Of all the great personalities in music who are no longer with us , who do you wish you had known personally ? I have so many ! Here's a few : Buddy Holly , Elvis , Jim Morrison , Rory Gallagher , John Lennon , Waylon Jennings , Frank Sinatra , Dean Martin , Sammy Davis Jr. , Tim Buckley , Bob Marley , Sam Cooke , Eddie Cochran ,John Denver , Harry Chapin and many many more ! But if I had to pick just one , it would have to be Jim Croce ! Jim was just a great guy . He had a wonderful sense of humor . He was a great songwriter and a real character . He would be my first choice hands down ! Who would you pick ? Are there any of you out there that knew someone famous in the music business ?
I posted this response on someone else's thread but I thought I'd post it again when I decided to share... Freddie Mercury, Elvis, Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash and Bob Marley. Plus I'd love to have Terry Kath, John Denver and Tommy Bolin back too even though they're not pictured. In exchange they can take, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Kanye, Britney Spears, and at least two or three dozen of today's "pop, rock, Hip Hop stars". They can even have American Idol and all it's stars too.
I believe if John Lennon, Bob Marley, Gary Barlow wrote a song and it was sung by Elvis, Beyoncé, the Spice Girls, David Bowie and Take That . Uk would still not win Eurovision Song Contest!
The U.S. government has murdered Osho, John Lennon, Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, Lenny Bruce, Kwame Ture (Stokely Carmichael), Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, et al., and now Gary Webb. And absolutely nothing can or will be done about it because the American people are too *** cowardly and dependent on the same murderous government, especially for benefits. So by banning marijuana, it makes Blacks want it even more. But look at what it does to the health of the Black smoker. Smoking weed has not made Blacks more healthier, more intelligent, more politically conscious, more spiritual, etc. Local herbalist Dr. Sebi touts marijuana for medicinal purposes. I do too, but NOT in regards to smoking it.

I'm not religious per-se, but I do see the importance in celebrating figures in history who embody ideals that other humans should aspire to. Mahatma Ghandi, Benazaar Bhutto, Mother Theresa, John Lennon, Bob Marley, Terry Fox, Nelson Mandela, Muhummad Ali, Malcolm X, and Jesus Christ (don't hate on JC because its fashionable to hate on him) They all embody the same aspirations to be better humans to one another. There is nothing wrong wanting to have a better world is there? So Happy Easter to all my Christian friends and family. Happy long weekend to anyone who doesn't observe the holiday.
If you could take Mother Theresa, John Lennon, Bob Marley with just a sprinkle of Bugs Bunny and make one person we might have a person worth voting for again.im just sayin
If I could bring back 5 music icons from the dead it'd be: Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, and 2Pac

The world needs more musicians/ writers like: Bob Marley, Kurt Cobain, Freddie Mercury , Johnny Cash, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Ronnie Van Zant , Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison!!! Heaven must sound so good. Better than what we got here
For fun. Ray Charles, liver life-expectancy shorter than expected. John Lennon, allergy to lead. Janis Joplin death by Southern Comfort. Kurt Cobain died of ennui, basically. Michael Jackson, terrible case of identity crisis. Beethoven, heptitis. Amy Winehouse, failure to follow 12 easy steps. Elvis Presley, peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Bob Marley, religion and an inability to handle digital remastering. Jim Morrisson, snort, swallow, inject repeat. Johnny Cash, death by pie. Freddy Mercury, failure to “cover his meat when he went into heat.” Duane Allman answering the long standing question: motorcycle or bus.Whitney Houston, drown in a sea of receipts. Pick one? Anyone. More talent in one paragraph than can be found on all music billboards today. “Life is for the living. Death is for the dead. Let life be like music. And death a note unsaid.” ― Langston Hughes “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” ― Plato

Dear God, give us back Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley and John Lennon, and We'll give You… —
It is clear that Spring is coming. There are lot's of folks in the market square, browsing through the new tables of dream-catchers, water-colour-charcoal drawings, cute baby coats and sweaters and jewelerry. The water-colours show images of Bob Marley, John Lennon and Jimmy Hendrix. A man by beaver-tails strums the blues: E A B. My eye catches a Canadian flag, limp and still, as if resting after mining and winning so much Gold. The Sun is strong in the middle sky, amid a few smokey clouds. There's a line up at Beaver Tails. I can smell them cooking. I remove my yellow hat to feel the Sun and circle the block again. There's a new musician plying his trade by Beaver tails this time, having replaced the acoustic blues-man with all the toonies in his guitar case. I guess he caught enough lobsters for today. The new player is playing "Farewell to Nova Scotia" on a flute. The Horse and buggies are out, both white, with a black Horse and a white Horse, side by each. I head for home, zigzagging through the stre ...
I want to be in a room with Ghandi, MLK, Dali lama, Nelson Mandela, John Lennon, Bob Marley and Steven Hawking! Humanity restored!

