Islamic State & Al Qaeda

An Islamic state is a type of government, in which the primary basis for government is Islamic religious law. al-Qaeda (', translation: The Base and alternatively spelled al-Qaida and sometimes al-Qa'ida) is a global militant Islamist organization founded by Osama Bin Laden sometime between August 1988 and late 1989. “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” – Article Three, Section Three, U.S. Constitution. Given the fact that one of the suspects, Said Kouachi, in the Paris killings had traveled to Yemen in 2011 and that Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has claimed responsibility for the killings, does it strike anyone as strange that Obama set free five Yemeni detainees out of Guantanomo Bay? Four were sent to Oman, a nation that neighbors Yemen. A fifth was transferred to Estonia. It was the first time either nation had accepted Gitmo prisoners for resettlement. Does anyone think that the five Afghan Taliban leaders Obama set free last year are still in Qatar? Among the things Obama will be remembered for will be his promise to close Gitmo and these releases of U.S. enemies. The War on Terrorism is Terrorism How the US Helped Create Al Qaeda and ISIS By Garikai Chengu "ICH" - "Counterpunch" - Much like Al Qaeda, the Islamic State (ISIS) is made-in-the-USA, an instrument of terror designed to divide and conquer the oil-rich Middle East and to counter Iran’s growing influence in the region. The fact that the United States has a long and torrid history of backing terrorist groups will surprise only those who watch the news and ignore history. The CIA first aligned itself with extremist Islam during the Cold War era. Back then, America saw the world in rather simple terms: on one side, the Soviet Union and Third World nationalism, which America regarded as a Soviet tool; on the other side, Western nations and militant political Islam, which America considered an ally in the struggle against the Soviet Union. The director of the National Security Agency under Ronald Reagan, General William Odom recently remarked, “by any measure the U.S. has long used terrorism. In 1978-79 th ...

France, as part of a NATO-led coalition, has been arming, funding, aiding, and otherwise perpetuating Al Qaeda terrorists for years, beginning, on record in Libya with the overthrow of Libyan Dictator Muammar Gaddafi and continuing until today with NATO's arming, harboring, and backing of Al Qaeda terrorists including the so-called "Islamic State" (ISIS) within and along Syria's borders. With the recent attack in Paris likely the work of the very terrorists France has been arming and backing across North Africa and the Middle East, the French government itself stands responsible, guilty of the continued material support of a terrorist organization that has now killed French citizens, including two police officers, not only on French soil, but within the French capital itself. Why Did Lt. Col. Ralph Peters Just Call Hillary Clinton ‘Demented’? December 9, 2014 By Matthew Burke Hillary Clinton Ralph Peters Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, appearing on FOX News with Sean Hannity on Monday, had stern criticism for 2016 Democrat presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, who recently said that America needed to learn how to respect and empathize with our enemies, calling her “demented” and “not fit” to be president. While simultaneously condemning the still Democrat-controlled Senate Intelligence Report on torture, which Peters believes will provide aid and comfort to America’s enemies and put American lives at risk, he lambasted Hillary Clinton’s words of appeasement “And then you’ve got Hillary Clinton, my God, saying we’ve got to learn to respect our enemies, to empathize with them. The Union home minister pointed out, “Though ISIS was born in Syria and Iraq, it is a fact that the Indian subcontinent is not outside its radar, especially as some Indian youth are also getting attracted to it.” He said, “Moreover, the Al Qaeda had recently announced the formation of a new outfit, Qaeda-ul-Jihadi, with the intention of specifically targeting Gujarat, Assam, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir and Bangladesh.” He said, “India cannot remain unaffected by international terrorism, (and the) activities of the Islamic State. Why ISIS is spreading across Muslim world By Peter Bergen and Emily Schneider November 19, 2014 -- Updated 2011 GMT (0411 HKT) (CNN) -- In the many media stories about the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, much of the focus has rightly been on the thousands of foreign fighters ISIS has attracted, its brutal tactics and its robust social media presence. But an arguably even more important development has not received the attention it deserves: the group's widening influence across the Muslim world, driven by the numerous terrorist and insurgent organizations that have recently sworn loyalty to it. Peter Bergen Peter Bergen In the past six months, ISIS has drawn into its fold some dozen groups from Algeria to Pakistan. Al Qaeda, in contrast, had been in existence for a decade before it recruited its first affiliate, Egypt's Jihad Group, in 1998. And, in its 2½-decade existence, al Qaeda has only manged to add some half dozen affiliates, one of which was al Qaeda in Iraq, the parent organization of ISIS that ...

