Jimmy Rollins - out. Cole Hamels - out. Cliff Lee, Roy Halliday, Roy Oswalt - out. . Who is this Phillies team?
looking at a closet that includes Jimmy Rollins, Cliff Lee, Dom Brown, and Roy Halladay shirseys, I'm hesitant
Cliff Lee and Mike Adams updates, Jimmy Rollins honored and why the were successful on the road:
It doesn't surprise me at all that Ruben Amaro Jr. "accidently" traded one of our prospects to Houston for Hunter Pence. The man is so set on ruining the future that it should have happened more often. That being said, the Phillies future is the grimiest in the MLB. The roster is currently filled with old, washed up, payroll eating players, and they have the worst farm system around. The only way to somewhat fix the issue is to trade Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and Cliff Lee and hope you get some young, competent players in return. If you can also find a way to trade Jonathan Paplebon, Cole Hamels and Ryan Howard, more power to you. But I don't see any trades coming at all. RAJ actually thinks that this team is a playoff contender, Lol.
Cliff Lee gets the ball for Mike Trout day at the bank. Lee (3-3, 3.64 ERA) will face 27-year-old righty Matt Shoemaker who has pitched in four major-league games with a 4.05 ERA this season in the bigs and a 6.31 ERA in the minors. Former Phillie John McDonald is in lineup for the Angels with Raul Ibanez also on the roster. Here's the Phillies lineup: 1. Ben Revere, cf 2. Jimmy Rollins, ss 3. Chase Utley, 2b 4. Ryan Howard, 1b 5. Marlon Byrd, rf 6. Dom Brown, lf 7. Carlos Ruiz, c 8. Cody Asche, 3b 9. Cliff Lee, p
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Jimmy Rollins had a grand slam during his memorable Opening Day for the Philadelphia Phillies, who needed a lot of runs to get usually reliable ace Cliff Lee a victory in his return to Texas.
There's 5 days until the Orioles Opening Day! Here are teams in my very OFFICIAL Power Rankings. 25. Philadelphia Phillies Can you believe that it was just two seasons ago that the Phillies had clinched their 5th straight division title? Just a year before that, they were making their 3rd straight NLCS appearance. To see them now, you would have to wonder how things got this bad so quickly. In truth, it’s due to the fact that the Phillies’ ownership seems desperate to hold onto their aging, and quickly decling, veterans (For reasons beyond human comprehension, surely). SS Jimmy Rollins seems to already be in the doghouse of new Manager Ryne Sandberg, which doesn’t bode well for the team that will need him to have any success. Elsewhere, the Phillies maintain a very old but somewhat capable roster. SP AJ Burnett decided against retirement in favor of signing with the Phillies. He’ll help to support SP Cliff Lee in a rotation that will be without SP Cole Hamels for the start of the season. Burnett a ...
Thanks to Cliff Lee & for our baseball package with Jimmy Rollins & Chase Utley at
Tovar delivers big hit in debut as Mets sweep Phils . Wilfredo Tovar made his Major League debut in style Sunday, coming through for the Mets with the game-winning hit, off Phillies ace Cliff Lee, no less. Tovar's single to left with two on in the seventh rallied the Mets from a 2-1 deficit and sent New York to its first sweep of the Phillies since May 7-9, 2012, with a 4-3 win at Citizens Bank Park. Carlos Torres pitched six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks. He struck out six, improving his record to 4-5. Juan Lagares had three hits, tying his career high. LaTroy Hawkins pitched the ninth for his 12th save. The rain may have helped the Mets out on Saturday, but the sun helped put them behind on Sunday. Andrew Brown lost Jimmy Rollins' fly ball in the sun in the sixth inning and it sailed untouched to the wall. Rollins had turned toward the dugout thinking the ball was caught, but when he saw it skipping on the outfield grass he reversed field and reached second. Chase Utley follo ...
Us too, Cliff. This game marks the 1,000th game that Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins have played together. They both acknowledged that there was a delay in reaching the milestone because of injuries. Cliff Lee pitched an absolutely great game tonight. He went 8 innings, had 8 hits, 1 walk,...
Such an honor and privilege to meet Erik Kratz and see Cliff Lee and Jimmy Rollins up close and playing.
Here's what I think our Opening Day roster will be (barring injuries of course) -chris Starters- Cole Hamels, Doc Halladay, Cliff Lee, Kyle Kendrick and John Lannan Pen- Jonathan Papelbon, Mike Adams, Chad Durbin, Antonio Bastardo, Phillippe Aumont, Jeremy Horst and Michael Stutes Catchers- Erik Kratz and Humberto Quintero Infield- Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, Michael Young, Kevin Frandsen and Yuniesky Betancourt Outfield- Delmon Young, Ben Revere, John Mayberry Jr, Laynce Nix and the last and final spot will go to.
Michael Young- "Cliff Lee was my teammate; I obviously have a relationship with Cliff Lee. I've known Jimmy Rollins for a long time. I've played with Chase Utley in the World Baseball Classic, so I got to know him, and I played with Laynce Nix in Texas. I have spoken with him as well. Other guys I've known, too. Roy Halladay has gotten me out a lot, but I have a relationship with him from our time with the Blue Jays. That will allow me a bit of a comfort level."
Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels are both great starters. Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins are both very good players. Howard can’t be this bad again.
