The Serb Djokovic beat Nadal in straight sets Sunday for his fourth Miami trophy. He won in Indian Wells a fortnight ago. Serena powers into final Miami - World number one Serena Williams has defeated Maria Sharapova 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday to reach the final of the Miami hardcourt tournament. Williams extended her dominance over the fourth-seeded Russian and now leads their career head-to-head 16-2. The American has won 15 straight matches against Sharapova, whose two victories in their rivalry came back in 2004. In the final Williams will be gunning for a second straight Miami crown and a seventh overall. She'll face the winner of Thursday night's match between world number two Li Na of China and 10th-seeded Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova. Li has won all six of her meetings with Cibulkova, including January's Australian Open Final and a quarter-final clash at Indian Wells this month. For Sharapova it was another disappointing finish in Miami, where she has reached five finals but never lifted the trophy.
Li Na has overcome Caroline Wozniacki 7-5 7-5 to reach the semi-finals of the Miami Masters. The Australian Open champion rode her luck in the first set, striking 32 unforced errors, but doing just enough to edge out the Dane. The deciding set was also evenly matched, but the Chinese turned up the tempo late on, winning the final four games to wrap up the contest. This is the first time that Li has reached a Sony Open semi-final, a feat that sees her become the only woman to reach the last four at both Indian Wells and Miami this year. Li will take on Dominika Cibulkova in semi-finals, a repeat of the Australian Open Final.

To my Caroline fan followers. Is that the same tennis uniform that Caroline is wearing at Indian Wells as she did at Australian Open?
Top seed Rafa Nadal will open his Indian Wells title defence against Radek Stepanek after the Czech overcame a poor second set to beat Denis Istomin 6-1 3-6 6-1 in the first round. Stepanek, ranked 50th in the world, was broken only once and did not double fault but needed nearly two hours to defeat the Uzbek. Also on Thursday, Lleyton Hewitt notched his 599th career win when he beat fellow Australian Matthew Ebden 7-6(2) 3-6 6-3. Hewitt will try for his 600th career victory in a second round encounter against South African Kevin Anderson, who has been a losing finalist in his past two ATP events. The top 32 seeds receive a bye to the second round, with the leading players making their first appearance over the weekend. Serbian Novak Djokovic is the second seed, while Stanislas Wawrinka, the Australian Open champion from Switzerland, is third seed for the season's first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament. On the women's side, the second round starts on Friday and among those in action will be second s ...

Top-ranked Serena Williams withdrew Friday from the Qatar Open and the Indian Wells event because of a back injury sustained last month in the Australian Open.
Serena enters Indian Wells Serena Williams’ name is on the entry list for the Indian Wells tournament for the first time since she vowed in 2001 to never return reports AP. The Williams sisters were scheduled to meet in the semi-finals that year, but 20 minutes before the match, Venus withdrew and fans booed them. Serena went on to win her second title there, but she and Venus said they would not return, and they have skipped the last 12 events. Their father later said he heard racial slurs from the crowd during the final. Tournament director Steve Simon said on Wednesday that while it’s too soon to know whether Serena Williams will play or not, officials are pleased to see her name on the entry list. During the Australian Open, Williams said she considered a return to Indian Wells after watching a movie about the late South African President Nelson Mandela, inspired by his message of reconciliation. Venus Williams’ name was not on the list of entries released for the BNP Paribas Open from March 3-1 ...

World Sports News Nadal to make long-awaited return Rafael Nadal will make his long-awaited return to tennis after an agonising six-month knee injury battle in the Gulf this week, but has warned he is not expecting any title-winning pyrotechnics. The 26-year-old Spaniard joins world No.1 Novak Djokovic and third-ranked Andy Murray in the six-player, three-day Mubadala Championships ahead of his return to the ATP circuit at Doha from December 31. Nadal hasn't played since his shock second round exit to 100th-ranked Lukas Rosol at Wimbledon in June, missing the Olympics, the US Open as well as the Davis Cup final against the Czech Republic which his country lost. Although desperate to play again, Nadal is equally keen to play down expectations. "Abu Dhabi is a test. My goal is not this week, not Doha or the Australian Open. My goal is to get fit, recover all my feelings. The only thing I care about is the knee," the seven-time French Open champion said. "The idea is to go from there. I won't give much value ...
Check out some snapshots of Nike Tennis Gear for Spring 2013. Credit to various sites and local tennis shops who have allowed me to browse catalogs. The following outfits (apparel and footwear) include Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s gear for the 2013 Australian Open leading up to Indian Wells.
When Federer returns to World No. 1 he will tie Sampras’ all-time record of 286 weeks in the top spot. At 30 years and 335 days, he is the second-oldest man to hold the No. 1 ranking, behind Andre Agassi who was 33 years and 131 days old. He was dethroned from the top spot by Nadal on 7 June 2010. Federer has a 46-4 match record on the season and has won four ATP World Tour titles. Only David Ferrer has won more matches this season with 47 victories. The Basel native was victorious in Rotterdam (d. del Potro), Dubai (d. Murray) and at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells (d. Isner) and Madrid (d. Berdych). The 25-year-old Murray was bidding to end Great Britain’s 76-year wait for a male Grand Slam champion; since Fred Perry triumphed at the 1936 US championships. The Scot tasted defeat in a Grand Slam final for the fourth time, having finished runner-up to Federer at the 2008 US Open and the 2010 Australian Open, and to Novak Djokovic at the 2011 Australian Open. Murray dropped ...
STUTTGART, Germany (AP) Second-ranked Maria Sharapova cruised past top-ranked Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday to win the Porsche Grand Prix for her first title of the year. Sharapova lost the finals of the Australian Open and Indian Wells this year to Azarenka, and the Russian had never beaten her rival from Belarus in four previous encounters in a final. Alright Maria.
Thanks! :) I think I'd like to travel to see a big tournament, like the Australian Open or Indian Wells. I've never attended one
