In 1986...James Brown was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame; In '87...Marvin Gaye; in '88...The Beatles; The Rolling Stones in '89; The Kinks in '90. In '91...The Byrds. The Jimi Hendrix Experience was inducted in 1992. In '94 The Animals and John Lennon were anointed. Janis Joplin entered in 1995. '97 was The (Young) Rascals turn. George Martin and, Paul Mccartney were inducted in '99...and George Harrison was chosen in 2004. Hall founding member Frank Barsalona, (dubbed the "Quartermaster of The British Invasion") was inducted (in the "non-performer" category) in '05. In 2008 The Dave Clark 5 were installed, and ABBA made the 'cut' in 2010. And 2015...is Starr's turn. I've listed only the inductees I'm certain Sid had a hand in bringing them to their moment. Without them there might be no hall...and without Sid there might not be them. The hall doesn't make the performer. The performer makes the hall. Why they have seemingly chosen not to demand Sid's induction is outrageous. Success, (especial ...

ON THIS DAY IN ROCK AND MUSIC: NOVEMBER 3 1955, Elvis Presley's first release on RCA Victor Records was announced. The first two songs ‘Mystery Train’ and ‘I Forgot to Remember to Forget’ had been purchased from Sam Phillips of Sun Records. Elvis was described by his new record company as 'The most talked about personality in recorded music in the last 10 years.' More on Elvis Presley 1956, Guy Mitchell was at No.1 on the US singles chart with his version of 'Singing The Blues', which spent nine weeks at the top of the charts. Two other charting versions of the song were released almost simultaneously with Mitchell's, one by UK singer Tommy Steele (with the Steelmen) and the other by US country singer Marty Robbins. 1961, Brian Epstein invited The Beatles into his office to discuss the possibility of becoming their manager. Bobby Keys, longtime saxophonist for the Rolling Stones, died on Tuesday at his home in Franklin, Tenn., after a long illness. He was 70. "The Rolling Stones are devastated by the loss of their very dear friend and legendary saxophone player, Bobby Keys," the band said in a statement. "Bobby made a unique musical contribution to the band since the 1960s. He will be greatly missed." Keys was still a teenager when he played sax for Buddy Holly in the 1950s and later performed with John Lennon, George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker, in addition to the Stones. "He was a good friend and an inspiration to play with," said longtime friend and Nashville rock veteran Michael Webb, who performed with Keys in a band of Southern rock all-stars, Bobby Keys and the Suffering *** Webb said Keys had a liver ailment and had been in and out of the hospital in the past two months. Keys wrote of his struggles with heroin and life with the Stones in the autobiography "Every Night's a Saturday Night." Keys was not ...

Jim Keltner was a friend in junior high and high school. He and a couple of my other Sierra Madre buds played in the John Marshall Junior High marching band: Top Rock Drummers Set to Be Inducted Saturday You might not know the name Jim Keltner, but you’ve probably heard him playing drums on some of your favorite songs for the last 50 years. Founding board member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and author of theOklahoma Music Guide Dr. Hugh Foley says that Keltner’s status among rock drummers is unquestionable. “He is the session drummer of the rock and pop era, from the mid-1960s to the present day. That includes an incredible list of artists. It’s one of those jaw-droppers, whether it’s John Lennon or Ringo Starr or George Harrison, with whom he played on all significant tracks by those three former Beatles.” .

Early Cavern days Beatles' photograph up for auction One of the earliest photos of The Beatles in Liverpool's Cavern Club is being auctioned later this month. The picture and other recently unearthed snaps, were taken to The Beatles Shop in Liverpool. Shop manager Stephen Bailey said the owner told him: "My father was a professional photographer and these might be of interest to you." Taken in 1961, the Cavern photo features Paul Mccartney at the front of the stage, with Pete Best on drums. Best was replaced the following year by Ringo Starr. Mr Bailey said the man handed over a series of envelopes of transparencies which all turned out to be in perfect condition. Another shot shows George Harrison, John Lennon, McCartney and Best posing with six girls. Mr Bailey said after some research, he found it was taken on 14 June 1961, at St John's Hall, Tuebrook, Liverpool – the first gig the band played after returning from Hamburg. He has also traced two of the girls in the picture. One of the others has died ...