Islamic terrorists have entered the United States through the Mexican border and Homeland Security sources tell Judicial Watch that four have been apprehended in the last 36 hours by federal authorities and the Texas Department of Public Safety in McAllen and Pharr. JW confirmed this after California Congressman Duncan Hunter, a former Marine Corp Major and member of the House Armed Services Committee, disclosed on national television that at least ten Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) fighters have been caught crossing the Mexican border in Texas. The veteran lawmaker got the astounding intel straight from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Homeland Security agency responsible for guarding the 1,933-mile southern border. “If you really want to protect Americans from ISIS, you secure the southern border,” Hunter proclaimed on a national cable news show this week. “It’s that simple. In brief: Revival of al-Qaeda offshoots and rise of the Islamic State
FORT STEWART, Ga. — A force of approximately 25,000 advisers from the U.S. Army’s 3rd Adviser Division is heading to Iraq to not participate in direct ground combat of any kind, the Pentagon announced Thursday. “Make no mistake, we are in full-on advisement against ISIL in the same way we continue to advise countries against al Qaeda and its affiliates,” Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said at a press conference, using an acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. While noting the division was comprised mostly of combat troops from its former unit name of 3rd Infantry Division, Kirby cautioned that using this re-structured unit would not lead to advisement-creep. “It’s made up of three Brigade Advisor Teams (BAT). Among these are a mixture of various adviser types including Infantry Advisers, Armor Advisers, Artillery Advisers and Attack Aviation Advisers,” Kirby said. Sources confirmed the new unit was formed after Pentagon leaders realized direct ground combat and trying ...

So it's a toss up - Is the current Administration more funny or more sad (read as scary). Where should I begin? Let me begin with a report coming out that the U.S. has under estimated the strength and reach of ISIS/ISIL. Again airing out dirty laundry in public, Mr. Obama came out and said that the U.S. Intelligence agencies severely under estimated the Islamic State and it's grip on that part of the world. This is the same group that the President call the "JV team", as in Junior Varsity, as in second string, as in not as strong or worrisome as Al Qaeda. Can you say laughing stock? After hearing the above, a former Pentagon official blasted the President , saying that he was" flabbergasted that the president would blame the intelligence community". But nearly eight months ago, some of President Obama’s senior intelligence officials were already warning that ISIS was on the move. In the beginning of 2014, ISIS fighters had defeated Iraqi forces in Fallujah, leading much of the U.S. intelligence communi ...

Bashar al-Assad failed to wipe out terror havens: US defends Syria airstrikes in letter to UN chief: The United States told the United Nations on Tuesday it led airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Syria because President Bashar al-Assad's government had failed to wipe out safe havens used by the group to launch attacks on Iraq. In a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power wrote, "The Syrian regime has shown that it cannot and will not confront these safe havens effectively itself." The strikes were needed to eliminate a threat to Iraq, the United States and its allies, she wrote, citing Article 51 of the UN Charter, which covers an individual or collective right to self-defense against armed attack. "States must be able to defend themselves... when, as is the case here, the government of the state where the threat is located is unwilling or unable to prevent the use of its territory for such attacks," Power wrote in the letter obtained by Re ...
WASHINGTON — American forces took advantage of the airstrikes against the Islamic State extremist group in Syria to try to simultaneously wipe out the leadership of an unrelated cell of veterans of Al Qaeda that the White House said Tuesday was plotting an “imminent” attack against the United States or Europe. The barrage of bombs and missiles launched into Syria early Tuesday was aimed primarily at crippling the Islamic State, the formidable Sunni organization that has seized a large piece of territory to form its own radical enclave. But the blitz also targeted a little-known network called Khorasan, in hopes of paralyzing it before it could carry out what American officials feared would be a terrorist attack in the West. American military and intelligence analysts were still studying damage reports from the initial air assault, but senior Obama administration officials expressed hope that they had killed Muhsin al-Fadhli, the leader of Khorasan and a onetime confidant of Osama Bin Laden. The offi ...

