P V Narasimha Rao's article praising Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and his foreign policy :
In the past two years since the Gandhi-family-led private company called Young Indian took over Associated Journals, four floors of the five-storey building have been let out at market rates. New Delhi: At the heart of the tax case that Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi face in a Delhi court, lies the historic Herald House which was once the office of the National Herald, a newspaper founded and edited by Jawaharlal Nehru, Mr Gandhi's great grandfather. The Gandhis have been summoned by the court next month to respond to the allegation of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy that the Congress used political funds to enable a company in which they own majority stake to acquire Associated Journals, which ran the National Herald. Mr Swamy has alleged in court that the Gandhis aimed to grab property worth thousands of crores that belonged to the publishing company. (Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi Summoned to Delhi Court Next Month) The Congress denies that allegation and says it gave Associated Journals a Rs. 90 c ...

"If etymologically 'India' belonged anywhere, it was not to the Republic proclaimed in Delhi by Jawaharlal Nehru but to its rival headed by Mohammed Ali Jinnah in Pakistan.Pakistan inherited the majority of the main Harappan sites, so depriving India of the most tangible proof of its vaunted antiquity. conversely, India inherited most of the subcontinent's finest Islamic architecture, so depriving Muslim pakistanis of what they regard as their own glorious heritage.it (the naming of india as 'india' post- independence) also flew in the face of history, since 'India' originally referred to territory in the vicinity of the Indus River. Hence it was largely outside the Republic of India but largely within Pakistan." - India, A History by John Keay

God decided to encourage people to have fewer children👫 and introduced an award🏆 scheme. During the procedure at one point, he concentrated on learning about the situation in India. 🇮🇳 He first met Jawaharlal Nehru in heaven😃, and asked him how many children he had during his time on earth. Nehru replied… only one👧! Happy with the good family planning adopted, God awarded Nehru with a Celestial Rolls Royce! 🚘 Indira Gandhi was next, and God asked the same question. She replied she had two children.👬 God thought, not too bad, so he gave her a BMW. 🚕 Dr. Radhakrishnan was next in line. God was not pleased to hear that he had six children,👬👭👫 and gave him a Maruti-800 as a kind of punishment. 🚗 Sometime later, the three (Nehru, Indira and Radhakrishnan) going around in their new cars, saw Mahatma Gandhi on foot!!! 🚶 Wondering what went wrong; they asked why God hadn't been merciful with him. The Mahatma replied in disgust... 😳 "God did not even ask me!!! Some id ...

10 Indian varsities in Times Asia rankings Dramatic improvement compared to three last year Ten Indian institutions have made it to this year’s Asia University Rankings by Times Higher Education, while Japan topped the list with 20 institutes on the top-100 list. Last year only three institutions from India had figured on the list. IIT-Bombay is not on this year’s list (see chart). Last year it was ranked 33. Panjab University, 32nd on list this year, was the topmost from India. This institution was also the topmost institution of higher education in the country, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings released in October 2013. Although the latter retained its premier position, with the University of Tokyo scoring the No. 1 position and other 19 of its universities in the top 100, it lost two candidates from the list. SUCCESS SANS ETHICS The New Indian Express : 14.June.2012 The flight from Delhi to Chennai was about to take off. After a central minister, on the other side of the aisle, and I had just wished each other, he suddenly pointed to the passenger in the window seat next to mine and asked whether I knew him. He introduced him to me, went into reading his book. The gentleman was a Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer, known for high integrity. As we began discussing, we could recollect having met long back. Our talk inevitably ended on how the main state actors — politicians and civil servants — had steeply declined in morals. Finally, I asked him a straight question: “Can you point at when exactly did the decline start?” He was equally straight. Political morality, he said, crashed with the “advent” of Indira Gandhi, and business, he added, became buccaneering with the “rise” of Dhirubhai Ambani. That was exactly my view too. A simple comparison of the standards of political morality before and after I ...
The Independence of India came with the pain of partition and the 1947-48 Indo-Pak war. Soon after independence, Pakistan attacked Kashmir with tribals from the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) backed by the regular Pakistan Army. They were few kilometers away from Srinagar airport when Indian soldiers fought gallantly to drive them back. The Government wanted to honour these brave men, but there were no gallantry awards available. During the Dominion period (1947-50), the British King remained, theoretically, the head of state. Pre-1947 awards could have been awarded, but awarding personnel of opposing forces with the same medals against each other seemed ridiculous to both New Delhi and London. Finally, based on specific proposals, new awards known as the Param Vir Chakra (PVC), Mahavir Chakra (MVC) and Veer Chakra (VrC) were finalised in June, 1948. But the Governor General of India could not institute the awards, as India was still a dominion. So a draft of the Royal warrant was sent to London for ...

Formation of Telangana State was an imminent historical necessity. It was setting right the blunder committed by late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and unnecessarily delayed by his daughter. Now that the State has materialized, it is the responsibility of real Leaders, if there are any, to build strong relations between the two neighbouring States, to protect, nurture and if possible take to greater heights the Glory and unity among the Telugu speaking people. It requires a mutual give and take attitude to achieve this. It will be only self defeating and does not serve any purpose to indulge in spitting venom against each other. People can easily see through the dramatized political games. No amount of prosperity can really compensate the lasting rift created between brothers. People cannot be taken for a ride all the time. They will teach a befitting lesson to the vested interests.

Govt may drop Attestation of documents by gazetted officers ( Stamsp Walo Aapke Din Gaye) You may no longer need a Gazetted officer or a magistrate to attest documents sought by Govt. Departments. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked his bureaucrats to repeal all laws and rules which come in the way of effective Governance. In a meeting with secretaries on Wednesday, the PM suggested government departments should adopt the system of self-attestation of certificates, photographs and marksheets, instead of asking for Attested Documents or filing of affidavits. He also told officials all Government application forms should be made short and simple by doing away with unnecessary fields. “The Prime Minister said self attestation should be enough because it is a hassle for the common man to get it attested from Gazetted officers. Anyway, the original documents are required to be produced at the final selection... (Courtesy BS).. Please Share this ...

Bluff master:Dec 24, 2008 Pune Mirror When this award was declared, PCMC officials praised themselves for completing various projects. But the ground reality is totally different. — Jugal Rathi, civic activist The bubble just burst for the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Even as the civic body was going ga-ga over its Best Financial Management Award from the Urban Development Ministry of the central government for its ‘works’ executed under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), an alert citizen has pointed out that all of this is hogwash. When PCMC got the award, one would have expected that all the works undertaken by it should have been up to the mark. That includes providing immaculate roads, footpaths and cycle tracks. BELIEVE ME, DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR! Written by Edo Ukpong A few years ago, I was driving along the busy Gbagada express way in Lagos, and at some point there was a serious hold-up occasioned by a massive crowd. Naturally my curiosity was aroused and I inquired as to what was happening. I was told - ‘eiye di eniyan!’ This, in Yoruba which I don’t speak, means ‘a bird turned to human being!’ I never saw the human being or the bird but the story was all over town that a bird had been knocked down and it somehow magically transformed into a human being in female form, of course dead! I laughed it off but did not forget to mention it to one of my sisters in a later telephone conversation. To my astonishment, she believed the possibility of that occurrence and even regaled me with a similar fabulous magical occurrence in Port Harcourt where a cat turned into a woman! I chastised her that a lady with post graduate education should not be so silly. Although she admitted to not personally se ...

