Miami (AFP) - World number two Novak Djokovic defeated Andy Murray 7-5, 6-3 on Wednesday to book his semi-final berth at the Miami ATP Masters. Djokovic recovered an early break in the second set to notch the victory in one hour and 29 minutes. My early birthday present this year was two evening sessions of tennis at Indian Wells. We stayed with friends Donna and Lloyd. The men dropped us off at the gate then went to park the car. Would you believe that on the way into the stadium they had their pictures taken with Roger Federer? (That's who he said he was.) Gordon was tickled to be in a picture with a real celebrity! We girls pouted over missing our chance all night.

With spring break on the horizon and two Masters 1000 events on deck, the Nike Tennis Spring 2014 collection for Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro has been released for the tournaments in Indian Wells, California and Miami, Florida.
February 7 2014 Dubai UAE Juan Martin Del Potro is hoping to do at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships what he once did at the US Open. At one stage the Grand Slams were being dominated by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, but in 2009 he beat them both in New York to break their monopoly and win his first Grand Slam title. Now, with Federer and Novak Djokovic dominating here in Dubai by claiming the title in nine of the last 11 years, the amiable Argentine is ready to do a repeat of 2009 and put his name on the winners board. This is his third straight year competing at one of the strongest events staged outside of the Grand Slams, and his two previous visits saw him reach the semi-finals before, ironically, losing to Federer in 2012 and Djokovic in 2013. With victories last season against Djokovic at Indian Wells and Federer in the Basel final, as well as Nadal in Shanghai, Del Potro knows he has what it takes to beat the best in the world and add a Dubai triumph to his already impressiv ...
Footage of Roger Federer hitting his forehand, backhand and serve on the practice courts of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA, 2013.
’m not done yet, says Federer 21 October Basel, Switzerland - Roger Federer admitted on Sunday that he made serious errors in his planning which have contributed to a disastrous 2013 campaign, but insisted that retirement is not on his agenda. The 17-time Grand Slam title winner has slumped to number eight in the world, his lowest point in more than a decade, and failed to make a final at any of the four majors, a run of disappointments that has led many in the sport to predict the end of the road for the 32-year-old. The Swiss, who split last week with coach Paul Annacone after more than three years, confessed that he could have done things differently. “I played matches that I should never have played,” said Federer, ahead of his participation in his home Swiss Indoors event which starts on Monday. “I should have left in Indian Wells (last March, with back pain) before the quarter-finals against (fellow Swiss Stanislas) Wawrinka. This summer, I should not have tried to play on clay in Hamburg an ...
A Visual Voice-Over and Written Words on Sir Roger This year at Indian Wells, Federer was asked if he studies the stats from his matches. He said he did only at one tournament per year, Wimbledon. Roger explained that stats are placed on the table in front of him in the press room and he reads the stats as he waits for the press to settle in and ask their post match questions. The follow up question at Indian Wells was does his coach look at his stats. Roger said no and added that together they just know, they have a feel for what happens match by match. I wrote an article that was published with the title, ' Dear Mr. Roger Federer, Sir.' How can you criticize Roger Federer? Difficult yes, but all you have to do is look at his stats. Roger needs to come forward more. He has all the tools. His Olympic gold in doubles proved he can play the net. Typically he averages coming in less than 20% of the points and winning close to 70%. Roger has the tools to build all the patterns. He is running around his backha ...
