America’s Muslim in chief Posted on January 14, 2015 by John Myers Views: 24,259 10.4K Shares President Barack Obama talks on the phone with President Beji Caid Essebsi of Tunisia during a foreign leader call in the Oval Office, Jan. 5, 2015. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza) President Barack Obama wants *** to come out of the closet. I think it is time for him to come out of the closet as a Muslim. Point in fact: In the wake of the Paris slaughter that took place last week at Charlie Hebdo, the President’s mouthpieces have already busied themselves in explaining away any connection between that act and the peace-loving followers of Islam. It makes sense given that the Obama administration called out Charlie Hebdo in 2012 for publishing cartoons satirizing Islam. Then-White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters: “Well, we are aware that a French magazine published cartoons featuring a figure resembling the Prophet Muhammad, and obviously, we have questions about the judgment of p ...
The Holy Prophet triumphed with good conduct, not with sword – Sheikh Ibraheem ZakzakyBy Ibrahim UsmanAt the grand celebration of birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Maulud Nabiy)ceremony in Zaria, Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria His Eminence SheikhIbraheem Yaqoub Zakzaky has debunked the wrong perception that Islam triumphed with sword. His Eminence further explained that, Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) fought imposed wars by enemies of Islam, to the extent that he was driven out of Makkah to Medina. “Even while in exile, he was notleft alone, yet he continued to exhibit goodconduct which won hearts of many peopleto Islam”.He added that, when the Holy Prophet eventually got an upper hand over his enemies, he pardoned and spared their lives, which led to some of them embracing Islam.Sheikh Zakzaky pointed out that, for one to attribute violence to Islam is ridiculing the religion. “The Holy Prophet, a perfect man, established a perfect society based on the supremacy of the rules of Allah. Average Mohamed counters terror message with cartoon videos By JEFF BAENEN (AP) In the war for young people's hearts and minds, Mohamed Ahmed hopes to use cartoons to dissuade a generation raised on "The Simpsons" and "South Park" from taking up arms for the Islamic State group and other extremist causes. Ahmed, a Convenience Store manager from Minneapolis, has launched AverageMohamed.com, a website offering homemade videos aimed at countering the messages and images terrorists use to lure disaffected youths into holy war. "I don't want my children fighting this war. Let's end this in my generation," said Ahmed, a married father of four young children. Sitting in his sparsely furnished recording studio, Ahmed, 39, said he started his videos out of frustration. "I've decided to take on one value at a time, one item at a time, to shoot down extremist ideology and philosophy," he said. He took the moniker "Average Mohamed" because of the worldwide popularity among Muslims of the Prophet Muhammad's name. Ahme ...
Are Muslims Duty-Bound to establish an Islamic State according to Islam? * There are some Muslim scholars who think that each and every Muslim has been asked by Islam to strive to establish an Islamic state in case Islam does not reign supreme in the country he is living in. It needs to be appreciated that Muslims are not required by their religion to fulfil any such obligation. Some religious scholars do present the example of the Prophet Muhammad (sws) and say that since he had established an Islamic state in Arabia, Muslims, wherever they are, should follow his example. In this regard, it is submitted that neither did the Prophet (sws) ever undertake the task of establishing an Islamic state nor was he ever directed by the Almighty to do so. The Prophet (sws) was a messenger of God. He was not politician nor was his aim was to establish any Political authority in the land. Messengers and the Prophets of God are sent to clarify what is the truth and differentiate it from the falsehood. Good becomes evid ...
The mosque’s management is accused of “promoting ISIL values and encouraging young Muslims in the city to travel to Syria and Iraq, and join the ranks of the group, along with Al-Nusra Front.” Egyptian Human Rights Activist Ahmad Harqan recently said that the Islamic State and Boko Haram are following the Qur’an doing “what the Prophet Muhammad and his companions did.” If he is even partially correct, German authorities have a much larger problem on their hands than just this one mosque. But anyway, how is it that no one in the mosque ever stood up and said, “Now wait a minute, fellas. You’re missing all the peaceful and tolerant teachings of the Qur’an, and hijacking one of the world’s great religions”? “Mosque in Germany found spreading ISIL ideology closed by police,” KUNA, December 5, 2014 (thanks to David): BERLIN, Dec 5 (KUNA) — German authorities have closed a mosque in the no ...
Ali Ibn Abi Talib [RA] was Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]'s first cousin and one of the early people who believed in Islam. He was born in Makkah, on March 17, 599 or 600 CE. He embraced Islam while still a boy of ten and is known to be the first child to accept Islam. He grew up in the Prophet's household. The Prophet's influence was apparent in his characteristics. He led a humble life till his last moments. The Prophet loved him very dearly and took him as his brother in Islam. He praised him on many occasions as being the "Lion of Allah" (after Hamza ibn Abi Talib [RA]). He was one of the most heroic companions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was known to be brave and courageous in every battle he fought for the support of the cause of Islam. He later became the Prophet's son-in-law by marrying his fourth daughter Fatimah [RA]. He was the fourth Khalif of Islam and one of what Muslims regard as "the rightly guided Khalifs" of Islam. Ali [RA] grew up in the household of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] bec ...
