France promises "war on Islamic extremism." Great! So I imagine their first priority will be to round up all the collaborators who helped arm and fund Al Qaeda over the past several years, including Sarkozy and Fabius who literally handed the entire country of Libya over to the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) and Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). Hollande is probably looking at some serious jail time for his backing of the so-called "Free Syrian Army," a euphemism for laundering cash and weapons into Al Qaeda's hands. After that, they will probably smash the terror pipeline leading from NATO, through Turkey, and into Syria. Then they will restore ties to Damascus and offer aid in finally restoring order across the country. Should we hold our breath? How much do you want to bet "war on Islamic extremism" instead means, using it as an excuse to continue doing exactly what caused this problem in the first place, you know, like how the US used 9/11?

THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEAugust 6, 2014 FACT SHEET: Partnering to Counter Terrorism in Africa As the 1998 bombings of the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania underscored, Africa-based terrorists threaten the interests of the United States in addition to those of our African partners. The United States government has no higher priority than protecting U.S. citizens from attack by terrorists and violent extremists. But our efforts at countering terrorism in Africa are motivated as well by a recognition that extremist groups are tearing apart communities in many parts of the continent, robbing young people of their futures, constraining economic growth, and denying people the opportunity to reach their full potential. Boko Haram (usually translated as "Western education is a sin"), is a militant Islamist organization based in Northern Nigeria , influenced by the Wahhabi movement. [2][3][4][5] Founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002, [6] the organization seeks to establish an Islamic state in Nigeria. [7][8] The group was designated by the U.S. Department of State as a terrorist organisation in 2013. The United States posted $18 million in rewards Friday for the capture of four African militants involved in the kidnapping of foreigners and attacks on Western targets. Some $5 million each was offered for a former member of Nigeria’s Boko Haram and two founding leaders of the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO) based in the Maghreb region. A fourth reward of $3 million was set for an Egyptian extremist who has plotted against the US, the State Department said. Khalid al-Barnawi was named as a leader of the Nigeria-based group known as Ansaru that split from Boko Haram in early 2012, the agency’s Rewards for Justice program said in a statement. The group has close ties to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and was behind the kidnapping of seven foreigners in a raid on a construction site in restive Northern Nigeria in February 2013. The seven from Britain, Greece, Lebanon and Italy were later executed by their captors. Barnawi also reportedly helped plan the May 2011 kidnapping by Ansa ...

Afro News 2014 June 6 Sectarian clashes kill 21 in Central African Republic Violence in Central African Republic pitting Muslim fighters against Christian civilians has killed 21 people so far this week, including two who were publicly executed in front of a courthouse, witnesses said Wednesday. The latest clashes erupted after villagers in Liwa, located 10 kilometers outside of the central town of Bambari, killed two Muslim men on a motorcycle on Monday, residents said. In response, fighters descended on both Liwa and Bambari, throwing grenades and burning more than 100 houses, said Bambari resident Nono Azoundja. After taking four people hostage, the fighters quickly executed two of them in front of the Bambari courthouse, which Seleka leaders have been using as a headquarters, Azoundja said. French and African forces had arrived in Liwa to restore calm and conduct an investigation, he said. The consequences of the U.S. war on terrorism in Africa The American military’s expansion to the continent poses significant challenges to democratization and domestic security June 2, 2014 12:45AM ET by Ken Opalo May 5, President Barack Obama hosted his Djiboutian counterpart, Ismail Omar Guelleh, at the White House. The two leaders signed a 20-year lease agreement for the Djibouti-based Camp Lemonnier, the biggest U.S. military base in Africa. Covering 500 acres, the installation is a crucial launching site for U.S. military operations against militant groups in the Horn of Africa and Yemen. The U.S. agreed to pay an annual fee of $70 million for the site, which now hosts more than 4,000 U.S. military personnel and civilians. The base is a key part of Pentagon’s plans “to maximize the impact of a relatively small U.S. presence in Africa,” according to the 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review, a congressional panel that conducts assessments of U.S. defense strategy and priorities. DEMOCRACY GIFT FROM ISLAMIC SECT Boko Haram. The United Nations decided late last week to add Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram to its list of terrorist organizations formally recognized as being associated with Al Qaeda. The UN said in its statement that Boko Haram—whose name loosely translates to “Western education is a sin”—has “maintained a relationship with the Organization of Al-Qaida [sic] in the Islamic Maghreb for training and material support purposes.” Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan has been referring to the group as a terrorist organization since last year and arresting members accordingly. But his country’s battles with Islamism have been launched onto the international stage since Boko Haram abducted hundreds of schoolgirls last month. This has put Nigeria on the map in a way Jonathan would have done best to avoid. It has also put Nigeria on this particular map of countries with recognized al-Qaeda affiliates.
US assembling elite special forces teams across Africa to counter Al-Qaeda – report: The Pentagon’s efforts center around building special forces in Libya, Niger, Mauritania, and Mali, where there is growing American concern over groups such as Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. Yet the program has struggled to advance as the US military faces challenges in the region. The US Army’s Green Berets and Delta Force have been involved in the trainings, The Times reported. The US Department of Defense has spent almost $70 million to assist in training a counterterrorism battalion in Niger, as well as a similar team in Mauritania. The initiatives are in “formative stages,” a senior department official told The Times. The Pentagon has $16 million to spend on training and equipping two companies of Libyan troops and associated support elements. This effort involved the attempt to train troops at a secret military base outside of Tripoli, though this aspect of the program ended in August when militiamen sei ...
France has declared that the Boko Haram sect would be treated like Al-Qaeda, just as the sect’s members. French Ambassador to Nigeria, Jacques Champagne de Labriolle, who made the declaration in Abuja, said that his country would not hesitate to offer intelligence support, pointing out that collective effort was needed to tackle insurgency. According to Ambassador de Labriolle, France believes that the mobilization against Boko Haram should be the same as the mobilization the world has seen before against Al-Qaeda and for the same reason. This comes as the U.N. Security Council Committee on Al Qaeda Sanctions also blacklisted the Boko Haram sect after the insurgents kidnapped hundreds of schoolgirls. The U.N. listing entry described Boko Haram as an affiliate of Al Qaeda and the organization of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). The Nigerian Government has sought inter ...
THE SWAP WE WANT By Ochereome Nnanna Boko Haram is as devious as the devil itself. From a ragtag band of misguided Islamic adherents which preached against Western education and everything Western as a whole, it has now become the most talked-about terrorist group in the world. It has overshadowed Al Shabbab in Somalia, the Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, AQIM, the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Chechen Islamists in Russia and the jihadist rebels that were dislodged from Mali. I will not go as far as glorifying them, as some have done, by saying they are smarter than the Federal Government. That is foolish talk. Those who say so either do not understand the complexity of the challenge before the nation or they are merely acting out a script perfected by the enemies of the country who want to discredit the government and people of Nigeria to gain access to the Presidency; a mission that failed before and will fail again. The single most important factor in the rapid growth of Boko Haram is not r ...
Jihadist infighting in Syria reminiscent of the past Zawahiri says that the infighting inside Syria reminds him of Algeria in the 1990s. Veteran jihadists within the Armed Islamic Group (common known by its French acronym, GIA) turned on one another and also indiscriminately slaughtered Muslims. Zawahiri says the GIA's infighting led first to the "spiritual death of that group, followed by [its] physical death." In an effort to rectify the GIA's excess, Al Qaeda helped form the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (known as the GSPC) as an offshoot of the GIA in the late 1990s. The GSPC then evolved in Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), a branch of Al Qaeda. Zawahiri personally oversaw AQIM's official merger with Al Qaeda in 2006. Zawahiri references a meeting he had years ago with Sheikh Abu Muhammad al Maqdisi, an influential jihadist ideologue who is imprisoned inside Jordan. From his prison cell, Maqdisi has been critical if ISIS' actions. Zawahiri says the story of their meeting in Peshawar i ...

