Sir Alex Ferguson admits Manchester United needed a "big injection" of talent this summer and praised Louis Van Gaal for the six "quality" signings he made. United spent 153 million pounds -- the most ever paid by an English club in a transfer window -- to bring in Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind. And their most successful manager believes the Dutchman had to overhaul the squad -- which largely consisted of Ferguson's own signings, some of whom were sold or loaned out as Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, Shinji Kagawa, Tom Cleverley, Alexander Buttner , Wilfried Zaha and Nani were among those Van Gaal allowed to leave. The Scot never spent more than 62 million pounds in a single transfer window during his 26- year reign at Old Trafford, which ended with his retirement in 2013. In contrast, Di Maria cost a British record fee of 59.7 million pounds when he joined from Real Madrid, and Ferguson told MUTV: "I think when you can identify ability like that ne ...

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal's decision to let Javier Hernandez join Real Madrid has resulted in a positive change that is already benefitting the Mexican striker's career, according to his national coach Miguel Herrera. Hernandez was deemed surplus to requirements by Van Gaal, allowed to make a surprise late summer transfer to La Liga in search of more consistent first-team opportunities elsewhere. Herrera has watched Hernandez grow frustrated over a lack of game time at United over the last 18 months and made him a peripheral figure in Mexico's World Cup campaign as a result. Following in the footsteps of Mexico and Madrid legend Hugo Sanchez has helped change that stance though, with Herrera telling El Nuevo Herald that the 26-year-old's desire has returned.
Manchester United’s coach, Louis Van Gaal is looking to clean up his squad taking away six players. Reported that Van Gaal would allow the sale of six players who are not part of the long term plans Manchester. With the money collected from their sale, United will try to make an offer to return Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford. Four of these six players are on different teams borrowed, specifying Javier Hernandez ‘Chicharito’ who is on loan at Real Madrid. Marouane Fellaini is believed to be one of the players who will soon leave Old Trafford. His destination could be Tottenham, which has provided £ 15 million to bring him at White Hart Lane. List of players that could leave Old Trafford next season: – Tom CleverleyAshley YoungLuis NaniMarouane Fellaini – Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) – Chris Smalling

Javier Hernandez has all but ended his chances of returning to Manchester United after blasting the club for their lack of faith. Talking to Claro Sports, Chicharito admitted that United's lack of belief failed to inspire him with confidence during his three-year stay. He said: "There was no confidence. I remained patient and that's why I'm here today. It was a very tough year especially because they didn't believe in me. "I had the chance to meet Ancelotti when he was Chelsea coach. The faith he has in his players motivates me and makes me work hard. "I really want to make the most of my time here. Any footballer dreams about joining Real Madrid. I know I'm here for a reason. The statistics support me, I'm a good player and a good person." [Source: Express]

Came across this in another group. Whoever wrote this, couldn't have said it in a better way. I really feel bad about how we handled him during his time at the club. Open Letter to Shinji Kagawa from a Manchester United fan .. Hello Shinji, I called it destiny when you arrived at Manchester United. I call it injustice when you have left just two years later. Every United fan was genuinely excited when you arrived. Having watched you tear it up for Dortmund, we were sure we had signed a world class player who would transform the club. You were going to be our number 10. United had been famous for wing play, crosses and mainly the 4-4-2. We believed that you will bring about the modernization of the club, change the way we played. We were licking our lips at the thought of you and Rooney linking up. I still vividly remember watching the first game of the 2012-13 season against Everton. On a night when everyone else struggled, you caught the eye by nonchalantly putting Javier Hernandez through on goal twice. ...

Louis Van Gaal has told his players he will unveil a new-look Manchester United by Monday’s transfer deadline. Van Gaal is ready to jettison the misfits he does not want over the weekend and is poised to make more signings by 11pm on September 1 - to take the Old Trafford giants’ spending this summer through the £150million barrier. Speaking as United unveiled £59.7m British-record signing Angel Di Maria, new manager Van Gaal said he had warned his squad there would be new faces and the framework of a new team in place by Tuesday morning. The Reds are working on moves to sign Arturo Vidal of Juventus and Ajax’s Daley Blind, while offloading Anderson, Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley. “I had a conversation after lunch with the players and I said, maybe after this weekend we shall have another group because players shall go away and others shall come in,” said Van Gaal. “But I cannot say anything about that [new signings] because it raises the price. The club shall ...