On 18th August a plane crash in Taipei airport which had never happened has changed the history of India as well created a mystery which has not been  solved yet. The plane was carrying Subhash Bose, India’s one of the greatest freedom fighter. For last 67 years many theories came up regarding the fate of Subhash Bose after this deadly air crash. Generally three theories are there which has been researched and believed by people of India. The theory of plane crash has been rejected by most of the people of India as well as by the researchers. Why this theory cannot be believed that I have discussed earlier in a different post, so I am not going into the details of the theory. According to popular believe and work done by many researchers it has been claimed that Subhash Bose was killed in USSR presently known as Russia where Neheru and other allied forces like Britain and USA was a party in the conspiracy. Now when we claim that Subhash Bose has been killed in USSR, before that we need to answer some q ...
A year after Uttarakhand floods, disregard for ecology continues Chetan Chauhan, Hindustan Times New Delhi, June 16, 2014 In the din of elections and euphoria over new Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the loss of hundreds of lives in one of the worst Himalayan tragedies in Uttarakhand has been forgotten. The policy correction promised after the tragedy remained mostly on paper and Uttarakhand is back to business as usual — developing but doing little to save the fragile local ecology. The core of the promises made was to check such man-made disasters not just in Uttarakhand but across Himalayan states vulnerable to flash floods caused by heavy rains. That was to be done by infusing science into the developmental process — from building roads to new hydel projects. Another major component of the plan was that geologists would no more be mere rubber stamps on engineering projects, but key players in deciding topography of roads so that these are not built on highly active tectonic fault lines in Uttarakha ...

Five myths about Nehru By RAMACHANDRA GUHA IN this, the week of the 40th Death Anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, let us consider some of the myths that have gathered around his name and his legacy: Myth 1: Nehru promoted a `dynasty' This myth draws support from the fact that Nehru's daughter and grandson also served as Prime Minister, that his grand daughter-in-law has sought that post too, and, most recently, that her son, Nehru's great-grandson, has joined politics as the heir-apparent of the Congress party. In truth, Nehru had nothing to do with the "dynasty". He had no idea, nor desire, that his daughter would become Prime Minister of India. It was Mrs. Indira Gandhi who converted the Indian National Congress into a family business. She first brought in her son Sanjay and, after his death, his brother Rajiv. In each case, it was made clear that the son would succeed Mrs. Gandhi as head of Congress and head of Government. Thus, the "Nehru-Gandhi dynasty" should properly be known as the "(Indira) Gandhi' ...

ALL IN THE NAME OF THE NEHRU–GANDHIS Building Brand Nehru-Gandhi at the Cost of the Taxpayer In a planned and systematic effort to gain unfair advantage over other political parties, the Congress Party has named all major government programmes, projects and institutions in the country after three members of the Nehru-Gandhi family – Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru – who are its icons, and disturbed the level playing field in the electoral arena. Over the last 23 years, on a rough estimate 450 central and state government programmes, projects and national and state level institutions involving public expenditure of lakhs of crores of rupees have been named after these three icons of the Congress Party. Among them are: The Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (rural electrification programme), which involves an outgo of Rs 28,000 crore during the Eleventh Plan period, the Rajiv Gandhi Drinking Water Mission with even higher allocations per annum, the Indira Awas Yojana to house th ...
We're thinking about dinner already, and our taste buds are craving tandoori chicken. But where did tandoori come from? According to Wikipedia: "Tandoori chicken originated in the restaurant Moti Mahal Delux of Kundan Lal Gujaral, in Delhi, India. The tandoori chicken at Moti Mahal so impressed the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, that he made it a regular at official banquets. Visiting dignitaries who enjoyed tandoori chicken included American Presidents Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy, Sovietleaders Nikolai Bulganin and Nikita Khrushchev, the King of Nepal, and the Shah of Iran. The fame of tandoori chicken led to many derivatives, such as chicken tikka (and eventually the Indian dish popularized in Britain, chickentikka masala), commonly found in menus in Indian restaurants all over the world." So there you go!

We are touched by the concern and support shown to us by fellow citizens of this country. Thank you Anish for your support to Eulogy of the Idea of India Fifty years ago, on the 27th of May, Jawaharlal Nehru passed away after successfully steering the country for seventeen years. Had he been alive today, he would've been distraught to see the sheer inhumanity of the Government when hundreds of innocent Mumbaikars came to the streets to light candles to save their homes - ironically, on his Death Anniversary. Today we see a death of the ideals of the people who shaped this nation. For them, laws were not a means to corner people into difficult situations but were rather guiding frameworks built to facilitate the well being of the masses to promote the idea of an India that was made of its people, by its people and for its people. The way laws have been applied (selectively, at that) to promote vested interests and deny people of the homes they've lived in for decades is appalling. It is also unfortunate th ...

Life is like a game of cards. The hand that is dealt you represents determinism; the way you play it is free will - Jawaharlal Nehru
Our country has seen a combined lot of 15 Prime Ministers in these 66 years , each of them had a capturing persona that outshone them , here are a bunch of quotes by each of the 15 Prime Ministers of India. 1. “ At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance.” jawaharlal nehruImage Source —– Jawaharlal Nehru 2. “Water gushing out of thousands of springs at different places cannot move the wheels of a big engine to carry out very heavy tasks. But the channeled flow of the same water in the bed of a stream will, however, be irresistible and can become a source of tremendous energy.” Gulzarilal NandaImage Source —— Gulzarilal Nanda 3. “If Pakistan has any ideas of annexing any part of our territories by force, she should think afresh. The Constitution of India-2 Features The Constitution of India draws extensively from Western legal traditions in its enunciation of the principles of liberal democracy. It is distinguished from many Western constitutions, however, in its elaboration of principles reflecting aspirations to end the inequities of traditional social relations and enhance the social welfare of the population. According to constitutional scholar Granville Austin, probably no other nation's constitution "has provided so much impetus toward changing and rebuilding society for the common good." Since its enactment, the constitution has fostered a steady concentration of power in the hands of the central government - especially the Office of the Prime Minister. This centralization has occurred in the face of the increasing assertiveness of an array of ethnic and caste groups across Indian society. Increasingly, the government has responded to the resulting tensions by resorting to the formidable array of authoritarian powers provi ...
The Constitution of India-1 The Constitution of India was passed by the Constituent Assembly of India on November 26, 1949, and came into effect on January 26, 1950. India celebrates January 26 each year as Republic Day. It is the longest written constitution of any independent nation in the world, containing 395 articles and 12 schedules, as well as numerous amendments, for a total of 117,369 words in the English language version. The importance of the Constitution The Constitution lays down the basic structure of government under which the people are to be governed. It establishes the main organs of government - the executive, the legislature and the judiciary. The Constitution not only defines the powers of each organ, but also demarcates their responsibilities. It regulates the relationship between the different organs and between the government and the people. The Constitution is superior to all other laws of the country. Every law enacted by the government has to be in conformity with the Constituti ...

TRUTH ABOUT ARTICLE 370 IN CONSTITUTION OF INDIA. The article 370 is special provision for state of jammu and Kashmir and there are Similar special provisions in constitution for Nagaland, manipur, mizoram, Sikkim and even for marathwada region. So its wrong that, the special provision is made for Kashmir only. This article is based on Instrument of accession signed by King of Kashmir Harising on 27 September 1947.This instrument was same for all princely state in India and another instrument was stand still agreement, Which was also required to be signed by princely state. All most all princely states signed the stand still agreement either with India or Pakistan depending upon their transport and other facilities. This Standstill argument was in respect of continuation of market, transport, post, cables, medicine supply etc. but so far situation of Kasmir is concerned Market, postal services, medicine supply, cables, accessible roads in Kashmir was connected with Pakistan and not with India. So Kashmir si ...

