Congrats to Rockford and CMU alum Joe Staley on making the Pro Bowl. Forest Hills Northern and Hillsdale grad Jared Veldheer deserved a spot at left tackle on the roster but was left off. His name not big enough yet for players or fans who voted.
On a side note Jared Veldheer was definitely snubbed. Having an awesome year!

Oakland Raiders Grade: F Key signings: QB Matt Schaub (trade), LT Donald Penn, OLB LaMarr Woodley, S Charles Woodson, RB Darren McFadden, DE Justin Tuck, DE Antonio Smith, WR James Jones, CB Tarell Brown, G Kevin Boothe, T Austin Howard Key subtractions: LT Jared Veldheer, DE Lamarr Houston, CB Tracy Porter, CB Mike Jenkins, DT Vance Walker, RB Rashad Jennings The Raiders rallied to improve their roster after an embarrassing start to free agency that featured their botched attempt to sign Saffold to an overpriced contract. Unfortunately for Oakland, the moves did not set up the team for long-term success. The first 12 players Oakland added or re-signed averaged 30.5 years old, the highest figure in the league. Yes, the Raiders needed to spend money, but why chase declining players when two of their own building blocks -- Veldheer and Houston -- were headed out the door the minute free agency opened? Perhaps most importantly, the manner in which the Raiders navigated the process only reinforced their image ...
Grading all 32 teams after the first wave of free agency Arizona Cardinals: A- Jared Veldheer came at a fairly reasonable price for a potential long-term franchise left tackle. Karlos Dansby got away but he'll turn 33 this year and is being overpaid. They've also added plenty of depth for a team that didn't have a ton of money entering the new league year. Atlanta Falcons: A They wanted to bolster the trenches and they did exactly that with Tyson Jackson, Jon Asamoah and Paul Soliai. They've also yet to lose a single player. Baltimore Ravens: C Arthur Jones and Corey Graham are gone and they haven't signed anyone from the outside. Surprising considering they aren't in cap *** this year. Buffalo Bills: C+ Chris Williams and Corey Graham are quality signings, but losing Jairus Byrd holds them back. He was one of their three best players. Carolina Panthers: D+ *** they had so much momentum after a great 2013 season, but now they've had to wave goodbye to Steve Smith, Mike Mitchell and Captain Munnerlyn. W .. ...
Last thought, the worst move of the free agency ?? The OAK handling of Jared Veldheer. Awful. Will it force them to take Robinson? Idk
Free agents Justin Tuck and LaMarr Woodley are visiting the Raiders Wednesday. On Tuesday, Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie let his best offensive lineman (Jared Veldheer) walk, overpaid for Rodger Saffold, let reliable Rashad Jennings walk, let his best defender Lamarr Houston walk and re-signed injury-prone Darren McFadden. So how will he spend the rest of his money? Perhaps on two aging, declining edge rushers in search of a payday. Tuck, who will turn 31 later this month, looked done prior to his 9.5-sack outburst over the final six games of last year. Woodley, 29, has missed 14 games over the last three seasons. Tjp
Tuck and TT in Oakland for a visit - now we can say bye to Tuck and I will be happy, cause NOBODY plays for Oakland (sorry Tom) unless it's JUST for the money. TT I can understand - dude has had 3 ACL's.THREE. Get as much as you can TT - don't blame you. But Tuck? You now see that this fool CAN play...when he decides to. Last year, he turned it on for a paycheck - two previous years he quit on the Giants. Let him rot in Oakland. Speaking of - sign a guard to a silly contract, to play left tackle - Roger Safford, but lose Jared Veldheer (key signing by the Cards) and lose stud Lamarr Houston. Loving it, watching the Broncos having to buy it now, for Manning, and taking another key player from the Patriots. :D Ware checking into Denver - as is Giants MLB Beason. Denver is going for it. Jets interested in Maurice Jones Drew. Dansby at that age and THAT money? - sure, played great in Arizona, but Cleveland got a guy that a system made, a lot of stats from that - and also made it hard for the Giants to fill a ...

