Report: Baltimore Orioles likely out of Jon Lester sweepstakes SI.com Heyman reported earlier in the day that the Dodgers, Pirates, Brewers, and Orioles are among the "leaders" to land Lester. Baltimore reportedly does not want to give up its best pitching prospects, including Kevin Gausman,...
THE NATIONAL SNUB: I've always felt like the Baltimore Orioles and our fans have had a justifiable chip on our collective shoulder. The National media (ESPN especially) loves to focus on the Yankees and the Red Sox. And not without good reason. These are two top franchises in big media markets with huge fan bases. When these teams do well, more people watch Nationally televised games and ESPN rakes in the ratings dollars. In a league that isn't producing many marketable stars, it's all about the big brands and the big rivalries. That is to say, after Derek Jeter goes, baseball does not have Lebron James or Peyton Manning. No real stars in the fold. I know stars and story lines drive the baseball conversation, but it's time that the 2014 Orioles get their air time. Listening to ESPN radio and watching their various talking heads on TV today, the line went something like this: David Price trades, Jon Lester trades, Rays huge win streak and impending comeback, David Ortiz is a big *** Derek Jeter's newe ...
Boston Red Sox are not expected to pursue RHP Masahiro Tanaka. The Red Sox currently have six starters for five spots, including Jon Lester, John Lackey, Jake Peavy, Clay Buchholz, Felix Doubront, & Ryan Dempster. The Mariners, Yankees, Cubs, & Dodgers are still viewed as the most likely suitors for Tanaka. Tanaka's contract is expected to be around a six year deal worth around $100 million dollars, plus an additional $20 million must be paid to the Rakuten Golden Eagles. Free agent RHP Kyle Farnsworth is drawing interest from a few teams. Reports show that six to eight teams are interested in Farnsworth. Farnsworth went 3-1 with a 4.70 ERA in 48 games between the Rays & Pirates in 2013. Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians, & Baltimore Orioles are among the teams that have shown interest in signing free agent RHP Luis Ayala. Ayala went 2-1 with a 3.27 ERA in 39 games between the Orioles & Braves in 2013. St. Louis Cardinals RHP Jason Motte is expected to be behind the normal spring training schedule for pit ...

I hereby salute the Baltimore Orioles for overcoming 2 epic feats of ineptitude this week. First of all, with their 82nd win of the 2012 season back on Sunday, they clinched their first winning season since 1997. Secondly, tonight, they beat Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester for the first time in his career. Lester had gone 14-0 against the O's prior to tonight, which was the longest winning streak of any current pitcher against any single team.
After posting a 14-0 mark in his first 20 career starts against the Baltimore Orioles, Jon Lester picked up his first loss against them.
The 42-37 Boston Red Sox will wrap up their west coast road trip with a three-game series against the 38-42 Oakland Athletics from July 2 to 4.