Here it is! MT Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb: Leaders and their Networks
Boko Haram joins Al-Qaeda network of terrorists There are very strong indications to suggest that al-Qaeda, the global terror organization founded by the late Osama Bin Laden, may have taken control of the notorious and deadly Jama’atu Ahliss-Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, popularly known as Boko Haram, Sunday Boko Haram was formed by top politicians in Borno State to promote political advantage using religious persuasion. The politicians have since lost control of the band of terrorists. . The problem, however, according to sources, is that “except Cameroun enters into concrete collaboration with Nigeria, nothing can be done”. The alleged arrowhead of the take-over, which is the al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, AQIM, has its headquarters in Algeria. Generally, AQIM is said to be funding and equipping Boko Haram. One of the sources added, “The revelation confirms Nigeria’s intelligence services assessment and worries that the previously unknown group has received training and support from al Qa ...
AQIM Mourns Majed Al-Majed, Threatens Hizbullah if Continues to 'Oppress' Sunnis The al-Qaida's North Africa branch mourned on Tuesday the death of the “emir” of the al-Qaida-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades Majed al-Majed, considering that he had traveled to Lebanon to “defend Sunnis.” "Today, we say goodbye to a brave leader and to an honorable man who spent his days in jihad to defend vulnerable Muslims,” a statement released by AQIM (al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb) stated. The statement, which was published on CNN's website on Monday afternoon, revealed that al-Majed had come to Lebanon to defend Sunnis. “He came to Lebanon where Sunnis are greatly oppressed, where the government is treasonous and where there is a sectarian gang working under the commandment of Qom's rulers,” it elaborated. Addressing Hizbullah, the statement added: “I tell you, al-Majed has left behind what will deprive you of your sleep, he left men that do not accept to be treated as inferiors in their own religion. ...
$0.60 for cake: Al-Qaida records every expense The convoy of cars bearing the black al-Qaida flag came at high speed, and the manager of the modest grocery store thought he was about to get robbed. Mohamed Djitteye rushed to lock his till and cowered behind the counter. He was dumbfounded when instead, the al-Qaida commander gently opened the grocery's glass door and asked for a pot of mustard. Then he asked for a receipt. Confused and scared, Djitteye didn't understand. So the jihadist repeated his request. Could he please have a receipt for the $1.60 purchase? This transaction in northern Mali shows what might seem an unusual preoccupation for a terror group: Al-Qaida is obsessed with documenting the most minute expenses. In more than 100 receipts left in a building occupied by al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb in Timbuktu earlier this year, the extremists assiduously tracked their cash flow, recording purchases as small as a single light bulb. The often tiny amounts are carefully written out in pencil an ...
France To Send Drones To Mali Region By JAMEY KEATEN PARIS -- France will move surveillance drones to West Africa and is holding secretive talks with U.S. officials in Paris this week as it seeks to steer international military action to help Mali's feeble government win back the northern part of the country from al-Qaida-linked rebels, The Associated Press has learned. France and the United Nations insist any invasion of Mali's north must be led by African troops. But France, which has six hostages in Mali and has citizens who have joined al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, is playing an increasing role behind the scenes. Many in the West fear that northeast Mali and the arid Sahel region could become the new Afghanistan, a no-man's-land where extremists can train, impose hardline Islamic law and plot terror attacks abroad. And France, former colonial ruler to countries across the Sahel, is a prime target. "This is actually a major threat – to French interests in the region, and to France itself," said Fr ...
Strengthening Algerian-Tunisian relations have been as a result of regional security dilemmas, including the Mount Chaambi area near the Algeria-Tunisia border which has become a site of growing lawlessness and violence. This has led to the governments of these two countries establishing a sophisticated partnership based on the common understanding of the threat that al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) poses to all North African countries. French hostage in Nigeria escapes his jailers * (Reuters) - A French engineer who had been held hostage by Islamist militants in Northern Nigeria for almost a year has escaped his jailers, President Francois Hollande said on Sunday. "This man showed exceptional courage. At the risk of his life, he took advantage of an opportunity and then, in conditions worthy of an adventure novel, he managed to free himself," Hollande told reporters in Israel, where he is on a state visit. Hollande gave no details about the escape, but a Nigerian police official told Reuters Francis Collomp, who is over 60, had slipped out of his cell and managed to find a motorcycle taxi which took him to a police station. Collomp was seized when about 30 gunmen stormed his compound on December 19 in the Northern Nigerian town of Rimi, close to the Niger border where Al Qaeda's North African wing, Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), operates. Hollande said French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, who arrived in Israel with Hollande, ...
There are indications that terrorist groups, Boko Haram and Ansaru, are being funded by drug cartels in Latin America, a report has revealed. The report entitled, “Terrorism in Northern Africa and theSahel in 2012: Global Reach and Implications,” is an update on five earlier studies. Published by the Director, Inter-University Centre for Terrorism Studies, USA, Yonah Alexander, in February 2013, the report suggested that Al-Qaida in Islamic Maghreb, had aligned with many other groups in order to expand its sources of funding. Intelligence reports have in the past identified a strong link between AQIM and Boko Haram with the newly emerging Ansaru. In December 2012, the Commander of the United States African Command, Gen. Carter Ham, stated that there was an increasing collaboration between AQIM and other terrorist groups in Africa, including Boko Haram. The 33-page report states in part, “The threats of Al-Qaida’s new regional hub in northern Mali and from its associates constitute both tactical an ...

