Don’t Sweat It, Rest! Ruth 3:18 18Then she said, “Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day.” God does not want you to “sweat”. Sweat here does not refer to your body’s perspiration, but your self-reliance or self-effort. God does not want you to believe that if you don’t do anything, nothing will happen. That may be true for someone without God in his life, but it is not true for you because you have God. And when He is in the picture, the God-factor changes everything! When you are resting in God, He works for you. In fact, when He works, you end up with more. He is the one who is giving to you. It is not about you trying to give to yourself. This was what happened to Ruth in the Old Testament. After laboring in the barley fields from morning to evening, she was able to glean one ephah of barley (Ruth 2:17), which was equivalent to a 10-day supply of barley. Certainly, this amount was a blessing ...
God Can Qualify The Disqualified who [the Lord] redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Psalm 103:4 Four women are mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus. (Matthew 1:1–16) Interestingly, they are not Sarah, Rebekah, Leah or Rachel, wives of the patriarchs of the Old Testament. Instead, they are Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and Bathsheba, women who had morally questionable backgrounds. Tamar resorted to deception and prostitution to produce children through her father-in-law. Yet, it was from her line, the tribe of Judah, that the Messiah came. (Genesis 38) Rahab was a Gentile and a prostitute in Jericho, who became a believer in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (Joshua 2:1–21) She also became the mother of Boaz, who married Ruth. (Ruth 4:13) Ruth was morally upright. But as a Moabitess, she was a Gentile and therefore considered unclean. Yet, she became the grandmother of David (Ruth 4:13– 17), whom the Jews regard as their greatest king. Bathsheba committed ...

Revelation! Revelation! Pastor Joseph Prince YOUR STANDING IS WRAPPED UP IN JESUS HEBREWS 2:17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. In the Old Testament, the Israelites’ standing as a nation before God was wrapped up in the standing of their High Priest. What the High Priest was before God, so was the entire nation before God. If the High Priest sinned, he brought guilt on his nation, and God would reject the entire nation no matter how law-abiding the people were or how faithful they were in bringing their sacrifices. Conversely, if their High Priest was without fault and acceptable to God, God would accept the whole nation even if the people were sinful. Unfortunately, the High Priests of Israel often failed because like any human being, they were imperfect. Thank God that today, you and I have Jesus as our High Priest, who is 100 per cent Man and ...
Daily Devotional Verse: ~Joseph Prince~ Your Sins Are Not Being Recorded Hebrews 8:12 NKJV 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” I once read a comic book that showed how a man lusted after a woman, then died of a heart attack and went to heaven. In heaven, he saw a big screen showing everyone present a recording of all the sins that he had committed while on earth, including the last one. How embarrassing! Don’t worry, that is not going to happen to you in heaven. There is no big screen with front-row and circle seats for everyone to sit and watch your past sins. There is no video recorder in heaven recording your sins right now. Because your lifetime of sins has already been punished in the body of Jesus, God declares to you, “Your sins and lawless deeds, I will by no means ever remember!” This is true even for the Old Testament heroes of faith such as Abraham, Moses and David. If you read Hebrews 11, which was writte ...
(teaching from the ministry of Joseph Prince)--"Old Testament typology: Abraham = faith, Sarah = grace (free woman), Hagar = law (slave woman), Isaac = laughter.faith + grace = laughter...the Church has One Father but two mothers (Sarah & Hagar) in OT typology...law persecutes grace"...knowing this helps to unlock complex Scriptures: Galatians 4:21-31 amplified Tell me, you who are bent on being under the Law, will you listen to what the Law [really] says? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondmaid and one by the free woman. But whereas the child of the slave woman was born according to the flesh and had an ordinary birth, the son of the free woman was born in fulfillment of the promise. Now all this is an allegory; these [two women] represent two covenants. One covenant originated from Mount Sinai [where the Law was given] and bears [children destined] for slavery; this is Hagar. Now Hagar is (stands for) Mount Sinai in Arabia and she corresponds to and belongs in the same category ...
Another incarnation of Jesus is the Old Testament figure known asMelchizedek, the High Priest and King of Salem. It is clear from the Book of Hebrews that Melchizedek was not an ordinary man, assuming he even was a man. A careful examination of the evidence concerning the existence of Melchizedek re...
Joseph Prince's Daily Devotion You Have A Strong Kinsman-Redeemer! Jeremiah 50:34 "Their Redeemer is strong; the Lord of hosts is His name. He will thoroughly plead their case..." Ruth, a young, poor and childless widow in the Old Testament, lay at the feet of Boaz, her potential kinsman-redeemer. (Ruth 3:7) As a rich and close relative of her in-laws, Boaz had the power to redeem her from her plight. Ruth was simply obeying Naomi, her mother-in-law, who had told her to go and lie down at Boaz’s feet. In the Jewish custom of those days, this was a posture that said, “Please redeem me for you are a close relative.” Notice Boaz’s response to Ruth: “And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you all that you request…” (Ruth 3:11) Beloved, Boaz is a picture of Jesus who is our kinsman-redeemer. He is our kinsman, having been born into this world as one like us. And He is our Redeemer because He redeemed us at a great price when He shed His blood for us on the cross. As your Redeemer, not o ...
Meditate On …the Lord will bless His people with peace [shalom]. Psalm 29:11 Jesus’ Shalom Is Yours! The Hebrew word shalom, which is usually translated as “peace” in the Old Testament, is a very rich word. It doesn’t just mean “peace of mind.” It also means health, good success, safety and one’s total wellness. Now, do you know that the root word of shalom is shalam? Shalam means to make good, to pay or to recompense. So my friend, the reason you can walk in God’s shalom today is that Jesus through the cross has paid for it to be yours. Health, provision, safety and a mind that is sharp and sound are yours for the taking because Jesus has purchased shalom for you with His blood! Beloved, I encourage you to meditate on this. Thank God for His perfect sacrifice of His Son and say, “Father, I receive the shalom that Jesus died to give me—peace of mind, wholeness, provision and health in every cell, every organ, every function of my body, and for every area of my life!” Amen! Now, exp ...