7/22 This day back in 1996, Donovan was forced to postpone a comeback tour of the US because of a 30-year-old marijuana conviction in the UK. American authorities delayed granting him a waiver to enter the country. The phony arrest was made by Norman ‘Nobby’ Pilcher who pinned possession of drugs charges on pop stars and hippies, and for the dubious methods employed in his undercover operations, which included paying off informers with drugs. Soon he became infamous for arresting a number of celebrities during the 1960s on drug charges, such as *** Jagger, Brian Jones and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, Donovan and also two members of The Beatles, George Harrison and John Lennon. The various celebrities complained that Detective Sergeant Pilcher framed them or was only carrying out raids and arrests to satisfy the tabloid newspapers. The Beatles 50 Years Ago Today : June 17, 1964 (Wednesday) The Beatles’ final two shows in Melbourne, Australia took place on this day. In the afternoon George Harrison went driving in an MG in the Dandenong Mountains with tour organiser Lloyd Ravenscroft. Concerned with more important matters, John Lennon, Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr had their hair cut in their hotel, the Southern Cross. This was The Beatles’ last of three consecutive nights of shows in the city’s Festival Hall, Each night they gave two concerts, which were enjoyed by a total of 45,000 people. Cameras from the Australian Channel 9 recorded the sixth and final show of the Melbourne leg of the world tour. It was screened on 1 July 1964 as an hour-long special, The Beatles Sing For Shell, named after the oil company which sponsored the broadcast. Nine of The Beatles’ Melbourne performances were included in the show: I Saw Her Standing There, You Can’t Do That, All My Loving, She Loves You, Till There Was You, Roll Over Beethove ...
The problem with preaching a literal *** to non-Christians: By the definitions given, heaven has: Jerry Falwell, Jim Bakker, Anita Bryant, and Oral Roberts. *** has: John Lennon, Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein, Keith Moon, George Harrison, Thomas Jefferson, Julius Caesar, and Plato. Called the "Fifth Beatle," Billy Preston has the distinction of being the only musician besides Tony Sheridan to be credited on a Beatles record. An incredibly talented musician who had quite a solo career of his own, Preston (1946-2006) first met the Beatles as a 16-year-old in 1962 while part of Little Richard's touring band, when their manager Brian Epstein organized a Liverpool show which the Fab Four opened. George Harrison invited Preston to play at their Let It Be album sessions in Jan. 1969, where he recorded several tracks with them. John Lennon liked him so much that at one point during the sessions, he proposed that Preston join the group as the Fifth Beatle. Paul Mccartney nixed the idea, saying it was bad enough with four. One of the tracks Preston recorded with them was Get Back -- that's him on the organ. He was also with them when they climbed on the London rooftop of the Apple Office Building for a 42-minute show on Jan. 30, 1969 and recorded several songs that ended up on the Let It Be a ...

Invest in The Beatles... We have an amazing complete set of Beatles autographs obtained at their Doncaster Co-op Ballroom gig on Wednesday 8th August 1962, the one and only time they played the venue. We can be sure of this date because, even without the provenance provided, they have signed on the back of the bottom of a flyer for the show. As you will surely be aware, this was from the time that Pete Best was still the drummer. This complete set includes not only John Lennon, Paul Mccartney, George Harrison & Pete Best, but also Pete's friend and then band roadie Neil Aspinall! The autographs were obtained backstage by a teen fan who made a habit of seeing the popular bands that came to Doncaster around that time & collected autographs from them all. The Beatles were just another one of those bands. They spent the time that they weren't playing actually wandering about the venue as then they were still able to do this. A very different tale less than a year later. The recollections of the person who obta ...

Last night on the Billboard Music Awards Kerry Underwood & Miranda Lambert were good. The Michael Jackson performance was GREAT. But WHAT! PLEASE TELL ME WHAT! John Lennon and George Harrison are turning over in their graves, and Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr should know better than to allow Miley Cyrus, the woman who dances with a giant sex organ every night at her concerts, to ruin "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." Bad Billboard "Music" Awards, bad.
I am so sure that John Lennon and George Harrison just turned over in their grave after hearing Miley sing that song. Put some clothes on and show some respect girl