= RSS's opposition to "The Indian National Flag" = Here are few historical facts related to RSS's opposition to the tricolor as India's national flag: ***1***. Organiser, the RSS English organ in its third issue (July 17, 1947) disturbed by the Constituent Assembly’s decision to select the Tricolour as the National Flag, carried an editorial titled 'National Flag', demanding that the saffron flag be chosen instead. Refer page 14: The same demand continued to be raised in editorials on the eve of Independence of India (July 31 editorial titled 'Hindusthan' and August 14 editorial titled 'Whither') simultaneously rejecting the whole concept of a composite nation. The August 14 issue also carried 'Mystery behind the Bhagwa Dhawaj' (saffron flag) which while demanding hoisting of saffron flag at the ramparts of Red Fort in Delhi, openly denigrated the choice of the Tri-colour as the National Flag in the following words: "THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COME TO POWER BY THE KICK OF FATE MAY GIVE IN OUR HANDS THE TRICOLO ...
Times of India Article : A truly historic win? For a country that is famous for not having historical records and a historical sense, using the words "historic win" with abandon for Narendra Modi's victory is not surprising. Is there anything very historic about it? No and yes. BJP under Modi got 282 seats and an outright majority, which is certainly its highest ever tally. NDA racked up 336 seats, which it has never done (though it won 303 seats in 1999). These are historic numbers for BJP and NDA; they are not historic in Indian electoral history. Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi did better, as did Rajiv Gandhi in 1984. In 1977, Janata Party, allying with Akali Dal and Congress for Democracy, won 345 seats. Congress's tally of 44 seats is surely a historic low for the party. But it is not a historic low for a major national party. In 1984, when Rajiv Gandhi chalked up his huge victory, BJP got only two seats in Lok Sabha. What about vote percentages? Here the story is not impressive at all. BJP got 31 ...
Anti-Modi resolution blocked in Pak's Punjab assembly PTI | May 28, 2014 LAHORE: A resolution against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his "allegations" of terrorism against Pakistan was on Wednesday blocked in the Assembly of Punjab province, ruled by Premier Nawaz Sharif's PML-N party. The opposition comprising Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, PPP, PML-Q and Jamaat-e-Islami wanted to bring the "anti-Modi" resolution in the 372-member house but Speaker Rana Iqbal did not allow it. Punjab province is ruled by chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, brother of Premier Nawaz Sharif who met Modi in New Delhi yesterday. Opposition members started shouting slogans against India and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government as they tore the copies of the agenda of today's proceedings. Opposition leader Mahmoodur Rasheed said it was unfortunate that the Speaker was indirectly supporting Modi. The opposition members then walked out and held a demonstration on the stairs of the Assembly. Earlier in the day, they ...
For the first time in the history of India people are interrogating issues of HRD Minister and her qualifications, Article 370 and many more just within two days...Credit goes to Aam Aadmi Party which acted as platform to awaken people of India. They may have many some bad sides... Now people have started to ask questions even with BJP.. Professor Yogendra Yadav once mentioned it during his maiden speech in Jawaharlal Nehru University at Tapti Hostel JNU over a topic " THE IDEA OF INDIA, VERSION 2++ ". Thanks to Arvind Kejriwal that now people are keeping a tight vigil over the performance of Govt. They compelled the people of India to take interest in politics. Unfortunately he earned very much ire due to "proper communication link with the competence level of aam aadmi ".. but surely he deserves the credit... Thanks
Article 370 is making headlines. The easiest way to understand it is by knowing what then Law Minister Dr.Ambedkar replied to then Prime Minister of J&K sheikh abdullah on proposing article 370 "You wish India should protect your borders, she should build roads in your area, she should supply you food grains, and Kashmir should get equal status as India. But Government of India should have only limited powers and Indian People should have no rights in Kashmir. To give consent to this proposal, would be a treacherous thing against the interests of India and I, as the Law Minister of India, will never do it."But Jawaharlal Nehru as always considered his personal interests and passed this article with the help of Sardar Patel against the wish of his own Law Minister.
Shahzad Ibrahimi, a doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University who runs a dhaba on its campus, had the “biggest happiness” of his life when he got an invitation to attend Narendra Modi’s swearing-in. “A chai-wallah has become PM. And he has remembered another chai-wallah to witness it. I am overwhelmed. I am so happy. I cannot describe it,” he said. Ibrahimi, 41, had done his MA, MPhil and PhD from JNU but failed to get a good job and ended up serving tea and snacks on the varsity campus. The invitation came after a leader of the RLSP, a BJP ally in Bihar, shared his profile with Modi’s office and requested an invite for Ibrahimi. “I hope under Modi, nobody with my academic credentials has to sell tea,” he said.
Jawaharlal Nehru thought of constitutional rules as guiding principles rather than binding constraints
Irom Chanu Sharmila is in Delhi today, nay, she was in Delhi today. For, by the time you read this, she will be back to her 15 by 10 ft. room of the security ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal (Manipur), where she has been kept in judicial custody since 13 years.  She was brought to Delhi yesterday to be produced before a Sessions Judge at the Patiala House Court.      Her crime?   According to the Police, Irom Sharmila ‘attempted to commit suicide’, which is a crime under section 309 of the Indian Penal Code. But Sharmila contests this charge by saying, “No, I love life and I want to live like a normal human being. I don’t want to kill myself but I only want justice and peace.”       Today, when I met her for the first time at the Court, I was amazed to see her levels of energy, strength and optimism. How could someone manage to be so energetic and full of life, I asked myself? That, after going through so much of pain. It was incredible to see her talkin ...

LEGAL STATUS OF KASHMIR? SCRAP ARTICLE 370 TODAY! Omar Abdullah is a novice thrust by the same dynasty of Jawaharlal Nehru. Communists too are divisive. Please calculate the Indian population without them. We can sweep them out. There can not be a country within a country. There can not be a separate State with separate Constitutional Provision within one India. The provision of Article 370 came from Nehru whose Muslim grandfather was a Police Station In-charge in a police station in Kashmir who fled when English were killing Muslims. It was not Nehru's private fiefdom that he would have Art 370 thrust on India in his hope to return to his roots one day. PM Modi must immediately scrap Art 370 otherwise what shall prevent Sikkim or Hyderabad to leave India as India annexed those from their rulers. There shall be one India Omar or no Omar.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's speech in the Indian parliament on 7 August 1952: “With all deference to this Parliament, I would like to say that the ultimate decision will be made in the minds and hearts of the men and women of Kashmir and not in this Parliament or at the United Nations…. First of all, let me say clearly that we accept the basic proposition that the future of Kashmir is going to be decided by the good will and pleasure of the people. The goodwill and pleasure of this Parliament is of no importance in this matter, not because this Parliament does not have the strength to decide the question of Kashmir but because any kind of imposition would be against the principle that this Parliament upholds…..The question of Kashmir, as this House well knows, certainly has not been for us a question of territory…..Kashmir is very close to our minds and hearts; if however, the people of Kashmir do not wish to remain with us, let them go by all means. We will not keep them against their will, however ...
ABOUT SIWAN DISTRICT Siwan derived its name from "Shiva Man", a Bandh Raja whose heirs ruled his district until the arrival of Babur Maharajganj, which is another subdivision of Siwan District, which is another subdivision of Siwan district, may have found its name from the seat of the Maharaja there. A statue of Lord Vishnu has also been found in Village Bherbania from underneath a tree that indicates that there were large numbers of followers of this god. According to legend Dronacharya of Mahabharata belonged to village `Don` in Darauli Block. Some believe Siwan to be the place where Lord Buddha died. Siwan is also known as Aliganj Sawan after the name of Ali Bux. He was one of the ancestors of the feudal lords of the area. During the 8th century Siwan was a part of Banaras Kingdom. In the 13th century the Muslims came here. Siwan was ruled by Sikandar Lodi in the 15th century. Babur crossed Ghaghara River near Siwan during his return journey. At the end of the 17th century, the Dutch came followed by ...
New Delhi: The traditional hold of lawyers over top posts in the Union Cabinet since independence, from Jawaharlal Nehru to the present, continues as seven of the 23 Cabinet ministers under Prime Minister Narendra Modi are lawyers, some renowned and the others not so well known. Among the top lawyers, designated as ‘senior advocates’, are Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad. While Jaitley stopped practicing after becoming leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, Prasad’s last assignment in the Supreme Court was to represent Sahara chief Subrata Roy. While Jaitley got his law degree from Delhi University, Prasad graduated in law from Patna University. The other top Cabinet ministers who have law degrees are Sushma Swaraj, M Venkaiah Naidu, Sadananda Gowda, Ram Vilas Paswan and Ananth Kumar. Among ministers of state with independent charge, Rao Inderjit Singh too holds a law degree from Delhi University. While Swaraj was a practicing lawyer before getting into active politics, others like Naidu, Gowda, P ...

