal Ibrahim, then Niger State governor, who was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London with 14 million pounds sterling, several millions of Niara, and undisclosed amount in US dollars, to be under house arrest is my evidence. He also allowed Shehu Kangiwa, Sokoto State Governor who conducted and supervised the famous Bakolori Massacre of poor peasant farmers whose land was appropriated without compensation to remain under house arrest. (a) Ayo Ojewumi became blind as a result ...

Dangote Promises To Crash Price of Cement. Bukola Idowu — Sep 1, 2014 Dangote Cement has assured Nigerians that the era of highly priced cement will soon be over as it has concluded plans to increase its production in all its three key plants in the country and also simplify its distribution network with the aim of crashing the price and making the products available to all Nigerians. President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, disclosed this at a recent customers’ forum held in Kano State. He said that his company had concluded plans to expand the capacity of its production lines, in Obajana, Kogi state, Gboko, Benue State, and Ibese, Ogun State, from the current 19.25 million metric tonnes (mmt) by additional 9 million tons by the end of the year. , 2014 What is it about this Fayose? BY AZUKA ONWUKA I doubt if there has been any other Nigerian beside Mr. Ayo Fayose who has beaten two incumbent state governors in two different governorship elections. Some governors have left and come back, like Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State, but I can’t remember any Nigerian that beat an incumbent governor the first time, and came back the second time to beat another incumbent governor. Please, if anybody knows any other person who has achieved this feat, let the person school me. For the sake of political differences, it is easy for many to hype Fayose’s flaws and overlook his strong points. It is easy to talk down on the Ekiti electorate as unwise people who don’t know what they want. It is easy to blame Fayose’s preference by the Ekiti people as the result of inducement nicknamed “stomach infrastructure.” It is easy to cast Fayose as uncouth and unruly. But one thing that surprises me is why Ekiti people continue to shower love on this man th ...

