Founding board member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and author of theOklahoma Music Guide Dr. Hugh Foley says that Keltner’s status among rock drummers is unquestionable. “He is the session drummer of the rock and pop era, from the mid-1960s to the present day. That includes an incredible list of artists. It’s one of those jaw-droppers, whether it’s John Lennon or Ringo Starr or George Harrison, with whom he played on all significant tracks by those three former Beatles.” .

Early Cavern days Beatles' photograph up for auction One of the earliest photos of The Beatles in Liverpool's Cavern Club is being auctioned later this month. The picture and other recently unearthed snaps, were taken to The Beatles Shop in Liverpool. Shop manager Stephen Bailey said the owner told him: "My father was a professional photographer and these might be of interest to you." Taken in 1961, the Cavern photo features Paul Mccartney at the front of the stage, with Pete Best on drums. Best was replaced the following year by Ringo Starr. Mr Bailey said the man handed over a series of envelopes of transparencies which all turned out to be in perfect condition. Another shot shows George Harrison, John Lennon, McCartney and Best posing with six girls. Mr Bailey said after some research, he found it was taken on 14 June 1961, at St John's Hall, Tuebrook, Liverpool – the first gig the band played after returning from Hamburg. He has also traced two of the girls in the picture. One of the others has died ...

Have you ever wondered how a song or even a movie gets it's name? Here's a good example. After a long day of filming for their first movie, which was still titled Beatlemania!, The Beatles were relaxing (probably at a pub) when Ringo Starr declares, that it's been "a Hard Day's night." John Lennon immediately began writing the song of the same name on the back of an old greeting card. It became the title track and the title for the movie they were making.
John Lennon was once asked if Ringo Starr was the best drummer in the world to which he replied, 'best drummer in the world?, he's not the best drummer in The Beatles'. This is how I feel when people think Messi is the best footballer in the world.
1970: Paul Mccartney reacts angrily to a letter from John Lennon & George Harrison, delivered by Ringo Starr.
George Harrison (guitar, sitar, vocals), John Lennon (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Paul Mccartney (bass, guitar, keyboards, vocals), Ringo Starr (drums, percussion, vocals) The impact of the Beatles has often been noted but cannot be overstated. The “Fab Four” from Liverpool, England, startled the ears and energized the lives of virtually all who heard them. Their arrival triggered the musical revolution of the Sixties, introducing a modern sound and viewpoint that parted ways with the world of the previous decade. The pleasurable jolt at hearing “She Loves You” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand” - given the doldrums into which rock and roll had fallen in recent years - was comparable to the collective fever induced by Presley’s “That’s All Right” and “Heartbreak Hotel” nearly 10 years earlier. The Beatles’ music - with its simultaneous refinement (crisp harmonies, solid musicianship, canny pop instincts) and abandon (energetic singing and playing, much screaming and shaking of mop-to ...