For Article 370, Indian Constitution grants special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir State, The most of Indian Acts are applicable to entire India except J and K, Even Late PM honorable Shri Jawaharlal Nehru said, " This Article is Temporary " The Central Government has to take proper steps to abolish this Article as early as possible. It should be made for the public debate for its pros and cons.
I was 16 when he died and remember well his last speech on All India Radio. Anguished about riots in Assam  he said "every Indian is a brother and is to be treated as such…."    I thought you might want to reread  a famous statement of his and parts of his will which besides being exquisite in their prose speak of the Ganga in a way that transcends the  period he lived in and unites us all as children of the subcontinent. I have highlighted parts I particularly love: If any people choose to think of me, then I should like them to say 'this was a man who, with all mind and heart, loved India and the Indian People'. And they, in turn, were indulgent to him and gave him of their love most abundantly and extravagantly.  I have received so much love and affection from the Indian People that nothing that I can do can repay even a small fraction of it, and indeed there can be no repayment of so precious a thing as affection. Many have been admired, some have been revered, but the affection of all classes ...
Was going through Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on hearing the rumour that Narendra Modi plans to award him Bharat Ratna and was shocked on finding what i found. The links to the same are in the "comments" Though I admire Bhagat Singh and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for their patriotism there cannot be any denying of the fact that both would have sacrificed Hindu's for their sickular politics and principles. While one Jawaharlal Nehru was responsible for so much of misery of Hindu's in the past 70 years, what would have happened if Subhash Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh were participants in post-independence Indian politics? Dread to think about it. Recent disclosures say that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was very much instrumental in getting us Independence from the British. But luckily that was the end of his participation in Indian politics. Winston Churchill let Great Britain to victory in World War 2, and anyone would have thought that he would have swept the election held just after the war. But the Bri ...
Does Jawaharlal Nehru really deserve all this respect and reverence? He was the guy responsible for partition which he did with ulterior motives so that the future governance of India would remain with his family. A treacherous act for which the nation suffered for 60 years under the accursed dynasty. Nehru was the one who kicked off communalism in the country through the act of partition very much against stiff opposition from Mahatmaji and Sardar Patel. Resultingly, India had to pay dearly by sacrificing Mahatmaji himself who was sadly misunderstood and assassinated. In one way isn't Nehru responsible for Mahatma Gandhi's death? Wasn't history twisted and distorted to suit the evil agendas of the dynasty? Weren't we Indians hoodwinked all along? This are points worth putting our thinking caps on and pondering upon.

Open letter to Modi from a hardcore Nehruvian - via Nikhil Mallampalli GOPALKRISHNA GANDHI Let this historic win be followed by a historic innings, which stuns the world by surprises your supporters may not want of you but many more would want to see you unfurl, writes Gopalkrishna Gandhi Dear Prime Minister-designate, This comes with my hearty felicitations. I mean and say that in utter sincerity, which is not very easy for me to summon, because I am not one of those who wanted to see you reach the high office that you have reached. You know better than anyone else, that while many millions are ecstatic that you will becomePrime Minister, many more millions may, in fact, be disturbed, greatly disturbed by it. Until recently I did not believe those who said you were headed there. But, there you are, seated at the desk at which Jawaharlal Nehru sat, Lal Bahadur Shastri did, and, after a historic struggle against Indira Gandhi’s Emergency, another Gujarati, Morarji Desai did, as did later, your own politi ...
“Failure comes only when we forget our ideals and objectives and principles.” .(Pandit) Jawaharlal Nehru (November 14, 1889 - May 27, 1964) – aka Panditji – an Indian politician and statesman, a leader in the India’s Independence Movement, and the first Prime Minister of Independent India. He was the father of Indira Gandhi and the maternal grandfather of Rajiv Gandhi, who were to later serve as the third and sixth Prime Ministers of India, respectively. _ JAWAHARLAL NEHRU Jawaharlal Nehru was born on November 14, 1889 to (Advocate) Motilal Nehru and Swaroop Rani in a Kashmiri Pandit family in Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh). Jawaharlal Nehru died on May 27th, 1964. Guess what decease caused his death ? SYPHILIS. Yes. STD (Sexually Transmitted Decease) Syphilis. His sister Kamlaa Nehru was interviewed by Dominique LaPierre author of Freedom at Midnight. When asked about Chaachaa's relation with Lady Mountbatten, She defended her brother by saying that, and I quote "my brother has now been impotent for several years and hence cannot have any sexual relation with anyone." Lairs. All of them Nehrus and pseudo Gandhis. Bahut Chaalaak chaachaa thaa yeh toh.
New Delhi accepted Tibet as a part of China in 1953 during the government of then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The genesis of the incident was that a day earlier, there had been a minor scuffle between the Sikh sentries of the 10 J&K Rifles and their Chinese counterparts on a flat patch of icy land of about 5 metres on the unmarked boundary. It had a boulder about 30 cm in height in the centre of the narrow crest which marked the dividing line, according to the watershed principle. Three Indians and an equal number of Chinese sentries were positioned on either side of the boulder, 2 metres from each other. During the fisticuffs, a Chinese sentry was roughed up and he lost a tunic button. The Chinese were thus smarting under a temporary reverse. This fact came to Major K.B. Joshi (Battalion CO 7/11 GR) much later. Having reached Twin huts by September 30, the two companies occupied forward positions by October 1. Major Joshi informed Lt. Rathore that he was on his way to Point 15450 and would be there ...

Lies your teacher Taught You answered 4 years ago Indira Gandhi, daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, became Prime Minister of India in 1966. Mrs. Gandhi was born on November 19, 1917 to Jawaharlal and Kamala Nehru. She was named Indira Priyadarshini Nehru. She fell in love and decided to marry Feroze Khan, a family friend. Feroze Khan’s father, Nawab Khan, was a Muslim, and mother was a Persian Muslim. Jawaharlal Nehru wanted to become Prime Minister of India. He wanted the thrown to contunue in his family. He furter knew that If India remained united, Jinnah may become its Prime Minister. He did not approve name of her daughter to be called as Indira khan (see society/indiragandhi.cfm). If his dynesty was to continue then Indira has to marry either a Gandhi or a Nehru. Since illeterate indians may confuse marriage of a nehru to a nehru, Jawahar lal asked/forced Mahatma Gandhi to adopt Feroz Khan so that Prime Ministership remains in Jawahar lal Family. When Andre Malraux, French culture minister, asked Nehru what his “greatest difficulty” since Independence was, he had replied: “Creating a just state by just means.” After a brief pause, he had added: “Perhaps, too, creating a secular state in a religious country. Especially when its religion is not founded on an inspired book.” An insightful article into Jawaharlal Nehru on the 50th anniversary of his passing. Well worth a read for those doubting his legacy at a time when Nehru-bashing has become a popular sport.
Prime Ministers from the first Jawaharlal Nehru, 1947 to the fifteenth Narendra Damodardas Modi, sworn in May 26, 2014 Some coincidences with these two 1947 and 2014 are toe identical calendars and today the 27th May is Jawaharlal's Death Anniversary and just about end of Congress Rule in India and it's the first Official Day of Narendra Modi. Let's take a moment of silence and pray for Nehru Chacha on his Death Anniversary. 1947 was Sardar Patel's Dream and the most deserving Prime Minister of India, and if that happened there wouldn't have been any Gandhis' and he backed out due to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. And now this time with BJP's clean victory, Narendra Modi, is fulfilling unfinished dreams of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and the obstructing factor today being LK Advani, who still at this age had a dream if becoming Prime Minister and Modi took a Bold and Clever Move by not letting that happen. Kashmir was an issue and still is, let's hope it gets resolved, but I doubt it's going to happen by bilat ...