Everywhere you turn, you get a feeling the continent which prides herself as the cradle of human civilization is unravelling. The virulent flame of the Arab Spring is yet to fully burn out in Egypt and the Islamic Maghreb while Sub-Saharan Africa is no better. Looking to the West, you’d find pockets of violence in Northern Nigeria while an uneasy calm pervades Mali, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire and probably the whole region. Central Africa remains war torn while the beacon of hope in the East was recently under siege of terrorists for 4 days. And who are those responsible for all these if not the ethnic warlords, tribal jingoists, religious fanatics, corrupt political elite and sit-tight leaders who are *** bent on taking advantage of our differences to achieve their selfish and inglorious ambitions or to promote their warped ideologies where there is no compassion for the rest of humanity? Press Roundup | The Arrest and prosecution of Ali Anouzla Ali Anouzla, director of the Arab version of the online Moroccan news publication Lakome.com, was arrested by the Moroccan authorities for posting the link of an AQIM video (Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb) criticizing “corruption” and “despotism” in the Moroccan kingdom and directly threatening its King Mohammed VI. Called by the prosecutor-general for the investigation of “defending, providing material assistance and inciting terrorist acts”, Anouzla was charged with defense and incitement of terrorism on Wednesday, September 25. AFP, Fox News and Middle East Online explain the details of the arrest of the journalist on the morning of September 17 at his home and the seizure of the computer hard drives from the offices of the popular news website by the Moroccan authorities. In an article published in the Guardian, Greenslade defended that Lakome.ma did not in fact post the video, rather it contained a link directing towards a blog po ...
The New Terrorist Training Ground . Last year, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb did something no other modern terrorist group has: conquered a broad swath of a sovereign country—Mali. Since then, despite French intervention, northern Mali has become a jihadist front, with Islamist militants flowing in from around the world. While America remains focused on threats from the Middle East and South Asia, the new face of terror is likely to be African. Gao, the largest city in northern Mali, is a place of extremes. It’s a sprawl of one- and two-story mud-brick houses that lack power lines and running water, but it’s also home to the garish, McMansion-style estates of Cocainebougou, or “Cocaine Town,” a deserted neighborhood that once belonged to Arab drug lords who controlled the region’s smuggling routes for hashish and cocaine but fled, fearing reprisals from local citizens who blamed them for the Islamist invasion. The city has few high schools and no universities, but many of Mali’s leading gu ...

