I just ran into this guy on the street, and he was one of the most interesting conversations I've ever had. His name is Ricky, he's immortal, he has several children with Janis Joplin (who is still alive btw), has played harmonica with Led Zepplin, The Stones, bad Company and others, the FBI is trying to kill him (that's why he can't go "home"), several of his friends are aliens and he's also commonly knows as Jim Morrison. He performed a "white magic" spell on me and then rode away into the ether on his bicycle. Good Luck Ricky.

Karpet Kickers Soul, Funk, Blues, Rock & Roll chuck it in the musical melting pot, sprinkle some fat bass, stir it up and you get the Karpet Kickers a six piece band from the carpet town of Kidderminster. Fronted by Cookie an enigmatic platinum haired conductor of funk who would'nt look out of place fronting the Rolling Stones, with an on stage presence rarely seen since the days of Jim Morrison and the Doors. The Karpet Kickers played an hour long set of all original songs which felt like a music history tour across five generations of rock & roll and funk combining modern riffs and basslines to take your head off, laced with soulful bluesy vocals. The third song played was a personal favourite of mine and as the audience started to feed off the bands infectous sound, it seemed the band started to feed off the audience with Cookie strutting across the stage like a funk soul father showing the younger one's in the crowd how it's done, building the punters into a frenzy. The Karpet Kickers were then joined ...

"The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can't be any large-scale revolution until there's a personal revolution, on an individual level. It's got to happen inside first."― Jim Morrison

The Secrets of Rock & Rock part 1: If you want to be good LIVE, stay pretty much sober. It's a slippery slope and a very fine line. Remember it's easier to act drunk than it is pretend to be sober. Don't try to be a Jim Morrison, he's dead because he tried to be Jim Morrison. The only guy who could ever really hold it together playing on Acid was Hendrix, and again, he died way to young - ultimately from sleeping pills. If your body isn't naturally flooding with adrenaline and putting you in a near voodoo state when you are playing LIVE, you aren't doing it right. Playing a good show is still better than Ecstasy, and it can get better night after night after night - if you aren't too fup.
there's something odd I notice about some starlets invoking the light of the past ... some fill the world with a light rekindled and others seem to almost be revisiting a starburst - like looking at a display exhibit in a museum I loved 10cc when I was a kid and yet, when I finally caught up with 2 of them in 2007 it was like karaoke Completely different to watching Bowie sing Heroes, or Zeppelin do Ramble On or Magazine punch out Shot by Both Sides ... they seem like something from now ... Bono shouting 'I will follow' or Weller deriding the 'Eton Rifles' resonate with something in the present. Yes, some are muddled, but there's something poignant about Jim and Charlie doing Belfast Child or Smokie crooning My Girl that cuts through boundaries of time trends and fashion and ignites your heart in the moment. I suspect the difference that makes the difference is ones initial relationship to the music or artist and the memories already associated with those tunes ... tonight then, a sentimental mixture .. . ...

you a self-starter who knows the meaning and purpose of "Let's GO for it"? (Or are you someone who says, "If I only had a bit more energy--the things I could accomplish!") Great news! Mars enters Aries on Tuesday, March 12th--and the Moon will be in Aries too! This means "NOW is the time to put the pedal to the metal and ACTIVATE!" With Mars giving that shot of adrenalin to its ruling sign and a fuel source that's incendiary, this is a call for all Heat-Displaying souls (Aries-Leo-Sagittarius) to show the world that you can give the spark of Initiative for those who are asking for the words of Jim Morrison and the Doors, "Come on baby, Light My Fire!" (Or better yet: just ask the Fantastic Four's Human Torch: "Flame On!") If there's a project, plan, endeavor, or concept that you want to see that radiates, illuminates, and vibrates with power, assertion, energy, and vitality, you are unleashed with potential with Mars in Aries until April 20th. And remember: the Sun moves into Aries on March 20th, so the t ...