Tears for Nigerian Conspiracy Theorists By Jaafar Jaafar Have you ever queried why 'conspiracy theory' is called a theory despite lacking in 'testability' or empirical features that make a theory? Why should hearsay, urban legend or superstition be termed a theory without subjection to the rigors of research? When Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, then governor of Kano State, suspended polio vaccinations in Kano State in 2003 on the suspicion that it bore components that reduce fertility, the gullible cheered the governor. Other credulous subjects even believed the vaccines contained HIV virus. The political decision really earned the governor a cheap political point at the time. After eight months moratorium on the vaccination led to the escalation of polio cases in the state, the governor vowed to local and international pressure and lifted the ban. The people were very unhappy with the decision, heightening anathema for the vaccine on the premise that the Western World has laced the vaccines with family planning ...
SEE HOW THEY LOOT IN THE NAME OF SECURITY! Aliyu Ismaila Gwarzo was the National Security Advisor of Nigerian military ruler Sani Abacha. He has been linked to theft of $2.45 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria.[1] Head of State Security ServiceEdit Aliyu Ismaila Gwarzo was born in the village of Gwarzo in Kano State, about 72 kilometres from the capital Kano.[2] He entered the police force where he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility, retiring with a senior rank.[3] In June 1986 the military head of state General Ibrahim Babangida appointed Gwarzo Director General of the newly formed State Security Service (SSS), responsible for domestic intelligence. His Deputy Director was Lt. Colonel A.K. Togun.[4] In a case that attracted considerable media attention, Dele Giwa, editor-in-chief of Newswatch magazine, was killed on 19 October 1986 by a parcel bomb. Two days earlier SSS officials had summoned Giwa to their headquarters, where Colonel A.K. Togun accused him of planning a social ...
THE A.P.C PRESIDENTIAL TICKET 2015: BUHARI, ATIKU AND KWANKWASO WHO WILL FLY THE FLAG OF THE PARTY AND DEFEAT THE JONATHAN? (5) (The political comparative analysis) By Abbati Bako, psc, bsis, mti,Kent,UK .Continuation Rabu Musa Kwankwaso HAPPY SALLAH TO ALL MUSLIM-UMMA ALL OVER THE WORLD The 59 year old Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (the current Governor of Kano State) may be the next President of Nigeria in 2015. Spring doubts may come into the mind of some readers of this writing. Because to many, Kwankwaso is the least expected to be President of Nigeria compared to Buhari and Atiku (the two political giants/icons in Nigeria's politics). But one thing must be remembered, the Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, the late Umaru Musa yar'adua in 2007, the Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999 were (all) least expected to lead the Nigerian nation compared to the other heavy weight politicians on the other side. This is the reason why Professor George Friedman observed in his book (The Next 100 Years, USA, 2009) "Conventional political a ...
By Angela Adeboye Nigeria is the only secular country in the world where the government regularly pays for her citizens to attend religious pilgrimages. In 2012, the Federal Government spent NGN766m on Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and NGN577m on the Jerusalem pilgrimage. In addition to direct funding, the Federal Government provides subsidy of approximately 10% on exchange rate to pilgrims. Furthermore, most State Governments in the country, except a few such as Kano State, which recently stopped, also fund pilgrimage operations annually. According to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Kano State abolished the funding of pilgrimage in 2011 and saved over NGN1billion in that year alone. Likewise, Niger State spent over NGN5.1billion in six years on Hajj pilgrimage only. Funding of pilgrimage is only one example of the decadence resulting from the meddling of government in religious affairs. Religious activities in Nigeria appear to be increasing significantly, while crime and corruption are deepening. Me ...
By Abdulsalaam Mohammed KANO—Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State, has described the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole PDP candidate for 2015 Presidential election as undemocratic. The Governor, who spoke while receiving the report of a consultation committee on his Presidential ambition, said: “Since the five governors decamped from PDP to APC, I told Nigerians that PDP will become a weaker party whose democratic value will erode. Now the stakeholders of the party have come out to say that they have chosen President Jonathan as their party’s sole presidential candidate without going for primaries. “I am assuring you that APC leaders are committed to do justice in all of the forthcoming party primaries be it at state and National Assemblies, governorship and even that of the presidential election. “APC will give everybody, especially, delegates right to choose the best candidates.” He claimed that when he and some of his colleagues were in the PDP, there was no time a c ...

BIBI FAROUK’S DEATH A GREAT LOSS - KWANKWASO Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has described the death former Deputy Governor of Kano State under Mohammed Abubakar Rimi's administration in the Second Republic, Alhaji Bibi Farouk, as a huge loss not only to Kano state but to the country as as whole. He stated this on Tuesday while condoling with the bereaved family at Kofar Mata quarters in Kano city. The governor prayed to God Almighty to forgive his sins and grant him the highest position in Paradise. The Late Bibi Farouk was the Deputy Governor to late Governor Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi between 1979 and 1981 before he was removed from office by the then state House of Assembly. The impeachment followed the rift between the faction of the defunct Peoples’ Redemption Party (PRP) loyal to late Aminu Kano known then as "Tabo" and the other faction led by Rimi identified as "Santsi". A public administrator, intellectual and politician, the deceased was an indigene of Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano state. ...

Kano 2015: Anxiety as Murtala, Abacha’s sons go for PDP ticket = Kano State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) may face yet another crisis over the 2015 governorship ticket of the party, with the entry into the race of Mohammed Abacha and Risqua Mohammed, both sons of Nigeria’s former heads of state. Weekly Trust digs into the unfolding political scenario as the desperation of the contenders may lead to a political war in the state. The 2015 governorship elections in Kano State may throw up very interesting moments filled with anxiety and suspense for both contenders and people of the state. Signs have emerged that the Kano gubernatorial race would be colourful precisely because of the involvement of the sons of two Nigeria’s former military heads of state in the campaign to govern Kano, who are poised to give the old political eggheads in the state a run for their money. Weekly Trust gathered that Alhaji Mohammed Abacha, son of Nigeria’s former head of state, late General Sani Abach ...