Spurs line up £24m move for Javier Hernandez and Marouane Fellaini. Today's transfer tales
According to reports Mauricio Pochettino planning double swoop for Man Utd pair Javier Hernandez and Marouane Fellaini. Move for Hernandez is understandable as we need another striker and Poch could be interested in him due to his proven Premier League scoring record and latin american roots but why would a manger who is famous for playing stylish brand of football would move for Fellaini when he already have half dozen midfielders and almost all of them better than Fellaini at his disposal ? If we sign another midfielder it would be Schneiderlin and none other while arrival of another CB, LW and Striker are still possibility. -gatsby
Manchester United are confident Danny Welbeck will still be at the club after the summer transfer window closes. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to other sides in the Premier League, including Hull City who have been rumored to be plotting a £14million. But the Mirror reports United want to keep at the club as he fits in new boss Louis Van Gaal’s plans to play in the 3-5-2 system. The England international may find it difficult to receive opportunities upfront due to the presence of Wayne Rooney, Robin Van and Javier Hernandez, but could be used as wide player due to his work ethic. That will disappoint Hull who made Welbeck their main target to replace Shane Long who has made a move to Southampton for £12million. The FA Cup runners-up have been keeping an eye on several fringe players from major Premier League sides as they look to emulate their success from last season.
Millions of Reds all over the world are united today in condemnation of a dire opening day performance from Louis Van Gaal’s side. The 2-1 defeat at the hands of Swansea City in front of a packed Old Trafford shattered hopes that a return to the glory days are just around the corner following last season’s sorry showing. Hopes were high going into the new season following the arrival of Van Gaal. But the display against a solid, but hardly sensational, Swansea was a total let down. Certain players – Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Javier Hernandez, Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini and, of course, Nani – should hang their heads in shame. You wonder just how bad the Reds would be without the newly-appointed skipper Wayne Rooney. Sadly, only the England striker out of this sorry bunch of a squad would be an automatic choice for City or Chelsea, who are sure to be contesting the Premier League title. And arguably hardly any other of the United starting XI would make the Arsenal or even Liverpool teams in c ...
Swansea City ruined Louis Van Gaal’s first game as Manchester United manager after claiming a shock 2-1 victory at Old Trafford. Summer signing Gylfi Sigurdsson scored Swansea’s winner with just under 20 minutes remaining, having also teed up Ki Sung-yueng’s first-half opener before Wayne Rooney acrobatically levelled for United early in the second half. United suffered a blow midway through the first half when debutant Jesse Lingard was forced off due to injury and was replaced by Adnan Januzaj. Swansea took the lead with the first real chance of the game on 28 minutes when Sigurdsson rolled a pass across the edge of the area and Ki, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, placed a low shot beyond David de Gea’s reach. Louis Van Gaal brought Nani on for Javier Hernandez at half-time, ditching his 3-5-2 formation in the process, and saw United equalise within eight minutes of the restart. Juan Mata’s corner was helped on at the near post by Phil Jones and newly-appointed captain Rooney’s ...

TURAN ANOTHER UNITED OPTION... With talk of Angel Di Maria now going a touch quiet, the papers need to draw a new name out of their hat for United's midfield. Atletico Madrid's Arda Turan is that man. So say the Daily Mirror. The Turkish winger has been talked about infrequently this summer regarding a move to Old Trafford, but nothing has really got off the ground as yet. The Mirror claim that Van Gaal is keen on the 27-year-old, who would be available for a fee of around £15million. They also claim that this could see United on a 'collision course' against Liverpool, who apparently also wish to sign Turan. Marouane Fellaini grabbed a last-minute winner as Manchester United warmed up for the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Valencia. The Belgian, who has had a tough time at Old Trafford since he was signed by David Moyes nearly a year ago, pounced on a defensive mistake in injury time to ensure the Reds finished their pre-season programme unbeaten. Darren Fletcher had put United ahead early in the second half, after Wayne Rooney had missed a penalty before the break. Rodrigo equalised in Valencia’s best spell, but just as the friendly looked to be drifting to a draw, substitute Fellaini pounced for the deciding goal. Louis Van Gaal's first game in charge at Old Trafford saw the Dutchman unveil the 3-5-2 system that served him well so far in pre-season, but although United looked comfortable the game only came to life as a contest when Rooney struck his spot kick against the base of the post having been clipped going for an Ashley Young cross. Fletcher put United ahead with a deflected shot from the ' ...