Below from today's Trentonian at the request of Donna Csiz... Home Opinion Columnists JEFF EDELSTEIN: The Beatles are Trenton citizens forever By Jeff Edelstein, The Trentonian POSTED: 02/07/14, 12:04 PM EST | UPDATED: 1 MIN AGO As it turns out, Trenton has two more residents than previously believed. Their names are Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr. Yep. Those two Beatles — along with their deceased bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison — are honorary citizens of the capital city, having been given the official title 50 years ago as a direct result of a 14-year-old girl and her 11-year-old cousin “The idea? It just came to me,” said Eileen Smith, the 14-year-old in 1964. “I just wanted to meet the Beatles and figured this was the way to do it.” Smith, along with her cousin Priscilla Wilson (now Lagarenne) were, like most girls their age, simply mad about the Beatles. This was the early summer of 1964, after the Fab Four’s first foray into America. The cousins had tickets to the Beatles’ ...
July 6, 1957." The Quarry men" have a gig at a church picnic. The singer is John Lennon. They play skiffle and some rock and roll. Paul Mccartney shows up to hear Lennon's band. While "The Quarry Men" are getting ready to play, Paul Mccartney picks up a guitar and plays a Gene Vincent tune called" Be-bop-a lula" and a song by Eddie Cochran,"Twenty flight rock". He was hoping to impress John Lennon. "The Quarry men" had a guy they paid to tune their guitars,McCartney knew how to tune!!! This ability alone made him worth having as the new "Quarry man". Lennon-McCartney became a team. "The Quarry men" changed personnel, changed the name of the band and eventually found a young guitar player .George Harrison. McCartney had heard him play "Raunchy" at school...sold him to Lennon, "anyone who could play "Raunchy" had to be in the band". "I'm getting the dinosaur award," Starr exclaimed to fellow Lifetime Achievement Award winner Kris Kristofferson. Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison were also on the stage accepting the honor for their late husbands, John Lennon and George Harrison respectively. Feeling irritated due to the Grammy's and CBS. Why cut short the performance of NIN, Dave Grohl, Lindsey Buckingham, and Josh Homme. They didn't cut anyone else off, but because others can't shut thier mouths during acceptance speeches or have over elaborate performances, the "President of the Recording Academy" Neil Portnow claims time restraints and that "We save the end slot for something that is a bit of a jam, because you can have the energy go and then it's just a matter of the clock." Its nice to know that he considers great musicians like Trent, Lindsey, and Dave to be just a jam session. I'm sure that if the last session to play was John Lennon and Ringo Starr nothing would have been cut short. So in the immortal words of Roger Ebert "Two Thumbs Down" or better yet One Finger Up. I'll let you figure out which one is up.
Best Grammys ever. Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr together again! Just missing John Lennon and George Harrison! RIP!
I just heard that Paul and Ringo will perform on the Grammy's tonight :) The Fab Four will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award: The band collectively gets the award, although Paul Mccartney and the late John Lennon have received it separately (1990 and 1991, respectively). Ringo Starr and Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, will be on hand at Sunday's ceremony, along with McCartney, who has three nominations this year. Kraftwerk and the Isley Brothers will also receive Lifetime Achievement Awards.

This is a historic photo for two reasons: it was the first time that Yoko Ono appeared with John Lennon in public confirming that they were indeed an item. It was also Paul Mccartney's public outing without his then-fiance Jane Asher, the first indication the couple had broken up. George Harrison and Ringo Starr are seen with their wives, who they would eventually divorce but not before Harrison had an affair with Ringo's wife. At least Harrison kept it the family so to speak.

Bet you didn’t know this: J.R.R. Tolkien, born today in 1892, once rejected the idea of a LORD OF THE RINGS film featuring all four of the Beatles. John Lennon, who wanted to play Gollum, was the real driving force behind the proposed project. Paul Mccartney would have played Frodo, Ringo Starr – Sam, and George Harrison – the bearded Gandalf. What do you think? Should the movie have been made?
MMM: He's been with Billy Joel since 1982, but only now is Billy Joel sideman Mark Rivera getting set to release a solo record. "Common Bond" is coming out on February 18th, and will contains appearances by Ringo Starr, Steve Lukather, Nils Lofgren and, of course, Billy Joel. The multi-instrumentalist performed on John Lennon's final TV appearance in 1975, did sax work on Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" and much more, so it's about time we heard this talent as a frontman.

There was just an overall feeling that John was around." Source:
1. The Lord of the Rings (Starring The Beatles and directed by Stanley Kubrick) Easily one of the strangest movie “what ifs” considered, there was once talk of a Lord of the Rings film adaptation starring The Beatles, with none other than Stanley Kubrick approached to direct. And it was actually The Beatles — specifically John Lennon — who were adamant about getting a feature film made. After Apple Films saw the success of Beatles films A Hard Day’s Night, Help!, and Yellow Submarine, the production company knew the kind of potential a Lord of the Rings adaptation might hold, considering Lennon was one of the film’s biggest supporters. The film’s roles were reportedly already set: Lennon would play Gollum, Paul Mccartney would play Frodo, Ringo Starr would take on Sam, and George Harrison would be Gandalf. Apple Films would later feel confident enough with both the film’s idea and The Beatles’s interest to approach Kubrick about directing. Kubrick would ultimately turn the offer down bec ...

