The 2014 Ryder Cup takes place in Scotland beginning on Sept. 26 and concluding on Sept. 28. And now that we know the full, 12-man rosters for each side - Team Europe and Team USA - how do the sides stack up? The teams were completed on Sept. 2 when the captains - Paul McGinley for Europe and Tom Watson for the USA - each added three captain's picks to his squad. McGinley went with Ian Poulter, Stephen Gallacher and Lee Westwood. Watson chose Keegan Bradley, Hunter Mahan and Webb Simpson. Below we list each team in the order of its players' world rankings, and stack the teams up side-by-side. But first, here are a few points about the Ryder Cup teams and the players on them: Europe has four of the five highest-ranked players in the world - Rory McIlroy (1), Henrik Stenson (3), Sergio Garcia (4) and Justin Rose (5) - on its team. The highest-ranked American is Jim Furyk at No. 7. In the side-by-side comparison below, the European golfer is ranked higher than the American in the first first four positions o ...

PGA Championship at a glance: Rory McIlroy leads at 9-under LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A glance at Friday’s second round of the PGA Championship, played at 7,458-yard, par-71 Valhalla Golf Club. Leading: Rory McIlroy, who shot 67, tops the board at 9 under. Pursuing: Jason Day and Jim Furyk were a shot back; followed by Rickie Fowler, Ryan Palmer and Mikko Ilonen at 7 under. Tracking Tiger: Woods missed the cut in a major for only the fourth time in his professional career, after shooting 74 both days. Key stat: McIlroy’s first two rounds — 66-67 — match the start Woods made in 2000 when he won the PGA at Valhalla. Missed cut: Besides Woods, other prominent players who won’t play on the weekend include U.S. Open champion Martin Kaymer and former PGA champ Keegan Bradley. Noteworthy: Three players 50 years and older — Kenny Perry (54 on Sunday), Colin Montgomerie and Vijay Singh (both 51) — made the cut. Quoteworthy: “I felt old a long time ago.” — Woods after missing the cut. Key tee times: 1 ...
After the 2nd round at the PGA Championship quite a few entries for the sweepstake were elimintated. Most notable players to miss the cut were US Open Winner Martin Kaymer, Tiger Woods & Jordan Speith. The low round for the 1st round was Lee Westwood with a 65 & Richard Lee was the only person to pick Westwood. Unfortunately for Richard his other pick Martin Kaymer missed the cut so he is unable to win anymore over the weekend. In round 2 with a bit of rain making Valhalla more susceptible to low numbers the best round was Jason Day with a 67 with only John Lacey picking Jason Day. Both John & Richard pick up $50ea for the low round of each day. Overall after 2 rounds we have Keith McCracken & Julie Hawkes on 5 pts who both picked Rory McIlroy & Rickie Fowler. Just 1 Point back on 6 pts is Peter Jordan who picked Rickie Fowler & Jim Furyk. Going to be a good weekend of Golf hopefully the weather gods play their part with the Forecast of a good chance of Thunderstorms on day 3.