Man Utd Transfer News: £125m splurge on Angel Di Maria, Arturo Vidal AND Mehdi Benatia Louis Van Gaal is hoping he can pull off a terrific triple swoop as Manchester United look to sign Juventus' Arturo Vidal, Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria and Roma's Mehdi Benatia. The Dutchman is determined to develop his newly-inherited squad after capturing Southampton's Luke Shaw and Athletic Bilbao's Ander Herrera in big-money moves, and Vidal's protracted switch is picking up pace after it emerged that Old Trafford outcast Javier Hernandez is ready to join the Serie A champions. Reports in Italy claim that the Turin giants are keen to add the Mexican to their ranks, smoothing the path for United to secure Vidal's highly coveted signature. However, the Red Devils are also planning to pair Vidal with Di Maria in midfield next season, and Van Gaal has launched a fresh £55million bid for the Argentina international's services after Paris St-Germain dropped out of the race. Man Utd have made a £55million bid for Angel ...

England striker Wayne Rooney capped off Manchester United’s pre-season trip to the USA by leading the Reds to a 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the International Champions Cup. Rooney, who was also named as the player of the tournament, captained United in the fifth and final match of their tour as new boss Louis Van Gaal continues his impressive start to life at Old Trafford. And Rooney scored United’s first goal of the night by volleying home a cross from Javier Hernandez to equalise an earlier penalty from Liverpool and former England captain Steven Gerrard. Juventus Want Two Manchester United Players As Arturo Vidal Looks Set For Old Trafford Transfer Juventus have identified two Manchester United squad players as possible makeweights in any deal for star midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to Corriere dello Sport. The Italian giants would want to open talks with United for the signings of Javier Hernandez and Nani if Vidal is to leave Turin for Manchester this summer, with the Chilean ace widely expected to make the move to Old Trafford. United have long been in the market for a world class signing in midfield, and Vidal has been mentioned as one of their top targets for this summer, whilst other big names such as Toni Kroos and Fredy Guarin have also been linked with the club. Still, a move for Vidal could now be on, and the player is said to be determined to push through a move to the Premier League after having his head turned by the big money contract offer waiting for him at United. Juventus will certainly be disappointed to lose such an important playe ...
Javier Hernandez come back we still doing overtime
Juventus are reportedly considering a move to take Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez this summer. Inter have been strongly linked to the Mexico international in recent days, only to be dismayed by a high asking price. Tuttosport believe the Red Devils’ request of €11m (£8.7m) for the striker has delayed Inter’s attempts and instead brought Juve into contention. The Turin-based publication say the Bianconeri are readying an offer of €2m (£1.6m) for an initial season-long loan, with a purchase option set in place for between €7m (£5.6m) and €8m (£6.4m). It is understood that negotiations over Hernandez will be unrelated to anything that may be ongoing or not with United’s continued interest in Arturo Vidal.
Manchester United LIFTS INTERNATIONAL CHAMPION CUP Man U have sent an early warning to all English Premier League teams by beating Liverpool 3:1 to lift International Champion Cup in Miami, USA. Liverpool was the first to settle down in a match played in a high humidity. The Red Devils took time to find their rhythm as both teams used the same style of play. In the 13 minutes, Liverpool was given a penalty after Jones trickled down Sterling who was a hot potato for United defenders to handle. Steven Gerrard took it and sent the ball to the right bottom corner of the net making it 1:0. After the goal Liverpool were all over the field as United were still struggling to get their form. In 18 minutes of play, Man U nearly got an equaliser but Mata's 25 yards drive was blocked by the Reds. Sakho was tight at the back frustrating any United move. Coutinho had a chance to extend Liverpool's lead in the 24 minutes of play but De Gea was too good for the threat. At half time The Messeyside giants were still cling ...
Liverpool lead Manchester United at the halfway point of their International Champions Cup final in Miami courtesy of a Steven Gerrard penalty. The Reds skipper stepped up to convert from 12 yards after Phil Jones mistimed his 14th-minute challenge on Raheem Sterling at the Sun Life Stadium. England international Sterling was felled again in the box later in the half, but the American referee did not point to the spot for a second time, allowing United midfielder Ander Herrera a let off. It was Louis Van Gaal's side who created the first opening of the half, with Ashley Young , who scored twice last time out against Real Madrid, crossing for Javier Hernandez to narrowly guide wide. Young's delivery was a good source of United pressure throughout the opening 45 minutes, but Liverpool were the more threatening team overall as Jordan Henderson headed over before Gerrard's penalty. Philippe Coutinho would have doubled the Anfield outfit's advantage on 24 minutes had it not been for a fine save from David de G ...
A second-half fightback from Manchester United saw them beat fierce rivals Liverpool 3-1 to win the International Champions Cup in Miami's Sun Life Stadium. Steven Gerrard scored a first-half penalty for the Reds, before Wayne Rooney , Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard gave Louis Van Gaal his first piece of silverware as United manager. Glen Johnson fed Sterling inside the area on 14 minutes, and the England international was felled by Phil Jones to give the Reds skipper the chance to score from the penalty spot. Gerrard made no mistake as he confidently dispatched it to David de Gea's right-hand corner. The Anfield side had the better of the opening period and Philippe Coutinho forced De Gea into a low save with a fierce effort from outside the box after a good pass from Rickie Lambert. Following the restart, Liverpool's pressing game had United on the backfoot, and Lambert spurned a good chance when Gerrard played him in after robbing Ander Herrera of the ball around 30 yards from goal. The Reds almost had th ...