It brings you face to face with immortality. When I received the invitation from Shri Madhav Godbole a couple of months ago to deliver the Memorial Lecture, I felt doubly honoured. To my generation of “civil servants”, Shri Godbole was always a role model for his integrity and dedication, and I had the privilege of attending his meetings in North Block as Home Secretary in the early 1990s. Indeed, Professor Kobekar strode like a Colossus in the intellectual life of Pune, itself a city with the noble tradition of being a fountainhead of India’s modern political and cultural history. It's now end of the road for our beloved Amby. What has been a long and historical journey from the Morris Motors plant at Cowley to Hindustan Motors at Calcutta. A journey punctuated by many breakdowns, few attempts at modernization and and aura of association with the Sarkari Raj that will stay. And this change comes so close to the 50th Death Anniversary or Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and swearing in of our new Prime Minister. Is this just a coincidence or a sign of changing times?
How to name engineering colleges in Tamilnadu : 1. start with place eg : Coimbatore Institute, Erode Institute etc etc. 2. If all permutations are taken up then names of famous people eg; MGR university, Shivaji University, Jawaharlal nehru univ, periamuthu angamma hotel management institute 3. Narendra Modi is set to become the 15th Prime Minister of India on 26 May 2014. The Prime Minister of India is the chief executive of the Government of India. In India's parliamentary system, the Constitution names the President as head of state de jure, but his de facto executive powers are vested in the Prime Minister and his Council of Ministers. Appointed and sworn-in by the President, the Prime Minister is usually the leader of the party or alliance that has a majority in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Parliament. Since 1947, thirteen people have served as full-time Prime Ministers of India, and one (Gulzarilal Nanda) who has twice acted in that capacity. The first was Jawaharlal Nehru of the Indian National Congress party, who was sworn-in on 15 August 1947, when India gained independence from the British. Serving until his death in May 1964, Nehru remains India's longest-serving Prime Minister. He was succeeded by fellow Congressman Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose 19-month term also ended in ...
“they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” John8:4 The Non-Aligned Movement was never established as a formal organization. The name used initially was that of "Conference of Heads of State or Government of Non-Aligned Countries" which was first held in 1961. The term "Non-Alignment" itself was coined by an Indian UN diplomat V.K. Krishna Menon in 1953. The founding fathers of the Non-aligned movement were: Sukarno of Indonesia, Jawaharlal Nehru of India, Josip Broz Tito of Yugoslavia, Gamal Abdul Nasser of Egypt and Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana. In his speech in Colombo, Nehru laid out the five pillars to be used as a guide for Sino-Indian relations, which were first put forth by Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai who referred to them as Panchsheel (five restraints), these principles would later serve as the basis of the Non-Aligned Movement. The five principles were: Mutual respect for each other' .. ...
Nehru-Gandhi Family History --- The Nehru–Gandhi family is a prominent Indian political dynasty. Their political involvement has traditionally revolved around the Indian National Congress. Members of the family have traditionally led the Congress party and the Republic of India since independence. Contrary to popular belief, Mohandas Karamchand "Mahatma" Gandhi was not related to this family. The Gandhi surname came from Feroze Gandhi, whom Indira Priyadarshini Nehru (the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru) married, and later chose to change her name to Indira Gandhi after marriage. Family Tree- First generation Motilal Nehru (1861–1931), patriarch of Nehru–Gandhi family. He was a lawyer and a prominent leader of the Indian independence movement. He served as the Congress President twice, 1919–1920 and 1928–1929. Swarup Rani Nehru (1868–1938), wife of Motilal Nehru. She became active in the Indian independence movement when her husband and son were jailed by the British. Nandlal Nehru (1845–1887), ...
Shri Rajiv Gandhi At 41, Rajiv Gandhi was the youngest Prime Minister of India, perhaps one of the youngest elected heads of Government in the world. His mother, Indira Gandhi, was eight years older when she first became Prime Minister in 1966. His illustrious grandfather, Jawaharlal Nehru, was 58 when he started long innings of 17 years as free India’s first Prime Minister. Besides being the harbinger of a generational change in the country, Mr. Gandhi received the biggest mandate in the nation’s history. In the elections to the Lok Sabha, which he ordered as soon as the mourning for his slain mother was over, his party, the Congress, got a much higher proportion of the popular vote than in the preceding seven general elections and captured a record 401 seats out of 508. Such an impressive start as the leader of 700 millions Indians would have been remarkable under any circumstance. What makes it even more so, indeed unique, is that Mr. Gandhi was a late and reluctant entrant into politics even thoug ...

ECONOMICS AND COMMERCE Planning Commission Economic planning is a conscious and judicially carried out process for optimum utilisation of existing resources in order to fulfil some well-defined objectives laid down by the state. Perhaps the first attempt to initiate economic planning in India was made by M.Visvesvaraya in 1934. After Independence, the Planning Commission was setup in 1950 under the chairmanship of Jawaharlal Nehru and India ushered in the era of economic planning with the beginning of the First Five Year Plan in 1951. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru - A Profile Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was born in Allabahad on November 14, 1889. He received his early education at home under private tutors. At the age of fifteen, he went to England and after two years at Harrow, joined Cambridge University where he took his tripos in Natural Sciences. He was later called to the Bar from Inner Temple. He returned to India in 1912 and plunged straight into politics. Even as a student, he had been interested in the struggle of all nations who suffered under foreign domination. He took keen interest in the Sinn Fein Movement in Ireland. In India, he was inevitably drawn into the struggle for independence. In 1912, he attended the Bankipore Congress as a delegate, and became Secretary of the Home Rule League, Allahabad in 1919. In 1916 he had his first meeting with Mahatma Gandhi and felt immensely inspired by him. He organised the first Kisan March in Pratapgarh District of Uttar Pradesh in 1920. He was twice imprisoned in connection with the Non-Cooperat ...
Indira Gandhi :— Pridarshani Nehru (Indira Gandhi ) was admitted in Oxford University but driven out from there for non-performance. She was then admitted to Shantiniketan University but, Guru Dev Rabindranath Tagore chased her out for bad conduct.Jawaharlal Nehru only daughter was Pridarshani Nehru who later married to Feroz Khan ,was from the Junagadh area of Gujarat, a grocer supplied wines, etc. to Anand Bhavan, previously known as Ishrat Manzil, which once belonged to a lawyer named Mobarak Ali. Moti Lal Nehru was earlier an employee of Mobarak Ali. Feroze Khan, was then in England with pridarshani Gandhi , married in a London mosque . Feroze’s mother’s family name was Ghandy, often associated with Parsis and this was changed to Gandhi, sometime before his wedding with Indira Gandhi, by an affidavit. But Indira Gandhi married to another man named Mohammad Yunus. After Rajiv’s birth Indira and Feroze lived separately, but they were not divorced. I Am Hindu By Accident --- Jawaharlal Nehru SHAME SHAME SHAME On 14th November each year, we celebrate Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday. We think (as we are taught in school) he was a simple and cheerful leader, a person who had a childlike nature, a great politician. But what is the unknown side of our first Prime Minister? An Addict or an Entertainer or a Hindu merely by accident (in his own words)? * Nehru gave birth to the problem of Kashmir & China.* Nehru had illegal relationships.* Nehru hated ‘Vande Mataram’.* Nehru was ready with a sword to oppose Subhash Chandra Bose! Pandit (?) Jawaharlal Nehru Chacha Nehru… Smoking with Edwina Mountbatten. ..And Nehru’s Birthday is Childrens’ day!The First Prime Minister of Bharat, Jawaharlal Nehru smoking with Lady Mountbatten! Motilal Nehru MUSLIM ANCESTRY On 25 Sep 2012, we saw many national dailies/newspapers carrying a full-page expensive advertisement issued by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Pandit Motilal Nehru, father of Jawaharlal Nehru. This was infuriating as it seemed another needless act of the Dynasty at self-glorification at tax-payers’ cost. There was again Sonia’s improper photo in the Government advertisement showing her as UPA Chairman. The ridiculous and improper habit of putting a party leader’s photo in a Govt advt thus continues unabated. God knows why no Court takes cognizance of this serious impropriety. Of course, the Opposition Parties and the public are also dumb on this issue as they have seen much bigger instances of the financial rape of the nation by the Dynasty. Motilal Nehru’s birth date was actually 6 May 1861 –Gurudev Tagore was born the next day on 7 May 1861 – and it was meaningless to celebrate Motilal’s 150th birth . ...
Priyanka Gandhi'S DOUBLE STANDARDS Brief history. Indira Gandhi converted to Islam, changed the name to Mymuna Beegam to marry Firoz Khan Gandi, a Muslim whose grand father had married a Parsi. Fearing that this would practically destroy her chances of becoming the next Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi connived . Gandhi adopted Firoz Khan and thus gave his surname to teh Muslim. Thus Firoz Khan became Firoz Gandhi. Indira became Indira Gandhi. So whenever Priyanka Gandhi refers to her family as the Gandhi family, she is hiding two issues. One is it is not really the Gandhi family, but the Nehru family. The second is she is no longer eligible for the Gandhi Surname as she married someone with a different surname. Still she prefers to be called Priyanka Gandhi. Why ? Because the old man Gandhi catches votes more than Nehru or Vadhra ! She is a politician, you know. Priyanka vadhra never answers allegations to her husbands' deals. Instead she asks counter questions or diverts the subject c ...
[These seemingly never ending incidents of slapping Arvind Kejriwal, remind me of a tale. Our first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, was travelling in an open car during the first Kumbh Mela after the independence. An old woman walked in front of the car. As the car stopped she pulled Mr. Nehru out of the car and slapped him hard. Mr. Nehru was still perhaps counting the stars when she said "This is your independence? I couldn't make my ends meet during the Raj and my situation has not improved at all!" That master statesman replied, "Madam, you just slapped the Prime Minister of India because you did not earn enough today, did you ever, dare doing the same to the Viceroy during the Raj? Is this independence, not enough?" The fact of the matter is we slap a person we can, not a person we should. A man angry on his boss would slap his wife, the wife would slap the child, the child shall kick the dog, the dog shall chase the cat and so on and so forth. But this cycle of violence has never done anyone, any ...

Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are the names need no introduction. All of you would be able to easily relate to whom I am talking about it here. After all, these names belong to so called “royal” family of India. Well, if we can call them as royal, then most of the call girls and sex workers will be equal or more royal than this family. They at least have some moral left in them but Nehru and Gandhi family seems to know nothing about terms like morality. You would not believe how far these Nehru and Gandhians have gone. The very first doubt is there identity itself – yes, their sirname of Nehru and Gandhi. Since, most of the people in the world know them with these names only, I have no choice but to use the same names for an easy identification and understanding. If I use their real name /sirname /religion, than this post would become extremly complex to understand it even and my objective to bring-forth the hard facts and realities of th ...

I have attended swearing in ceremony of Chief Justice of India today at Rashtrapathi Bhawan. It was at the same place where Jawaharlal Nehru was sworn in as the first Prime Minister of India. Rajaji as the last Governor General and then Babu Rajendra Prasad as first President on 26th Jan 1950. It is straight under the dome of Rashtrapathi Bhawan. We were told that it was second largest house of the head of the nation. I met the Minister Kapil Sibbal who is in tough contest from one of the Delhi Lok Sabha seats. Lal Bahadur Shastri-A selfless leader, " The Homeless Home Minister".(Must read) When he was the Railway Minister, he owned moral responsibility for a train accident in south India and resigned, in 1956. He did not have a house of his own, even when he was the Home Minister and people used to tease him the "homeless Home Minister". That was Lal Bahadur Shastri, who shares his date of birth with Mahatma Gandhi and was a staunch follower of the latter's path of truth and non-violence. In the first general elections of the Indian Republic, the Congress was returned to power with a huge majority. Shastri, who was the general secretary of the party at that time, had complete control over the selection of partry candidates. But he did not contest the elections. The Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, however, did not wish to leave such an able and honest man outside the government. He persuaded him to seek election to the Rajya Sabha. He won the election and was appointed the Railway Minister. At that time there ...
How ‘secular’ is Congress? A leading Hindu member of the Indian National Congress was embarrassed with her daughter’s wish to marry a person from a different community. This eminent personality was the closest to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who is known the world over as Mahatma Gandhi. Indira Priyadarshini the daughter of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was married to Feroze Khan finally after Mahatma Gandhi lent his name ‘Gandhi’ to Feroze Khan, who from thereafter was called as Feroze Gandhi and not Feroze Khan, and accordingly the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru was called as Indira Gandhi instead of Indira Feroze Khan, thus avoiding a major embarrassment to Nehru family. This manifests how un-secular was Nehru family. Had the Congress and its leader been ‘secular’ as they proclaim, then why was this arrangement of lending the ‘Gandhi’ name to erase ‘Khan’ was done 74 years ago? By this arrangement another great advantage the Nehru family gained was the ‘legacy’ of Mahatma Gandhi on whi ...
Centre for Philosophy School of Social Sciences Jawaharlal Nehru University Talk by Jay Drydyk Professor of Philosophy, Carleton University, Canada. Two Concepts of Overlapping Consensus Date: Monday, 28th April, 2014, Time: 3:00 pm Venue: Conference Room (2nd floor), Centre for Philosophy, SSS-I Abstract How can credible agreement on the value and importance of human rights be reached in a world that is culturally and ethically pluralistic? One solution, ‘overlapping consensus’ was proposed by John Rawls. The consensus that Rawls had in mind is agreement on shared political values – not about what is valuable and important throughout life, but only about what is valuable and important in political life. The overlap is achieved when people find further support for these values in their broader moral ideas. However, Rawls insisted that these broader moral ideas should not be put forward directly in political justification, e.g., Christians should not advocate political arrangements (such as human rig ...

Jawaharlal Nehru in his book "Discovery of India", describes Islam to have been faith for military conquests, he wrote "Islam had become a more rigid faith suited more to military conquests rather than the conquests of the mind," and that Muslims brought nothing new to his country. The Muslims who came to India from outside brought no new technique or political or economic structure. Inspite of religious belief in the brotherhood of Islam, they were class bound and feudal in outlook.[

on dated You spend a lot of time on Jawaharlal Nehru in the book and on the downward trajectory of his reputation. How can Nehru get his reputation back? Mr. Guha: He can’t get his reputation back so long as his genealogical descendants illegitimately claim his mantle. Every time Rahul Gandhi says a stupid thing on television, Nehru’s historical reputation takes a further rap. It’s hard for people to understand that he played a crucial role in nurturing a sense of national unity, in laying the foundations of a multi-party democracy, in assuring equal rights to minorities. At the same time he was unnecessarily suspicious of entrepreneurs and he didn’t really talk about primary education as a solution to inequality. But a judicious, balanced impression of Nehru is impossible so long as his family controls the Congress party. I read the book- Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire, by Alex von Tunzelmann. It is a book with a detailed account on how princely states were unified within India and how division of territories was being done for both India and Pakistan. Many personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, Jinnah, Lord Mountbatten, Lady Mountbatten played a role in this process. The book explains how after it was certain that partition was inevitable, the hostility between two communities made each side insecure and ensured that the separation was extremely painful. Within India too, some problems we are facing are on account of these differences that were only subdued and never resolved. One also reads about how within the Hindu community, an angst was being developed against Gandhiji, who in many people's opinion was only trying to bring peace between members of the two communities. Activities of the Hindu Mahasabha and RSS also appeared to prevent the 'appeasement'. The acc ...

This is giving an impression that a ‘mass hypnosis’ has overtaken the whole country. It is our duty to stand against this manufactured ‘consensus’. That is why JNUSU has given a call to go to Varanasi and campaign against Mr. Modi,” explains JNUSU president Akbar Chawdhary. The JNUSU team will leave Delhi on April 28 and reach Varanasi on April 29.

