For all you John Green bandwagoners who hopped the trend with The Fault In Our Stars, how aboutcha read his other 5 books!!
"Infinity is not a large number. It is something else entirely. It is boundlessness. We live in a world defined by boundaries: you cannot travel faster than the speed of light. You must and will die. You cannot escape these boundaries. But the miracle and hope of human consciousness is that we can still conceive of boundlessness." -John Green About a year ago, I was looking for something new to read. At the request of many I looked into some books by John Green. I went to the book store and perused his works and picked up his newest novel: The Fault in Our Stars. I bought it and of course started reading it right away. I finished it in a matter of hours. Laughed. Cried. Fell in love with it. I was obsessed. I got others obsessed. With the story. With the characters. This wasn't an ordinary story. Not for me anyway. It hit closer to home. The main character, Hazel Grace Lancaster, has the exact same cancer as me. "Thyroid originally but with an impressive and long-settled satellite colony in my lungs." I . ...

Just screw you, Veronica Roth. You're worse than John Green.
Movie: The Fault In Our Stars (Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern)…Based on the recent best-selling YA (Young Adult) book by John Green (a tear jerker). The movie is yet another tear jerker, about two teenagers who meet in cancer support group, fall in love, and travel their illness roads together. Shailene Woodley (The Descendents) as Hazel is absolutely lovely, she's very natural and relatable. Ansel Elgort as Gus, a little over-the-top charming, but sweet none the less. If you've ever been to Amsterdam, their "Make A Wish" trip there will bring you fond memories of a gorgeous city. Surprise performance by Willem Dafoe as the bad guy, only two scenes but packs a hugh punch. Bring kleenex.

On one of the forums I post on, a cancer survivor had this to say about "TFiOS." The book and movie are currently getting a lot of positive coverage from Fox's marketing, so I think we should all remember that not everyone who has dealt with cancer - be it directly, or having loved ones who passed away from cancer - is okay with the way in which TFiOS presents itself: "My biggest issue is this, TFioS relies so heavily on the fetishization of a terminal illness, and the only reason I realized it was because the issue was so close to me. The main point of the book is that the girl has cancer and therefore only a limited number of days to love. In my mind at least, the love becomes better for having cancer. That the cancer makes their love mean something. That without the cancer their love is boring and bland. I know this isn't the intent. John Green is a wonderful person and actually a good ally who cares about people's feelings. So it's not so much that john green intended to fetishize the cancer, but when ...

2 years ago I read The Fault In our Stars & when I finished, it was the most I've ever cried in my entire life (not even exaggerating). I saw the movie last night & it blew my mind. I cried so much, but there were also sweet funny moments that made me laugh. The actors beautifully brought to life the characters I loved from the book. John Green is a genius. Thank you for your masterpiece.

"Right, that's why I said tomorrow," he said. "I want to see you again tonight. But I'm willing to wait all night and much of tomorrow." I rolled my eyes. "I'm serious," he said. True confession time: Before I wrote full-time, I wore clothes. Real clothes with buttons and zippers and cinched waistlines and even the occasional glitter/sequin embellishment. And bras. Always bras. Now, you usually see me in yoga pants and the tank top I was sleeping in two days ago. Today I went to go see The Fault in Our Stars and thought I'd put on a bra because... it's John Green. And he's bra worthy, right? I made it through the movie but literally had to pull over and take it off on the drive home. Down with bras. Up with words. I think Mr. Green would agree.
In New Jersey for my Aunt Mary Lou's funeral. As I was flying from Hawaii in a skycan toward Philadelphia, Kid1 and her friends went to see "The Fault in Our Stars" at Dole Cannery. I decided to read John Green's book on my Kindle Fire from Honolulu to LAX. Better than Love Story from the '70s. As our people pipe plummeted into Philly, I finished another Young Adult book: "Thirteen Reasons Why," by Jay Asher. I may be here to celebrate the life of a fun and feisty aunt, but these two books made me quite introspective. Don't be afraid to be a grenade (Fault in our Stars). Don't let someone slip away without explanation (13). We exist to take care of each other!
Like my three favourite authors are Neal Shusterman, Robyn Schneider and Patrick Ness. They're all every bit as talented as John Green.

Just finished the 1st chapter of "The Fault in Our Stars", and while there was a touch of Twilight in there, I'll keep going because it's hilarious. Not that kids with cancer is humorous, but John Green puts such wit and snark into his first-person narrative by Hazel. Bravo.

That's the thing about pain, it demands to be felt. - John Green

I'm Marlena and I'm from Thornhill (suburbs of the GTA) I will be attending Ottawa for the Nursing collaboration program at Woodroffe :) I love being outdoors, travelling and taking on new experiences.