For me the Perfect Beatle album.   Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band:Paul Mccartney: vocals, lead guitar, bass John Lennon: vocals George Harrison: vocals, guitar Ringo Starr: drums James W Buck, Neil Sanders, Tony Randall, John Burden: French horn  On The Beatles' final US tour in 1966, Paul Mccartney was struck by the inventiveness of the West Coast hippy groups, with names such as Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane, and Big Brother and the Holding Company. In November that year, on a post-holiday flight from Nairobi to England, he came up with the idea of an alter-ego for the band, which would perform an entire album before an audience.     Sgt Pepper is Paul, after a trip to America and the whole West Coast, long-named group thing was coming in. You know, when people were no longer The Beatles or The Crickets - they were suddenly Fred and His Incredible Shrinking Grateful Airplanes, right? So I think he got influenced by that and came up with this idea for The Beatles. As I rea ...
July 9, 1969…At EMI's Abbey Road Studios in London, the Beatles began recording "Maxwell's Silver Hammer." Paul Mccartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr taped the rhythm track, then a series of guitar overdubs. They overdubbed vocals, piano, Hammond Organ, anvil, and guitar over the following two days, and the song was completed on August 6, when McCartney recorded a Moog synthesizer solo. John Lennon, who did not play on the track, derided the song at the time as a prime example of McCartney's "granny-style" writing, and complained that the band spent more money on that song than any other on the "Abbey Road" album.
JUNE 30, 2006 Las Vegas. Cameras issued countless flashes and hundreds of fans erupted in joy when Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr came to the premiere of the show Love, a surreal portrait of Cirque du Soleil on the career of the Beatles. The function in the remodeled Theater Siegfried Roy at the Mirage hotel, proposed a musical journey through the past of the band. It was rather emotional because two of us are no longer here, Starr said after the show. McCartney avoided the press, but took the stage after the function. "This is dedicated to John and George!", he shouted. Yoko Ono, the widow of John Lennon, assisted with a big white hat and a suit of the same color. It was loud ovation by the audience. In all this time that I have worked in the show trials thought: "John should be here. That is the only thing that I regret the fact that he is not here, because I would have enjoyed it very much", said Ono. As passed among the crowd, Olivia Harrison, widow of George Harrison, seconded: "would that he (George ...

From Writer's Almanac, June 18, 2013 It is the birthday of musician and songwriter Paul Mccartney (1942), born in Liverpool, England. When he was 14, he learned to play a left-handed guitar and met a local art student named John Lennon. They formed a skiffle band called the Quarrymen in 1957, spending several years based in a small Liverpool club called The Cavern. After some success, they met Brian Epstein, who became their manager. He suggested they replace their current drummer, Pete Best, with a young man named Ringo Starr. By 1963, the band, which had changed its name to the Beatles, was the most popular rock and roll group in England. In February of 1964, they took America by storm with their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. The Guinness Book of World Records lists McCartney as the best-selling composer in popular music history. His song "Yesterday" is the most recorded ever, with 2,200 versions.

The Beatles 1968 song, "Hey Bulldog," reminds me that while The Beatles and The Hollies in the Sixties often worked the same side of the street in terms of being high-charting British pop-Rock Bands, The Beatles had more of a sense of humor than The Hollies. Some examples include when John Lennon slyly says, "Goodbye!" at the beginning of the "Sergeant Pepper's Reprise;" George Harrison slipping in a reference to "Obla Di, Obla Da" in "Savoy Truffle;" or Ringo Starr shouting, "I've got blisters on my fingers!" at the end of "Helter Skelter." Both bands were perfectionists when it came to recording their singles, EPs, and albums, but The Hollies lacked that sly, often subversive sense of humor that made The Beatles who they were. What do you think?

Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon on December 8,1980. He's been doing time since. He was only 25 then. There are some similarities between him and Lennon. One was having a wife who is about five years older than he. Christina Aguilara was born a week later. I bought Lennon's '45 "Just Like(Starting Over) oblivious of his death the next month when I turned 12. Back then, I knew of Wings and "Silly Love Songs" and that's it. I had no idea that Paul Mccartney and Lennon had been in a group. I don't know a thing about Ringo Starr and George Harrison to this day. I think that I learned of the murder by '84 when I saw his first born Julian on Bandstand. I only have two songs of John's and none of his sons'. Sean---the youngest and with Yoko Ono---sings too. I hadn't heard his stuff other than the mess he and his mother sang on The View a few months ago. Yoko did the B sides of John's stuff. Yuck. Apparently, her chances of singing well is the title of that album from which it comes: "Double Fantasy". Lennon ...
Psychedelic "Tomorrow Never Knows," the final track of the Beatles' 1966 studio album Revolver, was written primarily by John Lennon. Paul Mccartney suggested the insistent drum pattern and contributed the backwards guitar solo. The surging beat pushes the song into the clouds and beyond. The sitar drone, chanting, and tape loops all brew together. The unconventional lyric was inspired by the Timothy Leary book, The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Lennon said he wanted it to sound like "a group of Tibetan monks chanting on a mountain top." Ringo Starr's unusual turns of phrase, or "Ringoisms" as they became known, like A Hard Day's Night, the song title was taken from one of his malapropisms. The song is featured in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All-Time.

On Sept. 8, 1962, May's band the Beat Cats shared the bill with the Beatles with Ringo Starr on drums. "I always remember them because John Lennon had just acquired his jumbo Gibson acoustic guitar that was featured in the 'A Hard Day’s Night' film," May said. "It was so new he did not have a strap for it and he borrowed mine. They did their first set then took off to The Majestic Ballroom for their set there, and then came back to the YMCA for their second spot, and on again to The Majestic to finish their engagement. They shared our equipment, which was very primitive, and I still cannot believe that they used it. It consisted of mic stands that were handmade at The Cammell Lairds ...

The stars are once again in alignment. Paul Mccartney became the final member of the Beatles member to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame , two days after the release of his latest album, Kisses On The Bottom. The 2,460th star was placed right where we'd expect it to be—next to fellow band members, Ringo Starr and the late George Harrison and John Lennon, in front of the Capital Records building. McCartney was introduced by fellow musician Neil Young, who said the 70-year-old was "at the top of his game." "Like Charlie Chaplin was a great actor, that's how I look at Paul, he's at the top," Young said. "And yet even with all of that craft that he has and his ability to put melodies and chords and feelings together, it's the soul that comes out of his music and everything that he does that makes me feel so good and so happy to be here with him and honor him today." When it came to who the singer felt deserved some recognition for his success, well, you can guess who he spoke about. "Way back in ...
THE FICKLE OF MUSIC By Kev Attwood The music industry and criminal society go in league with each other, Billie Holiday’s tour manager would have a LIST of drug dealers around America that he could score of. What a band/act has go through is SO incredible and mind blowing. They have pay out of their OWN money for such things as Studio time where they record. This is why the Beatles first LP was done in 12 hours. When the Beatles were with Parlophone/EMI they would get 8 – 12p for every record they sold, the record company (EMI) was on 40p a record, plus the likes of Paul Mccartney & John Lennon would get paid for every time their song was played on the radio or TV, not Ringo Starr or George Harrison (UNLESS THEY WROTE IT) this is why Harrison wrote the song “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” which Paul played live at a few gigs erm. This why when you look on a Black Sabbath LP your see ALL the band has wrote the song. Purely for more money. Most people who manage a band/act they manage quite a few and ...

Just throwing out there a hypothetical musical scenario for the fun of it; 1. It was just announced that there will be a world wide 15 Concert Tour in 2014 (again...not a reality) called "Get Back" dedicated to the memory of John Lennon and George Harrison. 100 percent of the concert proceeds will go for a significant and major fundraiser to help eradicate disease, hunger, in those suffering from natural disasters. This 1 time concert tour will feature 4 gentlemen; Paul Mccartney, Ringo Starr, Julian Lennon, and George Harrison's talented son almost identical in resemblance to his father( with my apologies for not recalling George's son name).Get Back tour of 2014 , a once in a lifetime concert event with 2 solid hours of some of the greatest Beatle music ever created. This obviously will never happen, but here's the hypothetical and the fun part; 1. Would u go to this concert? 2. Would it potentially be the highest financially grossing concert in history? 3. Would it be as great as it sounds or would it ...