CRACKS IN APC...ARE THEY REALLY DETERMINED TO WRESTLE POWER FROM PDP? Shekarau left while positing that “APC lacks the vision behind its formation as it is now being run by one individual without recourse to the interim leadership of the party nationwide”. They said “Frankly speaking, we are not perturbed and we are also not surprised. The people of Kano State are politically savvy”. We said what was Mallam thinking, but what went wrong? Why would a purposeful politician suddenly called it quit with the party he labored to build and jump into a platform he had once described in unsavoury terms in the past? # Barafawa followed saying that he and his associates no longer believed they will get justice and a sense of belonging in the APC. Their response was that everyone has the right to join any party. We sensed highhandedness. # Femi Fani Kayode left saying “I cannot remain in a party where a handful of people that have sympathies for Boko Haram and that have a clear Islamic agenda are playing a ...
MDGS Record Successes In Nigeria – Operators: Reports from various states across the country have shown that the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) have recorded tremendous success in Nigeria. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Alhaji Mohammed Yaro, the Director MDGs in Kano State, said the goals had constructed paediatric and maternity wards in 26 primary health centres in the state within the period. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Kano, the director said the state government provided boreholes, supplied drugs and other medical equipment in the centres. “The projects were executed by the Federal and state government on the platform of MDGS programme in 2011. “The state government invested in three of the eight agenda of MDGs namely: health sector, water and sanitation and primary education’’ he said. According to him, the government has purchased and distributed ambulances to general hospitals in Bichi, Dambatta, Gwarzo, Wudil, Bagwai local govern ...
VERY hard to detect because of the tender human sentiments harboured towards womanhood, female suicide bombers, some of them teenagers, have suddenly become the newest weapons of mass destruction in the hands of Boko Haram terrorists. In the latest tactical offensive, hijab-wearing women, laced with improvised explosive belts, are increasingly wasting lives in the North. The deadly tactic that sends a hail of shrapnel piercing through the flesh and breaking the bones of unsuspecting bystanders demands urgent attention from the government and security forces. According to the chilling reports, the agents of destruction killed more than 10 people in Kano in four days late in July. A 16-year-old female extremist blew herself up in a failed attempt to kill people in front of the Northwest University in Kano on July 27. It was another gory story a day later when two female bombers succeeded in their mission in the Kano State capital. Last Wednesday, one of the ladies of death, suspected to be about 15 years ol ...

Civilian JTF Raises The Alarm: 40 Suicide Bombers Sneak Into Borno Kareem Haruna — Jul 30, 2014 There was tension in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, yesterday following credible information that at least 40 members of the Boko Haram terrorist group, among whom were teenage girls, had sneaked into the city with the intention of carrying out suicide bombings. This was coming days after two separate bomb explosions masterminded by the Boko Haram terrorists rocked the city of Kano during the Eid-el-Fitri celebration. It has been confirmed that teenage girls were used to ferry the explosions – one in a food flask and the other in a jar meant to contain kerosene – to the point where the explosives were detonated in the Kano State capital. LEADERSHIP has gathered from different sources that the Boko Haram suicide bombers that had entered Maiduguri were between 30 and 40 in number. A member of the Civilian-JTF who pleaded anonymity said a suspected member of the Boko Haram who was on Sunday arrested in ...

Emir of Kano State, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has cancelled Eid festivities marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan next week after a deadly church bombing and a female suicide bomber’s attempt to attack a university, an official said Sunday. A statement issued by the Emir reads: “Given the critical situation we are in, the royal highness (of Kano state, Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) has suspended all festivities associated with the eminence including the Durbar and other traditional events that are held during the Eid festival,” an aide to the emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, told AFP.