Rebels in Algeria, Rivalry among jihadists FOR a man so often reported killed, Mokhtar Belmokhtar, Algeria’s most mercurial rebel, is remarkably influential. He is becoming more prominent in the blood-soaked world of militancy in the Sahara, as a web of jihadist movements spreads across the desert region’s borders. Mr Belmokhtar earned his spurs in Afghanistan in the 1980s, then led a unit of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA in French) during Algeria’s civil war in the 1990s. When in 2007, after several rebrandings, that group called itself al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Mr Belmokhtar was one of its main leaders, hiding out in Algeria’s remote borderlands. Especially through his control of cross-border smuggling, he earned a lot of money—and the sobriquet Mr Marlboro. But the Algerian media were always full of tales of squabbles between Mr Belmokhtar, who has boasted that he had been close to al-Qaeda since the 1990s, and the Algerian leader of AQIM, Abdelmalek Droukdel. In recent months, t ...

Arabic is one of the world's major languages, spoken in a broad belt extending from the Arabian Peninsula on to the Atlantic Ocean. It is the official language and the home language for over 280 million and 140 million people respectively in Africa and Asia (including the Middle East). Arabic belongs to the Afro-Asiatic family, Semitic group, south-western subgroup (Arabian branch). With the rise of Islam as a dominant religion after AD 622, Arabic became the most widespread of the living Semitic languages. The earliest written inscriptions in Arabic are found in the Arabian Peninsula and date from the early 4th century AD. The diverse colloquial dialects of Arabic are interrelated but vary considerably among speakers from different parts of the Middle East and among urban, rural, and nomadic speakers. The Forum which was attended by representatives of 24 parties from 11 Arab countries, discussed the unfolding events in the region in view of the ongoing popular uprisings against 1. the Zionist-Imperialist plots, 2. imperialist interventions in the internal affairs of various Arab states, 3. oppressive ruling regimes and varied counter revolutionary forces including some movements of political-Islam. Having risen to power, these political-Islam movements are trying to reverse the achievements of the uprisings and revolutions of the Arab people, by using the ugliest forms of oppressions and brutality. Representatives of the convened parties also stressed the importance of establishing civil, democratic and modern states able to guarantee the basic rights of their citizens. Aqeedah and Fiqh - Shaykh Yasir Qadhi Salaam Aalikum The relationship between the schools of legal thought and the schools of theology is a very lengthy topic, and one that is worthy of more attention. I honestly think it would be a great dissertation topic! Breifly though, one needs to realize that the four great Imam all lived in different time periods. Hence, their fiqh was dependant on their contextual setting and amount and type of knowledge accessible to them (as you all have studied in the Code Evolved insha Allah). Also, their statements pertaining to aqeedah were likewise influenced. Now, enough quotes exist from the four Imams that proves that they all held the same creed in Asma wa al-Sifaat (in fact, in all issues of theology, except for a finer detail of Iman where one of them held a different opinion). However, the quantity of these quotes varies greatly. The earlier Imams (i.e., Abu Hanifa, Malik and Shafi'ee) were not surrounded by Mu`tazilah nor was there any major threat from them. Howev ...

The presence of Islam in Africa can be traced to the seventh century when the prophet Muhammad advised a number of his early disciples, who were facing persecution by the pre-Islamic inhabitants of the Mecca, to seek refuge across the Red Sea at the court of Axum in Zeila, under the rule of al-Najashi. In the Muslim tradition, this event is known as the first hijrah, or migration. These first Muslim migrants provided Islam with its first major triumph, and the coastline of Somalia became the first safe haven for Muslims and the first place Islam would be practiced outside of the Arabian Peninsula. Seven years after the death of Muhammad (in 639 AD), the Arabs advanced toward Africa and within two generations, Islam had expanded across the Horn of Africa, North Africa and all of the Central Maghreb. In the following centuries, the consolidation of Muslim trading networks, connected by lineage, trade, and Sufi brotherhoods, had reached a crescendo in West Africa, enabling Muslims to wield tremendous politic ...

WHY DO CHRISTIANS BLAME ISLAM FOR KILLING Anyone who dreams or prophesizes anything that is against God, or anyone who tries to turn you from God, is to be put to death. (Deuteronomy 13:5) If anyone, even your own family suggests worshipping another God, kill them. (Deuteronomy 13:6-10) If you find out a city worships a different god, destroy the city and kill all of it's inhabitants... even the animals. (Deuteronomy 13:12-15) Kill anyone with a different religion. (Deuteronomy 17:2-7)

