It doesn't surprise me at all that Ruben Amaro Jr. "accidently" traded one of our prospects to Houston for Hunter Pence. The man is so set on ruining the future that it should have happened more often. That being said, the Phillies future is the grimiest in the MLB. The roster is currently filled with old, washed up, payroll eating players, and they have the worst farm system around. The only way to somewhat fix the issue is to trade Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and Cliff Lee and hope you get some young, competent players in return. If you can also find a way to trade Jonathan Paplebon, Cole Hamels and Ryan Howard, more power to you. But I don't see any trades coming at all. RAJ actually thinks that this team is a playoff contender, Lol.
Pre Season Phils outlook: Greetings ALL: 2 weeks until pitchers and catchers and tonight I'll take an early look at the 2013 Phils. Questions abound so let's ask them: How do we know Ryan Howard Will return to form? Ditto Chase Utley or even if he will play? Michael Youngs a year older and in the national league. How will that play out? Seems like the only real " SOLID " in the Phils infield is the guy everybody wanted to get rid of: Jimmy Rollins. Kevin Frandsen returns and so does Freddy Galvis but they are back ups! At least for game 1. In the outfield: Ben Revere will be in center! The BIG question is how much of left field AND right field will he also be RESPONSIBLE for??? Rookie Darin Ruf could hit 35 home runs reminiscent of the Bull Greg Luzinski. Sadly, his outfield speed is ALSO about what Luzinskis was! In right, Lions and Tigers and DELMON YOUNG oh my! Mainly a DH, another who could give you 30 HR's. BUT how many runs will his defense give up??? And You thought Hunter Pence was FUN out there? ...
Good riddens Hunter Pence!!! Now if only Charlie Manuel can pull Jimmy Rollins out of his butt, drop him down in the lineup, and have Juan Pierre bat 1st.
Well.I guess the phillies have waved the white flag for this season. Trading Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence to the Dodgers and Giants is a desperate move. I really don't see how the players that they get in return will help this team. I expect Joe Blanton to be traded as well as possibly Jimmy Rollins. To trade rollins would be a mistake in my opinion. But then..I'm just a baseball fan. It's not like the Philadelphia Phillies will listen to me.
Jimmy Rollins *** Shane Victorino gets the most meaningless hits in MLB. Hunter Pence, you are not Vlad. Stop swinging at every friggin pitch. Polanco, just go away. ***
Hunter Pence, Juan Pierre, and Jimmy Rollins star in: "Manos: Bats of Fate"
Barry Larkin just said Jimmy Rollins and Hunter Pence have picked up the slack for the Phillies this year. Have we watched the same season?
Jimmy Rollins makes Jayson Werth and Hunter Pence look like clutch hitters.
Phils postgame notes ∙ The Phillies extended their winning streak to a season-high six games. It is their longest streak since last year’s season-long nine-game streak, July 29-August 6, 2011. ∙ Cole Hamels extended his winning streak to a career-best six games (previous high were a pair of five-game streaks in 2010 and 2011). During his current winning streak, he is 6-0 with a 2.20 ERA (12 ER, 49.0 IP) in seven starts. ∙ Hamels improved to 4-0 with a 1.97 ERA (7 ER, 32.0 IP) in five career starts against the Red Sox. ∙ Jonathan Papelbon remained perfect in save situations this season (12-for-12). ∙ Carlos Ruiz has 19 RBI in 16 games this month. ∙ Over his last nine games, Freddy Galvis is batting .353 (12-for-34) with seven extra-base hits (5 2B, 3B, HR). He had seven extra-base hits over his first games of the season in 90 at-bats. ∙ Hunter Pence had his 12th multi-hit game of the season. ∙ Jimmy Rollins has reached base safely in each of his last 13 games (12 hits, 9 walks). He is ...
Hunter Pence, Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino are making $31 million this year. They have a combined WAR of -0.4.
Remember when guys like Shane Victorino, Jimmy Rollins, and Hunter Pence used to play for the Phillies?
Ryan Howard is on the DL, as is Chase Utley. Hunter Pence, Shane Victorino, and John Mayberry, Jr. have been struggling. And Jimmy Rollins has no business being in the leadoff spot.
Sac fly to by Hunter Pence. Jimmy Rollins scores. After 1: 1 0
My Luke might be the luckiest kid. We went to the Braves game last night and before the game started he got autographs from Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino, Pete Orr, Hunter Pence, Charlie Manuel and Laynce Nix. During the game we had 2 foul balls hit right at us, Luke got one and the guy behind us got one. We went on watching that awesome game. After the game Luke wanted to go see if he could get any autographs from the Braves players so we walk to the parking lot where they park. Livan Hernandez came out and got into a Rolls Royce and LUke died laughing at the funny car he was driving but he stopped and gave Luke a autograph but to top off the whole night Jason Heyward pulls out and stops and gives Luke a GAME USED BAT. That was a night he will remember for a while. As soon as he got in the car he went to sleep holding that bat as tight as he could. What a Night!!!
Jimmy Rollins is batting leadoff in Saturday’s game against the Cubs. Manager Charlie Manuel decided to go with a completely different lineup card. Hunter Pence is batting third, not clean-up. Laynce Nix is starting in left field and batting sixth.
I do not mind if the Phillies played smart small ball all year with Juan Pierre, Shane Victorino, and Jimmy Rollins, and then use Hunter Pence to bring them in.