Testimony: how the grandson of Emir of Kano, Paul Ado Bayero converted to Christianity February 8, 2012 My name is Paul Ado Bayero. You may have been hearing of the grandson of the Emir of Kano (Northern Nigeria) Alhaji Ado Bayero, who converted to Christianity. You may have been wondering whether it is true or not; I tell you today that it is true for I am the one. I am a Hausa man, a typical Hausa man from Kano State, Nigeria, grandson of the Emir of Kano, my mother’s name is Jumai. Of my mother’s children, I’m the only one that did not receive western education in an English speaking school. My mother was a devout Muslim who loved Islam and despised anything that was not Islamic. She used to abuse Christians. Anywhere she saw Christians she would curse them. Because of the disposition, she prevailed on my father to allow me to be trained in Islamic education. My father agreed because it was a thing of pride in Islam for one’s child to be properly schooled in Islamic teachings. It was more prest ...

“Why Gov. Nyako Must not Go” I don’t need to take us aback to why the Adamawa State legislators are asking for the head of the state chief executive Gov. Murtala Nyako alias baba mai mangoro. His offences are numerous ranging from infrastructural decay, insensitivity on the plight of the citizenry, running the affairs of the state as personal or family property, outstanding salary areas and other allowances owed the state civil servants and of recent illegal deductions from their take- home pay which more often than not cannot take them home. A lot of political moves aimed at salvaging the situation in favour of Nyako were made by some APC stalwarts, some of which include the former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Gov. Rabiu Kwankoso of Kano State and Mallam Nuhu Rabadu the former EFCC boss. All their efforts were said to have not reach the desired results. Some spirited efforts were also made by some stake holders at the national level to win support for the embattled governor by advising him to iss ...

THE EVIL DECISION FOR ARRESTING NORTHERNERS IN THE SOUTHEAST NIGERIA PART(1) I am always proud for Nigeria to continue be as one Nation irrespective of our Religion/differences, but due to the arresting of our Northerners Brothers/sisters in Abia and Imo State. So we will welcome any development that will lead to the separation of this country. And this simply indicates that the Governors of Abia/Imo does'nt have foresight, without thinking that their people are many in our Northern states, doing a white collar businesses. Take for instance, how many hundreds of thousands of igbo's are in both Kano and Kaduna State staying there and operating a business in the state?? Especially in my state Kaduna, how many thousands of Igbo's are in Kaduna central market and they even have the opportunity to own a shops and operating a business?? Do Northerners have this same opportunity in the southeast?? How many thousands of Igbo's are in both new and old Panteka market including Oriepata selling motors spare parts?? ...

One common thing about Shekau and Shekarau is the hatred fr Western Education. The latter's case is evidenced by the burning of Western books while he held sway as Governor of Kano State. The former shows us his reasons on a daily basis. To make the situation completely unacceptable, Shekarau has been confirmed the Education Minister. Like my friend Abolarinwa Peter 'tunde did say, 'bye bye to Education'. Governance in Nigeria exposes our gross limitation and inability to commit events/situations into a long term memory. It is so bad that GEJ is selfish in his choice of players in his team. The saying 'U can't give what you don't av/believe in' remains valid.

PDP Is Nigeria's History, Future - Gov. Lamido 4 July 2014 , Source: Vanguard Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State fielded questions from a group of journalists after they inspected the Dutse International Airport, which is nearing completion, and other projects in the state capital. Here is an excerpt of the interview. We were at the Dutse International Airport where the contractors are finishing work on the world- class airport. Would you to tell Nigerians what led you to build that kind of airport in your state? Air transportation today is a necessity. When Bill Gates came to Nigeria, he was to come to Jigawa over the issues of polio and all that, but because there was no airport he couldn't come. There are other investors who would want to come here but then the access is not there because of the feeling of insecurity travelling on our roads, even from Kano State. And so the airport is a thing of necessity. Minus this, the president said he was going to build six zonal airports for some economic purpo ...

