Fun Fact of the Day: The day after John Lennon was assassinated Yoko Ono requested that people honor John with a moment of silence. What most don't know is that every single radio station in New York City suspended all broadcasts for ten minutes as well. That means that had you been listening to your radio you would find Dead Air on every station. Pretty cool, huh?

IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is an outdoor work of art conceived by Yoko Ono in memory of John Lennon. It is situated on Viðey Island in Reykjavík, Iceland. The artwork was dedicated to John by Yoko at its unveiling on October 9th 2007, John Lennons 67th birthday. IMAGINE PEACE TOWER symbolizes Lennons and Onos continuing campaign for world peace - which began in the sixties, was sealed by their marriage in 1969 and will continue forever. The words IMAGINE PEACE are inscribed on the Well in 24 different languages. IMAGINE PEACE TOWER is composed of a tall shimmering tower of light that will appear every year and be visible from October 9th (Johns birthday) until December 8th (the anniversary of his passing). In addition, the Tower will illuminate from Winter Solstice (December 21st 28th), on New Years Eve (December 31st) and the first week of spring (March 21st -28th). I have to say that the parole of Mark David Chapman being denied his release from jail for the 8th time is not a shock to me. I mean he shot John Lennon to death, in an act of cold blooded murder, even after John was kind to him earlier the same day, he does not deserve to be free. I am sure John Lennon would agree, also Yoko Ono and Sean will keep on fighting it as long as they both live. Besides if Mark was ever let out in the world he would not last long, he would be found dead at some point shortly after I am sure. RIP John!! Miss You!! XO
Here are current stories about Oldies Artists in the News: Mark Chapman, murderer of John Lennon, was denied parole for the eighth time Friday (August 22). He had been interviewed earlier in the week by New York prison officials. John’s widow, Yoko Ono, wrote a letter to the parole board reaffirming her belief that the 59 year-old Chapman should not be released. He was sentenced to 20-years-to-life in jail for the 1980 slaying. His next chance for parole will be in two years

As the world community increasingly understands that “Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives,” as legendary human rights defender, singer/songwriter John Lennon once said, one can still see many people who find ‘Living Is Easy With Eyes Closed,’ as he also asserted. The life of John Lennon clearly showed signs Targeted Indivudals experience, from his being one of the most compassionate persons working for the betterment of humanity, to being secretly targeted, gangstalked and assassinated. Lennon’s works toward a more just world were reflected in his rebellious nature against the violent status quo, as demonstrated through his political and peace activism. He moved to Manhattan in 1971, where his criticism of the Vietnam War resulted in Richard Nixon’s lengthy attempt to deport him as the anti-war movements were adopting some of his songs as their anthems. Lennon’s charisma and influence were sweeping the globe. [Watch video of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in the TV interview ...

Some photos of Paul Mccartney with Julian Lennon. In the third photo it is Paul holding Jules hand instead of John, who walks behind them. The writing of 'Hey Jude" "Hey Jude" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by Paul Mccartney. The ballad evolved from "Hey Jules", a song McCartney wrote to comfort John Lennon's son, Julian, during his parents' divorce. In 1968, John Lennon and his wife Cynthia Lennon separated due to John's affair with Yoko Ono. Soon afterwards, Paul Mccartney drove out to visit Cynthia and Lennon's son, Julian. "We'd been very good friends for millions of years and I thought it was a bit much for them suddenly to be personae non gratae and out of my life," McCartney said.Cynthia Lennon recalled, "I was truly surprised when, one afternoon, Paul arrived on his own. I was touched by his obvious concern for our welfare ... On the journey down he composed 'Hey Jude' in the car. I will never forget Paul's gesture of care and concern in coming to see us. When David Sheff interviewed John Lennon (the infamous Playboy Interviews) he asked John "What's so unthinkable that the Fab Four get back together to make some music?" John replied "Talking about the Beatles getting back together is an illusion. That was ten years ago. The Beatles only exist on film and on record and in people's minds. You can not get back together what no longer exists. We are not those four people anymore. Anyway, why should I go back ten years to provide... to provide an illusion which I know doesn't exist?" Sheff pressed on, saying "Forget the illusion. What about just to make some music?" to which John replied, "Why should the Beatles give more? Didn't they give everything on God's earth for ten years? Didn't they give THEMSELVES? Didn't they give all? On one hand, you're like the typical love/hate fan that says "Thank you for everything you did for us in the 60's. Will you give me another go, another chance? Just one more miracle? I didn't get enough the first time." Later, Sheff a ...

