Frankie Ballard’s work is rarely written about without mentioning his influences — Bob Seger, John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, the Eagles — and …
The political views of musicians don't matter to me. For ex: I enjoy Bob Seger, Bon Jovi, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp.
On the next Acoustic Storm, we'll celebrate American independence with artists born in the USA, including Bob Seger in the Eye of The Storm. You'll also hear acoustic versions from Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Jimi Hendrix, Heart, John Mellencamp, and many more. If I try to picture John Mellencamp, Bruce Springstein, or Bob Seger in my mind I just see the same old white dude in a denim vest.
I'm watching the Rolling Stones return to Hyde Park concert. Somethings been lost in today's music. The Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top, Chicago, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers, Bob Seger, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Black Crowes, Delbert McClinton, Elvis Pressley, Jimmy Buffet, John Mellencamp, Johnny Cash, Tina Turner, just to name a few ! There is a void where they left off. The world is full of one-hit wonders now. Make millions, show your *** ,go to rehab ,go out as a nobody that played music with no meaning or feeling. Give me back my rock and soul, blues and music that meant something, and just kept coming hit after hit.
**Completed** **Tom Petty** ***LIST 20*** What's more significant, what's a bigger honor: being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or being a member of the Traveling Wilburys? Surely if your in the latter your in the former but the reverse is not true, so I guess being a Traveling Wilbury is a higher honor. This rocker is both which puts him in very rare company. Just about every locality on the globe has its local favorite-son street poet. Very few rise to international fame; Bruce from NJ, Bob Seger from Detroit, John Mellencamp from the hearland, Billy Joel from the island, Chrissie from Cleveland, etc. The list is not long. Southern Florida has Jimmy Buffet, but make no mistake, northern Florida belongs to Thomas Earl Petty. With or without his Heartbreakers, Mr. Petty has woven ballads, screamers and social commentaries that clearly displayed a rare mastery of lyric and melody. Enjoy this list of people, places, things, images and quotations from the lyrics of Mr. Petty. Please limit your enthu ...

Day 23: I am thankful for the following rock and roll acts I have gotten to see and some were on my music bucket list. Here they are in no particular order. Most of you ROCK fans will know these: Blackfoot-2times, Aerosmith-3times, Def Leppard-2times, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Journey, REO Speedwagon-2times, The Moody Blues-2times, Night Ranger-2times, Bob Seger-2times, John Mellencamp-2times, Chicago, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Foreigner, Styx-3times, Blue Oyster Cult, Ted Nugent, Jefferson Starship, Iron Maiden, Twisted Sister, John Fogerty, Ratt. This is all I can remember right now. May have a flashback and remember more. Do you think I could make a Greatest Hits CD out of this group of artists?
Presidential campaign promise All Super Bowl halftime shows will be performed by someone that actually makes you think about football or the city the game is being played. What makes more sense, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, or LL Cool J singing "Momma Said Knock You Out" in the middle of a football game? This season's game is being played (as the NFL puts it) in New York/New Jersey and we get Bruno Mars. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind his music, but it doesn't make me think football. It makes me think overplayed, overproduced, and autotuned. NY/NJ should have had Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, or a hologram of Frank Sinatra instead of someone from Hawaii. Game in Detroit, Kid Rock and Bob Seger. Game in New Orleans, jazz music. Game in Seattle, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam. Game in Arizona, Dierks Bentley. Indianapolis, John Mellencamp, *** Mars, and David Lee Roth. Or go back to having college marching bands like they did in the beginning. No more 'N Sync, Madonna, LMFAO, Janet Jack ...
I wonder if people who drive big trucks brag about their torque and payloads and towing capacity to other people who drive big trucks and if they hum Bob Seger or John Mellencamp tunes while they work and a if flag flutters in the wind behind them on the job site and if they occasionally take breaks in slow motion and clap each other on the shoulder and clouds of dusty dust billow from their manly leather work gloves and if they expect to have apple pie when they get home because omg truck commercials

DUSTY’S 2013 MUSIC PREVIEW…The Final Chapter: The Rest, The Reissues, & The Rumors. I am not sure what to make of it, but I can’t wait to hear John Mellencamp, T Bone Burnette, & Stephen King’s “Ghost Brothers Of Darkland County”, a musical, which will see it’s soundtrack, featuring Mellencamp, Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello, Neko Case, and more, will be released this June. On the heavy side, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, and Sammy Hagar are all wrapping up new studio albums for later in the year. Amos Lee has a live DVD scheduled for the spring. Bob Seger has been working from time to time on a new record, and has a pretty big tour this spring into summer. Perhaps a new album for it, or soon after? The rumors are that U2 will unleash their latest this fall, and will this be the year the 3rd Steve Perry solo album finally sees the light of day? He’s been working on that longer than Axl worked on ‘Chinese Democracy”. Speaking of Axl, a 25th anniversary edition of Guns N’ Roses “Appetite ...

I was asked, what are my 3 or 4 or 5 favorite albums? I named an easy dozen immediately, ignoring the confines of the question as I tend to do. And then I proceeded to consider another two dozen-ish and then I figured okay, let's try this for real. In no real order, here are my 40 favorite albums.I know, I know, as if you care. I just want this somewhere for posterity, I left out a lot (A WHOLE LOT!) but I think if I could only have 40, these would be it Toys in the Attic - Aerosmith. Eat A Peach - The Allman Brothers. The Last Waltz - The Band. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan. Night Moves - Bob Seger. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen. The Trinity Session - Cowboy Junkies. The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie. The Doors - The Doors. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John. Armed Forces - Elvis Costello. A Trick of the Tail - Genesis.