US Open: Marasigan Steals Title! Using the round of the day 353, that included a 67 from Jim Furyk and a 69 from Adam Scott, Brian Marasigan completed a 7 stroke comeback in the Final round to steal the United States Open from Ryan Goco and Michael Gentry, who finished in a tie for second. Marasigan used a consistent team, with scores of 1-over from Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson, 2-over from Scott, 3-over from Furyk, and 5-over from Steve Stricker. Goco and Gentry had a compelling battle that initially figured to be for the victory, with Gentry getting the necessary advantage from Justin Rose (+3) tying Matt Kuchar to draw level with otherwise identical teams of Dustin Johnson, Henrik Stenson, Adam Scott, and Rory McIlroy (+6), but ultimately the barage of 73's in the round cost both competitors. Overall this was one of the most competitive tournaments in recent memory, with 9 competitors surviving the cut, and the top 7 all finishing within 7 strokes of the champion. 1. B. Other Feherty Quotes: "Fortunately, Rory is 22 years old so his right wrist should be the strongest muscle in his body." "That ball is so far left, Lassie couldn't find it if it was wrapped in bacon." "I am sorry Nick Faldo couldn't be here this week. He is attending the birth of his next wife." Eddie Reiter's pick of Jordan Spieth still has him in it only 3 back. Martin Kaymer (Duitsland) wen 2014 se "5de Major" Loop voor van dag 1 tot aan die einde! "Kaymer wins Players Championship" "Martin Kaymer survived a late double-bogey to win the US PGA Tour's prestigious Players Championship on Sunday by one stroke over Jim Furyk. Kaymer notched his first title worldwide since he won the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa on December 2, 2012, coming up with three clutch pars to close out a one-under par 71 for a 13-under total of 275. "It's always difficult to come back after a little break, but obviously you see the leaderboard, you see where you are, but I played really, really well the first 14 holes," Kaymer stated. "I made a couple wrong decisions (after the weather delay). On 16, I should have chipped it. It was not the right decision, but that was a big putt on 17." The victory in the $10 million tournament was just the second of Kaymer's career on the US PGA Tour – to go with his major triumph at the 2010 PGA Championship. The former world No 1 from Germany ...
TPC Martin Kaymer survived a late wobble to claim a dramatic one-shot victory in the Players Championship at Sawgrass. Three in front with five to play, the German looked to be in total control before play was halted for a lightning threat. But when play resumed it appeared the 90-minute break had knocked Kaymer out of his stride and a double bogey at 15 cut his lead to just one from clubhouse leader Jim Furyk. A par at 16 kept Kaymer in front but he looked to have made a complete mess of the par three 17th when his tee-shot just avoided water and he fluffed his chip to leave himself a 29 footer for par. But just when it seemed he would fall back into a tie with Furyk on 12-under, the 2012 Ryder Cup hero drained his par putt to stay in front. There was further drama at 18 when Kaymer finished 20 feet short of the green with his second but he got down in two to secure the $1.8m first prize with a final-round 71 and a winning total of 13-under. Furyk (66) was second, with Sergio Garcia (70) a stroke further ...
Jim Furyk (-12) shares what it was like being in the spotlight as he watched Martin Kaymer win
“This week's sign of the apocalypse: Jim Furyk won a million dollars today. And he didn't win the golf tournament.”
Congrats Martin Kaymer 2014 PGA Players Champion, 2nd place Jim Furyk and 3rd Sergio Garcia. Great golf and better luck next time Jordan Spieth!
Sunday at the PGA Tour's biggest event was a dramatic race in the darkness, as Martin Kaymer narrowly avoided disaster at the island 17th hole and held on to edge Jim Furyk by a shot.
Martin Kaymer wins the Players Championship by one shot from Jim Furyk. Justin Rose finishes tied fourth.
Congratulations to Martin Kaymer on your Players Championship win. At least Jim Furyk got the USA a second place win. Jordan Spieth had it and somehow let it go. I thought he was a for sure win for us.
Martin Kaymer is the 2014 winner by 1 stroke over Jim Furyk. It's Kaymer's 2nd career win.
Final from 1. Martin Kaymer -13 2. Jim Furyk -12 3. Sergio Garcia -11 T4. Justin Rose & Jordan Spieth -10 said that Jordan Spieth can/will undo Tiger's records, the boy is talent but still got to learn to keep calm. Well done former Nedbank Golf Challenge winner Martin Kaymer.
So clutch. How about that 30-foot par putt Martin Kaymer made on No. 17 to stay one ahead of Jim Furyk?
Martin Kaymer wins The Players Championship! 13-under par total and a one-shot victory over Jim Furyk. Kaymer made an unbelievable putt for par on the "island green" 17th to keep the lead, and went on to get the big win. Congratulations to him. That putt on 17... WOW!!!
What a finish to The Players! Martin Kaymer makes a clutch putt at 17 and pars 18 to beat Jim Furyk by 1 at TPC Sawgrass.
Congratulations Martin Kaymer.although I was pulling for Jim Furyk.