The U.S. and Arab allies bombed Syria, inflicting casualties on Islamic State fighters and members of a separate al Qaeda-linked group.
"Obama says the post-9/11 authority to attack al Qaeda gives him the authority to attack ISIS in Syria. There is absolutely NO CONNECTION between the Islamic State and the perpetrators of 9/11. The current war launched against Syria is illegal, unconstitutional and will only increase the dangers America faces." Ron Paul
The US and five Arab countries have been carrying out airstrikes against Islamic State targets in Syria for the first time. Fighter jets, bombers and drones as well as 47 Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from two US ships in the northern Persian Gulf and the Red Sea were deployed in the aerial raids. At least 70 IS fighters are said to have been killed in dozens of attacks, which also targeted al Qaeda veterans.
US began airstrikes on Syria last night in a campaign allegedly targeting the Islamic State. It's not clear how to restrict a bombing campaign against an amorphous network that stretches to Iraq and can potentially emerge anywhere i.e., drone strikes against Al Qaeda stretch from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, the Phillippines, to east Africa. This is to say nothing of mission creep within Syria itself. Than there's the question of end game: IS filled a power vacuum left as a result of the US invasion of Iraq in 2003- how does the bombing campaign fill that vacuum and prevent it from expanding throughout Syria? Where is the political work necessary to resolve the war in Syria or to restrict arms to IS or to prevent the movement of people eager to join its ranks? The US's alliance with five Arab countries also raises interesting questions about regional re/configurations and the forthright nature of using explicit force against a neighboring Arab country even if for the purpose of collective self-defense ag ...
Damaging Our Country from Wars of Choice By Ralph Nader The drums of war are beating once again with the vanguard of U.S. bombers already over Iraq (and soon Syria) to, in President Obama’s words, “degrade and destroy ISIS.” The Republican Party, led by war-at-any-cost Senators Lindsay Graham and John Mccain, wants a bigger military buildup which can only mean U.S. soldiers on the ground. Here they go again. Another result of Bush’s war in Iraq. Washington has already expended thousands of American lives, hundreds of thousands of American injuries and illnesses, and over a million Iraqi lives. The achievement: the slaying or capture of Al Qaeda leaders, but with that came the spread of Al Qaeda into a dozen countries and the emergence of a new Al Qaeda on steroids called the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) which has nominal control over an area in Syria and Iraq larger than the territory of Great Britain. Still, no lessons have been learned. We continue to attack countries and side with one ...

Seeking war powers, Obama now ties Islamic State to al Qaeda
Think on this if you will ... In recent weeks, the media are filled with reports on the international preparations for a war against the "Islamic State" and an International Conference was even convened in Paris in an attempt to enlist the cooperation of as many nations as possible in waging it. At the same time, US air force planes have intensified their attacks against "Islamic State" forces, especially in the vicinity of the dams in northern Iraq, this to prevent their being blown up and causing the deaths of many thousands of Iraqis. This week we heard a short and decisive speech by US President Barack Obama, into which he inserted rhetoric elements that he has hardly used before, certainly in comparison to the speeches of his predecessor George W. Bush. We have not heard all of Obama's speeches, but those we have, have rarely included the expression "our friends and allies". Bush used those words day and night when talking about the war against terror. Does this change in rhetoric express a change in ...