Pudding, a chandelier, a jacuzzi, a movie theatre, Zooey Deschanel over for a slumber party and john cusack outside my window with a boombox, a viewing of the breakfast club with all of the cast members, a massage chair, a life chat with Bob Marley and John Lennon at the kitchen table while someone from The Big Chill made breakfast for dinner while humming a happy tune, Jameson, a collaboration sung live by cyndi lauper, madonna, tori amos and Eddie Vedder, a back rub, a wall that sparkles, someone to brush my hair french braid it take it out and do it all over again, to crochet a jumprope, an invite to the 40/40 club, a good nights sleep, and a pet panda bear. Not in any particular order. Childish fantasy rant complete. Feel free to add on your own!
Also: "Went to the gym :-) " "Didn't go to the gym :-( " "It's cold (or hot)" "The whole world's against me, (but I will prevail)." "The evil NSA is watching us all" "Cops are out to kill us all" "Justin Beiber did something stupid." "So did Miley" "Kanye West said something stupid." "So did Miley" "Bob Marley was a deep philosopher and spiritual guru." "So were John Lennon, TuPac, and, apparantly, Albert Einstein." "AND so are Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Daffy Duck, various muppets, and Morticia Addams." And finally..."Selfies galore" On that note, I'm off for a while. I'm hungry, tired, and I feel my newsfeed's been sufficiently covered. Have a great evening, loved ones! XooX
I was blessed to see Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, John Lennon, Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Eric Clapton & BB King in concert
The Illuminati Bloodlines and Most Powerful Families in the World are responsible for the sacrifice of Princess Diana, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., John Lennon, John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Mahatma Gandhi, Bob Marley, Bruce Lee, Muammar Gaddafi, and many other Anti-Tyranny Truth Speakers and Spreaders of Peace. Dr. Ron Paul, Dr. LA Marzulli, Dr. Roger Lier, and many others worldwide are speaking much TRUTH. Princess Diana may have been pregnant when she was assassinated and she knew she was going to be murdered in a car accident as she wrote in a letter. Prince Diana was part of the Bloodline of King David and YAHUSHA. Prince William will be an Anti-Christ possessed leader of the New World Order who will appear as a "Savior" in 2015 using Blue Beam Technology for aliens to tell the world he is YAHUSHA when he is 33 and he will offer the plagued and famine stricken world citing he is from the Bloodline of Christ from Princess Diana although he was cloned in a test tube to look like Shroud of Turin. "Remembering Bradley Nowell" A sad day when the lead singer of "Sublime" was taken from us way too soon, his message inspired all people, of all races to forget their worries, & problems and just enjoy life & Jam, Like the late great Bob Marley, who Brad was a huge fan of and even had the great opportunity of seeing the Reggae superstar preform as a child. One can't help but wonder why our greatest talent like Bradley Nowell, John Lennon, Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Marley, Morrison, Etc... are all taken from us who all held a very similar message of unifying humanity and opposing the system, we honor these people by always remembering that "They may take our Voice , but they cannot stop the Message". PEACE.
Why are people always quick to tell us not to talk politics? That music and politics don't mix? Music is our feeling in sound, our feelings are our everyday life. On Mandela's 70th bday when he was in prison, World renounced musicians held a concert in London Wembley and the concert was aired in over 67 countries to over 600 million people. That's when the international community took note of the plight of South Africans. Musicians! Not Politicians! And all great musicians have taken upon themselves to speak out... Lucky Dube, Brenda, Bob Marley, John Lennon, Ali Farta Toure, Oliver Mtukudzi, Hugh Masekela , etc . SILENCE SERVES TO BENEFIT THE FAT CAT IN POWER, ESP THE SILENCE OF THOSE WHO HAVE THE MEANS AND THE REACH.