Breaking News: Boko Haram Leader Abubakar Shakau set to Clinch PDP 2015 ticket in Borno!!! Are you surprise? Read as Soni narrates!!! This came on the heels of the successful resolution of the protracted case of money laundering preferred against the son of the late kleptocrat by the Federal Government. To this end Nigeria received 167 million euros ($227 million) equivalent to a whooping N37 billion shekels from the Government of Liechtenstein, where part of the Abacha loot was hidden. In turn, FG entered a nollei prosecui and cleaned all the charges bordering on theft and concealment of a whooping N443 billion naira against Mohammed Abacha, . This President Endorses Corruption Comrade Timi Frank — June 24, 2014 The other day when President Goodluck Jonathan lectured Nigerians on the true meaning of “stealing” and “corruption” many armchair critics began to wiggle their noses as if to say, “Mr President, how is that? The two are one and the same!” However, for those still doubting the cerebral outpouring by the president, he has provided ample object lessons to buttress the point he was trying to make during his last media chat. First is the withdrawal of criminal charges preferred by the Federal Government against Mohammed Abacha, the son of the ex-military dictator, General Sani Abacha. It will be recalled that Mohammed Abacha was arraigned at the high court of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja in February this year on a nine-count charge of dishonestly receiving the sum of $141.1million and $384.35million allegedly denominated in cash and traveller’s cheques. The fresh arraignment followed the Supreme Court’s quashing of ...

Gentlemen of the press, I welcome you all to this important press briefing to reflect on a major issue that drew the attention of all Nigerians in January 2012-Oil subsidy fraud and corruption cases of unimaginable proportion. We would also reflect on the current political impunity in Nigeria which is threatening both our hard earned democracy and the unity of our dear nation. As you may all recall, the Federal Government of Nigeria, on January 1, 2012 announced the removal of subsidy on petroleum products. The announcement led to widespread protests by Civil Society Organisations, organised labour and ordinary citizens who felt the economic policy was too harsh as it would obviously have multiplier consequences and wreak untold hardship on ordinary citizens of ...

Corruption is gradually taking over everywhere in nigeria under GEJ leadership. I was going to write about my party’s loss of the Governorship elections in Ekiti State on June 21st 2014 (I still will God willing), when news reached me of an explosion in Kano State, at the state’s School of Hygiene, a tertiary institution where medical and health support personnel are produced to man numerous facilities across the state and the country’s northern region. I was also further stunned by news of an attack near Chibok in Borno State where about 20 people were murdered and then news of abduction of about 91 people in Kummabza, Borno most of them women and girls. How much more gory can the flow of news be? How much more torment can the human body and psychology withstand?   There may not appear to be so much to be linked between the political system, elections and the chaotic state of horror in the country’s North East most especially and some other parts at measured intervals. However, the country is led by authority that is responsible primarily to the citizens and residents for t ...