About 800 federal and State Police officers raided more than a dozen properties across 12 Sydney suburbs as part of the operation -- the largest in Australian history, Australian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner Andrew Colvin told the Associated Press. A sword was removed as part of evidence at one of the homes. Separate raids in the eastern cities of Brisbane and Logan were also conducted. Quick history lesson. Before IS (Islamic State), they called themselves ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant aka ISIS). Before ISIL, they called themselves ISI (Islamic State in Iraq). That was in 2006. They called themselves ISI, but we called them AIQ (al Qaeda in Iraq). Convenient that we're now calling them what they want to be called instead of calling them what we called them when we spent nearly 10 years fighting them. I guess as we rally for war, we don't want to remember how war worked out in the exact same country against the exact same group literally just a few years ago.
It's hilarious how Muslims who vocally support al-Qaeda, Taliban or/and Hamas are pretending to be disgusted by the Islamic State.
Obama: We will defeat the Islamic State like we did al-Qaeda
Debate The number one threat to global security according to the mainstream western media is IS (Islamic State). And yet let us consider this. Following the 9/11 attacks, George Bush made his infamous speech in which he stated 3 countries which America believed to be state sponsors of terrorism. Syria was one of them. A decade later, the Syrian regime faced angry protesters who wanted reform as well as economic improvement. Suddenly the situation changed to a civil war because according to western media, the regime callously crushed all protests and dissent. Pledges and assistance flooded into aid the rebels to topple the government. This has thus far not been successful. However, what has emerged from this conflict is the terrorist group IS which is said to be so cruel even Al Qaeda disowned them. Now what I want to know is the following: during the times of "peace" in the country - and others that have been afflicted with wars since the uprisings - what was the nature of threat to the regimes of these c ...
August 31, 2014 Obama’s no strategy IS his strategy Take that as a play on words if you wish but the point to be made is that President Obama’s “faux pas” at the Thursday press conference was no mistake. It’s all the rage to be outraged at the president’s evident dismissal of the advancing threat of ISIS, however there is purpose behind his stating “we don't have a strategy yet” for dealing with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. The fact that Obama insists on telegraphing his intention of delaying any decision only emboldens those who are looking to take the United States to task. Knowing that the president has refused to take any action regarding the border adds to the steady flow of people from Mexico, and, now we hear, from the north as well. And, this army of illegals includes violent offenders, terrorists and gang members who are biding their time while Obama threatens executive action that will give amnesty to at least 5 million individuals. Add to this the fact that ISIS now has ...

Satan has been unleashed in the world. Or, if you are an atheist or secular and uncomfortable with theological imagery: Dr. Frankenstein’s monster has escaped the laboratory and is rampaging across the landscape. The most recent atrocities committed by the Islamic State — notably, the beheading of an American journalist by an ISIS mujahid on video, as a warning to President Obama (see Fox News, CNN, and the Mail Online) — demonstrate that something unprecedented is at work in the Middle East. Not since the defeat of the Ottoman army in 1683 has barbarity of this magnitude gone unchecked in the region. Actually, you’d have to go back farther than 1683, or even 1453, to find comparable events. During its entire suzerainty over Mesopotamia, the Ottoman Empire did not engage in the systematic demolition of Shiite mosques. But that is exactly what ISIS is doing, even as it massacres and enslaves Christians and Yezidis. This is a moment of enormous historical import. The proclamation of a Caliphate by t ...

Bodies found north of Baghdad as Sunni insurgents turn on each other: BAGHDAD: Residents of a town north of Baghdad found 12 corpses with execution-style bullet wounds on Monday following fighting between rival Sunni insurgents that could eventually unravel a coalition which has seized much of northern and western Iraq. The incident points to an intensification of infighting between the Islamic State and other Sunni groups, such as supporters of former dictator Saddam Hussein, which rallied behind the al Qaeda offshoot last month because of shared hatred for the Shia-led Iraqi government.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul Paul "seems curiously blind" to the threat of the Islamic State, the Al Qaeda breakaway group that's taken over regions of Iraq and Syria.
“ISIS formally declares creation of caliphate known as "Islamic State":
Al Qaeda fighters declared a New Islamic State - Caliphate from Diyala in Iraq to Aleppo in Syria - the climax of terrorism.
Al Qaeda and jihadist groups must now definitively choose to support and join the Islamic State or to oppose it." |