THIS IS WHAT EISENHOWER WARNED US ABOUT: At least 18 people killed as hundreds flee deadly gunbattles in Somalia: Gunmen from the Ras Kamboni armed group of Ahmed Madobe, recently self-appointed "president" of the southern Jubaland region, battled against forces loyal to Iftin Hassan Basto, another leader claiming to be president. 11 people killed in Libyan Benghazi: At least 11 people were killed and 35 wounded in clashes on Saturday between protesters and a Libyan militia operating with Defence Ministry approval in the eastern city of Benghazi, a doctor in the city said. Libya: Extremists Setting Up Shop in Libya: al-Qaida-linked jihadists driven out of Mali by a French-led offensive earlier this year have set up at least three jihadist camps in southern Libya in recent months. Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession. Psalm 2:8 NLT MAURITANIA By Pastor Kyle Horner. Mauritania is proud to be a pure Muslim country, and its laws prohibit conversion to the Christian faith. Of the 4 million inhabitants, only 4000 are Christian. Harsh government restrictions make it very difficult for Christian missions to operate here. Religious beliefs and practices are strongly restricted by government policies, although the government is weak in enforcing them. Pressure on Muslim-background believers from family, tribe members and local Muslim leaders is very high. The Arab Spring has not yet had an impact but Islam extremism is becoming more influential. Pray: •There are always reports of believers being beaten for their faith. Pray for protection and perseverance for God’s people •Al-Qaeda in the Maghreb is monitoring Christian activity. Pray that its influence will diminish. •That literacy and translation projects will give more ...
Empire of Ancient Ghana Ancient Ghana derived power and wealth from gold and the introduction of the camel during the Trans-Saharan trade increased the quantity of goods that were transported. Majority of the knowledge of Ghana comes from the Arab writers. Al-Hamdani, for example, describes Ghana as having the richest gold mines on earth. These mines were situated at Bambuk, on the upper Senegal river. The Soninke people also sold slaves, salt and copper in exchange for textiles, beads and finished goods. They built their capital city, Kumbi Saleh, right on the edge of the Sahara and the city quickly became the most dynamic and important southern terminus of the Saharan trade routes. Kumbi Saleh became the focus of all trade, with a systematic form of taxation. Later on Audaghust became another commercial centre. The wealth of ancient Ghana is mythically explained in the tale of Bida, the black snake. This snake demanded an annual sacrifice in return for guaranteeing prosperity in the Kingdom, therefore e ...

Abbasi History : Cast History In Pakistan By qskan on February 6, 2011 | From crazeclub.com Abbasi History : History of Abbasi cast Abbasi History : Cast History In Pakistan Abbasid was the dynastic name generally given to the caliphs of Baghdad, the second of the two great Sunni dynasties of the Muslim empire, that overthrew the Umayyid caliphs. It seized power in 758, when it finally defeated the Umayyads in battle, and flourished for two centuries, but slowly went into eclipse with the rise to power of the Turkish army they had created, the Mamluks. Their claim to power was finally ended in 1258, when Hulagu Khan, the Mongol general, sacked Baghdad. While they continued to claim authority in religious matters from their base in Egypt, their dynasty was ended. Revolt against the Umayyads The Abbasid caliphs officially based their claim to the Caliphate on their descent from Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (AD 566-652), one of the youngest uncles of the Prophet Muhammad, by virtue of which descent they regarde ...

Here's the deal, Muslims: NATO will occupy Muslim countries as and when it chooses. The Cameron government will supply arms to Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Those regimes will in turn arm radical militants including the al-Nusrah Front, Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, and Boko Haram. NATO will then destroy those groups, their weapons, and collateral civilians in Algeria, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, etc. If Muslims complain, the EDL will burn their mosques.

By Oscar Nkala South Africa has not been identified as having any major terrorist threats, according to a new US Department of State report, which warns that jihadist terrorism remains a major security threat across Africa. The “Country Reports on Terrorism 2012” report details how terrorists are taking advantage of post-revolutionary turmoil across North Africa and warns of insecurity in the Sahel and West Africa, where 175 terrorist attacks and 15 cases of kidnapping were confirmed by the end of 2012. The US government report did not record any terror activity in South Africa. However, in October, the government opened its testimony as the prosecution witness in a case involving Henry Okah, the leader for the Movement for Defense of the Niger Delta. Okah, a South African citizen since 2003, stood trial in the Gauteng South High Court for his role in the twin bombings during the October 2010 Independence Day Anniversary celebrations in Abuja, Nigeria, that killed and wounded scores of people. I am still struggling with my husband a little bit. He is doing his duties as a Muslim, prays and fasted Ramadan. I don't expect him to be a perfect Muslim, no one is and we all have struggles and make mistakes. I pray to Allah every prayer to plant the faith in his heart and push him in the direction of seeking knowledge, however, I feel that it hasn't worked yet..still have faith that it will. He is doing what he needs to do, prays, doesn't drink or eat pork, we paid zakat with no problems. I just wish that he believed that it was the right thing to do in his heart and I want this not only for his peace of mind, but for mine too, I know that sounds selfish. I still fear that this will be held against me and I will be punished for it on the Day of Judgement, since my husband hung on to Islam to marry me. Perhaps I shouldn't have gone through with it once I knew that, but Allah help me, I love him dearly and after Istekhara, everything went smoothly and it was evident that he was my naseeb. I want him to ...

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful   Dua is essentially submission to God and a sign of our need for God.  Dua has been called the weapon of the believer because it increases faith, gives hope and relief to the distressed and saves the supplicant from the despair and isolation.  And perhaps most importantly God loves to be asked and He encourages us to call on Him for all our needs, wants, and desires.   The renowned Islamic scholar Imam Ibn al-Qayyim described dua in the following way.  He said, “The Dua and prayers for seeking refuge with God are like a weapon, and a weapon is only as good as the person who is using it; it is not merely the matter of how sharp it is.  If the weapon is perfect and free of faults, and the arm of the person using it is strong, and there is nothing stopping him, then he can lay waste to the enemy.  But if any of these three features is lacking, then the effect will be lacking accordingly”.   It is incumbent upon us then, when we make our ...

