So, just finished reading Paper Towns by John Green. This man is easily my second favorite author of all time (Harper Lee and "Mockingbird" still number one, and probably always will be). Paper Towns should be on the official "list of books to read before you die." Seriously though, John Green. Awesomeness.

Hanging out with John Green watching the race
Enjoying the retirement party for United States Army personnel CW4 Keith Erwin, CW4 Gene McDaniel, CW2 John Green, SFC Luanna Mills, and SSG Jason Johnston. Nice to see a good turn out of fellow retires and former unit members to honor their service. I'm creeping up on my 20 years very soon, and while I currently have no plans to retire just yet, I can't help but think that retirement is essentially in my near future, all things considered. The Army has been very good to me, and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to have served. Couple more years to go, but I'm honestly dreading my last day. This has bee such a huge part of my life, and in spite of the wars and trying times, I'll miss it when the time comes.
Today, I got the best compliment of my life. Someone told me I remind them of John Green. I am forever indebted and am so forever flattered.
Itd be pretty cool if john green wrote An Imperial Affliction from The Fault In Our Stars. 🙌📚

A big reason for this upswing was the booming popularity of YA novels. Authors like John Green (The Fault in our Stars, Looking for Alaska), Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games trilogy), and Stephenie Meyer (the Twilight series) sold and continue to sell millions of books at a time when the publishing industry was supposed to be in freefall. Not only that, but the success of the fledgling genre even led to a reclassification of some classic novels; The Catcher in the Rye (now considered the original YA novel), Fahrenheit 451, the Lord of the Rings series, and To Kill a Mockingbird all graced NPR’s 100 Best-Ever Teen Novels.
I regret killing Augustus, I should have killed the cancer instead and let him and Hazel live happily ever after. - John Green

The Rules: Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen authors (poets included) who've made you feel any kind of emotions when you read their works. List the first 15 you can recall in no more than 15 minutes. Try to tag at least 15 friends, including me, because I'm interested in seeing what authors my friends choose. 1. Enid Blyton (Where it all started) 2. Dan Brown (Best 48 hours thriller novels I've read) 3. J.K. Rowling (Duh!) 4. Gabrielle Zevin (Elsewhere, amazing novel!) 5. Nicholas Sparks (A walk to remember) 6. Rick Riordan (My reason for all things Greek mythos related) 7. Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games Trilogy except the last part :\ ) 8. Samuel Taylor Coleridge (Rime of the Ancient Mariner) 9. Cornelia Funke (Dragon Rider) 10. Sidney Sheldon (Somehow the only thrillers that can grasp me) 11. Robert Frost (The road not taken) 12. John Green (Looking for Alaska) 13. Agatha Christie 14. Stephenie Meyer 15. Ruskin Bond (Rusty)
This is my ever longest cry for a novel (and still crying). Maybe I won't stop until John Green says that the whole thing is a joke. You know.. it just hurts when you assume that everything is ok.. that Gus is cured. That Hazel Grace will die first. But they will have more time together before that. Then what? A sudden recurrence?! Then he died! I just feel like I am Hazel. Angry! Angry at everything! Need I say more? Well.. "Without pain, we couldn't know joy".
John Green has managed to break my heart...again

Wowow - the YA/MG end of the looks PHENOM this year. John Green! Veronica Roth! Daniel Handler! Rainbow Rowell! & list goes on
I feel like John Green is going to age into Drew Carey.
The Fault in Our Stars, directed by Josh Boone and starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, doesn’t hit theaters till June 6 but, judging from the reaction to the trailer that was released this week, excitement for the film is running high. Adapted from the John Green bestseller (and an EW Best Fiction of 2012 pick), TFIOS tells the story of two teenagers who meet in a cancer recovery group and fall in love. But, of course, for people familiar with the book, that plot description doesn’t begin to convey the depth, poignancy and humor in Green’s novel. “It’s difficult to say to people, ‘go see this movie that’s about sick kids—you’re going to have a really good time,’” Green told EW. “But you are. I think the answer is to make something that, even when it’s sad, is not depressing. The great thing about the trailer is that you emerge from watching it feeling invigorated and encouraged. And hopefully excited.” Green saw the trailer about a month ago and admits he was nervous se ...