Music History For 10th May 1960, The Silver Beetles (John Lennon, Paul Mccartney, George Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe, and Tommy Moore) auditioned for promoter Larry Parnes and singer Billy Fury for a job as Fury's backing group. Parnes was also looking for backing groups for his lesser-known acts, and The Silver Beetles were selected as backing group for singer Johnny Gentle's upcoming tour of Scotland. The group had changed its name from 'The Beatals' to 'The Silver Beetles' after Brian Casser (of Cass and the Cassanovas) remarked that the name 'Beatals' was "ridiculous". He suggested they use the name 'Long John and the Silver Beetles', but John Lennon refused to be referred to as 'Long John'. 1963, The Rolling Stones recorded the Chuck Berry song 'Come On', at Olympic Studios, London. This the bands first release was issued on the 7th June 1963 by Decca Records. 1964, Bob Dylan arrived in Britain for his first major UK tour including a show at London's Royal Festival Hall on the 17th of this month. 1965 ...
"All I ever wanted to do was be a drummer in a band," said Ringo. When asked what he learned in the Fab Four, Ringo is quoted as saying, "Know the role you play." "Ringo is Ringo, that's all there is to it. And he's every bloody bit as warm, unassuming, funny, and kind as he seems. He was quite simply the heart of the Beatles." - John Lennon. "Ringo's just a lad. Everybody always loved him. And now that he's all dried out, he's just a lovable, interesting, intelligent bloke." - Paul Mccartney "I didn't like the look of Rory's drummer myself. He looked the nasty one, with his little grey streak of hair. But the nastier one turned out to be Ringo, the nicest of them all." "Playing without Ringo is like driving a car on three wheels. - George Harrison

The catch? Every single Beatle is played by Nick Cage. John, Paul, George, and Ringo (even Pete Best) are all played by Nick Cage. Through the magic of CGI he is omnipresent on screen at all times, doing his flawless British accent for each character. Oh, and every piece of their discography is rerecorded for the film, by Cage of course.
A George Harrison song, a Beatles song, and a John Lennon song all in a row on pandora. Good Omens for my finals.

"Don't try to be John Lennon if you are George Harrison"
“I could always get George to rebel with me.” - John Lennon “George is getting sitar lessons of Ravi Shankar. He doesn’t teach just ANYBODY you know!” - John Lennon “John was always helpful. He said things like ‘When you’re writing, try and finish the song immediately, because once you leave it, it will be harder to complete.’ I played him a tune one day and he said ‘Oh, well, that’s not bad.’ He didn’t do anything about it at the time, but I noticed in the next song he wrote that he’d nicked some of the chords!!” - George Harrison “I remember the day he called to ask for help on ‘Taxman,’ one of his bigger songs. He came to me because he couldn’t go to Paul, because Paul wouldn’t have helped him in that period. I didn’t want to do it. But because I loved him and I didn’t want to hurt him, I just sort of bit my tongue and said OK. It had been John and Paul so long, he’d been left out because he hadn’t been a songwriter up until then.” - John Lennon “John ...

Splinter. On Dark Horse Records rather than on Apple, but initially, George Harrison really wanted the Newcastle duo, discovered by Mal Evans, to record on Apple. After all, Bill Elliot had already recorded a song on Apple, when he put his vocal to John Lennon's "God Save Us" in 1971. When you access the Splinter Library (you are treated to a few excerpts from an acetate the duo cut at Apple as early as 1972. That acetate was sold a few years ago to some private collector, and never heard of again, and as far as I know, it is not circulating among fans. Would somebody have scans of that rare Splinter acetate on Apple?

George Harrison 1943 - 2001 People in Liverpool attended a vigil on 25th February 2013, to commemorate the birthday of George Harrison, the organisers named it ‘Imagine’ after the John Lennon song. George would have celebrated his 70th Birthday. George Harrison, singer, and songwriter, achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. During the mid-1960s, He became interested in the Hare Krishna movement, and over time became an admirer of Indian Culture and mysticism, introducing it to the other Beatles and to their Western audience. His songs with the band include “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, “Here Comes the Sun”, and “Something”, which became the second most-covered Beatles song.
Thanks polam for the invitation. Lewapool became part of my beatlemania youth experience since 1971. This was the time I came to learnt of the tag 'mercysider' a reference made to the Fabulous Four- in John Lennon, Paul Mcartney, George Harrison and Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr). The Fab Four from Liverpool made history through their music touring the world many times and being recognized by Her Majesty- Queen Elizabeth the 2nd in 1964 for oustanding contribution to world music and bringing millions of foreign exchange into the United Kingdom. My love for the Lewapool FC was all the more consolidated by the historical attachment of Soccer talents to musical talents all from the POOL of raw Talents that came directly from the LEWA, a feat immortalized by the orphanged of John Lennon by his grany and his Silver Beatles turned the infamous BEATLES of Lewapool.