Four villagers who tried to escape were shot dead on the spot.” Meanwhile, 70 suspected Boko Haram terrorists have been killed by the military in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State at the weekend. Jonathan Flushes Away N413.68 Billion For Kano Votes The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, on Friday, criticized President Goodluck Jonathan for flushing away N413.68 billion to get votes in 2015 presidential election in Kano State. Acting National Publicity Secretary of CNPP, Mr Austin Ibok, while reacting to withdrawal of the criminal charges against Mohammed Abacha, son of late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, said Jonathan withdrew that case because of the votes he hopes the Abachas will garner for him in Kano State at the 2015 presidential election. History does repeat itself: 1. Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi's grand-father was deposed by the Premier of Northern Nigeria; 2. Sultan Dasuki of Sokoto was deposed by Gen. Sani Abacha; 3. Gen. Sani Abacha indicted Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi for being one of those who instigated the murder and beheading of Gideon Akaluka and incarcerated him in Sokoto Prison; and 4. Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi will be deposed shortly by the next Governor of Kano State, Mohammed Abacha, the son of Gen. Sani Abacha. The common thread: * Emir Sanusi Snr; * Emir Sanusi Jnr; * Abacha Snr: * Abacha Jnr; * Deposition; * Sokoto. I am personally not a fan of the Abachas, but it appears Mohammed Abacha may have a role to play in ensuring we get...
1. Mohammed Abacha who hadn't appeared in court for once in his corruption trial, appeared this one time in which charges of been in possession of billions of dollars of wealth, were dropped. 2. Lichtenstein and Switzerland according to the govt will release billions of some of Abacha's stolen wealth in their possession. 3. Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke relates the two as reason for dropping charges against Mohammed Abacha. 4. Politically, gej is at loggerheads with the Emir and Governor of Kano State. 5. Now, I'm wondering how all of these play in the PDP nomination for gubernatorial in 2015!
Is there really hope for this country? Now, we have dropped all charges against Mohammed Abacha! Reason? To facilitate the return of more of the money his father stole and he and his family have harboured and enjoyed! Can you understand that logic? This government is a huge joke! I mean, we all know that the Kano State Governorship is at stake, but, must we continue to disgrace ourselves like this? How INANE can we get?
I won't be surprise if the drug case against Kashamu Buruji (PDP bigwig in Southwest) be withdrawn in the next few weeks now that Bode George's wife is the NDLEA Boss just as the FG withdrawn N446.3bn theft charges against Mohammed Abacha (PDP Gubernatorial hopeful for Kano State)...
If we know absolutely nothing about Nigeria, there's one exception. It's impossible for any politician to rig an election in a constituency where he/she is hopelessly unpopular. APC recently won all the LG wards in Kano State. I wonder why PDP didn't make an attempt to rig the election? All the noise in Ekiti is because APC knows the election will be a very tight one. That is funny though. I thought people claimed Fayemi did well? Why would people want to replace a performing governor? Are they saying people in Ekiti State are dumb??? Nobody should lose sleep over all the screaming, puffing and chest thumping by APC cyber thugs. Ekiti residents will decide. It is their call.

JONATHAN BOWS TO PRESSURE OVER SANUSI Category: Lead stories Published on Friday, 13 June 2014 05:02 Written by Ismail Mudashir, Abdulkadir Badsha Mukhtar & Haruna Gimba Yaya, Kano Hits: 16712 Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi with the Madakin Kano, Yusuf Nabahani Cigari, and other palace aides in Kano yesterday .Police end Kano palace siege .New emir may relocate today President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday bowed to pressure to allow for the reopening of the Kano Emir’s Palace, which had been under siege by security forces following Lamido Sanusi’s appointment as new emir on Sunday. Daily Trust learnt in Kano that top Northern elders mounted pressure on the president, and drew his attention to the dangers of keeping the palace sealed indefinitely. Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso had alleged on Wednesday that President Jonathan ordered the blockade on the palace so as to prevent Sanusi from relocating there. The police had denied this, saying they were only protecting the palace from hoodlums. Following the p ...
Kano state police commissioner said his men were guarding the palace and its vicinity to keep the peace and prevent miscreants from looting the complex. Mr. Shinaba said, “We are not stopping anyone from accessing the palace. The Emir or anyone else can move in and out of the palace unmolested. “The police has no power over the Emir. It’s a traditional institution and we have respect for it. But a situation where people would be creating problems, protesting and threatening the peace is unacceptable. We cannot fold our arms and allow miscreants to loot the palace.” The police commissioner denied being under any instruction from anyone to block the emir from entering his palace or arresting him. “Instruction from who? Go and ask the presidency or the police headquarters to determine if they gave me any instruction to block the Emir from his palace or molest him. “My own interest is that of security which I’m doing and will continue to do.” Protests had broken out in Kano on Sunday shortly a ...