1--Jawaharlal Nehru died 50 years ago this month. Gyanesh Kudaisya describes the final years of India’s founding Prime Minister, a period marked by major challenges at home as well as abroad in the aftermath of the 1962 war with China. 2--For three generations one Calcutta family pioneered cultural, political and social advance, making a profound mark on Indian modernity, says Chandak Sengoopta. 3--The intriguing death of an Indian holy man in 1985 suggested that he was none other than Subhas Chandra Bose, the revolutionary and nationalist who, it is officially claimed, died in an air crash in 1945. The truth, however, is harder to find, as Hugh Purcell discovers.

Thousands of Visitors at Rajghaat but at Kisan Ghaat i was the Only One this Tuesday.Samadhis of Charan Singh , Revolutionary Leader of Farmers and Former PM & that of Devi Lal Charan Singh opposed Jawaharlal Nehru on his Soviet-style economic reform. Charan Singh was of the opinion that cooperative farms would not succeed in India. Being a son of a farmer, Charan Singh opined that the right of ownership was important to the farmer in remaining a cultivator. Charan Singh's political career suffered due to his open criticism of Nehru's economic policy. Charan Singh left the Congress party in 1967, and formed his own political party, Bharatiya Kranti Dal. With the help and support of Raj Narain and Ram Manohar Lohia, he became Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1967, and later in 1970. Manash Bhattacharjee from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Creon: So the city now will instruct me how I am to govern? Haemon: Now you’re talking like someone far too young. Don’t you see that? Creon: Am I to rule this land at someone else’s whim or by myself? Haemon: A city which belongs to just one man is no true city. ~Sophocles, Antigone

For those who are quite seriously interested in an unpolluted national perspective and the culture of this great country , please read ↑ re read The Discovery Of India by Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru . The eloquence of English is astonishingly simple yet absolutely absorbing ( each word in the true sense ). I am experiencing an evolution and am sure you will too
The RSS was invited by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to take part in the Republic Day parade of 1963 in recognition of its volunteer work during the Sino-Indian War in 1962. This event helped the RSS improve its popularity and strengthen its nationalist image. During 1965 India-Pakistan war Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri requested RSS cadres to help control traffic in Delhi, so policemen could be freed for defence duties. On the close of the war General Kushwant Singh of Indian Army thanked the RSS for their relief and support work for the army and nation. Later in 1971 Indo-Pak war also, the RSS volunteers offered their services to maintain law and order of the country and were apparently the first to donate blood.
Fantastic and Inspiring speech by late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru!
Indian Independence: Partition Source 5 Extracts from a note by Jawaharlal Nehru, dated 11 May 1947, sent to Rear-Admiral Viscount Mountbatten of Burma, concerning a draft of a plan for the partition of India. [IOR: L/P&J/10/79 ff.234-40] Mountbatten, once in India, became aware of how quickly the situation was deteriorating and was willing to be flexible in order to reach an agreement as soon as possible. Nehru was staying with Mountbatten at Simla in May 1947. Upon the basis of a personal 'hunch', Mountbatten showed Nehru a plan for partition which had been prepared by the Viceroy's staff and approved by the British Government. Nehru reacted strongly against the plan. This note indicates that he feared it would lead to the 'Balkanisation' of India (see paragraph 9). The plan was hurriedly revised to meet Nehru's objections. Secret Note by Pandit Nehru dated 11th May 1947 I have very carefully considered, in the short time at my disposal, the papers shown to me. They are of such far-reaching implication ...
In this episode of the History Today Podcast, we speak to Gyanesh Kudaisya about the final years of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, who died in May 1964.
India has witnessed iconic Indians like Mahatma Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Lal Bahadur Shastri, including enlightened souls or activists like former Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Medha Patkar to name a few. And today, hordes of sheep-like consumerists are championing a myopic, fundamentalist and violence-mongering Modi. If he wins, the spine of our nation will be seriously fractured.

Joshi commits historical blunders in poll manifesto?! Veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi was once a professor of physics, so no one can criticise him for committing some "historical" blunders in his party's election manifesto. Manifesto says that India's freedom movement was inspired by Gandhi, Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhas Chandra Bose, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Aurobindo Ghosh. But it does not make any mention of Jawaharlal Nehru, B.R. Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh or Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. At another place the manifesto mentions Spanish scholar Al Andalusi as having said that the first nation to have cultivated science was India. But the manifesto does not mention that Al Andalusi was an Islamic scholar and a qazi in Toledo. As Union Minister of Human Resources Development in the NDA govt, Joshi was accused by his critics of "distorting" history, but the latest "distortions" have even the BJP baffled.
My tribute to the "The Disposable Man", The Sherpa. Doesn't make a difference if Tenzing Norgay lets Edmund Hillary earn the credits of being the first man on the Everest. I think it is about time, we acknowledge who are the true conquers of the Everest are, on whose safety lines and belays a paying westerners life hangs on and at what cost? For more than a century, Western climbers have hired Nepal’s Sherpas to do the most dangerous work on Mount Everest. It’s a lucrative way of life in a poor region, but no service industry in the world so frequently kills and maims its workers for the benefit of paying clients. After Everest "Hillary and Hunt were knighted by Queen Elizabeth, while Tenzing received the George Medal from Queen Elizabeth II for his efforts on the expedition. It has been suggested that Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru refused permission for Tenzing to be knighted." “ It has been a long road ... From a mountain coolie, a bearer of loads, to a wearer of a coat with rows of medals ...

India - South America - intensifying relations India’s Latin American Policy: Looking Beyond Brazil For many years, India has focused its Latin American policy almost exclusively on Brazil. It is time for that to change. By Tridivesh Singh Maini and Sridhar Ramaswamy April 12, 2014 For many years, if you asked the average Indian about Latin America, you would receive either a blank look or perhaps mention of the region’s football powerhouses. Likewise for Latin Americans, for whom India was a distant land known for Ayurveda, yoga, and philosophy. Yet the history is there. Following the Cuban revolution in 1959, for instance, India was one of the few countries to recognize the new regime under Fidel Castro, opening an embassy in Havana the next year. Both countries were members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and shared a similar worldview. Jawaharlal Nehru was among the first world leaders to visit Havana, with the then Indian Prime Minister making the trip in 1960. In many ways, Cuba was a gateway ...

The Constitution was drafted by the Constituent Assembly, which was elected by the elected members of the provincial assemblies. Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Sanjay Phakey, Jawaharlal Nehru, C. Rajagopalachari, Rajendra Prasad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Kanaiyalal Munshi, Purushottam Mavalankar, Sandipkumar Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Nalini Ranjan Ghosh, and Balwantrai Mehta were some important figures in the Assembly. People say it was written by Ambedkar because he was chairman. Prominent jurists like Alladi Krishnaswamy Iyer, Benegal Narsing Rau and K. M. Munshi, Ganesh Mavlankar were also members of the Assembly. Sarojini Naidu, Hansa Mehta, Durgabai Deshmukh, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur and Vijayalakshmi Pandit were important women members. The constitutional advisor was Sir Benegal Narsing Rau (who became First Indian Judge in International Court of Justice, 1950–54). Some facts about Mr.Manmohan Singh, which we people of India ignored or dont know or laugh about . They say - " Manmohan Singh: A good man but let down by the party " and Brand Manmohan as a "God that failed". 1. When in the early '90s he took transformational steps to open up and liberalise a collapsing Indian economy and got his name etched in the history of global economics. 2. Chief economic adviser to the new Prime Minister, Chandra Shekhar, who had replaced V.P. Singh at the head of a minority government propped up by the Congress in November 1990. 3. The quiet academic, who had excelled both at Oxford and Cambridge universities. 4. But all those who have worked with him acknowledge him as a man of scholarship, dedication, intellect - the late national security adviser J.N. Dixit had rated his intellectual calibre "perhaps higher than Jawaharlal Nehru" 5. On the last day of the 15th Lok Sabha, which also happened to be the last day in the House for Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister, BJP leader Arun . ...

But nevertheless for me you remain the wisest man and a man who led the most raucous politicians!! Good Bye Oh wise man!!