"Hashtag Selfie" is the MOST REQUESTED SONG IN THE WORLD? Somewhere in Heaven, Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, Tupac, Biggie, Otis Redding, John Lennon, and George Harrison.. all hang their heads in shame.
George Harrison (guitar, sitar, vocals), John Lennon (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Paul Mccartney (bass, guitar, keyboards, vocals), Ringo Starr (drums, percussion, vocals) The impact of the Beatles has often been noted but cannot be overstated. The “Fab Four” from Liverpool, England, startled the ears and energized the lives of virtually all who heard them. Their arrival triggered the musical revolution of the Sixties, introducing a modern sound and viewpoint that parted ways with the world of the previous decade. The pleasurable jolt at hearing “She Loves You” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand” - given the doldrums into which rock and roll had fallen in recent years - was comparable to the collective fever induced by Presley’s “That’s All Right” and “Heartbreak Hotel” nearly 10 years earlier. The Beatles’ music - with its simultaneous refinement (crisp harmonies, solid musicianship, canny pop instincts) and abandon (energetic singing and playing, much screaming and shaking of mop-to ...

The Beatles legend has been taking to the slopes every day with a personal instructor during his winter break in the French Alps in a bid to master the art of snowy activity. However, while the 71-year-old singer has been making his way down the slopes, his wife Nancy Shevell, 53, has been keeping away from the icy conditions by staying in their private lodge. The skiing trip couldn't have come at a better time for Sir Paul, who has been busy in the US for the past month making a special TV show 'The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to The Beatles' to commemorate 50 years since the group first appeared on American television. During the show, Paul and his bandmate Ringo Starr paid tribute to late Beatles, John Lennon - who was shot and killed in New York in 1980 - and George Harrison, who died of lung cancer in 2001. Last night I watched the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles appearance on Ed Sullivan in 1964...hard to believe it was that long ago. I was one of those inspired by their music to buy a guitar and amplifier, and taught myself to play. Later that year I formed my first band, "Changing Times". We played some private parties for free to get experience and then in the fall of 1965 our first paid gig was at the Crystal Teen Club, $125 for the band. I played in several other bands off and on over the next 12 years or so but always kept my day job! I had a few different guitars, including a Beatle Bass, which was one of my favorites...wish I still owned it today. I have a lot of fond memories of those times, not only playing in the bands but also jamming with my brothers, Len and Brian. Brian is now in that big music hall in the sky...maybe he's been jammin' with George Harrison and John Lennon...Imagine...
BT and I watched the Beatle's Tribute last night. I couldn't wait to hear what song would be next. I really like Alicia Keys and John Legend playing and singing together but to put it sweetly Paul and Ringo were the best of the best! Paul Mccartney has still got it together, that guy can really ROCK. I wish the sons of George Harrison and John Lennon could have just done one song with them. Still, just watching brought back a lot of memories. Hard to believe its been 50 years!
I loved and really miss John Lennon and George Harrison. They surely would have reunited for the 50th, anniversary.
We remember George Harrison and John Lennon on this amazing night!
Paul Mccartney & Ringo Starr, thank you for a great how tonight & for paying tribute to John Lennon..Josh called him Long Jennon..& George Harrison. Long live the Fab Four Beatles!
At this moment I would send special shout-outs to the people who made meeting the Beatles a reality for me: Dennis Fine, bless his soul, who arranged for my interview with Paul for the Sunday Daily News; photographer Bob Gruen, who introduced me to John Lennon one day on Bank Street many moons ago when I just happened to run into them; Lizbeth Rosenberg, then a publicist for Warner Brothers Records and now Madonna's moat, who arranged for my very very first interview as the Daily News's Sunday rock columnist--with Tim Buckley!--and later took me to a press party at Nirvana, the posh Indian restaurant on Central Park South, where I met George Harrison; and my late father, who accompanied me to a matinee of ''Oliver!'' the day the Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan Show, and who braved what looked like a Day of the Locust mob turning the corner on us and pinning us in the vestibule of the theater, following Ringo's limousine down the block.
Wow almost missed this Grammy special of Beatles !!! Of course my favorite George Harrison passed away along with John Lennon. But Paul Mccartney and Ringo still kicking it. Show airing same time Ed Sullivan Show did 50 years ago with their introduction to American TV. Their music has influenced me greatly right up there almost with Elvis. Glad to see Paul and Ringo finally playing together again. WOW!!! Wish I had opportunity to see Keith Moon playing with them back in the day, mostly private/party sessions they were all party animals. Keith Moon was with Paul Mccartney for opening night of The Buddy Holley story, the night he died !!! :/ Here Comes the Sun ;) LOVE IT !!!
I'd kill to meet Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr. And go back in time to meet John Lennon and George Harrison. ❤️
Today is the 50 anniversary of The Beatles Age in the earth! God Bless Sir Paul, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr!!!

