Jim Croce - Greatest Hits - I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song . . I love listening to this tune (enjoy )
Get back to where you once belonged?   Who says you can't go back?   Personally I've done both and it's just not that satisfying.   Going back to old places or meeting old friends rarely recaptures old magic.   That's why we tell stories ... to honor what was ...but then the story comes to an end and we're left with ... NOW.   "Tomorrow's going to be a brighter day," Jim Croce sings from nowhere as I write this.   "Well where did that come from?" I say out loud, sitting on the Beloved Back Deck with Winston, The Little *** Dog, while the house is full of girls sleeping.   Let's see ... as I'm sitting here today ... asking myself questions about then ... when Jim Croce, whose been dead forever, decides to participate in the conversation.   This is why I believe in God.   These things don't just randomly happen.   Sure ... other things randomly happen ... the American political system ... Church ... most relationships ... sex ... Miley Cyrus!   But how else do you explain Jim Croce rising from ...

After the break up of the Beatles, several bands took a break. Jim Croce, Harry Chapin died at the height of the status. Robert Stigwood transformed the BEE GEES, and American Graffiti started the compilation phase of recordings and our love affair with pop music superstars. Nixon was featured several times on Laugh In, and Hollywood American Icon JOHN WAYNE, passed from Cancer.

Who remembers the great concerts we had at the Texarkana College auditorium? Shreveport had the big ones, but we had the Classics IV, Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, Eric Burdon and the Animals, the Grassroots, Loretta Lynn, Air Supply, Ricky Nelson, Jim Croce, Lobo, Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose, B.W. Stevenson, Rare Earth. I miss anyone? Any memories?

I was watching HBO's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony the other night, so I started counting all of the Hall of Fame performers I have seen. In all, I have seen 27 HOF acts, including The Who, Police, the Rolling Stones, Simon and Garfunkel, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, Ricky Nelson, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, the Four Seasons, The Everly Brothers, The Jackson 5, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Blondie, Heart and Smokey Robinson. I can't believe though that legendary singers like Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, the Three Dog Night, Gloria Estefan, Peter, Paul & Mary, John Denver, Johnny Rivers, Johnny Mathis, Connie Francis, Chicago, Dionne Warwick, Lionel Richie, The Carpenters, Jim Croce, Helen Reddy, Kenny Rogers and Olivia Newton-John are not in the Rock Hall of Fame. There is a heavy bias against women in the HOF.
Mom fussed and fought all day with us. Finally got her to come out and sit on the back deck. We had iced tea, chicken wings from the grill, and listened to Cat Stevens and Paul Simon, and Jim Croce on the Interweb radio. She just told me it's peaceful here. Mission accomplished.
I'm somewhat concerned about something. We are at the midpoint of a quickly passing year and as yet I have not written anything even remotely resembling the first draft of a Christmas poem. In years past, I've had my annual Christmas poem written, edited, and re-written by June. I seem to be experiencing a "Christmas poem block," if you will. However, I've recently purchased a Classic Soft Rock Christmas CD (half price - five dollars at the grocery store) which contains two of my favorite Christmas songs that I did not have on any other CD or tape: Jim Croce's "It Doesn't Have To Be That Way" and Greg Lake's (of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer) "I Believe In Father Christmas." As I play Christmas music all year long, I am hoping to soon resolve my current dilemma. Two short poems to share this week. The first describes what most people consider a problem attacking their lawns. I, however, enjoy seeing dandelions as they add a touch of color to the sea of green. I was reminded of the second poem after the ...
Five Random thoughts after 24 minutes of A$$ kicking by Miami: 1) Lance needs to listen to that Jim Croce don't tug on Superman's cape 2) Paul George has no heart 3) George Hill is a mediocre back-up point guard.not an NBA starter 4) Roy Hibbert has the mobility of Frankenstein 5) Frank Vogel is like the captain of the Titanic.he refuses to change course
Of all the great personalities in music who are no longer with us , who do you wish you had known personally ? I have so many ! Here's a few : Buddy Holly , Elvis , Jim Morrison , Rory Gallagher , John Lennon , Waylon Jennings , Frank Sinatra , Dean Martin , Sammy Davis Jr. , Tim Buckley , Bob Marley , Sam Cooke , Eddie Cochran ,John Denver , Harry Chapin and many many more ! But if I had to pick just one , it would have to be Jim Croce ! Jim was just a great guy . He had a wonderful sense of humor . He was a great songwriter and a real character . He would be my first choice hands down ! Who would you pick ? Are there any of you out there that knew someone famous in the music business ?
Jim Croce and James Taylor are two of my favorites..
When Jim Croce and I fell madly in love, I was a 16 year old artist, a gymnast, a folk singer, a high school sophomore and thought business was a “four letter word”. It was the early Sixties and Jim was a college Sophomore at Villanova University. We met at a contest, and he asked me if I would sing with him. We wrote songs, got an album deal with Capitol Records, and travelled a hundred thousand miles a year throughout the United States, in our beat-up VW, singing our songs. Jim was determined to be independent and make music his profession. When we discovered we were going to have a child, he wrote “Time in a Bottle”, “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim”, “Operator” and “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown”. After 300 days a year, for two years on the road, Jim’s songs finally hit the top of the charts. We moved to San Diego so Jim could host the Johnny Carson Show and do a movie with Cheech and Chong, but at the peak of his career while on tour, Jim Croce died in a plane crash in Natchitoches, Lou ...
