Such a shame. Worth a watch, but not a keeper. Extra points for including the Cleese eulogy from Chapman's funeral though.

It occurred to me this past week that the Pope's retirement would make a great premise for a Brit-com. It would have to be British; I don't think American television could pull it off. Okay, here's the premise. The Pope, beloved by millions world-wide, shocks the world by announcing his retirement. What the world doesn't know is that the College of Cardinals forced him to retire because the Holy Father (played by Benny Hill) is becoming a bit daffy in his old age. And he's a first class perv. His strait-laced sucessor (played by John Cleese) hopes that the ex-Pope will go into a nice tasteful seculsion, but instead, he moves into an apartment adjacent to the Holy See, and keeps popping in just when it's most annoying. Throw in the Holy Father's domineering housekeeper, (the only person capable of putting the Fear of God into him) and the New Pope's Not *** At All Private Secretary and we have all sorts of comic possibilities. Granted, Benny Hill's dead, so he probably isn't available. Still, I thin ...

I have a theory about James Bond, which actually explains his multiple accents and ages and how Judi Dench was "M" through Brosnan and Craig, however Skyfall puts it into question. My theory is this: Bond is an orphan. "M" even said that orphans make the best agents because they have no family to be concerned about. I think James Bond is an alias, a codename assigned to agent 007. When one dies or retires (and Double 0's have a short life expectancy), a new one is recruited and given the name. Hence, 007 can be anyone anywhere, making him a perfect spy as he blends in. So, I think Brosnan's 007 died and Craig's was recruited. This theory is clearly in practice concerning "M" and "Q", as John Cleese has been "Q" as was Desmond Llewelyn and Ben Whishaw. Then again, "Q" just stands for Quartermaster. However, there have been many people called "M" in the series. So, does my theory hold any water?

This is my new favorite movie!