In Gadhafi's Timbuktu Villa, a Retreat - By Drew Hinshaw TIMBUKTU, Mali-Moammar Gadhafi built a house in Timbuktu. By the time French warplanes destroyed it, the Al Qaeda militants who made their nest in the gaudy mansion had long since packed and gone. For five months, members of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb stayed in Col. Gadhafi's desert villa here, as described by guards, gardeners and a nearby cabbage farmer. Enjoying a retreat from battle, the militants trained, met with allies and kept the city under extremist rule.
I trust those who supported the so-called Arab/Maghreb revolution are watching its' aftermath. For current events has shown that to an Arab democracy means Sharia. And Sharia means intolerace of other beliefs and culture. I wish the West will be wise enough to let Assad crush those Sunni elements masquerading as revolutionaries in Syria. Better be Shia and Amhadiyya Islam than Sunni. Sunni islam is synonymous with terrorism.

France's surprise intervention in northern Mali against Islamist fighters involved in lucrative drug-running has disrupted cocaine supply to Europe but smugglers are already finding new routes, analysts said. The former colonial power sent its jets and troops exactly two months ago to eliminate Al-Qaeda-linked groups that had been controlling northern Mali for nine months and were threatening to move south towards the capital. The jihadist network in Mali's north has funded itself by taking foreign hostages but also by levying a tax on smugglers running drugs from Latin America to feed Europe's ever-growing market. Poverty and the lack of government presence in the vast desert expanse has provided an ideal ground for smugglers. Typically, the drugs are shipped to the Gulf of Guinea or flown in directly from Venezuela, for example, into Mauritania or Mali, where they are stored and eventually taken overland to the Mediterranean's southern shores. The route is known as "Highway 10", in reference to the 10th ...

786...NON ISLAMIC!!! Let me clear this thing out here its important. This misunderstandin g of people saying 786 means Bissmillah is utterly wrong!! The numbers 7-8-6 as we see them being used today, come from Pakistan mostly but other Muslims have begun to use this term as well. They claim it representsthe "Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim". However, there isno real evidence for this from Islam or the Arabic. It could be something in Urdu, but even that was not done by earlier scholars. In fact, some of the real scholars from these areas have told us, Muslims should not do these things. Dr Zakir Naik [SHARE THIS POST WITH EVERYONE]

There are many concepts of teachers in Islam. Islam does not have an explicit hierarchy, thus the concepts and names for spiritual teachers and secular functions are often mixed and easily confused. Larayedh replaced Hamadi Jebali, who resigned following the assassination of secular politician Chokri Belaid on Feb. 6, which provoked the worst unrest in Tunisia since the uprising that overthrew President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali two years ago. Ennahda's coalition partners - the centre-left Ettakatol and President Moncef Marzouki's secular Congress for the Republic (CPR) - are the same parties as in the previous government. *CALL FOR PAPERS* Deadline March 15, 2013 *Allah n'est pas obligé: The Location of Islam in Francophone Cultures* *SFPS Postgraduate Study Day* *University of Stirling,* *20 June 2013* From France to West Africa and farther afield in the Francophone world, Islam is a dominant force in the universe that writers, filmmakers and other social and cultural actors hail from and often turn to for critical inspiration. It has played a major role in the history of this world before, during and after the colonial period. However, the study of Islam has not received sufficient attention in Francophone postcolonial and cultural studies. Over a decade into the twenty-first century, Islam is still heavily studied in its disciplinary stronghold of area studies but rarely in the postcolonial zones of the arts and the humanities. When one considers its central position in many Francophone cultures and the insufficient attention it has received in postcolonial studies, Islam can thus be seen as a very promising research s ...

Sidi Abu Abbas Ahmad al-Tijani was born in the Southwest Algerian oasis town of Ain Madi on the twelfth of Safar in the year 1150 (1737 C.E.). He was a descendent of the Prophet Muhammad through Fatima Zahra’s first son Hasan and later through Mawlay Idris, the celebrated founder of Morocco. His father was Sidi Muhammad b. al-Mukhtar b. Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Salam, a prominent scholar whose family hailed from the Moroccan Abda tribe and whose grandfather had immigrated to Ain Madi fleeing a Portuguese invasion less than a century before Shaykh Tijani’s birth. This same ancestor was perhaps one of the more renowned of the Tijani line prior to Shaykh Ahmad Tijani, and it is reported that he used to engage so much in spiritual retreat (khalwa) that he would have to walk to the five prayers in the mosque with his face covered, otherwise onlookers would fall so heedlessly in love with him that they would thereafter never be able to separate from him. Shaykh Tijani’s mother, Aisha, was the daughter of Muha ...