My 13 yo girl ABSOLUTELY LOVES John Green. Don't think they're gender specific. Douglas Adams? Carl Hiassen teen fiction?
Hi everyone! I am so excited to be a part of Schreyers next year, it is really a dream come true. I live in Lafayette Hill, PA, right outside of Philadelphia, and I actually committed to PSU before I got the SHC decision. I am going to major in music education, with a concentration on flute, although I also sing, play the piano in the jazz band, play piccolo and saxophone, and play vibes in indoor drumline. Music is my passion, and I hope to become a high school band director after graduation. I am (hopefully) going to march Blue Band, which is another dream of mine, and I couldn't be more excited! I also love reading (John Green, Jane Austen, CS Lewis and Tamora Pierce especially), I watch an unnatural amount of TV (Supernatural, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Grey's Anatomy, Community and the list just goes on and on) and listening to music (Streetlight Manifesto being my favorite band at the moment). I am ridiculously excited for next year, I just wish it was here already! I can't wait to meet all of you, and . ...

Just finished reading "The Fault in our Stars" (2012) by John Green. Wonderful but poignant... Cried till the words got all wavy on the page and I had to get a tissue. If you have an interest in the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright you might enjoy "Loving Frank" (2007) by Nancy Horan. Couldn't put it down!!!
Hey Katy FHE. We forgot to choose a book for our book club the other week! Here are the choices. Vote for one or two, and we'll go from there. "I could imagine it. I could remember it. But I couldn't see it again, and it occurred to me that the voracious ambition of humans is never sated by dreams coming true, because there is always the thought that everything might be done better and again." - John Green, though the stunning fictitious apparition that is Hazel Grace Lancaster
"The weird thing about houses is that they almost always look like nothing is happening inside of them, even though they contain most of our lives. I wondered if that was sort of the point of architecture." - by Hazel Grace Lancaster in John Green's The Fault in our Stars. :)
Am I the only one who doesn't like how "The Fault In Our Stars" ended? I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the book as a whole, as a matter of fact, I thought it was a well written book and I recommend it to everyone. It's just, the ending. I wish it ended sadder than what it did. "I do" being the last words said by Hazel Grace is very inconclusive in my opinion. I guess I was wanting to read on about her dying. Although that would be difficult because you don't write once you're dead. So I guess John Green could get away on a count of technicality. I will still go see the movie in theaters June 6th!!!
Haunted by Chuck Palahnuik or Looking for Alaska by John Green.
ANYTHING by John Green, so good, I also love Christopher Moore he's hilarious
Like, John Green is open to apologizing when he does something wrong. Because it was an accident. And he's still learning. Like everyone.

I think tonight's American Dad episode is making fun of John Green.
Today's Black History Fact: Central High School in Cleveland. The first free, public high school west of the Alleghenies, it enrolled black students before the Civil War. Writer Langston Hughes, U.S. Rep. Louis Stokes and Benjamin O. Davis, the first black general, graduated from Central. Other notables: John Green, the city's first black elected official (justice of the peace, 1873), Mary B. Martin, the first black elected school board member (1929) and bandleader Noble Sissle. Reflecting racial patterns, black students grew from a sliver of the school in the early 1900s to a large majority by the 1930s. Stokes, Class of '43, said teachers stressed that students could be "as good or better than" any in the city. Central opened on Prospect Avenue in 1846, promptly moved near East Ninth Street and Euclid Avenue and shifted to East 55th Street in 1878. The final incarnation opened in 1940 on East 40th Street and is now an elementary school named for Carl and Louis Stokes. Central merged with East Tech in 19 ...

MANILA, Philippines – To say that The Fault in Our Stars has a cult following can be a bit of an understatement. John Green's fourth solo novel tackles the story of Hazel (Shailene Woodley), a cancer patient who falls in love with a guy named Gus (Ansel Elgort) who's on remission – a state ...
The Fault In Our Stars is a fabulous book about a young teenage girl Hazel Grace Lancaster who has been diagnosed with lung cancer and attends a cancer support group. Hazel meets a young boy named Augustus Waters. He is charming and witty. Augustus has had osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, but has recently had the all clear. Hazel and Augustus embark on a roller coaster ride of emotions, including love, sadness and romance, while searching for the author of their favourite book. They travel to Amsterdam in search of Peter Van Houten the author of An Imperial Affliction. While on their trip Augustus breaks some heartbreaking news to Hazel and both of their worlds fall apart around them. Expect to cry and smile throughout this masterpiece by the amazing John Green. :)
Someone recommended a Dan Brown book to me, and I already love John Green so I guess I have a thing for authors whose last names are colors?

