Idaho Attorney General to seek Criminal Investigation into Private Prison By REBECCA BOONE BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho attorney general's office is calling for a criminal investigation into Correction Corporation of America's understaffing of the Idaho Correctional Center after learning that a police investigation announced last year was never done. Attorney General Lawrence Wasden wrote the letter to Idaho Gov. C. L. "Butch" Otter and the heads of the state police, Department of Correction and the Ada County prosecutor's office Friday. The Associated Press obtained the letter through a public records request. In it, Wasden said there appears to be a "large degree of confusion" into whether, based on a forensic audit that showed thousands of hours of guard posts being left unstaffed, an investigation into alleged criminal wrongdoing should be conducted. "To ensure that there is no confusion going forward, I recommend that this matter be immediately referred to the Idaho State Police and the Ada County Pros ...

I would like to ask the DHF members for some help. I know that this is not "Draft" related but we often try to spread the word to help Law Enforcement agencies with searches for lost or stolen persons or property. What I need help with is this. The Idaho State Police and Local Law Enforcement in South East Idaho has issued a bulletin concerning the location of a 2014 Black Dodge D- 1500 Pick-up with Alberta Canada plates. This vehicle is thought to be carrying reportable amounts of Rock Star energy drink. This is not necessarily illegal in Idaho. But people in Idaho do have good taste and drink stuff that tastes good. There is a small reward being offered for the apprehension of this perpetrator. All so be advised that anyone caught pouring Rock Star on the ground or down drains in Idaho will feel the wrath of the State Department of Environmental Quality. Thank you for Your support in this grave matter.

Here's a shout out the Idaho State Police and the trooper/officer who pulled my son over on I-90 in CDA last night! Way to go fella's, after determining my son was the designated sober driver for a group of young adults on New Years Eve, he must have thought it was odd to find a sober 19 year old young man doing the right thing, further humiliating him by calling in the K9 unit and searching his vehicle finding nothing!! and actually accused my son of being too cooperative! To that officer who actually had the audacity to ask why my son was so cooperative, it's because that's how I raised him, to respect law enforcement officers!!! It's too bad that respect isn't returned sir. Where was the praise to the young adults for having the foresight on the biggest party night of the year to have called for a designated driver so they weren't driving drunk on the roads! Where was the respect to my son for being that sober driver and saying good job! No, for going the same speed as the other vehicles around h ...

Marijuana Trafficking Rising on I-86 Earlier today the idaho state police stopped a 1999 chevrolet pickup for a traffic violation on interstate 86 near American Falls. During the investigation the officer discovered 1.45 pounds of marijuana. Police say this is a growing problem after a number surrounding states have recenlty legalized marijuana use in some forms. Our reporter Summer Joy gives us further insight into this case and the situation. 40 year old Christopher A. Reynolds of California was arrested and charged with a felony possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver and also with possession of drug paraphernalia. The marijuana seized has a street value of around 4 thousand dollars. Talking with Idaho State Police, they say this is an increasing issue; in fact, marijuana trafficking through Idaho has increased 2 thousand percent since 2011. The fierce winter snowstorm that's hammering Eastern Idaho caused more than 100 car accidents on Thursday. It's not believed that any of the accidents resulted in serious injuries, but the continuation of the storm on Friday has prompted the National Weather Service to urge motorists to keep from driving unless it's an emergency. The snow is expected to continue falling until early Friday night in Eastern Idaho and will be accompanied by winds of nearly 30 mph that will create snow drifts and drastically reduce visibility. The combination of snow and wind was a big factor in the dozens of accidents that happened in Eastern Idaho Thursday. Bonneville County got hit the hardest, with emergency units there responding to 34 accidents as of 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Bingham County emergency units responded to about 30 wrecks, Pocatello police responded to 25 and Idaho State Police handled 17. Madison County emergency units responded to 8 wrecks, while Jefferson County had 5. Most Eastern Idaho counties had at least ...

Mike would like to extend his gratitude to the Idaho State Police patrolman who decided to take a drive from Idaho Falls to Boise yesterday right as Mike embarked on the same journey. If there's one drive in Idaho everyone should be forced to make while strictly obeying the speed limit, it's the drive from Pocatello to Boise. The combination of natural beauty, wondrous diversity, and brilliant color was so engaging that Mike had dreams of barreling into one of the scenic giant windmills populating this picturesque corridor of heaven on earth. ...it's possible when Mike says "dreams" he actually means "fantasies". ...it's also possible Mike is not grateful to the patrolman.
Drug arrests came in droves this past week as the Idaho State Police engaged in a traffic safety emphasis patrol on Interstate 86 between American Falls and Pocatello Regional Airport.