She met communard Rainer Langhans at a concert at the end of 1968 and she soon moved from Munich to the Berlin-based Kommune 1 after Langhans became her boyfriend. They talked openly to the media about their relationship, becoming symbols of the sexual revolution. They became the German version of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Kommune 1 was the first politically motivated commune in Germany, and Obermaier's name is most intimately connected with the 1960s student rebellions in the minds of many Germans.[4] However, she later said ...

Yoko Ono and John Lennon, one of my favorite couples of all time.
They started it all. They changed the sound of Rock n' Roll and became the gods of music. Lennon summarized his feelings towards McCartney in an interview three days before his death: "“Well, he’s like a brother. I love him. Families - we certainly have our ups and downs and our quarrels. But at the end of the day, when it’s all said and done, I would do anything for him, I think he would do anything for me. Throughout my career, I've selected to work with only two people: Paul Mccartney and Yoko Ono... that ain't bad picking." Paul Mccartney on John Lennon: "I talked to Yoko the day after [John] was killed and the first thing she said to me was, ‘John was really fond of you.’ The last telephone conversation I had with him, we were still the best of mates. He was always a very warm guy, John. His bluff was all on the surface. He used to take his glasses down - those granny glasses - and say, ‘It’s only me.’ They were like a wall, you know? A shield. And as part of this gathering, which we actually view as a funeral for the tree, we will be singing the John Lennon song, with one minor alteration. Our version will be: “All we are saying, is give trees a chance!” So please familiarize yourselves with the tune and join us as we voice our disapproval. A formal application has been made to the Howick Municipality for a peaceful gathering, and has been approved. The SAPS and the traffic authorities will be in attendance, and there is plenty of parking space on the wide curbs of Doreen Av. We need to spea ...

She moved to New York City to pursue a singing career, and lived with her cousin, actor Rip Torn before High School graduation. In 1968, under the name “Rainbow”, she recorded the single "John, You've Gone Too Far This Time," which gently chided John Lennon for appearing nude on the cover of the album “Two Virgins” with Yoko Ono. She slowly gravitated from music to acting while in New York and began working on stage and television. John Lennon and Yoko Ono Get Animated About Real Love: The ballad of John Lennon and Yoko Ono is one made up of profound love, timeless music and questionable album artwork. Now, with a little help from your friends at PBS, a rare interview with the couple discussing their infamously intimate relationship has been released and re-imagined in an animated interpretation for the Blank on Blank series See also: Oh! This Tribute to 'Abbey Road' Is Darling The series aims to "curate and transform journalists' unheard interviews with American icons." Other icons featured so far have included Jerry Garcia, Grace Kelly and Maurice Sedak. Audio of Lennon and Ono is taken from a conversation with journalist Howard Smith in 1969. While the rockstar and artist elaborate on their unique marriage and perspective on life, the animation flows through with fanciful visuals for each turn of phrase and metaphor Read more...More about Viral Videos, Animation, Pbs, The Beatles, and John Lennon
The Bob Gruen show was so enjoyable, that we might have another one around Christmas time . Bob and his wife Elizabeth are the sweetest people , and Bob is as much of a walking encyclopedia of Rock &Roll history as my other photographer friend Robert Knight . It takes a special kind of personality to be able to cultivate a deep and friendly relationship, with characters such as John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Tina Turner, Debbie Harry , Iggy Pop , Lou Reed, Alice Copper, Courtney Love , the Clash, the Ramones , the Rolling Stones and Kiss ….to name a few . Thank you everyone who showed up . See you next time ! G Special thanks to Stephen Holding a great Maui photographer, who kindly covered the event . Aloha .
Just watched two interviews on Youtube. One with Julian Lennon and the other with Sean Lennon. What a contrast. Julian was polite, humble, intelligent, and gracious. Sean was a spoiled, pompous *** Julian's mother is Cynthia Powell, John Lennon's first wife. Sean's mother is Yoko Ono, John Lennon's last wife. It all makes sense now. I chose Julian.