Anti-democratic Politicians May Truncate 2015 Polls, Jonathan Warns — June 13, 2014 President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday raised the alarm over an alleged plot by anti- democratic individuals in the country to take advantage of certain loopholes in the electoral processes to truncate the 2015 general elections. “I agree totally with the Chairman of INEC that we have to be mindful and listen very well so that we can save our necks. There are still very remorseless anti- democratic forces operating in the political system, ever ready to exploit lapses in the management of our political and electoral processes. Some of these forces may indeed during the fourth coming elections as their lifestyle truncate the nation’s hard won democratic liberty”, he stated. Jonathan who stated this, while speaking at the All Political Parties Summit at the InterNational Conference Centre, Abuja warned that the country’s social stability and democratic consolidation could be undermined if critical national political ...

PEOPLE'S COURT: ALERT ON KANO: Tomorrow is Friday. We have credible information that Jonathanians in Kano and their agents have received huge sums of money to get youths to protest massively and cause mayhem after the Juma'at prayers. The Jonathanians hope the protests will lead to violence, destruction and loss of lives, while the federal security agencies watch helplessly, thus giving President Jonathan the excuse to declare a state of emergency in Kano State, remove Governor Kwankwaso and depose Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. This plan will fail. By God's Grace, tomorrow's Juma'at prayers in Kano will be uneventful except for special prayers for the repose of Late Emir Ado Bayero. Whoever sold this evil plan to the Jonathanians should know that those who fight the will of God will end in ignominious perdition. Sun June 12: 21 yrs after By Our Reporter on June 12, 2014 · Politics Today, Thursday, June 12, 2014 marks the 21st anniversary of the annulled presidential election held on Saturday, June 12, 1993. RAZAQ BAMIDELE, in this piece reminisces some political events that have taken place since the 21 years of the annulment. The Genesis Whenever the military staged a coup in Nigeria, the refrain was “our regime will be brief.” So, it was not different when the duo of General Muhammadu Buhari and Brigadier-General Tunde Idiagbon of tblessed memory interrupted the second republic under Alhaji Sheu Shagari as President on December 31, 1983. Meanwhile, Nigerians did not have the priviledge of experiencing the regime’s brevity as a palace coup led by General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), sent the duo packing in 1985 using the same refrain, ‘brevity.’ But, the so called brevity became longetivity of tenure. Babangida kept on shifting the goal post whenever democratic goal was about to be scored ...

Did Kano State Governor really say President Jonathan wants to kill him? Why? Because they withdraw his security details? Eya. Politicians won't destroy this country o. And why are the Police still blocking the entrance to the palace? To stop Sanusi? But I learnt even the children of the late ADO Bayero are already congratulating Sanusi. Anyway let's wait for Sultan of Sokoto to intervein.
Comment of the Day: Olugbenga Olayiwole wrote "This argument (about GEJ vs Sanusi) to me is very baseless and pointless. It actually doesn't reflect well on everyone arguing. How do these petty non constitutional squabbles help to move the nation forward and enhance the cause of the common man? We should be more concerned that there is a breakdown of law and order in Kano State. We should be concerned that Governors are being locked up in airport terminals and others not being allowed to land despite filing flight plans. We have more pressing issues to address my friends. We should leave this matter of 2 stupid and selfish members of the Old boys' club to them. If they like let them not greet each other ever again. Let them just give us good governance and good infrastructure as well as making sure that our economic fortunes improve. I could care less who says rankadede to whom.

Yet they will tell us they never instructed the police to prevent the Emir from accessing the Palace! The question is has the Emirate reported any thing stolen from the Palace? Who made such report and what is the report of their investigation even if interim? Has there being complaint by the owners of the throne concerning concerning threat to their security? How come this Government did not anticipate breakdown of peace and kidnap of the Chibok girls to deploy these cowards called police men to forestall harm to innocent people? How Come the FGN is always quick to act in respect of matters that they consider adversarial to the interest of Jonathan and PDP? How come the ...