Ponte Vedra Beach resident Jim Furyk is the leader in the clubhouse at 12-under at He's one of 5 to shoot 66 today.
What's your sporting passion? This should be a spectacular Sunday final round, The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, holes 16, 17, and 18 will be very exciting to watch! Can't wait for the final outcome and who will walk away as this years champion. I would love to see Jim Furyk and his caddie Mike 'Fluff' Cowan win which would be incredible, my 2nd pick is the comeback kidd with that winning smile and awesome personality Mr. Sergio Garcia. Enjoy the final round as I will and Happy Mother's Day! My 3rd pick is a wild card and it would be really kool to see Lee Westwood take home the championship, anything is possible at the TPC Sawgrass.
Martin Kaymer, Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia, and Jim Furyk are all inside the top-5 at THE Players Championship. 36 holes remain. This is moving day.
Happy Monday! Here's the answer to Friday's Trivia. D. Rory McIlroy! McIlroy won the 2011 U.S. Open by eight strokes over Jason Day. He set several records in his victory, most notably his 72-hole aggregate score of 268 (16-under) was a new U.S. Open record. The 268 aggregate beat the previous record of 272 held by Jack Nicklaus (1980), Lee Janzen (1993), Tiger Woods (2000), and Jim Furyk (2003). He also became the youngest winner since Bobby Jones in 1923.

If I saw Jim Furyk's swing without knowing he was a professional golfer I would think he was an absolute chopper
I've had a lot of discussions with people on players who should be World Golf Hall of Famers. Jim Furyk absolutely belongs in the HOF
I'm a "weekend golfer" (more like a "weekend hack"). If there is ONE golf tournament I thoroughly enjoy watching every year, it is The Masters. The tradition, the beauty of the course, even CBS's manner in which they broadcast it (especially Championship Sunday) is unlike any other golf match of the year (including the three other majors). With that said, it's weird that the PGA's two most notable players (Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson) aren't a part of the weekend competition. Tiger is out because of having recent surgery, which is in a lot of ways fine with me because I really don't care for the guy and I want Jack Niclaus's record of 18 major titles to remain on top (Tiger is second with 14). Largely because I'm a left-handed golfer, Phil has been "my guy" for quite some time. Unfortunately, Phil's first two rounds were horrible and he didn't make the cut. It doesn't seem the same without these two guys (Tiger to boo and Phil to cheer). I guess I'll be rooting for either Matt Kuchar or Jim Furyk (tw . ...
Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson and Jim Furyk and their families walk No. 1 during the 2013 Par 3 Contest.
OMG, look at the names that didn't make the cut at the Masters this week: Phil Mickelson, Dustin & Zach Johnson, Luke Donald, Sang Bae Moon, Jason Day, Sergio Garcia, Webb Simpson, Victor Dubuisson, and many, many more. Its really, really tough competition out there these days! I'm pulling for Fred Couples, but I'd settle for Jordan Speith, Jim Furyk or Bubba Watson.
Not seeing Tiger Woods winning 19 majors. Besides his injuries and age, there are just too many good young players whether they be Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Patrick Read or players/big hitters Dustin Johnson, Adam Scott, Bubba Watson or Brandt Snedeker entering or in their prime or the contingent of veteran European/foreign players like Graeme McDowell, Ian Poulter, Luke Donald, Louis Oosthuizen, Jason Day, or just plain other solid pros like Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk, or Henrik Stenson who are in contention about every tournament they enter, among many other just good solid pros out there, I'm just not seeing it.
I like Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Fred Couples, Rory McIlroy, or Bubba Watson to win The Masters this week.
The golfers I want to see win is Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Rory McIlroy, Fred Couples, or Bubba Watson this week.
My picks for the Master's pool: Rory McIlroy, Matt Kuchar, Henrik Stenson, Luke Donald, Jim Furyk, Tim Clarke, and Stewart Cink. At least 4 have to make the cut.
All bets now on for The Masters..Phil Mickelson...Harris English...Louis Oosthuizen...Martin Kaymer...Dustin Johnson...Jim Furyk...Jordan Speith.. Also had Snedeker 1st round leader..Mickelson hole in one and hole in one on 12..bring on The Masters ⛳️
Bets on for the US Masters golf. The pressure is now on Henrik Stenson, Dustin Johnson and Jim Furyk.