Top 10 (and a little more) novels of 2013 I know, just what the world needs –another Top Ten List. But retirement seems to have released “precious bodily fluids” compelling me to undertake such arcane tasks. And for this, I humbly apologize. Most of these books were published last year but there are also a couple of books I read some time ago and they made the list because I really, really liked them and am convinced they will make your life better. I already shared these three and they still remain my favorites of the year. The Interestings, Meg Wolitzer A Tale for the Time Being, Ruth Ozeki The Flamethrowers, Rachel Kushner In no particular order, these are the rest of my fave-raves for 2013. Billy Lynn’s Halftime Walk, Ben Fountain, 2012 Funniest and most poignant book about soldiering I’ve ever read. The Fault in Our Stars, John Green, 2011 YA that transcends YA. “Lucky Charms are like the vampires of breakfast cereal. They’re magical, they’re delicious, they’re a little bit dangerous and bad for you. They initially make you feel great, but then over time you realize that maybe your relationship with Lucky Charms is just a little bit unhealthy and you start to think, ‘Maybe I don’t want to be in a long-term relationship with a breakfast cereal that tastes delicious but damages my health.’ But then the Lucky Charms gets all stalker on you and for some reason you kind of like that. It makes you feel special. So yeah, you spend your life with Lucky Charms. That’s awesome. That’s a great way to get diabetes.”-John Green 💜

So Obama referenced how urgent it is to close Guantanamo Bay for his sixth State of the Union address in a row. I do think John Green said it better than I could: If congress was literally and physically on fire, they would still have trouble passing a 'throw water on congress' bill.

Dreaming of a French Connection? Take a look at John Green's two page spread in the Living section of today's Sunday Independent. John travelled with Kelair Campotel last summer to Camping La Pinede in La Charente Maritime. He recounts the full experience from getting on the ferry in Cork to visiting the main attractions in the area such as La Palmyre zoo-France's largest privately owned zoo.
”I don't believe that everybody gets to keep their eyes or not to get sick or whatever, but everybody should have true love and it should last at least as long as your life does.” - John Green („The fault in our stars”)
I am wiped out. I just finished The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I couldn't stop reading and for a while I couldn't stop crying. Review to be posted once I rehydrate.
“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.” ― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars
“You can never love someone as much as you can miss them.” . ― John Green
For once I won't post about my own writing (I know, silly of me to do so, but whatever)...if you are looking for something to read, I highly recommend John Green. Check out: Looking for Alaska, Fault in Our Stars, and Paper Towns. I've read the three of them in the last couple of days. Awesomsauce.
Getting ready to hop a plan to San Fransisco for Wootstock (Sunday) and a book signing at Borderlands (Monday.) As always, in the hours when I'm scrambling madly to get ready for the trip I think the same four things: 1. Where are my pants? 2. I really should have gotten a haircut about a week ago. I look like a cross between John the Baptist and a Muppet. 3. I should really buy some adult clothes. I don't own anything except for geek t-shirts and a single pair of jeans. 4. What am I going to read on this trip? The third one of these occupies more time than anything else, including packing my clothes and driving to the airport. This trip it's going to be: The Shibboleth (because I have an ARC and I loved the first book.) Vampire Academy. (Not because there's a movie coming out. But because I like Richelle's writing.) The Fault in our Stars. (Because I've been meaning to read John Green for ages. And also, apparently, because I want to cry in front of a plane full of stranger all day.) Three books should g ...

People are always asking the staff at the Library what books they are reading. For some of us, the answer changes daily! Therefore, last January, we decided to compile lists of the top ten books we read in 2012. The lists were so popular that we decided to do it again! Not all books were published in 2013, it is simply the year in which we finally found the opportunity to read them. All books are owned by the Poultney Public Library, and are listed in no particular order. Rebecca’s Top Ten Books Read in 2013 “The Name of the Star” by Maureen Johnson “The Ocean at the End of the Lane” by Neil Gaiman “Game” by Barry Lyga “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern “The Fault in our Stars” by John Green “Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe” by Benjamin Alire Saenz “The Girl with Borrowed Wings” by Rinsai Rosetti “The Dream Thieves” by Maggie Stiefvater “The Coldest Girl in Coldtown” by Holly Black “Fangirl” by Rainbow Rowell ~ Dawn’s Top T ...

Yes, it's true: Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth and John Green are brilliant authors. But does everyone has to break a fangirl's feels? I mean, is it so hard to write a novel without killing the best characters? I also love "Pride and Prejudice" and "Northanger Abbey" by Jane Austen... Simple love stories, but at least no one had to die. You can write amazing novels and create great love stories, suspense and dramatic scenes without a bunch of deaths.
"I knew these people were genuinely sad, and that I wasn't really mad at them. I was mad at the universe. Even so, it infuriated me: You get all these friends just when you don't need friends anymore." - Hazel Grace Lancaster, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - Ohh so much feels ;~;