Bob Marley made Forbes Top Earning Dead Celebrity list with $18 million in revenue last year. I would personally like to say, financially, I contributed to that number immensely. John Lennon was at 12 million and Michael Jackson was at number one with 160+ million beating out both dead and alive musicians with madonna at 120 million.. Like snoop lion said "we need to show love while they are here."
these are the people who almost killed rock, that reduced Bob Marley, Pac, and John Lennon to images
Why do all the greatest people die so young Tupac was 25, Biggie was 24, Bob Marley was 36, Martin Luther King Jr was 39, John Lennon was 40, and Malcolm X was 39. They should all still be here today That's what happens when you fight for what is right.

I wanted to write something tonight but didn't have a clue as to who, what, where or why. One thing is for certain, no more flowery descriptive for a while ! During the past two months Netflix and yours truly have become very chummy. Specifically, we have experienced a steady diet of documentaries and Biographies. This leads down the pathway of choosing one's news and information from "alternative" sources. Shazaam! It's different! No conservative slant, no progressive bias coupled with a lot more honesty can lead to a slippery slope known as a shift in "perspective". Some of the biographies were astonishing.I'll throw out some names because I would encourage anyone who might be curious, to "see" them for yourself. Dalton Trumbo, John Muir (episode 1 of National Parks, Ken Burns), Abraham Lincoln (always worth revisiting), Lafayette, Bob Marley, Branch Rickey (Baseball, Ken Burns), Dwight Eisenhower and John Lennon. Even the Generals said that war is not the way forward for humankind which does have it' . ...

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify and vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things. And while some may see them as crazy, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do... From the George Carlin, Tupac Shakur, Afrika Bambaataa (Godfather of the Hip Hop culture), Steve Jobs, Malcom X, Martin Luther King, J.r, Rakim, Mahatma Gandhi, Charlie Chaplin, John Lennon, Muhammad Ali, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Immortal Technique, Albert Einstein, Che Guevara, KRS-One, Al Gore and The Notorious B.I.G. !

Just a small list of people who were murdered for having a vision, for doing the right thing, for standing up for what they believe in, for being revolutionist, for having a strong influence on the masses of the people, .For Having a DREAM
Bob Marley was the Third World's first pop superstar. He was the man who introduced the world to the mystic power of reggae. He was a true rocker at heart, and as a songwriter, he brought the lyrical force of Bob Dylan, the personal charisma of John Lennon, and the essential vocal stylings of Smokey Robinson into one voice. — Jann Wenner, at Marley's 1994 posthumous induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame! WHAT WOULD A JOHN LENNON INSPIRED TRIBUTE TO MARLEY SOUND LIKE?
Every morning, I wake, all flustered from my lucid dreaming, and I take a pause, vacuous of thought. Then, I immediately break out in laughter when I remember where I am and what I am in the midst of. It is always bittersweet, though. It's never without the obvious. Then, I always play something to inspire me. I'll listen to Bob Marley or John Lennon, I'll imagine the words of Einstein, Mother Theresa, or Captain Paul Watson, and I will always wonder how their words, and their actions, can and have been seen and heard by so many, all while the same set of circumstances that inspired them in their work can continue to exist. I can't imagine how they have said what they have said and done what they have done, yet we never change. War IS over, IF we want it. Don't we want it? I can't help but wonder if others feel like I do, if they are affected by the words they hear as I am. My head always falls at this point and my eyes are pulled to the ground, discouraged. Every morning, I have to muster up the strength ...