The Dutchman was delighted to beat the European champions at the vast Michigan Stadium, where 109,318 fans turned up to see United book a place in Monday's International Champions Cup final thanks to Ashley Young's double and Javier Hernandez's second-half goal. "Broadcasters all over the world should show the first goal [by Young] – it was a fantastic goal," said Van Gaal after the match. "I think all the team touched the ball [in the build-up]. People could have come to the stadium just for that goal, I think. Zaha: I couldn't do anything about Moyes rift The former Crystal Palace winger doesn't know why he hardly got a look in under the Scotsman but admits he's relishing the prospect of impressing Dutchman Van Gaal By Sacha Pisani Jul 31, 2014 11:00:00 Manchester United forward Wilfried Zaha said he wants to force his way into Louis Van Gaal's plans after being frozen out by David Moyes. Zaha, 21, was Sir Alex Ferguson's final signing in charge of the club when he arrived at Old Trafford for €15 million last summer, but he played just four times under David Moyes in 2013/14. Moyes was eventually sacked after United finished seventh in the Premier League and missed out on European football altogether. With Dutchman Van Gaal now at the helm at Old Trafford, Zaha is relishing the opportunity to emerge from the shadows and stake his claim for regular football in Manchester after a forgettable season. Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone not ruling out a move for Javier Hernandez:
Louis Van Gaal maintained his unbeaten record as Manchester United boss following a penalty shootout win over Inter Milan in Washington DC. All five United penalty takers found the net in a 5-3 showdown that followed a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes. United only registered one shot on target in the first half, but they upped their game after the break. Substitute Wilfried Zaha, making his first appearance of the tour, was particularly impressive playing as a striker, as was Luke Shaw. Zaha, and Tom Cleverley were unlucky not to be awarded penalties in normal time at the FedEx Field. David de Gea only had one save to make during the match and he watched Marco Andreoli hit the bar from 12 yards, which allowed Darren Fletcher to fire home the winner. Fletcher, Ashley Young, Javier Hernandez, Cleverley and Shinji Kagawa all scored fine penalties. It was a far better performance from 12 yards than the dismal 2-1 shootout defeat to Sunderland in the Capital One Cup semi-final under David Moyes last year. After beati ...

New boss to cull 10 United players: Louis Van Gaal started work at Manchester United yesterday and a few of the papers agree on the fact that the steely Dutchman is ready to take an axe to the squad bequeathed to him by David Moyes. United have already signed Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera this summer and, according to the Mirror, Van Gaal wants to sign at least four more players, meaning a big overhaul of the squad is required. According to the Mirror: "The players poised to be shown the door by Van Gaal include Ashley Young, Wilfried Zaha, Marouane Fellaini, Bebe, Anderson, Tom Cleverley, Nani and Nick Powell. With Patrice Evra leaving for Juventus just weeks after being handed a new deal and striker Javier Hernandez open to a move elsewhere to play more regularly, Van Gaal could jettison as many as 10 of Moyes’ squad." Read the full story in the Mirror The Daily Express also throws a certain Japanese playmaker's name into the ring: "The players under threat are Nani, Marouane Fellaini, Ashley Young, Shi ...
