In Snooker, the World Championship first round action continues at the Crucible. Judd Trump beat Tom Ford 10-8 to book a last 16 meeting with Ryan Day, while Barry Hawkins has beaten David Gilbert 10-4 and will next play Ricky Walden. This afternoon, Neil Robertson begins against Robbie Williams and Marco Fu resumes 6-3 up on Martin Gould. This evening Antrim’s Mark Allen resumes 5-4 up on Michael Holt.
Stephen Maguire likes to get on with it, so being in the section of the draw with the likes of Judd Trump and Mark Allen will be pleasing to him. Of course, there is still a possibility that he could face his first round nemesis of 2013 again this year, as Dechawat Poomjaeng is still battling through the qualifiers as I post this. In all honesty, I believe that Maguire has missed his opportunities to become World Champion, and I won't be getting involved at odds of 33/1.

UK Championship: Ricky Walden ends Ding Junhui's unbeaten run World number three Ding Junhui's hopes of winning a fourth consecutive ranking title came to an end with a 6-4 loss to Ricky Walden at the UK Championship. Walden will meet Mark Allen in the quarter-finals after he beat 2011 champion Judd Trump 6-4. Four-time UK champion Ronnie O'Sullivan thrashed Robert Milkins 6-0. O'Sullivan, the reigning World Champion, will play Stuart Bingham in the last eight after the Englishman beat David Morris 6-1. Ding's demise Image of John Parrott John Parrott Former snoooker World Champion and BBC Sport analyst "It's unbelievable the way that last frame ended. Ding has been on an incredible run, winning three tournaments consecutively, but I don't think I've ever seen him miss a pink like that. He was laughing himself - I bet he couldn't believe it." Elsewhere, defending champion ...

Trump to be king in Haikou World Open Snooker gets under way in Haikou, China on Monday morning where defending champion Mark Allen is a best-priced 13/1 (youwin) shot. I was impressed with Judd Trump in Newport last week at the Welsh Open. There have been questions raised about his recent performances - notably from Clive Everton in Snooker Scene analysing why the world number one may have temporarily lost his way even though in the last five major ranking events he has reached at least the semi-final stage in three of them. This is the form that has seen him back to the top of the... ~SportsMan

Judd Trump stages a comeback for the second day in a row to beat Mark Allen and reach the last eight of the Shanghai Masters.
He was 2-0 down against the pistol, and brought his game up, just when it was required; inch perfect and fully focused ton against Mark Allen but a bit shame that he missed a total clearance of 133, which would've been the highest of the tournament so far
Joe Perry takes on Neil Robertson or wildcard entrant Chen Feilong and Mark Allen's last 16 opponent will be Judd Trump or Barry Hawkins.