So as you probably know, it was 50 Years Ago Today that the Beatles took the stage on the Ed Sullivan Show and literally changed the face of popular culture. I'll miss the tv coverage as I don't watch tv, but here are a few interesting things about that night... John Lennon was absolutely fascinated by the coca cola vending machine in studio 50, he begged nearly every member of their crew dry of spare change for another bottle, I guess you could say he was pretty coked up. George Harrison was dreadfully ill that day with tonsillitis, he didn't attend any of the pre-show rehearsals. The Beatles performed for 73 million people on TV that night, it's claimed that in the city of New York not one crime was committed during their performance. While that may be myth, it may actually be true. City records, while not complete or entirely to-the-minute accurate, corroborate this. Look it up... Ed Sullivan threatened the crowd before the show to record the names of each attendee and report to their parents if they w ...
Below from today's Trentonian at the request of Donna Csiz... Home Opinion Columnists JEFF EDELSTEIN: The Beatles are Trenton citizens forever By Jeff Edelstein, The Trentonian POSTED: 02/07/14, 12:04 PM EST | UPDATED: 1 MIN AGO As it turns out, Trenton has two more residents than previously believed. Their names are Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr. Yep. Those two Beatles — along with their deceased bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison — are honorary citizens of the capital city, having been given the official title 50 years ago as a direct result of a 14-year-old girl and her 11-year-old cousin “The idea? It just came to me,” said Eileen Smith, the 14-year-old in 1964. “I just wanted to meet the Beatles and figured this was the way to do it.” Smith, along with her cousin Priscilla Wilson (now Lagarenne) were, like most girls their age, simply mad about the Beatles. This was the early summer of 1964, after the Fab Four’s first foray into America. The cousins had tickets to the Beatles’ ...
July 6, 1957." The Quarry men" have a gig at a church picnic. The singer is John Lennon. They play skiffle and some rock and roll. Paul Mccartney shows up to hear Lennon's band. While "The Quarry Men" are getting ready to play, Paul Mccartney picks up a guitar and plays a Gene Vincent tune called" Be-bop-a lula" and a song by Eddie Cochran,"Twenty flight rock". He was hoping to impress John Lennon. "The Quarry men" had a guy they paid to tune their guitars,McCartney knew how to tune!!! This ability alone made him worth having as the new "Quarry man". Lennon-McCartney became a team. "The Quarry men" changed personnel, changed the name of the band and eventually found a young guitar player .George Harrison. McCartney had heard him play "Raunchy" at school...sold him to Lennon, "anyone who could play "Raunchy" had to be in the band". " Okay, but, it is on a trail basis".as it turned out George was pretty good. "The Beatles get booked in Hamburg, Germany in the early 1960's. "The Beatles" play 7 days a week,lo ...

"I'm getting the dinosaur award," Starr exclaimed to fellow Lifetime Achievement Award winner Kris Kristofferson. Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison were also on the stage accepting the honor for their late husbands, John Lennon and George Harrison respectively. In honor of Ringo and Paul reuniting for a rare performance together at the Grammy Awards tonight, take a look at the Fab Four throughout their career that spurred the British Invasion, Beatlemania and endless hours of incredible music.
Best Grammys ever. Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr together again! Just missing John Lennon and George Harrison! RIP!
I'm not really a Beatles fan, but i was thinking Eric Clapton and Elton John could fill the roles left by John Lennon and George Harrison.
There is NO escape for the wicked, your bad Karma will get you in your next life. Have you noticed, the most hard core rationalists and atheists , lose their bravado and utter a prayer when they know that their "play to the gallery" times on the planet is over. You will NEVER EVER see them telling the supreme " COME ON TAKE ME ON, YOU SOB -- DO YOUR WORST" when they are about to kick the bucket. I challenge anybody to prove me wrong, in the future too. Few celebrities among hundreds who chose cremation-- Sigmund Freud, Albert Einstein , Robert Oppenheimer , Arthur Rubenstein, Harpo Marx ,Neville Chamberlain, Alexander Fleming, Greta Garbo, George Harrison, John F. This is a historic photo for two reasons: it was the first time that Yoko Ono appeared with John Lennon in public confirming that they were indeed an item. It was also Paul Mccartney's public outing without his then-fiance Jane Asher, the first indication the couple had broken up. George Harrison and Ringo Starr are seen with their wives, who they would eventually divorce but not before Harrison had an affair with Ringo's wife. At least Harrison kept it the family so to speak.