Happy Birthday: Danny Krivit (Apr. 10, 1957) Growing up in Greenwich Village, New York City, in the 60's, Danny was surrounded by music. His mother was an accomplished Jazz singer and his father was the manager of legendary Jazz trumpeter Chet Baker before going on to open up “The Ninth Circle”, a Village hot spot, where Danny worked as a boy. It was here that Danny met some of the most influential people in the music scene; Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Mingus, John Lennon & Yoko Ono, amongst others. His home was also a hotbed of musical inspiration, with The Mothers of Invention living down the hall, and Sid Bernstein (Manager of The Rascals) living upstairs, the Rascals would regularly pop down to the Krivit household to practice their future hits on the piano. Starting his professional DJ career in 1971 Danny is currently celebrating 43 years as a NYC DJ & has enjoyed many highlights, just to name a few: Like the summer of 2003 at Museum Of Modern Art's PS1 in NY, playing for an incredible 5 ...
THE LIFE, MUSIC & TIMES OF Julian Lennon: The Wikipedia Biography edited and augmented by TBU Managing Editor - Mike Montana. John Charles Julian Lennon came into the world on April 8th in 1963. He is the only child of John Lennon and Cynthia Powell. The Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein, was his godfather. Julian was the direct inspiration for three Beatles' songs: "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", "Hey Jude" and "Good Night". Julian Lennon was born in Liverpool. Initially, the fact that John Lennon was married and had a child was concealed from the public, in keeping with the conventional wisdom of the era that female teenage fans would not be as enamoured of married male pop stars. Julian inspired one of his father's most famous songs, by bringing home a painting from his early schooldays. When John asked him what it was called, Julian responded "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds". Following his father's infidelity with Yoko Ono,his parents divorced when he was five. Paul Mccartney wrote "Hey Jude" to cons .. ...

THE POWER OF PUBLISHING: HOW Michael Jackson ENDED UP OWNING THE BEATLES SONG CATALOGUE (A MUST READ!) The year was 1984 and an Australian business tycoon named Robert Holmes à Court had just announced that he was putting The Beatles music catalogue up for sale. Technically Robert Holmes à Court was selling a company called ATV Music Publishing which owned roughly 4000 songs including, most notably, a company called Northern Songs which was the Music Publishing arm of The Beatles. Thanks to an absolutely terrible contract that John Lennon and Paul Mccartney signed in the beginning of their career, Northern Songs owned the publishing rights to more than 250 Beatles songs, including all of their most popular hits from the height of Beatlemania. By 1984, Paul Mccartney and John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono had been given at least two opportunities to purchase the catalogue, but both times they passed, thinking the $40 million price tag was too high. When Robert Holmes à Court purchased ATV Music in 1984, McCar ...

John Lennon's Killer Denied Parole For Sixth Time Mark David Chapman, the man who killed John Lennon, was denied parole for a sixth time on Sept. 7, 2010. A New York State Division of Parole board denied Chapman request "due to concern for the public safety and welfare." Chapman, 55, has been eligible for parole since 2000. He can apply for conditional release every two years. The next time he'll go before a parole board will be August of 2012. "I felt that by killing John Lennon I would become somebody and instead of that I became a murderer and murderers are not somebodies," Chapman told the parole board. "I made a horrible decision to end another human being's life for reasons of selfishness, and that was my decision at that time." Chapman's parole was opposed by Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono. Ono, who witnessed her husband getting shot, has been adamantly against Chapman's release from the beginning. In 2006, she purchased one-page advertisements in several newspapers saying she hadn't yet forgiven Chapman ...

Girl we could be like John Lennon and Yoko Ono
i mean... think about it. if we are "only human" and "people make mistakes", then why don't we just let our partner/spouse cheat??? Yoko Ono realized that John Lennon really wanted to cheat, so she let him and as far as she knew, he didn't do it anymore, didn't have the urge, n then he was murdered however many years later. Can this not work? Giving them a "day pass" to get over urges? I mean, after all, we're only human. right? :) and go!

For Valentine's Day we took a straw poll and asked:``Who are some of the world's greatest romantic couples?'' We came up with the following, in no particular order: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Victoria and David Beckham, Princess Kate and Prince William, Yoko Ono and John Lennon, Queen Victoria and Albert, Wallace Simpson and Prince Edward Duke of Windsor, Gertrude Stein and Alice B Toklas, Elton John and David Furnish. Aussies: Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton, Dame Edna Everage and Norm, Gough and Margaret Whitlam. “Why does everyone idolize Yoko Ono and John Lennon? They were pretty terrible human beings 😕” please tell me you're kidding
This guy at work today had the nerve to say Yoko Ono broke up the Beatles. With me coming from a family full of women and being raised by them, saying this around me is like jumping into a pool of piranhas. I started going, sarcastically, yeah, Yoko administered an official ultimatum to the British Parliament mandating that the musical group The Beatles be immediately disbanded. The guy answered by claiming that Yoko prompted John Lennon to write a song that compared the sociologically relegated plight of women to that of black people, to which I responded that it's not the semantical meaning of Lennon's lyrics which had made him famous and successful in the first place, it's the incredible amount of originality, artistic sacrifice and pop acumen, not to mention general trippiness of the music itself, that has endeared him to all of us. Hopefully I set the record straight. We're livin' in chains, people, if we're sexist. On that note, I was looking for a good bio on John Lennon, and couldn't really find o ...

