Have you ever went through life being angry at someone to the point of still holding grudges against them? You know that old saying:" Forgive and forget." I was once a great historian, I remembered everything, nothing went passed me, I'd forgive but I wouldn't let go, and I'd build a wall of defence and that wall followed me through life. Living in the past, nothing good comes out of it. How discontented I was never at peace with anything or anyone. I lived that way for years, happy one monent and miserable the next, my life was very inconsistent. It took years of pain and tears and many broken relationships before I realized the only person I was hurting was me. On my own strength I failed, I failed over and over again. The only way I was able to let go and go on was when I turned that spirit of unforgiveness over to Jesus. The chains were broken the walls went down and I was able not only to forgive but finally move forward in my life. Matthew 18:21-22 Peter asked Jesus how many times do you forgiv ...

What are you leaning on today? If it's not God you're leaning on, then you're in trouble (Jim Cymbala)
"If the times are indeed as bad as we say they are... if the darkness in our world is growing heavier by the moment... if we are facing spiritual battles right in our own homes & churches... then we are foolish not to turn to the One who supplies unlimited grace & power. He is our only source." Jim Cymbala
Good morning all!.,from my devotion,...Who’s Observing You? June 17, 2014 “… and the other prisoners were listening to them.” (Acts 16:25) Paul and Silas were in prison, yet they were singing praises to God. Unbeknownst to them, the other prisoners were listening, no doubt amazed at what they were hearing in view of what the apostles were facing. God eventually brought about a mighty deliverance, but Paul and Silas did not know that when they were lifting their voices in song to the Lord at that midnight hour. We never know who is quietly observing our walk with the Lord and taking note of our reaction to the trials in our lives. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can be a vessel of honor in the Master’s hand, used by the Lord as a trophy of his grace to lead others to Christ. Read Acts 16:25-34. – Pastor Jim Cymbala

Why is it if you mention the name "Jim Cymbala" hardly anybody would know who you were talking about? However if you mentioned the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir almost everyone would know them for their wonderful inspiring music. Well Jim Cymbala is the Pastor of the Church where the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir made its name. Why isn't then Jim Cymbala as popular. He would have it no other way for his sermons leaves you saying what a Great Lord we serve and not what a great Preacher Jim Cymbala is. When one leaves the Church Service talking about a mere man. The Holy Spirit wasn't there. It was just the charisma spirits that thrilled you. So next time you defend man over Jesus, maybe you are not going to the right Church!

Slander - false testimony...has the opposite effect of the prophetic gift of encouragement. In Revelation 12 we read - "Then the dragon tried to drown the woman with a flood of water that flowed from his mouth." The flood of lies and false accusations. Destructive words. Jim Cymbala, pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle charges all the new members of the church to deal with the sin of slander. It doesn't matter if they hear slander or are involved with it themselves. They are to put a stop to it. Why? Because slander can render a church ineffective. He says this of slander in the church: “I know what most easily destroys churches. It is not crack cocaine, government oppression, or even lack of funds. Rather it is gossip and slander that grieves the Holy Spirit.” Ephesians 4.29 commands us: Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. When slander is on its way out of the church a .. ...

" The Christian religion is hopeless without the Holy Ghost." Samuel Chadwick We know that Jesus the Son is seated at the right hand of the Father ( Luke 22:69; Eph. 1:20; Col. 3:1 ). So that means the Holy Spirit is God's only agent on earth. He is the only experience we can have of God Almighty, the only way we can have the work of Jesus Christ applied to our lives, and the only way we can understand God's Word. Without the Holy Spirit, we are like the disciples before Pentecost - sincere but struggling with confusion and defeat." Jim Cymbala

"In the New Testament we don’t see Peter or John wringing their hands and saying, “Oh, what are we going to do? Caligula is bisexual . . . he wants to appoint his horse to the Roman Senate . . . what a terrible model of leadership! How are we going to respond to this outrage?” Let’s not play games or divert attention away from the weak prayer life of our own churches. In Acts 4, when the apostles were unjustly arrested, imprisoned, and threatened, they didn’t call for a protest; they didn’t reach for some political leverage. Instead, they headed to a prayer meeting. Soon the place was vibrating with the power of the Holy Spirit". ~Jim Cymbala
“Our forebears back in the camp meeting days used to say that if people left a meeting talking about what a wonderful sermon the preacher gave or how beautifully the singers sang, the meeting had failed. But if people went home saying things like “Isn’t God good? He met me tonight in such a wonderful way,” it was a good meeting. There was to be no sharing the stage with the Lord.” ― Jim Cymbala, Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire
Does anyone really think that America today is lacking preachers, books, Bible translations, and neat doctrinal statements? What we really lack is the passion to call upon the Lord until he opens the heavens and shows himself powerful.” ― Jim Cymbala, Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire

"... isn't it tragic that many pastors often spend hours polishing every nuance of their sermons while hardly investing much time at all in prayer and waiting upon God to be freshly filled with the One who can supernaturally assist them? What we need today is not cleverness or oratory - we need messages from God's Word set on fire by the Holy Spirit!" (FRESH POWER, Jim Cymbala, p. 46)“
I have a special prayer request tonight, for me,personally. I have a phone interview tomorrow at One o'clock with a significant editor/author who is interested in working with me on a book(s). Writing has become such a passion and desire to me.I have prayed for The Lord to guide me in this process. Pastor Jim Cymbala asked if he could help me and referred this editor to me. We have talked several times and she has decided to help me. Tomorrow will be my first "interview" with her. I am extremely excited and doubly nervous. Please remember me in prayer tonight, and then specifically at 1 o'clock tomorrow. Thanks.

When we 'taste and see that the Lord is good' (Psalms 34:8), we will wholeheartedly join with the praiseful, 'singing lips' of the psalmist no matter our personality type or denominational background. WHEN IN TROUBLE, PRAY! by Jim Cymbala: Have you ever noticed that Jesus launched the Christian church, ...
A church I attended for a little while began the Sunday "Worship" with a bunch of notices about this and that, and then they all gathered around and hugged each other. I longed to see them begin by going to the LORD in prayer, and seeking the presence of the Holy Spirit to fall on that time spent together, supposedly worshiping God. It was all about the people, and not about Him. The Holy Spirit never turned up because their hearts were far from Him. I left. But sadly I have sought for a church where GOD is the very reason for the gathering.where HIS will and HIS presence are sought.so few "upper rooms" today. But SO precious are those that DO seek Him, for they truly have the essence of the early church, and the faith to continue it as Jesus would have us to do. Prayer, the one-on-One intimate communication between us and Him who is calling and drawing us.herein lies the power of God, not in our own agenda - but His Presence, one with Him. Without the sap from the vine, the branches produce no fruit, an ...
FORGIVENESS AND THE GOLDEN RULE "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12 How should we treat other people? God's Word is clear: we should treat others in the same way we wish to be treated. This Golden Rule is easy to understand, but it can be difficult to live by. Because we're imperfect human beings, we are, on occasion, selfish, thoughtless, unforgiving, or even cruel. But Jesus taught us to behave otherwise. He showed us how to treat others with mercy and compassion. When we follow in His footsteps, rising above our selfish concerns to put others first, we help to build His kingdom. Matthew 7:12 tells us to do for others what we'd want them to do for us, and that includes forgiving them as we would want to be forgiven...indeed, as we have been forgiven. When we weave the thread of forgiveness into the fabric of our lives, we give glory to the One who forgave us. Looking back over my life, all I can s ...

DAILY DEVOTION Hear Ye The Word of The Lord By Martha Noebel On September 25, 1976, Pat Robertson shared a prophecy the Lord gave him for CBN. Many times I have read portions of this prophecy and felt it speak to my heart. I would like to share parts of this prophecy with you. "Do not be afraid of the places that I will take you, for I AM a mighty God. My ways are not your ways, and MY thoughts are not your thoughts. But My people, I have called you for this moment. Walk boldly into the future, for I hold the future, and I AM the future. Fear not what will happen, for I will provide, and I will provide beyond your wildest dreams. I have called you to a ministry beyond anything that you can conceive, and even as you begin to conceive, your thoughts cannot comprehend what I have called you to do, so do not try to think ahead of Me, but only walk with My plans and My purposes, and I will reveal My plans step by step. But you need not be afraid. You can walk confidently, for I the Lord your God have enfolded ...
Reflections: A homeless man approached the pastor after the last service on Easter Sunday. The pastor was exhausted after multiple services. Rev. Jim Cymbala (Brooklyn Tabernacle) said he could smell the man before he reached him. Pastor Jim reached in his pocket, pulled out some money and started to give it to him when the man spoke. "I don't even know if I'll survive another night on the streets, so I don't want your money. But I do want to know more about the man you talked about this morning. I think he's the only one who can really help me". Pastor Jim was stunned by how callous his own heart had been when he made assumptions about what the man wanted and needed. Giving money, food and shelter may be one of the most appropriate things we could do for someone, but ultimately without Jesus, any help we give them will be temporary. Lord, help me discern the real needs of the people whose paths I cross. BTW, David eventually gave his life to Christ, dedicated himself to being discipled, and is ...

