Girl Scouts MOURN THE PASSING OF Juliette Low'S NIECE FROM: Anna Maria Chavez, National CEO DATE: July 9, 2013 SUBJECT: The Passing of Margaret Gordon “Peggy” Seiler I am writing with sad news. Yesterday, I learned of the passing of Margaret Gordon “Peggy” Seiler, the niece of our founder, Juliette Gordon Low, who died on Saturday morning, July 7, at her home in Virginia. She was 90 years old. Peggy lived a long and blessed life. She was born in the same Savannah, Georgia home as her Aunt Juliette, and she remained an integral part of the “Birthplace” all her life; championing the Girl Scout spirit and epitomizing the Girl Scout Promise and Law with her dedication to our Movement and the issues she felt strongly about. Like Juliette, Peggy was bold and audacious, determined to pave her own path and leave her world a better place than she found it. She graduated from the University of Virginia Law School in 1951 and served as the first female staff member of the Virginia Law Review. She practic ...

Answer 2 Wednesday's STUDENT EDITION Question: College Class of 1934, which effectively became the first class to include Girl Scouts. The scouting movement for girls was founded in 1912 in Savannah, GA, by Juliette Gordon Low (below), a friend of the Boy Scouts' founder, the Briton Robert Baden-Powell. The timing of the Girl Scouts was exquisite, for soon came World War I and the girls' valuable help in sewing uniforms, raising vegetables for extra food, assisting nurses, plus other activities in support of the American war effort. Today the Girl Scouts continue in sports, camping, and service.

What is the last square of the first four? Telfair Square St. James Square was named in honor of a green space in London, England and marked one of the most fashionable neighborhoods in early Savannah. It was renamed in 1883 to honour the Telfair family. It is the only square honoring a family rather than an individual. The Telfairs included former Governor Edward Telfair, Congressman Thomas Telfair (Edward Telfair's son), and Mary Telfair (1791–1875), benefactor of Savannah's Telfair Museum of Art. The square also contains tributes to the Girl Scouts of America, founded by Savannahian Juliette Gordon Low, and to the chambered nautilus. Telfair Square is located on Barnard, between State and York Streets.

Best Things to Do in Savannah Much of Savannah’s charm lies in meandering through the Historic District’s verdant squares -- all 22 of them. Along the way, you’ll happen on numerous historic homes like the Mercer Williams House, popularized by Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, and the Juliette Gordon Low home. There’s the famous Bonaventure Cemetery for a Spanish moss-canopied stroll, and there’s the City Market, which is an ideal place to pick up a few souvenirs. You can also take a quick car ride over to the beach at Tybee Island. .and don't forget to book a room at relaxinnsavannah.com.
Home from a four day trip with my grandaughter's Girl Scout troop to Savannah GA Went to Juliette Gordon Low's bithplace, a Dolphin sighting, the riverwalk and the beach at Tybee Island. My daughter Beth and her 2 girls went- I was the tag along with Amanda the 6 yr old.
Survived yesterday :) Did a travel trip I am calling Taste of Savannah. The girls and parents that went with me LOVED it! We rode the dotShuttle (free) around Savannah; visited First Headquarters; Had a late lunch at The Shrimp Co on River Street; explored the History Museum of Savannah and it's Women of Savannah exhibit staring Juliette Gordon Low. Experienced the wildest bus ride - the bus driver eventually explained he was having difficulty with the bus and parked it until a new one was sent. Yep it was a great trip and we all had a blast. Thank you Jami Brantley and your wonderful helpers!! We will be back to do a program at First Headquarters. On our list that we did not visit - The Birthplace, the Ferry and the Street Car so that we will do next time!
