When someone mentions the Washington Nationals, many people think of the Presidents' Race at Nationals Park! Others may think of players like Stephen Strasburg, Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman. Led by Manager Davey Johnson, the 2012 Washington Nationals were an exciting bunch...they led the majors with a 98-64 record (50-31 at home, 48-33 on the road)! They also clinched the first postseason berth for the nation's capital since the 1933 Washington Senators went to the World Series! There was concern about the Nats, especially when Stephen Strasburg was shut down after September 8 due to an innings count...but the team as a whole stepped up! Gio Gonzalez led the Nats with 21 wins while Strasburg added 15! Tyler Clippard had 32 saves to lead the bullpen! Adam Laroche had 33 HR and 100 RBI to lead the offense...Ian Desmond and Ryan Zimmerman added 25 HR apiece, and Bryce Harper hit 22 in his first full season in the bigs...Harper also brought tremendous defense with him! Once the Nationals clinched the NL Ea ...
Davey Johnson got manager of the year, Bryce Harper got rookie of the year, Ian Desmond and Adam Laroche got silver sluggers, and Laroche...
I like this whole thing where Nationals players are winning awards and stuff. Tally so far- Davey Johnson: NL Manager of the Year, Bryce Harper: NL Rookie of the Year, Ian Desmond, Adam Laroche, and Stephen Strasburg with Silver Sluggers. Lets see if we have a Cy Young coming up.
If Bernanke is Davey Johnson, is Kocherlakota the Fed's Ian Desmond? Yellen the Jayson Werth?

Gio! Cy Young winner! Ian Desmond..By FAR the best shortstop in baseball..Adam Laroche by far 1st team on the the Majors player of the year at postions for a 1st baseman and I'm CERTAIN a Gold Glove is headed your way..Bryce Harper...You have run away with rookie of the year...! Best and not least.Davey Johnson...Your team was supposed to be 1 year away...If ANY other Mgr get's 1 single vote as Mgr of the year it will be sickening...You have taken the youngest team in baseball and they are the favorites to win it all..Go get it then bring Strasburg back next year so we can sit and laugh for a very long time! Go Nat's!

Harper nuts...read on... With a 5-4 walkoff win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, thanks to a two-run home run by shortstop Ian Desmond, the Nationals snapped a five-game losing streak on Wednesday. Teenage phenom Bryce Harper helped spark the ninth-inning rally with a leadoff double off the center field wall. Sure, it was the team’s first win in past six games, and only the first time they’ve won with him in the lineup, but based on his contributions on Wednesday alone – two doubles, two runs scored, an all-hustle single and an aggressive slide into home – teammates continue to rave about him. Enough, it seems, can’t be said about what energy a 19-year old has injected into this team and, particularly, its lineup. “Here’s a 19-year-old kid that’s getting the bat out,” Manager Davey Johnson said. “It’s infectious. It hurts you a little bit missing your three and four-hole hitters, because when they start doing it, it kind of flows. But seeing a 19-year-old hitting seventh come along and ...