Monday, March 24, 2014 A True Winner Key Bible Verse: For we are taking every precaution to remain aboveboard—not only in the Lord’s eyes, but in the eyes of the people too. (2 Corinthians 8:21, The Voice) Dig Deeper: Philippians 1:9-11 In April 2010, British golfer Brian Davis was on his way to winning his first PGA tour victory at the Verizon Heritage tournament. As regulation play time ended, Davis was tied with American golfer Jim Furyk. On the first playoff hole, Davis’s approach shot landed off the green and nestled into a patch of weeds. While wedging the ball onto the green, Davis thought he heard a faint tick in his backswing, as if the club had grazed a stalk of grass. PGA rules impose a two-stroke penalty if your club moves any impediment (even a blade of grass) during the backswing. Davis asked the PGA officials to check the TV replay and see if any grass was disturbed by his backswing. The officials looked, and they saw a reed of grass move ever so slightly. Brian Davis’s honesty ...

Mental Tip to make this weekends round the best ever. 1. Eat, drink and be well prepared Don’t underestimate the importance of eating and drinking, before and during the round. Not doing this right will affect your mental game and your performance. Before a round, keep it light and eat 1-2 hours before playing (avoid the clubhouse fried breakfast just before heading out). Tiger’s pre-round meal of choice is an egg-white omelet with vegetables. A small sandwich with fruit would be another good option. Don’t have a big meal like a bowl of pasta or a cheeseburger and make sure to drink plenty of water, not coffee. During the round, avoid the half-way hut hot dog and drinks that give you high blood sugar like soda or beer. The surge in insulin will make you sluggish. Go for the healthy option of bananas, mixed nuts and health bars and sip plenty of water. Adam Scott prefers a Clif Bar, Jim Furyk, Larabars. . For a pre-round warm-up, try to spend at least 10 mins on each of driving range, short game and ...
Tiger Woods & Jim Furyk share a laugh while warming up at the 2008 Target World Challenge.
Who Will Win the 2009 Masters Golf Tournament? Who will win this prestigious event? Here in the northeast golf doesn't officially begin until the Masters Golf Tournament. Watching this event brings back that urge and addiction that was packed away in your mind during the winter months. It's time. The feeling to get out on the course is overwhelming. How did I get through those winter months? I'm sure this year's tournament will be just as exciting as in the past. But who will be in contention? And who will win? The obvious choices are Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Retief Goosen and Padraig Harrington. But we can't count out VJ Singh, Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els, and Jose Maria Olazabal. They are great pressure players and always come with their 'A' game. For some reason there are a few golfers that always play well in the Masters Golf Tournament: Mike Weir, Rocco Mediate, Justin Leonard, Stewart Cink, Kenny Perry, and Jim Furyk to name a few. Could one of them be wearing the green jacket on Sunday? For the pas ...

Totally cool day! Got to meet Jack Nicklaus,d Jim Furyk, and David Duval while being a volunteer security guy at the VIP pavilion at the Polo Grounds here in The Villages. These guys went over to people who were outside the ropes an signed autographs, books, etc. I got to sit and talk to Jack for a bit which was a real honor. He got a kick out of my story that I was with IBM and the Marine Corps for all those years and never took up golf. It was a great afternoon and wonderful experience.
Met Jim Furyk this weekend at the game. Nice guy. Member of his entourage made fun of my Chacos, so points deducted for that.

I am sitting under the Guardian Ad Litem program tent at the Leesburg Optimist Club Kidfest. I am wearing my Optimist Shirt so several hats ! Met a gal who can help us find Deaf and Hard of Hearing kids. She is going to join the club too! Guess I am here for a reason! Worked yesterday on Don's tools- neighbor took some and friend David took some. I am not selling them but asking folks to donate to the Don Philbrick Scholarship Fund for our Optimist Club. Don would like that I know. My Aunt who is in Hospice Care is getting dressed, going to the dining room and had her hair and nails done! God is good. I will be here until 2:30 and then need to pick up my shirt for Monday's Lesson with the Legends event. Jack Nicklaus, Jim Furyk, Michelle McCann and one more I can 't remember are donating their time for our Combat Vets to Careers Program and I work w/ them. My pool walking time has been seriously impacted lately! Our crowd here is growing so I had best pat attention! Have a great day.