Peter Tosh served as a counterpoint to the worldwide success of his former partner Bob Marley. Their relationship is often compared to that of John Lennon and Paul Mccartney, with Tosh playing the role of the cynical Lennon to Marley's love-song-oriented McCartney. The analogy worked loosely at best, as both musicians simply followed different muses after the 1974 break-up of the original Wailers. Tosh's recorded output had as much cross-over appeal as Marley's more commercial work, culminating in a duet with *** Jagger on the song "Walk And Don't Look Back." But Tosh always had the more militant stance which resulted in many beatings and arrests leading up to his murder in 1987. Tosh's 1977 album, Equal Rights, is a peak in his career. It begins with a new version of "Get Up, Stand Up," one of Marley's signature songs (co-written by Tosh). Tosh's version is more sinewy than Marley's, with biting guitar lines snaking throughout. Likewise, "Stepping Razor" struts with a dangerous swagger, "African" plays . ...
I'm curious. I really am. I wanna go through some of these conservative republican's music collections. I'd laugh my *** off at these hypocrites if they owned any John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, The Clash/Joe Strummer, Woodie Guthrie, CSN, Rage Against The MacHine etc.etc., Bands & artists who stood up for the average person and against the fascist right-wing agendas. That's one to ponder about.
Can't wait for all of us to explore the universe in our own way without having small minds tell us how to view it. I hope I was able to at least make the truth clear and simple so we can stop going in circles and move forward. I want to mention again the people that have helped me free my mind and be able to write the poetry that has caused this movement... Bill Hicks, Terence McKenna, John Lennon, Charlie Chaplin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Andy Kaufman, Thomas Paine, Stefani Germanotta, Frida, Andy and Lana Wachowski, James Cameron and my psychedelic experiences that cleaned up the garbage fed to me my whole life. And by getting rid of those viruses, I was able to find God again in nature, in myself.
This Maths test can predict your all time hero. Try it without looking at answers. Pick a number from 1-9 , then x 3, then + 3 , then x 3 again. You'll get a 2 digit number. Seems like great opportunity to hate your neighbor and friends. I'm sorry, I will be writing in my vote for John Lennon. Maybe Bob Marley, I haven't decided. They r tryin 2 create a New World Order, which is one world wide govt. ruled by antichrist. People will have no rights or freedoms. When the antichrist comes 2 power he will bring peace 2 the world and he will appear as a good guy. Then he will murder millions of people. Everybody will forced 2 recieve the mark of the beast. Many music artists r used by the Illuminati, 2 send out corrupt and satanic messages in their music, and many of them have sold their souls 2 the devil 4 money and fame. They will award u if u go along with them. If u go against them then they will try 2 destroy ur image. Much like Michael Jackson and Tupac. Bob Marley, John Lennon, Pimp C, Michael Jackson, Tupac, Jimi Hendrix, JFK, Martin Luther King Jr, and more were all killed by the Illuminati. Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, John Lennon, Paul Mccartney, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Sprinsteen - this is some of what I have in my music library. The best advice I ever got as a photographer was, "If you want to take more interesting pictures, stand in front of more interesting things." As a novelist, the best advice I got was from Stephen King: "If you want to be a great writer, you have to read. A lot." I've applied that to my songwriting too. To be a great songwriter, you MUST listen to great songwriters, as often as possible.

Ppl who follow every word that modern main stream artists say and take it as the fruit of life and the best advice u could ever have are just plain stupid. Really ur going to take something drake or little Wayne says and use it as advice in life. They are no bob marley or John Lennon.

it seems as though every generation has a tragedy... older Americans can recall what they were doing when MLK or JFL were asassinated some remember where they were when they heard Bob Marley was killed or the day that John Lennon was killed... my 'moment' was/is 9/11... i had gotten up placed the kids on the bus & when i returned home my husband screamed "We are under attack!" i thought @ 1st that he was insane, but then we just both sat silently & watched the news. I will NEVER forget seeing people jumping out of the windows @ the Twin Towers... i will NEVER forget the BRAVE SOULS who risked theire lives on the plane that crashed in PA. & i will NEVER forget that my best friend since I was 11 yrs old worked in D.C. & that it was 3 days before phones were up & running for me to hear her sweet voice & know that she was ok. we all have our stories but 9/11 is the day to REMEMBER & it is the reason i wear all black . to REMEMBER may God Bless us all

My buddy Matt posted a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn, who died 22 years ago today. It got me thinking about musicians that we lost too soon. So here's the question: For you, who are the musicians that died in your lifetime, and in turn you feel the world most missed out on the music they would have still created? Mine would be (in no particular order): Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Lennon, Jeff Buckley, Bob Marley, Kurt Cobain, and Randy Rhodes.