ABUBAKR (RA) THE FIRST KHALIFAH. "If I were to take a friend other than my Lord, I would take Abu Bakr as a friend." (Hadith) Election to the Caliphate The Prophet's closest Companion, Abu Bakr, was not present when the Holy Prophet (peace be on him) breathed his last in the apartment of his beloved wife of later years, Aisha, Abu Bakr's daughter. When he came to know of the Prophet's passing, Abu Bakr hurried to the house of sorrow. "How blessed was your life and how beatific is your death," he whispered as he kissed the cheek of his beloved friend and master who now was no more. When Abu Bakr came out of the Prophet's apartment and broke the news, disbelief and dismay gripped the community of Muslims in Madina. Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) had been the leader, the guide and the bearer of Divine revelation through whom they had been brought from idolatry and barbarism into the way of God. How could he die? Even Umar, one of the bravest and strongest of the Prophet's Companions, lost his composure a ...
The Caliphate Fantasy, by Khaled Diab (NYT) The jihadist insurgent group ISIS, or as it now prefers to be called, the Islamic State, appears well on the road to achieving its stated goal: the restoration of the caliphate. The concept, which refers to an Islamic state presided over by a leader with both political and religious authority, dates from the various Muslim empires that followed the time of the Prophet Muhammad. From the seventh century onward, the caliph was, literally, his “successor.” The problem with this new caliphate, which, an ISIS spokesman claimed on Sunday, had been established under Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, an Islamist militant leader since the early days of the American occupation of Iraq, is that it is ahistorical, to say the least. The Abbasid caliphate, for example, which ruled from 750 to 1258, was an impressively dynamic and diverse empire. Centered in Baghdad, just down the road from where ISIS is occupying large areas of Iraq, the Abbasid caliphate was centuries ahead of Mr. B ...
THERE ARE MIXED OPINIONS BY WESTERN POLITICAL ANALYSIS’S AS TO WHAT ISIS’S CALIPHATE MEANS. We are warned that trying to understand it from a Western view using the political science of the Western mind, which was created to understand the national state in the Western society, will not help us understand what is going on there. When the jihadists within the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) declared a caliphate, or new Islamic state, covering a large swath of territory in the two countries, they were reintroducing a political and theological concept that dates back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad. What is a caliphate? ISIS commander Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, shown here in a U.S. State Department wanted poster, has renamed himself Caliph Ibrahim of the new Islamic State and called on Muslims worldwide to swear loyalty to him. (Reuters) A caliphate, from the word "succession" in Arabic, is an Islamic state that has its roots in the seventh century immediately after the death of Muhammad. He was .. ...
When BanglaDesh was liberated it was declared as a Secular state where all religions will have equal rights. Then Sheikh Muzibur Rehman was assassinated and someone else took the reign. It always happens in Muslim dominated societies. Their hunger for power and sex is insatiable. They draw their inspiration from Prophet Muhammad whose urge for power and sex was unmatched if you happen to read his biographies. And for these two qualities he is respected. Therefore it is natural that everyone down the line is eager to copy him. After all, his acts were documented in HadIs and became Sunna, the Islamic Law to be practiced till eternity. So you see that it does not take very long to convert a Secular state into an Islamic state if you have majority population of the Muslims. Even when they stand at the brink of majority, not yet having attained majority but quite close to it, they do not take long to turn it into a majority by use of conversion through violence or duress. BhaaratVarsh is currently a Secular s ...
The Muslims in Malaysia should note that when Prophet Muhammad was preaching Islam in the Medina , he also drafted the political constitution of Medina. The Jews and Christains then were not compelled politically to submit to Islam Hudud Law. The Jews and Christians could continue to use their own laws in the Islamic State of the Arabs and had their own judges . The Quran and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad reveal that Prophet Muhamamd preached about racial equality, justice and non-discrimination. I am not surprised that Islamic civilization of Medina supported the polity of racial equality and multi-culturalism as all multiple forms of diversity are the creatures or self-manifestations of the Creator God. In Buddhist Mahayana Buddhism, the self-manifestations of God are parallel to the self-manifestations of Buddha-nature in the world .The divergent multiplicity of Muslims and non-Muslim cultures including the Jewish and Christian Cultures incorporating the Greek and Roman cultures as well . Even the ...