1 John 4:7-11 My dear friends, we must love each other. Love comes from God, and when we love each other, it shows we have been given new life. We are now God's children, and we know him. God is love, and anyone who doesn't love others has never known him. God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. Real love isn't our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven. Dear friends, since God loved us this much, we must love each other. Here we have a defining of someone that has truly been Born Again. I had experienced in recent time past, if you do not only talk about our particular doctrine or "message" you are considered an outcast or falling away to the point it is HATRED in their speech and also their actions. I know because I use to have that hatred. But thank God after I stepped outside their "box" and started listening to Pastors preaching other than Romans 6-8 and Galatians, in other Words the Whol ...

“Prayer is the most essential thing found in the bible along with faith in God”. But it’s true without faith it is impossible to please God. But the only way to know whether there is faith is to see whether there is prayer. Because if someone believe in God, they instinctively begun to call on the name of the Lord’. Snap Out Of It! Day 11: I love the story of Jim Cymbala's daughter Chrissy. She was deep in a pit of sin and God intervened by giving her a dream which showed her the cliff she was standing that lead straight to *** It scared her straight! "I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him." Psalm 40:1-3 NIV) Again our attention is drawn to the fact that the beautiful work He is doing in us is not just about us! He is giving us powerful testimonies to increase His kingdom! Our job is to depopulate *** and populate Heaven! Go shine for Him friends! Get that negative attitude as far away from you as possible so you can be used to your full potential! You are blessed! OSCAR TRIAL: The Key Questions He Will Have To Answer Sitting day after day in the dock, close to the bullet-pierced wooden door that haunts his murder trial, Oscar Pistorius has been reading a book entitled Breakthrough Prayer by the US Pastor Jim Cymbala. One of the sentences underlined by the accused, the first double amputee to compete in the Olympics, reads: "He was blessed by God in all he did." The fallen hero's faith will be crucial to his mental and emotional state when he is asked to explain to a packed courtroom in Pretoria and TV viewers round the world, why 13 months ago he fired repeatedly into a locked toilet cubicle knowing that there was a human being inside. Pistorius will be put on the spot, possibly as early as Friday, to be cross-examined on the account he gave when applying for bail last year, that he acted in self-defence after hearing what he thought was an intruder, only to discover with horror that he had killed his 29-year-old girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. "With his emotional sta ...

Many Pastors, concerned with Church Growth only, will give people what they want to hear. That is not God's Way. From the Book -Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire- by Pastor Jim Cymbala. "Instead of trying to bring men and women to Christ in the biblical way, we are consumed with the unbiblical concept of “church growth.” The Bible does not say we should aim at numbers but rather urges us faithfully to proclaim God’s message in the boldness of the Holy Spirit. This will build God’s church God’s way."-Jim Cymbala
Day 6 Daniel Fast Lorraine Bernal It was World Conference 2007, where God gave me a promise that would be life-changing. Jim Cymbala spoke a message and his text was Psalm 119:49, “Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope.” This scripture has stuck with me ever since. I pray this often, I’ve memorized it, and it’s hidden within my heart. It’s a promise from The Lord. This year marks ten years that I have lived with Rheumatoid Arthritis. At 15 years old my whole world changed and it was quite frightening. I had no idea what the future held or how this disease would affect my life. Early on, The Lord gave me a promise that one day I would be healed. It was in a season of prayer and fasting when I intended to commit to memory Psalm 119:49. As I read further verse 50 also jumped out at me! “My comfort in my suffering is this, your promise preserves my life,” Psalm 119:50. My prayer today, especially during this corporate time of prayer and fasting, is that even in our pain ...
LORD, HELP! by Jim Cymbala David Jeremiah, my longtime friend from Shadow Mountain Community Church near San Diego, has preached several times at the Brooklyn Tabernacle. Immediately after being diagnosed with cancer, he called to ask us to pray. Several months later he returned to visit us during an outreach meeting we held at Madison Square Garden arena. Later he preached at one of our Sunday services. The whole congregation was delighted to see this wonderful Christian brother for whom we had all interceded. Moved by the love and thanksgiving his appearance produced, David later remarked about it from our pulpit: “I called here as soon as I learned of my sickness because I knew of your emphasis on prayer. In fact, someone just greeted me in the lobby and remarked, ‘Pastor Jeremiah, we really cried out to God on your behalf.’ That is why I called you. I knew your praying wouldn’t be just some mechanical exercise but a real calling out to God with passion for my need. And God brought me through t ...