Walter Football.com's grade for the Howard deal: "Raiders sign OT Austin Howard (5 years, $30M; $15M guaranteed): C- Grade Reggie McKenzie... why? What are you doing, Reggie? Why are you throwing tons of money at a right tackle when right tackles, as we've seen, are a dime-a-dozen? Why didn't you just franchise Jared Veldheer? Why haven't you noticed that you just gave Austin Howard nearly as much guaranteed money as Jason Peters received from the Eagles ($19 million)? I like this move better than the Rodger Saffold acquisition, which was just awful, but it still deserves a poor grade. Howard will provide an upgrade at right tackle, but there's no question that Oakland has overpaid for his services."
reports Cardinals agree w/ Jared Veldheer on a five year deal for 35M.
Those Raider fans that want to Blame AL Davis for the past 10 years are wrong he had us go 8-8 two years in a row and we have digressed since then. McKenzie allowed Lamar Houston, Jared Veldheer, and Rashad Jennings to walk while signing Darren McFadden are you Fkidding me. Over the last few years I've been angry with the stupidity that goes on with this team but today really takes the cake the most mind boggling part about today is the Cardinals signed Veldheer $35 mil for 5 years the Raiders signed Saffold $42.5 mil for 5 year *** !

Armed with the most cap space in NFL history, the Raiders whiffed on day on of writes
Raiders lose Jared Veldheer to the Cardinals, add Rodger Saffold from the Rams and Austin Howard from the Jets to the O-Line. Kinda wish they had kept Veldheer and added both these guys. Then Saffold could have moved inside to guard to replace the awful Lucas Nix and we'd have two bookend offensive tackles.

The Oakland Raiders made their first signing early on day one of the 2014 NFL Free Agency period, but it was not one that many of the fans were very excited about. As expected, former Oakland Raiders left tackle Jared Veldheer has landed with the Arizona Cardinals. Ian Rapoport is reporting Veldheer signed a five-year, $37.5 million contract.
More NFL offseason: Mock Drafts Pro Days | Top free agents There is nothing that gets us in trouble more than doing immediate grades on trades, draft picks and free-agent signings. But I love doing them because they stir the pot. So here are some early free-agent grades: DE Michael Johnson to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers: I like Johnson a lot. He is a tough, hard-nosed player who plays the run and can get pressure on the quarterback. Tampa Bay needed that outside pressure to go with Gerald McCoy inside. But Johnson had only 3 1/2 sacks last season. Yes, he still racked up some pressures, but $8.5 million is a lot of money for him. Even so, I like this signing. I like young -- he's 27 -- players with a lot of good football left in their bodies. Grade: A- T Jared Veldheer to the Arizona Cardinals: I like this move. The Cardinals have had left tackle problems for a long time. This fixes it. I always thought Veldheer was underrated with Oakland. He isn't a great player, but he's a good enough left tackle to prot ...
Oakland lost Jared Veldheer to Arizona, lost sold young defensive end Lamarr Houston to Chicago, and lost productive tailback Rashad Jennings to the New York Giants. We are left with McFader.
Jared Veldheer and Lamarr Houston are signing elsewhere, and their first signing in free agency is former St. Louis Rams offensive lineman Rodger Saffold. Saffold will sign a five-year deal with the Raiders. The contract is worth $42.5 million over five years with $21 million guaranteed. Houston signed with Bears for 5yrs. Veldherr to Cardinals also 5yrs.

I hope the Raiders front office with the staff in ir burns to the ground they let the franchise left tackle Jared Veldheer walk they resigned Darren McFadden and let Jennings go to the Giant the mind blowing thing is Arizona signed Veldheer 5 years for 35 mil the Raiders signed Rodger Saffold for 42.5 for 5 yrs is any of this making any sense to anybody. 😔
So I'm sure you have all heard by now. Reggie McKenzie has done the exact opposite of what he was expected to do. Words cannot express how angry I am over the matter. Here's how everything went. Jared Veldheer leaves for Arizona. Lamarr Houston leaves for the Bears. Roger Saffold signs a 5-yr, $42 million deal (?). Rashad Jennings leaves for the Giants. Yet . (Ready for this one???) Darren McFadden signs a 1-yr, $4 million deal! (Here's to injury problems again!!!) Darrelle Revis was in talks, but those ended shortly after. Talks are in play with Eric Decker. So what have we learned? That Reggie is incompetent. I congratulate the other 32 teams in the NFL, as I know they had a much better day than their laughing stock did (that would be us). My only hope is that Reggie will be losing his job by the end of the season, since he has caused us grief since the moment he arrived in Oakland, though I don't even think we're competent enough to fire him.

