TUESDAY BASEBALL NOTES: A SAN DIEGO STATE PITCHER WHO IS NOT STEPHEN STRASBURG, beat the Red Sox in Cleveland last night, 3-2. Justin Masterson, the former Aztec, who once pitched for Boston, brought his A Game to Progressive Field last night and shutdown the Sox through seven masterful innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, while striking out 10. The Champions of the baseball world, that would be the Red Sox, "drew" 14,078 to the ballpark that had once seen 454 straight sell-outs. The pathetic turnout, the fewest fans to see Boston play anywhere in a long time, will not be allowed the excuse of bad weather, which Cleveland has had plenty of this Winter and Spring, as game time temperature was 81. Oh, the Sox on the road average 32,782, or 18,704 more fans than were at Progressive last night. THE HEDGE FUND DODGERS beat the White Sox in Chavez Ravine, 5-2, while the ghosts of Hispanic families and 37,336 others watched. Clayton Kershaw, thought to be baseball's best, won his fourth game of the year, g ...
Justin Masterson, coming off two poor outings, is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in four appearances vs. Jays at Progressive Field.
"Stat of the day: The Indians finished the season with a 19-5 record after Justin Masterson smuggled a live chicken into Progressive Field on Sept. 4 as a prank on rookie reliever Cody Allen, nicknamed Chicken Al." I love the beat reporting of the Plain Dealer!

Tribe salvages one! Indians have just enough to beat Baltimore 3-1 at Progressive Field. Comment- Justin Masterson did what an ace is suppose to do. The top 3 hitters in the Tribe line-up contribute 2 hits each including a Shin-Soo-Choo 2-run homer. Chris Perez nails down a 1-2-3 save.
Ace throws gem! Cleveland stymies Pittsburgh 2-0 at Progressive Field. Comment- Another great outing from Justin Masterson. Michael Brantley singles in a big run while extending his hitting streak to 22 games in a row. Chris Perez with his 21st consecutive save.

Scheduled Cleveland starter Justin Masterson (1-3, 5.04) will again try to find a way to solve the Tigers. The right-hander is 0-4 with a 5.79 ERA in seven starts versus Detroit, including 0-2 with a 6.12 ERA in five at Progressive Field. If he follows the pattern, he will probably make the Tigers look like fools..
Justin Masterson will make his first career opening day start on April 5 vs Toronto in Progressive Field according to Manny Acta