Teachers Day is celebrated on the Birthday of A.Indira Gandhi B.Rajendra Prasad C.Radha Krishnan D.Jawaharlal Nehru
Today India is on the threshold of general elections. I post an article I had written many years ago. Nehru was epitome of inclusivity and the original real secular politician.: Appreciating JN In childhood, I was lead by teachers and peers to venerate Jawaharlal Nehru. Then, on growing up, I found lot of criticism heaped on Nehru by people around me. They abused him squarely. Adolescence appreciates such fiery criticisms and for some time, I went along with these opposite views as well. Now, when I can discern and choose my views with a bit more equilibrated mind-set, and poise, I think it was Nehru who was the need of the newly Independent India; may be even more than Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, or, Atal Behari Vajpayee. Reasoning is simple, but to begin, as a Prime Minister what kind of India had he inherited, India that historically had never been, politically, a single nation. To list the sufferings of the newborn India: 1] Illiteracy 2] Superbly superstitious [irrational] India 3] Casteist India 4 ...
The Aam Aadmi Party spokespersons now whine that the media is now focussing on individuals rather than issues. But they have only themselves to blame if that is true. Nobody knows where the Aam Aadmi Party stands on any issue. Prashant Bhushan supports a plebiscite in Kashmir; Kejriwal said he disagreed. It is impossible to reconcile the economic philosophies of Meera Sanyal (the AAP candidate from Mumbai South) and Yogendra Yadav (the AAP candidate from Gurgaon), so the party doesn't even try. Whether it is foreign policy or defence strategy, sharing river waters or nuclear energy, the Aam Aadmi Party refuses to have a coherent policy on anything. Ask them anything, and all you get is a standard answer than removing corruption shall solve all problems. But stupid policies can be as destructive as corruption. Jawaharlal Nehru stopped military operations in 1948, leading to the existence of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Nehru wasn't corrupt, but that idiocy has led to tens of thousands of deaths over and abov ...
But sleep eluded me that night. The 1962 debacle of our army kept haunting me. Jawaharlal Nehru's words that China had stabbed India in the back by launching a dastardly attack crisscrossed my mind many a time. Now, four decades after the bitter war, I was their guest. The Chinese always kept emphasizing that they were not the aggressors. Chou En-lai, the then Chinese Prime Minister, and other Chinese decision-makers had taken Nehru's off-the-cuff statement made in Madras on October 12, 1962, that he had "ordered the Indian Army to throw the Chinese out" very seriously. The PLA in Tibet, where they were entrenched since 1950, mobilized to launch a pre-emptive attack on NEFA. In an academic discussion with my Chinese hosts, I asked them: "Didn't you fire the first shot?" The Chinese hosts replied that after Nehru's provocative statement amounting to a declaration of war, a self-respecting nation like China could not have waited to be attacked. I recall that the Americans were very sympathetic to the Indian ...
''If Muslim League had 100 Gandhis and 200 Abulkalam Azads, there would have been no Pakistan. However, if the Congress had only one Jinnah, India would not have been divided.'' - Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, the sister of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, wrote in her book

What is Janlokpal? why do we need it? Janlokpal bill was first introduced by Shanti Bhushan a Law Minister of Jawaharlal Nehru govt in 1963. Actually Janlokpal the name also given by him. First it was known as Ombudsman bill. Sweden country was the first who passed it in 50's. Shanti Bhushan was so impressed with this law and want to implement in our country also. Janlokpal means a body who check the entire govt system without restrictions and all govt employees, ministers as well as Pm also include in this. In 1968- 69 when Janta Party formed govt then this Lokpal bill was passed in Loksabha but not passed in Rajyasabha and because of that we are still struggling to get this. After that all political parties main agenga were to bring lokpal but fails at all time. Do we need this govt who always gave false promises. After 1963 almost 51 yrs have been passed but still Janlokpal is on paper and not on Law. Now, do we need this govt who always failed to get this law. Think and then Vote.

Independent India's first voter casts ballot in Himachal Pradesh Himachal Pradesh's oldest voter Shyam Saran Negi, who has witnessed the shaping of democracy over almost seven decades, exercised his franchise along with his wife in this tiny picturesque hamlet in Kinnaur district. "I am thankful to the god for giving me an opportunity to elect the representative," Negi said on Sunday. But he seemed to be disillusioned with the present political set-up. "Corruption is at the peak. The leaders we are sending (to the assembly and parliament) are not giving justice. They are getting more involved in corruption and scams," Negi, 95, who voted in Independent India's first elections, said. "The politicians are working more like a businessman than a social worker. That is the main reason for lack of development," he rued, adding "the country needs leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Lal Bahadur Shastri". Secret report on 1962 India-China war posted online, seized by BJP All India | Edited by Deepshikha Ghosh | Updated: March 18, 2014 19:45 IST File pic: A memorial for soldiers who fought in the 1962 India-China war New Delhi: The BJP today targeted the ruling Congress over a secret report that blames the Jawaharlal Nehru government and the military leadership for India's defeat in the 1962 war against China. Excerpts of the classified report were posted online by Australian journalist Neville Maxwell on Monday. The defence ministry today said its contents are top secret as they are "extremely sensitive" and of current operational value. "What are they trying to hide by making the war report classified?" said senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad. "We have a right to know what went wrong. We lost the war because of Nehru." The report says the Indian forces were pushed into a war they could only lose, based on the assumption that the Chinese would not escalate hostilities. (Read: How India bungled 1962 war ...

Bradlaugh Hall: A symbol of a revolution Posted on September 19, 2010 - by Haroon Khalid From 1900 till 1947, for almost half a century the famous Bradlaugh Hall of Lahore situated on the Rettigan road, remained a symbol of Revolution for the entire British India. Charles Bradlaugh, Lala Lajpat Rai, Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, Ajeet Singh, Bhagat Singh, and Jawaharlal Nehru all towering figures of their times have been associated with this hall. What should have been preserved as the museum of political revolution in Lahore lies in shambles near the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences today. There is a huge lock on the entrance of the hall placed there by The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB). The gloomier aspect is that not many people of the city today are aware of the political, cultural and social significance of the Bradlaugh Hall. There are a few people who are actually aware of its existence. Rettigan road in the late 19th century was occupied by massive British bungalows. This was the elite ...

NAM or Non Aligned Movement Summits Non Aligned Movement – Backgrounder What is NAM ? The full form of NAM is Non Aligned Movement. NAM is now an international organisation of states who consider themselves not formally aligned with or against any major power. History of NAM – Who and When was it founded ? The records indicate that the term non-aligned movement was first officially used by V K Krishna Menon, Indian Diplomat and statesman, at United Nations meeting in 1953. However, the actual NAM is considered to be the brainchild of Gamal Abdul Nasser (former President of Egypt), Jawaharlal Nehru (Prime Minister of India), Josip Broz Tito (President of Yugoslav), Kwame Nkrumah (President of Ghana), Sukarno (First President of Indonesia). These five are considered as the Founding Fathers of the NAM and it was founded in April, 1955. What was the purpose of establishing NAM ? What were the objectives ? Letters to the Editor Spontaneous Hindu upheaval in 2002? SIR, In his article, ‘Modi and cyber Hindus’ (20 February), Amulya Ganguli has iterated his opposition to the BJP and the RSS. It bears recall that the pre-Partition “direct action” was masterminded by the Muslim League under the leadership of the then premier of Bengal, Suhrawardi. Dr Shyamaprasad Mookerjee was in the vanguard of the movement to resist the carnage. The question of ‘dynasty’ does not arise with Motilal Nehru and Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das. They started the Swatantra Party, a splinter group of the Congress. The concept of “ruling dynasty” began with Jawaharlal Nehru and continues to this day via the dispensations of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv. As regards the “poisonous propaganda of the Hindu extremists”, Mr Ganguli hasn’t mentioned the terrorist activities of various Islamic organisations, such as LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Hezbollah, SIMI etc. These entities are determined to destabilise India, aided and abetted .. ...
