Do you like autographed books?? Check out our newly updated 'signed books' page! I bought two signed books by Maureen Johnson yesterday and ordered a signed book of John Green today
In any event, I am still incredibly amused by the irony of Maureen Johnson writing "John Green fanfic," given his stated opinions on RPF.

Saying ‘I notice you’re a nerd’ is like saying, ‘Hey, I notice that you’d rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you’d rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?’ — John Green
John Green got a C- in high school precal so never give up ok
Hi there my name’s John Green; this is Crash Course World History and today we’re going to talk about Jesus. This is a Roman coin from around the time Jesus was born in the Roman Empire, and it calls Augustus, the emperor, the son of God. So let’s just state at the outset that in 4 BCE, being the son of God, or at least being the son of a god was not such an unusual thing. But a poor Jew being the son of God — that was news. Any understanding of Christianity has to start with Judaism, because Jesus was born a Jew, and he grew up in the Jewish tradition. He was one of many teachers spreading his ideas in the Roman province of Judea at the time, and he was part of a messianic tradition that helps us understand why he was thought of not only teacher but something much, much more. Let’s go straight to the Thought Bubble today. The people who would become the Jews, were just one of many tribal peoples eeking out an existence in that not-very fertile crescent world of Mesopotamia after the agric ...

'The Fault in Our Stars': Why Shailene Woodley & Ansel Elgort Will Be Perfect "The Fault in Our Stars" has begun production in Pittsburgh, and it's one of the fastest page-to-screen adaptations in recent movie history. Award-winning author John Green's runaway critical and commercial success (it topped dozens of Best of 2012 lists) was published in January 2012, and the film is scheduled to hit theaters next year. There's a lot riding on getting this brilliant young adult novel right, because unlike the trendy genre fare, this is a story about teens falling in love while dealing with very real and unthinkable issues -- terminal cancer prognoses -- and there's nary a vampire, werewolf or dystopian government in sight. "The Fault in Our Stars," unlike some books-to-movies that the audience may not even realize are adaptations until the credits roll, is one of those best-selling, zeitgeist-capturing works like "Harry Potter," "The Hunger Games," and yes, even that little vampire phenomenon "Twilight," that a ...
I could spend hours in WHSmith it's, looking at books to buy. Tempted to buy John Green's books today not sure if I want it hard copy though
John Green recently made a video promoting universal healthcare. This is my critique. In the Youtube video, Green says that defensive medicine costs, at maximum, $55 million each year. This contrasts with a Gallup report that found that that one in four healthcare dollars spent in healthcare can be attributed to defensive medicine – about $650 billion annually (1). To be fair most studies have found tort reform to have negligible effects on lowering costs (1). Green also goes on to say that disease prevalence has nearly no effects on health care costs. He shows a pie chart with no citation to justify this. He also says the argument that obesity contributes to health care costs is not supported by data. Contrary to Green’s claim, the Robert Wood Johnson foundation found that obesity accounts for an estimated 12 percent of the health spending growth in recent years (2). Also, researchers at the Milken Institute predict a 42 percent increase in chronic disease cases by 2023, adding $4.2 trillion in t ...

I am a librarian. I am a slow reader. When I was young 'slow reader' was a polite way of saying, 'not too smart.' I started a book Memorial Day Weekend. I finished it tonight. You know what- you don't have to read it fast for a book to work it's magic. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green changed what I think - how i feel about being human and mortal. Maybe in a more profound way because it took me six weeks to read it. Wonderful Book.

I am way too obsessed with John Green's Mental Floss series
I was watching crashcourse on YouTube yesterday. World history( i finished the literature and us history already). The man said something that really struck a chord with me and I've been thinking about a lot. The pyramids where built around 2500 BCE during the old kingdom. King tut died in 1200 BCE, 1200 years later. That is five and a half Americas. But because Egypt was so similar for so long it all tends to blend together. Ancient Egypt lasted 1000 years longer than Christianity has existed( 3000 years total) and 800 years longer than China. There was an entire civilization that lasted longer than western culture has existed and it had run its course and ended before western was even born. That is a paraphrase of what John Green said. If that doesn't give you pause, I don't know what to say, but it probably should.
So i was thinking of changing my admin name(again) xD Any suggestions? I want something that's related to Alaska Young or Hazel Grace(the characters from two John Green books) cause i'm having the biggest fictional crush on Alaska right now xD Even though i'm a girl and i'm straight. xD Draco's Indigo Llama