Bands that passed on playing at Woodstock Declined invitations and missed connections Bob Dylan, in whose "backyard" the festival was held, was never in serious negotiation. Instead, Dylan signed in mid-July to play the Isle of Wight Festival of Music, on August 31. Dylan set sail for England on Queen Elizabeth 2 on August 15, the day the Woodstock Festival started. His son was injured by a cabin door and the family disembarked. Dylan, with his wife Sara, flew to England the following week. Dylan had been unhappy about the number of hippies piling up outside his house in the nearby town of Woodstock.[31] The Beatles/John Lennon:[32] There are two scenarios as to why The Beatles did not perform. The first is that promoters contacted John Lennon to discuss a Beatles performance at Woodstock, and Lennon said that the Beatles would not play unless there was also a spot at the festival for Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band, whereupon he was turned down.[33][unreliable source?] The website claims the more likely expl ...

Few artists reach the level of fame and fortune that John Lennon did. The former Beatle lead the world through many a revolution, be it musical or social. His songs are still popular around the world, as is his collaborative work with many of his famous friends. Despite his life in the limelight, there is still a lot left to know about this outspoken artist. Here are a few facts about John Lennon. 1. Lennon did not enter into a peaceful world, though he desperately tried to leave it that way.  He was born during a German air raid of England during World War II. 2. During the '60s, Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, were outspoken in their opposition of the war in Vietnam. They endured deportation threats as well as threats on both their lives. 3. In 1994, Mayor Ed Koch of New York dedicated a plot of land in Central Park to the memory of Lennon, which was named “Strawberry Fields.” It contains items from heads of state around the world. 4. During an 18-month period in 1973, Lennon left Yoko Ono for Los ...

Alejandro Jodorowsky’s trio of mind-bending classics, El Topo, The Holy Mountain and Fando Y Lis, were released on DVD in 2007 for the first time ever. These astonishing films, which have been fully restored and remastered, are available as a special limited edition collector’s box set featuring exclusive rare bonus materials. Originally released in 1970, El Topo quickly caught the imagination of movie audiences, becoming a landmark in independent film-making. The early screenings at New York’s Elgin Theater sparked the Midnight Movie phenomena, catalyzed by an endorsement from John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Classic Americana and avant-garde European sensibilities collide with Zen Buddhism and the Bible as master gunfighter and mystic El Topo (played by writer/director Alejandro Jodorowsky) tries to defeat four sharp-shooting rivals on a bizarre path to allegorical self-awareness and resurrection. As it seeks an alternative to the Hollywood mainstream, El Topo is also the most controversial quasi-Wes ...

This is a historic photo for two reasons: it was the first time that Yoko Ono appeared with John Lennon in public confirming that they were indeed an item. It was also Paul Mccartney's public outing without his then-fiance Jane Asher, the first indication the couple had broken up. I was asked to compile 10 books that have stayed with me in some way and not to take more than a few minutes and don't think too much about it. Not "right" or "great" works, just ones that have touched you. Don't worry about any particular order. Tag 10 friends, including me, so I will see your list. Here are the books I came up with after I turned off my brain for a minute: 1 Of Mice And Men by J Steinbeck, 2 The Playboy Interviews w/John Lennon & Yoko Ono by David Sheff & G. "PALOOKA & MYSELF : It's Us Against the World' Sensation" - By Torrie Venus - I went to sleep Sunday night extra early and woke up not too long ago, thinking it was nearly that time for Palooka to 'rise and shine' for work preparation. I've been wanting to watch the two part "Bonnie & Clyde," so lo and behold, there is time to do just that. In the serious relationships I've had in my life - including the dramatic, hot and hilarious nature of Palooka & myself, there has always been an aspect . ...

When John and Yoko relocated to New York in 1972, the house was sold to Ringo, who probably used the toilet as well. That means that this toilet might have support one half of the Beatle bums! One of the last projects mr lennon worked on.AND one of hi ...