Philadelphia 3, N.Y. Mets 1, final in Major League Baseball at Citi Field. Remember Dickey Doo & The Don'ts? That's what I saw again tonight. There's R.A. Dickey, the knuckleball pitcher who's had a great season. He struck out eight in seven innings tonight. And then there's the Don'ts. The Mets haven't scored more than three runs in any of their last 14 home games. Tonight, Cliff Lee struck out nine in eight innings while scattering seven hits. Dickey gave up an unearned run in the first and then allowed solo homers to Jimmy Rollins and Domonic Brown. Good game, over in 2:38, but just another Mets loss (4 wins in their last 27 home games).
Jimmy Rollins hit a two-run homer and Cliff Lee pitched seven strong innings to lead the streaking Philadelphia Phillies to their seventh straight win, 3-1 over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday.
Cliff Lee, Jimmy Rollins starting to pay dividends for Phillies PPNews
i still say that they should of traded Cliff Lee and Jimmy Rollins and get rid of Vance Worley
well if it isnt the end for the phillies they r looking forward finaaly to next season they need to fire Charlie Manual and their hitting and pitching coach also and get rid of Jimmy Rollins and Cliff Lee
Pretty good game tonight , the guy they bring up hits a 2 run homer to start it off, Cliff Lee pitches great has a RBI and SB, Jimmy Rollins hits a inside the parker and bounces Bryrce Harper off the fence. Who were those guys?
Cliff Lee threw seven innings and scored on Jimmy Rollins' inside-the-park home run to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to an 8-0 victory over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.
In a 30 sec span in DC.. Cliff Lee steals 2nd.. Bryce Harper crashes hard into the wall and Jimmy Rollins registers an inside the park HR..
These Phillies are unbelievable. Can never count them out. Cliff Lee with a hit off Strasburg and a stolen base, then Jimmy Rollins hits an in the park home run. Phaith?
Oh wait he will...when he gets his head outta his rear end.(memo to Reuben, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley & Jimmy Rollins are getting long in the tooth you know) and you should of unloaded Cliff Lee- ya know him...ONE win in 17 starts this year. I guess you cannot fix stupid.
It's a Phillies firesale. Get em while they're hot! Who wants Juan Pierre? Ryan Howard? Cliff Lee? Buy one Jimmy Rollins and you get Placido Polanco free!
Two names that probably won't move today but you should watch for anyway: Cliff Lee and Jimmy Rollins. Phillies have at least "discussed" big deals for both in last couple of days.
Maybe it's because I live in Delaware and it's noticeable, but I think that Phillies fans are the best at going into hiding. I swear I did not know a single Phillies fan from 1994-2006, and now it's the same thing all over again. I haven't seen one of those cute red tee-shirt jerseys since Ryan Howard tore his ACL. They should trade Cliff Lee and possibly Shane Victorino to the O's. It doesn't look like they are using them correctly. Jimmy Rollins should not be batting leadoff. Don't mind me.. just hatin
How about Hanley Ramirez and Dee Gorden for Cliff Lee and Jimmy Rollins solves 3rd Base no need to trade Pence get what you can for Shane V
fall to Rockies, 6-2. Jimmy Rollins, Carlos Ruiz & John Mayberry, Jr. each had 2 hits in losing effort. Cliff Lee is now 1-6.
The second half starts tonight! To my fellow Phils fans don't forget why your a fan just because the season so far has not gone as planned. Remember how you felt when...The Phils swept the Mets in a 4 game series in late August in 2007...when Brett Myers threw the final strike to win the first division title in 13 years...The double play to end the game to clinch the second division title...Matt stairs home run deep"into the night"...Harry's call of the world series title...Jimmy Rollins game winning double in game 4 '09 NLCS...Cliff Lee's catch on the mound in '09 series...Roy Halladay became a Phillie, and wanted to be...the Perfect Game...the playoff no hitter...waking up on that tuesday morning when cliff came back...an ace on the mound every night...These and many more are why we are fans...The second half starts tonight! LETS.GO.PHILS!!!
The last-place Phillies blew a late inning lead again yesterday, largely because of a horrendous throwing error by shortstop Jimmy Rollins. Who would have guessed that Cliff Lee, with 11 starts, would still be without a win, that Roy Halladay and several relievers would be on the disabled list, and the best pitching staff in baseball would be no more. Or that, 67 games into the season, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard would yet to appear in a game and that Laynce Nix and others would be on the disabled list, or that Jim Thome would be shaping up as the team's most reliable hitter?
If I were Cliff Lee, I would light Jimmy Rollins on fire.
Phillies Post Game Notes • Cliff Lee is winless through his first six starts of the season for the first time in his career. Today was the 4th time that the Phillies scored two or fewer runs in one of his starts this season (Phils have scored 14 total runs in his six starts - 2.3 runs/game). Lee allowed a season-high five runs today, his most since July 25, 2011 vs SD (5 runs). • Jimmy Rollins has reached base safely in each of his last 15 games (14 hits, 10 walks). It is the longest on-base streak by a Phillie this season. • Today’s attendance marked the 225th consecutive regular season sellout at Citizens Bank Park. • Josh Beckett has won consecutive starts for the first time this season and has posted a 0.61 ERA (1 ER, 14.2 IP) in that span. His consecutive scoreless innings streak ended at 14.0 today. Prior to the run he allowed to the Phillies in the 8th inning, he was last scored on in the 3rd inning, May 10 vs CLE. • Mike Aviles became the first Red Sox batter to lead off consecuti ...