This might just be a rumor I've found researching my history project, but at one point in 1979, a contract with CBS Records was made by Paul Mccartney. In the agreement, he stated that he would record again with three former bandmates of his: John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, under the banner of The Beatles. The deal was made for $10.8 million. This never came to fruition as, a year later, John Lennon was shot in the head by Mark David Chapman. Again, maybe just a rumor. But a Beatles reunion would've been beautiful.

Heard at dinner tonight: "John Lennon, Paul Mccartney, Ringo Starr and Harrison Ford?"
It is commonly credited to John Lennon but it was Ringo Starr who shouted 'I got blisters on my fingers' at the end of Helter Skelter.

"George Harrison, Paul Mccartney, Ringo Starr and John Lennon were all in one group?? That must've been a good group."
Oh my god .. John Lennon playing drums of Ringo Starr ? This is awesome ✌
I've decided that for my funeral when I die at age 100, I want a John Lennon look-alike dressed in white as the preacher, a Ringo Starr look alike dressed in black as the funeral director, and I want a George Harrison look-alike dressed in denim to bury me. I will be in the coffin wearing a suit...and barefoot.
John Lennon, Paul Mccartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr. Every single day of the year.
'Cold Turkey' by John Lennon & Plastic Ono Band. Remastered from a random MP3 I found with Google. I had a lot of fun making this video, it made me feel high...
Along with Ringo and the underrated Ringo the 4th, I have always found Sentimental Journey to be one of my favorite Ringo Starr solo projects. Five years before John Lennon's tortured but ultimately decent Rock and Roll, Starr was doing an album of covers. Here, Ringo performs songs not from his c...

It's WEDNESDAY!!! And you know what THAT means...tomorrow is THURSDAY, the day I'm at King Tut's Restaurant doing knockout acoustic versions of BEATLES SONGS and more. Here are some ACTUAL QUOTES from the Beatles themselves - from Paul Mccartney: "We call Dave the 6th Beatle...or was it the 7th? We were too high." Ringo Starr: "I LOVE Dave. He has a big nose." George Harrison: "I can hear Dave all across the Universe." John Lennon: "If I had known Dave was available at the time, I would NEVER have married Yoko and this whole mess could have been avoided. Oi." See what I mean? 6PM, King Tut's, Corner of Hageman and Verdugo. Great food, full bar, hookahs, and ME, the 6th (or 7th) Beatle! Yeah Yeah Yeah!

So I came up with this and here it goes: Paul Mccartney-Gryffindor, Ringo Starr- Hufflepuff, George Harrison-Ravenclaw, and John Lennon- Slytherin.. 3..2..1... Debate or agree!
Having just seen "Imagine" sung by children who were signing while a video of John Lennon performing his iconic song was shown on the big screens I thought I would mention that one of my personal 15 minutes of fame was getting to speak with John Lennon and Ringo Starr by phone in 1964. They called me "Linder."
I: You have played with some of the best musicians, anyone you would like to join you? PMC: John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
I'm the Ringo Starr of every Relationship. Buts she's only George so it's not like she was John Lennon. But she lies like Paul.
10.) John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr (Paul was already named) (too bad John and George are dead)
Legend has it that one Mr. Richard Starkey (aka Ringo Starr) made his public drumming debut on this day in 1957 at the famous Cavern Club with the Eddie Clayton skiffle group. A week later, John Lennon lead the Quarry Men into the very same club for their first performance.
Paul Mccartney to perform tonight with hologram John Lennon and George Harrison, and a cardboard cutout of Ringo Starr.
If I don't see George Harrison and John Lennon as holograms joining Ringo Starr and Paul Mccartney on stage tonight, I'll be disappointed.
It was during the Hurricanes' residency at Butlins that John Lennon and Paul Mccartney drove from Liverpool to Skegness on Aug. 15, 1962, to ask Ringo to joi...