"All that Jesus is, God meant for you to be. All that He has, God meant for you to have. All the exciting things that you read in the Bible about Jesus, all the treasures of Him hidden in the Old Testament and the unsearchable riches in Him that you find in the New Testament, all of that life of His, is not out there somewhere. God has deposited all of it in you, so that you can live the abundant life that Jesus came to give you!"~Joseph Prince~
☀Ruth in the Old Testament was possibly at the lowest point of her life just before she met Boaz. All the natural factors were against her. She was a poor widow, and she was a Moabitess, a Gentile in the Jewish nation of Israel. But she trusted God for favor when she went looking for a field to glean in. She said to Naomi, “Please let me go to the field, and glean heads of grain after him in whose sight I may find favor”. (Ruth 2:2) Then, the Bible tells us that she happened to come to the part of the field that belonged to Boaz. And to cut the long story short, Boaz saw Ruth, fell in love with her and married her. Noticed what Ruth was conscious of? Favor! She wasn’t conscious of her natural circumstances that were against her. And because of that, her situation was turned around completely. Beloved, when you approach your situation today, be conscious of the Lord’s favor that is all over you! His favor will cause you to be at the right place at the right time, and say the right things at the r ...
In case you needed a reminder. Don’t Fear The Famine or Lack Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. Isaiah 60:1–2 Do you believe that you can experience the most increase when the world is experiencing famine? My friend, famines have been around since the time of the Old Testament patriarchs. But the good news is that God always takes good care of His people. Abraham had more than enough during a time of famine. His son, Isaac, had enough to sow during a time of famine and reaped a hundredfold. In fact, Isaac began to experience the most abundant increase and provision during the time of famine. That’s God’s style. All glory goes to Him when you and your loved ones are provided for during a famine. Beloved, fear not, but be confident and assured that Jesus will lead you into new levels of success and bless ...
Beloved, don’t sacrifice hearing for doing. In the Old Testament, the Israelites made the golden calf from gold earrings. Gold in the Bible speaks of divinity and earrings, hearing. Together they speak of divine hearing. The calf is an animal of labor. In other words, by worshipping the golden calf, the Israelites were worshipping the god of labor and sacrificing divine hearing for doing. That is what a lot of Christians are doing today. They focus on doing and sacrifice hearing. Joseph Prince
Jesus Can Identify With Your Pain Leviticus 2:4 4‘And if you bring as an offering a grain offering baked in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil. Private pains, deep hurts, shameful addictions. You may think that nobody understands what you are going through, but God does. He can identify with all your pains and is able to help you. (Hebrews 2:18, 4:15) In the Old Testament, the grain offering brought to God speaks of Jesus’ life on earth. The fine flour, which the grain offering is made with, is flour that has been pounded, ground, beaten and sifted through to get it consistently even and fine. Therefore, it typifies the humanity and sufferings of Jesus. One of the ways the Jewish women prepared the grain offering was to bake it. The baking done in the depths of the oven speaks of the “hidden” sufferings that Jesus went though. I believe that Jesus faced sufferings that we cannot fully understand. Even as a young boy, He must ...
Speak Blessings Over Your Family Psalm 5:12 12 For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield. What do you believe and say to your loved ones every day? For orthodox Jews, on Friday evenings in their homes, the father lays his hands on his children and pronounces God’s blessings over them. No wonder Jewish children grow up to be winners in the fight of life! They become some of the world’s greatest inventors, bankers, musicians and entertainers. Although a minority race, the Jews have produced the most number of Nobel Prize winners. I believe that it is because they bless their children in the same way the patriarchs of the Old Testament did. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob released God’s blessings upon their children by laying hands on them and speaking forth the blessings. (Genesis 27:27–29, 38–40; 48:14–16) In the New Testament, the apostles pronounced blessings over the churches they were preaching to. To the church in Philippi, Paul declared, “And ...

Joseph Prince Have you been to a worship service where you stood with your hands raised, ready to worship God, only to hear the worship leader say, ‚"Before we worship God, let's all search our hearts‚"? Then, as you search your heart, before long, you dig up something that you don't like. The next thing you know, your hands are no longer raised and soon, you find yourself sitting down - you don't feel good worshiping God any more. My friend, I have good news for you. Come and worship Him as you are. Come into God's presence Jesus-conscious, forgiveness-conscious and grace- conscious! Come into God's presence bringing only Jesus the spotless Lamb of God as your offering. Your worshiping God is like the times God's people in the Old Testament brought their offerings to the priest. The priest examined the animal sacrifice to ensure that it was without blemish. The priest did not examine the sinner. If the animal was without blemish, God accepted the animal sacrifice as well as the offerer who brought th ...