I hope I dream about more great late musicians tonight. Hang w/ Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, John Lennon, Bob Marley, Tupac, and Chuck Brown.
Bob Marley was an Aquarius. John Lennon was a Libra. Martin Luther King was a Capricorn. Ghandi was a Libra. John F. Kennedy was a Gemini.
When I die, I hope I can finally see a concert headlined by John Lennon, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Syd Barrett, Keith Moon, Jim Morrison, and Frank Zappa -- with follow up performances by Kurt Cobain, Bon Scott, John Bonham, Brian Jones, both Tim and Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith, Hillel Slovak, Janis Joplin, Bob Marley, Joe Strummer, and the complete Ramones. There could also be a freestyling group with Tupac, Biggie, Jam Master Jay, and Ad Rock, as well as a jazz combo with Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Max Roach, Paul Chambers, Bill Evans, and Monk. *** that would be worth seeing.
I've made it to the same age as Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, and Bob Marley when they died. I've surpassed in age James Dean, Kurt Cobain, Heath Ledger, Chris Farley, and John Belushi. I'm quickly closing in on John Lennon and Elvis Presley.
"Everything's gonna be alright..." Bob Marley "Que sera sera, whatever will be, will be...the future's not ours to see..." Doris Day "There are no problems, only solutions..." John Lennon "Don't worry, be happy..." Bobby McFerrin "What they said..." Kevin Beam
Freddy Mercury was one of the biggest losses to music ever. He belongs in the same genius group as Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, John Lennon, etc. Add more if u can think of some.

What does ONE LOVE mean? Do you have to like John Lennon and Bob Marley to understand the term? As I prepare to host the first ever ONE LOVE FESTival this weekend on 17 acres in Malibu, Californ...
Son of the late CIA director William Colby, Carl Colby met Bob Marley backstage, at a concert in Kingston Jamaica in 1976. He gave Bob a pair of boots as a gift. When Marley tried the boots on, he screamed in pain. Apparently a sharp piece of cooper protruding through the upper sole, stuck him in his big toe. Five months later, while playing soccer, he hurt the same toe and the nail came off. After visiting a local doctor, it determine the toe could not be saved. Rastas don't believe in amputation, instead thinking Jah would heal the toe. By the end of 1977, the cancer would begin to spread throughout his body and it eventually would claim his life in 1981. His former "Wailer" band mate, Peter Tosh, was gunned down at his Jamaican home, later in 1986, in a so-called robbery. While Tosh's wife was critcally wounded, two of his band members died alongside him that night. Oddly though, nothing was stolen. Two of the three gunmen got away. The lone captured is serving a life sentence for his part and to this ...
Here are some of the good people that died young Bob Marley, Tupac, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcom X, Ghandi, John Lennon
Michael Jackson,Freddie Mercury,John Lennon,Marilyn Monroe,Whitney Houston,Amy Winehouse,Bob Marley I want you all back :(
Success takes you where character cannot sustain you. The hardest thing to do is to be true to yourself, especially when everyone is watching. Fame is not what you think it is. From Muhammad Ali to Bob Marley. From Malcolm X to Jimi Hendrix. From Tupac Shakur to Dave Chappelle. Bruce Lee, Che Guevara, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Diana Princess of Wales, Martin Luther King Jr, John F. Kennedy, Yitzhak Rabin I have learned from all of them. The line in the sand has been drawn and the Illuminati is far more powerful then they ever told you. It's impressive how many more people nowadays are paying attention to why so many great men/women die young and why so many incredible ideas for revolution fade to black. Let's not forget Aaron Gabriel, Kenny Nolasco, Brenda Nolasco, Paris Williford, Brianne Hawkins, Nabeel Khan, and all of you I conspire with in the DMV: WE GOT WORK TO DO!
Illuminati 1975 up, 838 down The *** who killed Michael Jackson to prevent him from Revealing the truth about the New World Order on July 8th,2009 during his concerts. The Illuminati has also killed Tupac, Bob Marley, and John Lennon.

No disrespect to Tupac but I want to see a hologram of Jimi, Janis Joplin, Bob Marley, Elvis, Cash, Kurt Cobain, or John Lennon
Bob Marley was an ambassador of universal global peace. That is why the CIA assassinated him. Great men who are a threat to the elites have been systematically eliminated time and time again (i.e., Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Robert F.Kennedy, and John Lennon). Bob spoke spiritual truth to power. He was nearly murdered in 1976 when he refused to support the U.S. backed puppet presidential candidate of Jamaica. Two days before the “Smile Jamaica” festival Marley’s home was shot up with automatic weapons and he received two bullet wounds. The CIA finished the job when Marley tried on a boot that was ostensibly given to him by a fan (who was none other than Carl Colby, the son of CIA Director William Colby). The boot was fitted with a small syringe filled with a fast-acting cancer agent that ended his life prematurely (Source: Alex Constantine). The following video is Marley performing live at the Rainbow Theatre in 1977. “Crazy Baldhead” is a song warning the s ...