Jared Veldheer, Anthony Collins, Michael Oher, Eugene Monroe, Brendan Albert the best of the free agent left tackles
Just my thoughts for this offseason, we need to resign Charles Woodson, Jared Veldheer, Pat Sims, Lamar Houston, Kaelin Burnett, Phillip Adams, & Reshard Jennings, unfortunately DMC will have to walk. I would like to see us sign Maurice Jones-Drew. Those two would put some dynamite in our backfield. Picking up a veteran WR or two could do amazing things for us. Jeremy Maclin, Eric Decker, James Jones, Jacoby Jones any of these guys would be helpful. I believe signing Alex Mack would help out our O-line greatly. That would put Veldheer, Wiznewski, and Mack all side by side. We would have to address the right side of the O-Line in the draft but I like that change in our Line. It would be AMAZING to land Greg Hardy from Carolina but I don't see that happening. But on the other hand Jared Allen is a possibility. With us in contract talks with L. Houston, signing Allen would be huge. We need some depth at all 3 LB positions I like Vincent Rey from Cincy and Brandon Spikes from NE again something we might addre ...

Here is your Top 25 Free Agents once this season ends. As you can see Jay Cutler is the only QB in the Top 25. The irony behind that is there is only 2 QB's in the Top 50 FA's. Who's the other QB you ask, Josh McCown(48th) is the other QB in the Top 50 FA's. Bears fans would say let Cutler go and resign McCown. However, here's a little to chew on if your a Bears fan. McCown is 35 and Cutler is 31 which means you must ask yourself," Do we play for now or the future". I say draft a QB or trade for a younger QB. But only this off season will tell. 1. Oakland Raiders plan for return of Jared Veldheer - San Jose Mercury News
Jared Veldheer working at left tackle, with Khalif Barnes sliding over to left guard.
Do you think Raiders should franchise tag Lamarr Houston or Jared Veldheer to keep them on the roster next year??
for raider fans... ALAMEDA, Calif. – Three Oakland Raiders players entering their contract years with the team have already been signed to extensions, and Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said Wednesday he has reached out to the agents left tackle Jared Veldheer and defensive end Lamarr Houston. “Make no bones about it, we want to sign as many of our good players as we can,” McKenzie said. “With the cap is the way it is this year, we won’t have a chance to do a whole lot with big-money guys like those two guys. It’d be highly unlikely we could do two, but at least we’re in a situation next year to retain some of our high-dollar guys.” Veldheer is on the partial-season injured reserve list after undergoing surgery on a torn left triceps during the preseason. He has not had any setbacks and has yet to perform football-related activities, though he is a constant observer at practice. McKenzie, who held a half-hour roundtable meeting with seven Bay Area-based reporters, signed long-snap ...
Watson, Ausberry ruled out by Raiders By Paul Gutierrez As expected, left tackle Menelik Watson (knee) and tight end David Ausberry (shoulder) were both ruled out of the Raiders’ season opener Sunday at Indianapolis. Watson, the rookie who was making the conversion to the left side, injured a knee in practice on Wednesday and has not practiced since. Ausberry has been sidelined since the end of camp. Rookie strongside linebacker Sio Moore (foot) was listed as questionable. With Watson out, Khalif Barnes will slide over from right tackle to protect the quarterback’s blind side at left tackle, and Tony Pashos, who was signed on Monday, will start at right tackle. Barnes and Pashos once played together in that alignment in Jacksonville. But with Watson and Jared Veldheer (left triceps) out, the Raiders have only two healthy tackles in Barnes and Pashos. As such, Oakland has to make a roster move to add another tackle -- perhaps signing Matt McCants off the practice squad -- and make room for said tackle, ...
I was thinking Lamar Houston or Jared Veldheer, but I think I'll just buy a TB Howie Long or a Jim Plunkett. Play it safe.
