Civil and political rights are a class of rights that protect individuals' freedom from unwarranted infringement by governments and private organizations, and ensure one's ability to participate in the civil and political life of the state without discrimination or repression. 5.0/5

The New York Times Editorial Board today resorted to the fascist, authoritarian impulse of the left, and urged that the Justice Department investigate whether New York Police are guilty of civil rights violations. As the Times accused the NYPD of withdrawing policing from minority communities. The Times editors writing that de Blasio quote "...Should appeal directly to the public and say plainly that the police are trying to extort him and the city he leads." Frankly, it's never been clearer that the Times is little more than a house organ for the left, doing anything it can to further the Obama Administration's campaign of ignorance and bigotry against the police. from Senator Barbara Boxer re: Ferguson Police Department Today, following the grand jury's decision in the tragic death of Missouri teenager Michael Brown, I wrote to Attorney General Eric Holder urging the Justice Department to complete a thorough investigation of the Ferguson Police Department. The full text of my letter follows. The Honorable Eric H. Holder, Jr. Attorney General of the United States 950 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20530-0001 Dear Attorney General Holder: I am writing to express my strong support for the Department of Justice investigation into whether the Ferguson Police Department has engaged in discriminatory policing practices. It is imperative that we find out if there is a pattern and practice of civil rights violations in Ferguson. The heartbreaking death of Michael Brown is only the latest of too many such tragedies that we have seen all across this country. So many of these tragedies are born out of distrust between the Police Department and the local community. Wh . ...

Now that Eric Holder is going...my top three gripes: So what are worst actions by Eric Holder? 1. Operation Fast and Furious, probably the most reckless law enforcement operation ever carried out by the Justice Department. This gun-running scandal led directly to the death of an American border agent and many Mexican citizens. Holder was held in contempt because of his refusal to turn over information and documentation about this operation gone wrong that he basically claimed he knew nothing about. 2. Holder has waged a war on election integrity and “racialized and radicalized the [Civil Rights] Division to the point of corruption” according to one current Justice employee, embedding “politically leftist extremists in the career ranks who have an agenda that does not comport with equal protection or the rule of law; who believe that the ends justify the means; and who behave unprofessionally and unethically.” 3. Failure to conduct a real, criminal investigation of the IRS targeting of conservative ...

I think it's funny: CNN, and news outlets like MSNBC and Fox News corp are asking, "Should the Justice Department take over the investigation in Ferguson, MO" since AG Eric Holder is heading to the region just today? YEAH! Duh! And tell him let the Feds take over the entire South (yes, MO did join the Confederacy) while they're at it! Just like the North did during the "Reconstruction" period following the American Civil War! And let's get it right this time! (hint: "Jim Crow") Reconstruction, basically, was the time period of 1865-1877, though some historians count the time period beginning in 1863, two full years before the end of the war dating from when Lincoln emancipated the slaves. It was a twelve year period fiercely fought between many competing sides, e.g., the "Carpetbaggers" (Northerners who went to help rebuild the South after the war), or the "Scalawags" (white southerners who always lived in the region), the U.S. Army (sent in by Grant to suppress the KKK and Confederacy now an underground ...

There are few things the far left love more than a cop killer. Mumia Abu Jamal is one of their favorites. ADVERTISEMENT Cop killer. Cop killer. They love him so much, President Barack Obama recently nominated one of his defense attorneys to lead the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ. Not just be a part of it. Debo Adegbile will run it. And to make sure he gets the ok, Democrats banned the widow of the cop Mumia killed from testifying in opposition to Adegbile’s appointment: The Philadelphia district attorney is speaking out against President Obama’s nominee for a top Justice Department post, saying his link to the case of a convicted cop killer “sends a message of contempt” to police — as the widow of the fallen officer is apparently denied the chance to testify. Maureen Faulkner, whose husband Daniel Faulkner was killed in 1981, was hoping to speak publicly on the case before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which plans to vote Thursday on the nomination of Debo Adegbile to lead the Civil Rights ...