I'm usually pretty good with Anita Sarkeesian and Feminist Frequency, but going through old videos I watched her episode on "Manic Pixie Dream Girls". It made some good points, but I was kinda weirded out by the small inclusion of Clementine from "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". Clem wasn't solely there to teach Joel how to live or "complete him". She even says goes on a speech about "I'm just a f***ed-up girl who's lookin' for my own peace of mind; don't assign me yours." She's all about getting her own happiness in order. She erases him in the first place when things aren't working out. Now in Joel's mind, there is his version of Clem that he's trying to "save". Even then, she's not super gung *** about it. "Joel do we have to keep running", etc, etc. I say she's more of a play/breakdown of the trope, like Margo of John Green's "Paper Towns". Clem did encourage him to have fun and live life but that wasn't her sole purpose in the film, nor was it the main point of the movie. /soapbox

Anyone know of any good books? I have whipped through my summer reading and i'm half way through "The Fault in Our Stars" By: John Green (btw: amazing book, if you haven't read it, you should!) I need a book to read while I'm in Florida next week! :)
What others have said about/in conversation with The Yara... "I just wanted to say how freaking awesome you are" and "Wow. You're really good on screen too. Fantastic. Wow. Very impressed, jeez!" ~Andrew Slack, HPA co-founder, on her general awesomeness and ability to talk comfortably and well on-screen. "So impressed" and "Can't stop thinking about this." ~Danica Johnson, John Green's assistant, on a video Yara made in response to the Boston Bombings. "That's actually my dream just, like, diving into a sea of books." ~Evanna Lynch, commenting on the sheer volume of books PotterWatch had collected. "Did you have the waffles!?" ~Meredith Stepien, Starkid member, asking Yara about her breakfast.
Alfie may not be able to talk yet , but boy he can fangirl like crazzzyyy! And when he does talk it will be words of wisdom , he will be like Jesus mixed with John Green and he will have the sass of Dan Howell and the looks of Logan Lerman mixed with Jack and Finn Harries .. so basically my kid is a freaking god! Alfie the sexy sassy annihilator will be his new nickname. :3

I'm so jel. heard you like John Green. you read Looking For Alaska?
This started out because a friend linked me to an article with author John Green's opinion on self-publishing, which is available at He said it would bring a smile on my face. He knows me well. I have not yet read John Green's literature, although I've heard good things about him and have been curious for a while. But he seemed beautifully expressive in the article, and I agree with everything he says, and it made me want to add a few things of my own. Of course, I work in the commercial ('trade') publishing industry, so my opinion is likely to be biased. I chose to do this job. I had the privilege to choose. People who buy and read trade books also have the privilege to make those choices. (I'm yet to meet a real-life person who forsakes a day's meal to buy and read a book, although let's assume for the argument's sake that these people exist. They'll still be a painful minority.) They have the privilege of having acquired a certain kind of leisure and a certain taste. They have the privilege o ...

Gonna apologize for any spelling mistakes now. Does anyone else evrr wish you could just majically transmit your thoughts to paper? As I've said before, I like to read books from John Green. And then, I challenge myself and try to make a charcter or quote as loved as his. Right now, I feel like Alaska Young from Looking For Alaska. I was feeling so proud/happy about my writing because I had managed to create a character who was absolutly perfect and I had written almost 53 pages with about 6 freakin amazing quotes and then I was mid sentence when I got mad at my writing and just chucked it across the room where it knocked over a glass of water and it RUINED my notebook. So then I tried to fix it but the pages literally disintegrated in my hands so now I have about 15 unruined pages of writing. But then, I was like "You know what. Why don't you just write about a reletivly normal character who finds a ruined notebook and tries to find the author." but then I remembered that I'm an absolute failure at myste ...