Rise of Islamophobia – Real or Imaginary? Who is Behind It? Opposition to Islam is as old as Islam itself. Whenever a Prophet or Messenger came to a nation inviting to the worship of Allah and His obedience, there was always a group of people (generally the elite of the society) who would oppose them. This opposition to the Prophets and Messengers was rooted in pride, arrogance, racism, tradition and a lack of thinking. It was rarely the case that the cause of this opposition was ignorance or misunderstanding of the message. The Prophets and Messengers of Allah made the utmost effort to convey the message of Islam plainly and clearly to the people. Today too Islam continues to be attacked and Muslims the world over are experiencing opposition in various forms. In Europe we have seen the banning of niqab as well as headscarves in public institutions; the activities of the English Defence League in the UK; the media's disrespect of the Prophet Muhammad, sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam and more. In Asia, there ...
"So now when I am talking about this Islamic state I am saying that we don't know about its future, it could expand or it could be crushed. However, the declaration of it in it self, is an important event. And many Muslims unfortunately are not aware, of the importance of this event, whether it succeeds or not, it represents a move of the idea, from the theoretical realm to the real world. The idea of establishing the Islamic rule and establishing Khilafah on earth, now is not any more a talk, it is action! And it is a reflection of the fact that this time, the Mujahideen are not going to do the work and fight the fight only to let some one else bear the fruit of their effort. But that their intention is not only to drive out the invaders from their lands just to have a hypocrite filled in his place, but they posses, a project of an Islamic state followed by the return of the system of Khilafah! Brothers and sisters, we are inching forward to the final stage of the hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace and bl ...
Stories of Muslim - Christian relations .In the year 631, Prophet Muhammad received a delegation of sixty Christians from Najran in the Prophet’s mosque in Medinah, allowed them to pray in the mosque, and concluded the “covenant to the Christians of Najran” treaty which granted them religious and administrative autonomy as citizens of the Islamic State. In 637, Islamic Caliph Omar ibn al – Khattab granted the similar “Covenant of Omar” to the Patriarch of Jerusalem Sophronius. Stories of Christian - Muslim relations...When the Messenger of God began to declare his message openly, the Makkan pagans started to severely oppose him and the new Muslims, making many problems for them. Several Muslims died, with even more being humiliated and alienated. The Prophet realized that Makka was becoming a difficult place for Muslims to live in. He had his uncle as his protector; but there were many Muslims who had no protection from the aggressions of the Makkan pagans. He decided to send some of them to A ...

Will Muslim society be secularized, and constitutional democracy finally established in the Muslim world? Or, will destiny witness the restoration of the Islamic model of a State (Khilafat)?   Before we attempt to answer that absolutely fascinating question which will eventually emerge at the very heart of political discourse in contemporary international affairs, let us briefly describe the Khilafat or the (Sunni) Islamic model of polity and State.     It would surely surprise some of our readers to learn that Islam has never claimed to be a new religion. Rather it has consistently proclaimed that it is the original religion of Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, and Jesus (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all). It was therefore natural that Prophet Muhammad (s) should have preserved in the Islamic State of Madina the essential model of a polity and State that was established by the Prophet-Kings, David (s) and Solomon (s) in the Holy State of Israel. What was that model?   Firstly, political cu ...
Prophet Joseph This is the most detailed and fascinating story in the Quran, involving both human weaknesses such as jealousy, hatred, pride, passion, deception, intrigue, cruelty, and terror as well as noble qualities such as patience, loyalty, bravery, nobility, and compassion. It is related that among the reasons for its revelation is that the Jews asked the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to tell them about Joseph (pbuh) who was one of their old prophets. His story had been distorted in parts and marred in others with interpolation and exclusions. Therefore it was revealed in the Book of Allah (Quran), complete in its minute and careful details. Allah the Almighty declared: We relate unto you (Muhammad) the best of stories through Our Revelations unto you, of this Quran. And before this (i.e. before the coming of Divine Inspiration to you), you were among those who knew nothing about it (the Quran). ( Ch 12:3 Quran) Almighty Allah also decreed: thus We relate to you (O Muhammad) some information of what happe ...
Human Right in Islam!!! Islam provides many human rights for the individual. The following are some of these human rights that Islam protects. The life and property of all citizens in an Islamic state are considered sacred, whether a person is Muslim or not. Islam also protects honor. So, in Islam, insulting others or making fun of them is not allowed. The Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, said: “ Truly your blood, your property, and your honor are inviolable.” [1]Racism is not allowed in Islam, for the Quran speaks of human equality in the following terms: “O mankind, We have created you from a male and a female and have made you into nations and tribes for you to know one another. Truly, the noblest of you with God is the most pious. [2] Truly, God is All-Knowing, All-Aware.” (Quran 49:13) Islam rejects certain individuals or nations being favored because of their wealth, power, or race. God created human beings as equals who are to be distinguished from each ...