So the Justice Department is investigating the Trayvon Martin case to see if his Civil Rights were violated. I wonder if they will investigate the 20 shootings in Chicago of unarmed black men.probably not.
I couldn't make this up. It came from a local newspaper, though it would certainly be worthy of The Onion. Forty-one years ago Orange County NC opened a landfill on Rogers Road to deal with waste from Chapel Hill. The landfill was closed a year ago. The USEPA is now prosecuting Orange Co. for."Environmental Racism" Perhaps this will free the Justice Department to clean up Jordan Lake. Rogers Road has been a traditionally Black neighborhood since well before I came to Chapel Hill in 1968, 45 years ago, and I have no doubt that the local Black community was shown no consideration in the placement of the facility. The placement of the dump was in my estimation an egregious violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and an affront to human dignity. That would seem to put it under the purview of the Justice Department. How did EPA appoint itself to prosecute? This could compromise to whole case.
Civil rights attorney John Burris, who helped Rodney King win his civil suit against the Los Angeles Police Department, says the move shows the Justice Department is taking its investigation into possible civil rights violations seriously.
When the Supreme Court decided to gut the Voting Rights Act last week, America lost a landmark piece of legislation that was pivotal in the fight against discrimination across the country. The ruling instantly became one of the single worst in American judicial history, and most Americans could not agree more. According to the latest ABC News-Washington Post poll, over half of Americans disagree with the high court’s decision to gut the Voting Rights Act. That number includes a whopping 71% of African-Americans, who initially fought for and achieved the passage of the act during the 1960s Civil Rights movement. Only 33% of Americans actually agree with the court’s decision. For over 40 years, the Voting Rights Act prevented states, mostly in the South, from discriminating against people of color to keep them from voting. The teeth of the law, known as Section 4, required states with a history of discriminatory policies to obtain pre-clearance from the Justice Department before any new laws could take ...

I Am always SO Happy to meet the cast and crew of Lawless America! :) We Are going to ROCK this Nation and take it by fire storm when hundreds of Us go to Washington in January!!! When I was finally successful through HUD FOIA to demand them to release My HUD 'Fair and Equal ' Housing report that erroneously and illegally concluded that I was not retaliated against, the HUD employee in Boston in charge of My request, God Bless Him, Ron Armstead, said that I created quite a fire storm at HUD. This was this past Spring and after over a years worth of repeated attempts, including demands all the way to HUD Secretary Donovan who I have made repeated attempts since May 20, 2011 to contact. This fire storm has made it all the way to President Obama who sent Me an e-mail from The White House last year telling Me to contact the Justice Department. I waited, as I take My direction from the Holy Spirit who guided Me to make that complaint to the Civil Rights Division that brought a complaint on behalf of the Latino ...

Senator Nelson Chief Critic of Voter Supression Law. One of the chief critics of the elections law has been and remains Nelson (D-FL). He asked Gov. Scott last year not to sign the bill after the Legislature passed it in May. He asked the U.S. Justice Department for an investigation into whether the law was deliberately intended to curb voting among young voters, seniors and minorities. He also brought the U.S. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights to Tampa to hold an investigative hearing on the law. The hearing was in January. And most recently Nelson joined critics of the law who are in a court case in Washington, D.C., seeking to strike other key parts of the statute, including a provision that shortens early voting days in Florida. Nelson has filed an Amicus, or friend of the court, brief [ attached in a word document ] in support of groups that want the law blocked.
Federal Prosecutors just completed a press conference announcing that the Justice Department has found that Shelby County Juvenile Court has violated the Civil Rights of numerous Black children , and that there is a wide disparity on the treatment of children there.
Tell Janet Napolitano to Stop Her Assault on English! Take Action! April 16, 2012 Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano recently released a public message asserting allegiance to President Bill Clinton’s Executive Order 13166, or Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency. EO 13166 says that any entity which receives federal funds must provide whatever services it offers in any foreign language spoken by anyone likely to receive those services. It says failure to do so is likely to constitute "discrimination on the basis of national origin" as prohibited by Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights law. Click the photo below to view which foreign languages DHS is favoring over others. The problem with DHS expanding its programs and activities in foreign languages is that there is no legal basis or rationale for doing so! EO 13166 is not the law, it is simply a decade-old Justice Department interpretation of the federal Civil Rights Act. EO 13166 enforceme ...