The Doors Examined is ever closer to publication, hopefully a week or two. I'm proud to announce that Tony Funches was kind enough to write a foreword for the book, and the first blurb is in: "The Doors Examined is an astonishingly insightful page-turner. Jim Cherry deconstructs the story of The Doors, examining all facets from every angle, exploring their history and contextualizing their achievements. He not only takes the reader back to the sixties to understand the world in which they created, but also brings us up to the present day, showing their ongoing reverberations four decades after Jim Morrison checked out. This is a must-read for hardcores and newbies alike; maybe even for the doubters of a band that still compels people to choose sides." Jim Morrison is arguably the 60s Michael Hutchence... in terms of being a nob'ead.
One of the things that made "The Day The Music Died" so important (besides great production and an incredibly catchy melody) was the fact that it commented on the deaths of three great early rock stars - Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper - which all happened at once, but a generation earlier, just after Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin all die in roughly the same period (as did Brian Jones, but he's been made into an unperson.) It was an attempt to set up a deliberate curve through the Baby Boomer generation, through technology and subsequent societal change. The distinction between Elvis fans and Beatles fans wasn't parent vs. child, it was older sibling vs. younger. Both 'generations' (as measured in pop culture terms) would be of a correct age to look back on Buddy Holly and the Bopper’s death and be old enough to understand the loss. [The Bopper is only known for one song at all, but his back catalogue has several great tunes, and he wrote “White Lightning” which is som .. ...

The DOORS, Jim Morrison, SKY ARTS! Memories of the HANGOUT, Manc '89. When the music's over turn out the light!
biography[-]by Richie Unterberger The Doors, one of the most influential and controversial rock bands of the 1960s, were formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by UCLA film students Ray Manzarek, keyboards, and Jim Morrison, vocals; with drummer John Densmore and guitarist Robby Krieger. The group never added a bass player, and their sound was dominated by Manzarek's electric organ work and Morrison's deep, sonorous voice, with which he sang and intoned his highly poetic lyrics. The group signed to Elektra Records in 1966 and released its first album, The Doors, featuring the hit "Light My Fire," in 1967. Like "Light My Fire," the debut album was a massive hit, and endures as one of the most exciting, groundbreaking recordings of the psychedelic era. Blending blues, classical, Eastern music, and pop into sinister but beguiling melodies, the band sounded like no other. With his rich, chilling vocals and somber poetic visions, Morrison explored the depths of the darkest and most thrilling aspects of the psychedelic ...

God bless Alvin Lee as he takes his guitar to the other side to jam with Hendrix, Keith Moon, and Jim Morrison...
Val Kilmer is definatly the best actor to play Jim Morrison. I can't think of anyone else who could get that look or play the part as well.

"Val Kilmer looks more like Jim Morrison than Jim Morrison looks like Jim Morrison."-my stones roommate circa 94'
Luke Pritchard from the kooks and Jim Morrison from the doors look so much alike!
Im walking to class and hear rather loudly, "the end" playing by the Doors coming out of the lecture hall. All of the lights were off, but the door wasopen. So I walked in & sat in the back, watching Jim Morrison be a total babe.-- Screw my science lecture, obviously this was a better way to spend my time.
Watching The Doors movie. Val Kilmer was sex on legs playing Jim Morrison!

Seriously, Freddie Mercury might be the greatest rock star of all time, he'd have to fight Jim Morrison, Pete Townshend and Keith Richards
top 3 favorite vocalists: Robert Plant, Jim Morrison, and Sebastian Bach.
Just watched and listened to an oldtime Doors concert. Reminded me once again how I couldn't stand Jim Morrison. What a pathetic, self-absorbed,self-indulgent little whiner he was. You know; "Mommy didn't love me. She gave me harsh toilet training and a cold milk bottle." "Daddy didn't understand or appreciate me." If you listen and watch with the perspective of age and time his performances were a lot of vocal and visual trickery. The real backbone of that band was Ray Mansarek. His keyboard work and solos were wonderful. Meanwhile during his solos Morrison was posturing around stage as if he were trying out for a Calvin Klein underwear commercial. Loved the music. Couldn't stand Morrison. Still can't.
Tiens je te le mets il faudra le traduire , j'ai l'ordi qui bug à chaque fois que je veux le faire truc de ouf big kissous At the center of The Doors’ mystique is the magnetic presence of singer-poet Jim Morrison, the leather-clad “Lizard King” who brought the riveting power of a shaman to the microphone. Morrison was a film student at UCLA when he met keyboardist Ray Manzarek on Venice Beach in 1965. Upon hearing Morrison’s poetry, Manzarek immediately suggested they form a band; the singer took the group’s name from Aldous Huxley’s infamous psychedelic memoir, “The Doors of Perception.” Constantly challenging censorship and conventional wisdom, Morrison’s lyrics delved into primal issues of sex, violence, freedom and the spirit. He outraged authority figures, braved intimidation and arrest, and followed the road of excess (as one of his muses, the poet William Blake, famously put it) toward the palace of wisdom. Over the course of six extraordinary albums and countless boundary-sm ...