...The most mature believer is the one who is bent over, leaning most heavily on the Lord, and admitting his total inability to do anything without Christ. The greatest Christian is not the one who has achieved the most but rather the one who has received the most. God's grace, love, and mercy flow through him abundantly because he walks in total dependence. ~ Jim Cymbala

What *** a soul in the end and sends you off into a terrible eternity is rejecting the love of God. He chases you, tries to hem you in, tries to get your attention. This love, this passion for you, is so real. He desires the death of no one. He wants everyone to come to a knowledge of the truth. Don't reject God's love! Don't go there! That's what will seal your doom. -Jim Cymbala , Fresh Wind Fresh Fire

AFTER READING::Jim Cymbala's highlights of his message to the Alabama Baptist State Evangelism Conference in Huntsville Feb. 24-25, I had to agree with him. I know of more churches that are like the ones he said we DON'T need to be than those we DO need to be. After reading this article, I wondered, "How many of those pastors hurried back to their church and checked to see what the total offering for last Sunday was, called their buddies to set up a golf outing or fishing trip, checked their mail to see what the latest "preacher gossip" was, etc, and haven't yet hit their knees praying for guidance as they coveted with God to make their church a TRUE, PURE GOSPEL church as outlined in the Book of Acts". We've let our churches become so shallow, out of touch with the gospel, that many can't tell whether they are in a church or a Broadway production! Many churches are more concerned about offending the lost than by offering the Found. Jim Cymbala got it right. With a leader like him, it's no wonder that the ...

We’re not supposed to be fighting culture wars. We’re to preach the gospel. --Jim Cymbala
The first century money changers were in the temple, but they didn't have the spirit of the temple... They were out of sync with the whole purpose of the Lord's house. "The atmosphere of my Father's house," Jesus seemed to say, "is to be prayer. The aroma around my Father must be that of people opening their hearts in worship and supplication. This is not a place to make a buck. This is a house for calling on the Lord." ~Jim Cymbala
"Our sense of inadequacy is no excuse, given that He has promised to work with us as we set our hearts on kingdom expansion." -Jim Cymbala
Trust your Monday is off and running well! Here's a thought for you to ponder throughout the day. It comes from our study that we've been going through on Wednesday nights. We need to learn to follow God's leading day by day." -Jim Cymbala, Breakthrough Prayer Thankful today for the help, assistance & annointing that He gave yesterday as I shared from the Word in both services! Also thankful for being with me today! God is Good! Have a good and safe day today! -Pastor Del

"We have the privilege of prayer, not the duty of prayer." - Jim Cymbala
I love my Pastor,(Jim Cymbala) at The Brooklyn Tabernacle. He hit it on the head yesterday with a profound quote (one of many); don't be so quick to engage a person in a ministry, (project, venture, business,_etc.). Just because YOU called and asked them doesn't mean it's THEIR calling! All of us don't have the same gifts/talents. Do what YOU do best and let God do the rest.
Don't permit the size of any problem to prevent you from approaching the throne of grace. Instead, may God's promises propel your prayer so that you are no longer afraid to ask and receive great things from Him. "Breakthrough Prayer", Jim Cymbala
We need to realise that the promises that overflow our Bibles will overflow into our own lives as we appropriate them through prayer. "Breakthrough Prayer", Jim Cymbala

Excerpts from a wonderful book by Jim Cymbala (Brooklyn Tabernacle) "BREAKTHROUGH PRAYER" "The blessing of God is very real and tangible. It can change a man's life, transform a neighborhood, invigorate a church, and even alter the course of history." "We bless others when God's favor overflows in our lives so much that it effects the world around us." "God's blessing is invincible against all the powers of earth and *** " "The Lord cherishes his people, and out of that love flows his desire to bless them." "Think of all the blessings we squander by allowing ourselves to become too busy to spend time with God's Word." HOPE TO SEE YOU TUES NIGHT FOR PRAYER GROUP!!!

Persistent calling upon the name of the Lord breaks thru every stronghold of the devil, 4 nothing is impossible with God. Jim Cymbala
Jim Cymbala of Brooklyn Tabernacle, years ago. Do you need a fresh wind or fresh fire?
Mary and Martha taught us all one very important Biblical principal. Choose Jesus! When Martha was frustrated with so many things to do and she saw Mary at Jesus feet, her reaction was to tell Jesus to get Mary to help her. Instead Jesus told Martha that Mary knew what the priorities were...and that was to sit and Jesus feet and be a learner. D. L. Moody, Jim Cymbala, Billy Graham, Greg Laurie and Charles Spurgeon all have one ting in common. They never went to seminary. And yet some might say they are the most influential Christian pastors in the last 150 years. They practiced one simple principle. Sit at the feet of Jesus and be a learner and a listener. Of course this does not tell us to go to a mountain and pray all day. In fact, our lives are filled with distractions and always will be. We have to choose Jesus amongst those distractions so that all things can fall into place!