Imperial Jockeying in Africa: U.S. Intervention Sets to Deepen By Ben Schreiner February 20, 2013 "Information Clearing House" -As “the peril of guerrilla war looms” for the French in Mali, the United States prepares to step-up its intervention across Africa. Speaking in Bamako on Tuesday, U.S. Senator Christopher *** chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, stated that direct U.S. military support of the Malian government is likely to resume after the country’s July elections. “After there is a full restoration of democracy,” *** said, “I would think it is likely that we will renew our direct support for the Malian military.” (The U.S. suspended direct military aid to Mali following a coup last year by a U.S.-trained Malian officer.) *** went on to deem al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) a “‘very real threat’ to Africa, the United States and the wider world.” According to U.S. intelligence officials, however, AQIM “remains mainly a regional menace,” with “no ...

Al-Qaeda plan for northern Mali revealed in document: report A document left behind in the bombed remains of an al-Qaeda training headquarters in the Malian city of Timbuktu gives a rare insight into the organization’s thinking, a British newspaper reported Wednesday. The Daily Telegraph said it had found the Arabic-language document outside a building bombed by French forces who drove the Islamists from the ancient city. The newspaper said the document was the first page of minutes from the 33rd meeting of the al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) leadership, held on March 18, 2012. The AQIM chiefs discussed a plan to capitalize on the gains made in northern Mali by the Islamist rebel group Ansar Dine and Tuareg minority rebels. It was suggested that AQIM pushed aside the groups and took control. At the time of the meeting, those groups had just captured a string of towns in the Sahara Desert on Mali’s northern border with Algeria. Le Monde: The Muslim religion is the object of a deep mistrust Le Monde (24.01.2013) - Rarely has mistrust of Islam been so clearly expressed by the French people. In a recent poll by Ipsos, 74% of individuals questioned said they view Islam as an "intolerant" religion that is incompatible with the values of French society. Even more shocking, 8 out of every 10 French people believe that the Muslim religion seeks to "impose its manner of operating on others." Finally, more than half those interviewed think that Muslims are "mostly" (10%) or "in part" (44%) "fundamentalists," without knowing what this description includes. These figures admittedly vary according to the age and the political membership of those polled, but, the fact that this poll shows these negative views of Islam are widely held by individuals in every category shows how deeply rooted these opinions are in the collective imagination. Furthermore, 61% of those on the political left and 66% of those under the age of 35 consider Islam to b ...

February Day One India, South Asia A crowd of Hindu radicals brutally beat a pastor in Karnataka. Pastor S.K. is hospitalized after suffering broken ribs and numerous head and neck injuries. Extremists attempted to attack him in the hospital the following day. Guards now protect him in an effort to aid his physical recovery. Pastor S.K. is one example of the ongoing persecution in Karnataka. According to the Global Council of Indian Christians, thirty-nine attacks against Christian Believers occurred in 2012. Ask God to supernaturally protect His Church in Karnataka. Ask the Lord to heal Pastor S.K. and shield him from further violence. Pray for the strength and endurance of Christian Believers in Karnataka. Pray for the Gospel to spread in this region (The Bible, Psalm 62:5-8). THE French military intervention in Mali is one of those signal events that reveals, or at least confirms, several key new features of how the world works. But first the story in brief. After the operation in Libya to get rid of Muammar Gaddafi, a great flow of weapons and people found its way into neighbouring countries across North Africa. One of these was Mali, a blighted, chronically misgoverned, impoverished West African state whose chief claim to fame is its evocatively named northern city, Timbuktu. About a year ago, a flood of jihadists, in alliance with a disaffected ethnic group and under the leadership of al-Qa'ida in the Islamic Maghreb, took control of northern Mali. What moved the French to swift and decisive military intervention was the prospect that the jihadists would take southern Mali as well. The French intervention has been successful. The jihadists have been forced out of almost all the cities and towns they had captured. The French had originally hoped a force of West African troop ...

Salaams all my kids I am forever in need of your duas, just want to share my day today I was thinking of each one of you. The water hole has been a test for me, the village land owner who allowed to use his land for the job, in front of the whole people was conivingly trying to get money out for his personal use from the Pathan workers who had taken the task for, boring water by digging 150 ft underground their machines were out to work and believe me it is an extremely hard work, I felt so sorry for the hard work old labourers were doing and it's sitting operating machine all day long uncertainty when water will splash out could take anything between 10 to 30 days, laborious task and removing hard stones and planks of heavy mud. Any how the taskmaster Pathan boss was also trying to blind me for my money.by lying to me so between the haji saheb who owned the land and the task master I was going mad, and today the work was stopped in my absence twice, haji said stop the machines now until u pay me 20 rs. . ...