Who is one of your biggest inspirations/ biggest influence? One of mine is Jim Morrison.

When the puking's over When the puking's over Turn out the lights Turn out the lights —Jim Morrison, had he survived to become a parent
Although that might have something to do with the giant Jim Morrison cloth poster hanging in my room. That guy was a legend though.

Kevin Coyne signed to Virgin Records in early 70's with his rough and ready R +R. Could he have replaced Jim Morrison of Doors, check it out
I wish everyone loved classic rock music as much as I do. Even back in the NINETEEN SIXTIES, Jimi Hendrix was bustin out some seriously crazy solos. MACHINE GUN! lighting guitars on fire and sacrificing them on stage John Bonham of led zeppelin with 30 minute drum solos. Black Sabbath inventing metal in the early 70s. Jim Morrison of the Doors pulled off stage for obscene lyrics and indecent exposure in the 60s. Yeah it was wild even back in the 60s and early 70s. Heart and soul was also put in music. Real music. HELTER SKELTER!!
I'm a spy in the house of love I know the dreams that you are dreaming of, I know the words that you love to hear... I know your deepest secret pears (Jim Morrison)

I think I am in love with Jim Morrison.
Taking a Jimmy Paige out the history book of rock and roll you can see why everyone was Eric Clapton and wanting Jim Morrison of the show. They didn't like Lorne Greene that much but they were fond of Ringo. On any Black Sabbath you could Alice in Chains using Nine Inch Nails as the new Holy Grail. It's Megadeath. Tiny Tim fell from a Jefferson Airplane and tip-toed home through the tulip fields of the Talking Heads only to find folks chanting and dancing to a Billy Idol. And whatever happened to guys with two first names like Elton and John and Billy and Joel? A Rolling Stone gathers no moss and can perform from the crypt. Which just goes to show what my momma always said, "Rock and Roll is just like a box of Slim Whitman chocolates."
I am a fan of five Val Kilmer movies and sound funny or crazy but their is a riddle or a enigma (definition Something that baffles understanding and cannot be explained) Five Movie Batman, Jim Morrison,Thunderheart,The Ghost and the darkness,At first sight, and maybe six Saint, If you can give me any feed back about what you think, For the book I am cooking up. Who shall I pick? Eric Burdon, Jim Morrison, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, James Dean, so many good looking men of the past.
TRANSMISSION I like the slow, ascent up flat gradual paths. To get the top of the last telegraph-post before Rontaur, the last one isolated tower of solipsism and 360 vision all at once, standing in the last field before the oldest fell Black Combe, is to marry sentiment and electricity. A fresh bracing walk up the left M, Seer Ness, with a dog and a joint, half an hour there and back. ‘Lough’, says the wind. No *** at the top. Is it a grower? The Quire opens and awakes the names of memory. Learning to play Stairway to Heaven at 14. Up here is the unreal world, Rontaur, rippling with uncoiled bracken. The pole itself is a distant suburb of London. My brothers and friends shot bullets to the top already for my arisal. Did you know i eat with my hands and grease my trousers, and go commando? I’m Down to A Point one underneath the sun. Sign it Tyler at the top instead of the comic Jim Morrison signature forgery you do that thing like a good writer and fine visual artist merged. Want to grow my hair out Joey Ramone/Jim Morrison length but not sure whether it'd be a good look.
Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free. Jim Morrison