What has happened to Iraq and the Iraqi People will be kept in history alongside the great human atrocities. It's up there with the Holocaust and the Armenian Genocide. The Gulf War had a tremendous amount of casualties, but it was the sanctions that followed which claimed 500 000 Iraqi children lives, as admitted by Bill Clinton's Secretary of State, Madeline Albright as "worth it". When George W Bush carried on the atrocity by invading Iraq in 2003, he created a civil war that led to the deaths of over a MILLION civilians. That number continues to rise until today. In the last week a Sunni uprising has taken great swaths of the country, leading the Kurdish militias to take over Iraqi Kurdistan. The bloodthirsty threats from the so called "Islamic State in Iraq" Al Qaeda group, has led to the Shi'ite Iraqis to take up arms and defend their respective regions. Iraq is well on it's way to being broken down into 3 autonomous regions at best, or 3 warring countries at worst. While Saddam Hussein was a ruthl ...
MJ Rosenberg Iraq Horrors And Who Is To Blame? (TIKKUN June 13, 2014) I've been listening to BBC live reports from Iraq and it is heart-breaking. Young people are calling in from Baghdad and telling of their terror at the possible arrival of forces from ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), Sunni fanatics who make the Taliban and Al Qaeda look civilized. (One thing Judaism, Islam. Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity have in common is that the most monstrous people adhering to each are invariably religious fanatics who distort the creed and use it as a pretext for hate, conquest and/or killing.) I don't know what the United States should do about Iraq although, God knows, we are responsible for the catastrophe. It was the U.S. invasion, followed by the installation of the current corrupt and sectarian (Shi'ite) government that laid the groundwork for what may be the establishment of a terrorist regime in much of Iraq, along with the final fragmenting of the country. Add to that that the U.S. is now in a ...

3000 Syrian Christians flee Armenian village as Islamist rebels take control Reports of desecrated churches, looted houses: locals blame Turkish complicity An Armenian* Syrian pastor, whose family is from Kessab, close to Syria’s northern border with Turkey, has reported that they have fled the village after Syrian rebel jihadists took control of the area. The fighting in the predominantly Armenian Christian town started Friday March 21st. World Watch Monitor has seen a letter in which he said fighters of the Al-Nusra Front and ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Sham - greater Syria) entered North West Syria from Turkey and progressively took control over the town the same day. Kessab is about 10Km from the Mediterranean, and the most northern Syrian town near the coast. The Armenian pastor writes that the day after the Al Qaeda-linked fighters took control, most of the town’s population (some 650 families, over 3000 individuals), fled into the hills or had taken refuge in the coastal city of Latakia, a ...

U.S. uses fake "Al Qaeda" leader in Iraq Yet more evidence that the "war in Iraq" is nothing more than a perception management campaign designed to justify a continued U.S. military occupation of the country has surfaced in regard to a supposed "Al Qaeda"-affiliated "Islamic State in Iraq" leader named Abdullah Rashid al-Baghdadi. In May, Iraqi government officials claimed al-Baghdadi had been killed in an attack. Other reports said the guerrilla leader had escaped unharmed. The International Herald Tribune reported yesterday that al-Baghdadi never existed. Brig. Gen. Kevin Bergner, a National Security Council official who was sent to Iraq to oversee the Bush administration's "Wag the Dog"-inspired perception management propaganda campaign, said that al-Baghdadi was a fictional character invented by the rebels to dub audio tapes. Bergner said al-Baghdadi was actually an elderly Iraqi actor named Abu Abdulla al-Naima. From the con artist named "Curveball" to "Iraqi WMDs" and Saddam being found in a spider ...