What’s happening in Mali, and could human rights violations be occurring? According to the mainstream media, French forces are liberating areas controlled by Tuareg rebels or by al-Qaeda (the stories vary) who are intent on imposing sharia law. Apparently the all-conquering French arrived in Timbuktu too late to save irreplaceable ancient manuscripts (so irreplaceable, in fact, that we are also told that no-one had ever bothered to copy them). What is given less prominence is that the borders of Mali (a country whose odd shape is most reminiscent of one of these pieces of metal used to give eccentric motion to a sanding machine) were drawn by colonial powers with no concern for the interests or preferences of the indigenous peoples. The Tuaregs have a history of rebelling against a state which they see as marginalizing them, just as France and the UK have histories of intervening in former colonies in order to restore stability (for which read, a state of affairs which suits mining and other overseas co ...
SUBSCRIBE US military plans drone base near Mali: Official by PHANTOM REPORT on JANUARY 28, 2013 Source: Times of India The US military plans to set up a base for drones in northWest Africa to bolster surveillance of al-Qaida’s affiliate in the region as well as allied Islamist extremists, a US official told AFP on Monday. The base for the robotic, unmanned aircraft would likely be located in Niger, on the eastern border of Mali, where French forces are currently waging a campaign against al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The base was first reported by the New York Times earlier on Monday. The airfield would allow for better intelligence gathering by unarmed drones on the movement of AQIM and other militants, which Washington considers a growing threat, the official said. If the plan gets the green light, up to 300 US military service members and contractors could be sent to the base to operate the drone aircraft, according to the New York Ti ...
Even from the time of Shaykh Tijani’s first visit to Fes, the young scholar’s ascendent motivation seemed to be the attainment of a spiritual opening (fath). So when another of his teachers, Sidi Muhammad al-Wanjili (d. 1185), a man known for his saintliness, predicted for him a maqam (spiritual station) of Qutbaniyya (Polehood) similar to that of Abu Hasan al-Shadhili, but that his fath would come in the desert, Tijani hastened his departure from Fes. The Jawahir reports that he spent some time in the desert Zawiya of the famous Qutb Sidi Abd al-Qadir b. Muhammad al-Abyad (known as Sidi al-Shaykh) before returning to Ain Madi, only to leave his home soon again to return to al-Abyad before moving on to Tlemcen. His activities during this time consisted of teaching Qur’anic exegesis (tafsir) and Hadith in whatever town he happened to be staying while continuing an apparently rigorous practice of asceticism, including frequent fasting and superogatory worship. During his stay in Tlemcen, he received t ...

French troops stop al-Qaeda group in its tracks in Mali1/2A French soldier stands guard in the formerly Islamist held town of DiabalyPhoto: Will Wintercross for the TelegraphBy David Blair, in Diabaly5:43PM GMT 21 Jan 2013Al-Qaeda's long march across Mali and much of the Sahara was finally halted on Monday when French forces wrested back a key town after inflicting a series of pinpoint airstrikes.Five blackened and eviscerated pick-ups stood at the entrance to the town of Diabaly in centralMali, only four or five feet away from unscathed homes made of sun-baked mud.French troops in armoured vehicles swept past this evidence of their air force's prowess, seizing Diabaly a week after it fell to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). After capturing all of northern Mali and threatening to take the rest of the country, AQIM's loss of Diabaly marked their first clear defeat. Many of the town's 35,000 people were jubilant over the arrival of the French.A French soldier is surrounded by welcoming locals in Diabl ...
Al-Qaeda wasn’t actually behind the hostage siege in Algeria, which ended with the deaths of at least three Americans and a lot of other foreign and domestic workers. It wasn’t even the loosely related “al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb,” though the attackers said they did it on their behalf.
There are facts about Al Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) that are reassuringly hard and verifiable. The organisation exists. It’s run by Algerian Arabs. It’s made a home from home in the north east of Mali, on Tinariwen’s native earth. It earns millions and millions of euros from kidnapping west...
The two terror off-shoots of Al Qaeda that have presently made themselves snug in Northern Mali are 'Al Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb' (AQIM) and 'Ansar Din.'  What normally would have been for them an existence in considerable poverty and struggle as formerly in Afghanistan, is now an existence with money and 'style.'  Courtesy: NATO!   Excerpts taken from a recent article in Yahoo gives an interesting account on how AQIM and Ansar Din have been preparing to defend themselves against any interventions since more than a year.   One can get a precise picture of the amount of wealth, weapons and construction equipments Al Qaeda branch of LIFG acquired from post-Gaddafi Libya in 2011 and utilized it to help its branches outside Libya.   Following are a bunch of jaw dropping excerpts from the article.   "Deep inside caves, in remote desert bases, in the escarpments and cliff faces of northern Mali, Islamic extremist fighters have been burrowing into the earth, erecting a formidable set of defen ...

Mujahideen in Algeria released a video in which they proposes exchanging American hostages held by them for Pakistani Aafia Siddiqui & Egyptian Omar Abdul Rahman, jailed in US on charges of terrorist links. SubhanALLAH! This gives message to all enemies of Islam that Muslims are one UMMAH. On Thursday 34 western prisoners were massacred in an air strike by the Algerian puppet army under direct orders from US govt. Earlier on Wednesday morning, 41 western citizens were taken prisoner by the courageous Mujahideen in Islamic Maghreb, demanding from western governments to stop their beastly crusade against the Islamic country of Azawad in former northern Mali in exchange for releasing western prisoners. Western government decided it would be better for them to kill their own citizens than to stop aggression against Azawad.

Terrorist Attack on Algerian Gas Plant Pre-Planned The terrorist attack and taking of hostages on January 16 at a gas production facility in Algeria appears to have been planned several weeks in advance by Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in anticipation of a French intervention into Mali. The outcome of an Algerian operation to free the hostages is still unclear as are the number of hostages and hostage takers who were killed. Recent press reports indicate that the Algerian operation may still be ongoing. Meanwhile, progress has been made against Islamist rebels in Mali, with Malian troops retaking a key town in the center of the country.
