There isn't much good to say about wealthy dog track owner and Republican Tom Rooney, who represents a huge rural chunk of central Florida southwest of Orlando, east of Tampa Bay and north of Fort Myers-- FL-17, basically Highlands, Glades, Okeechobee, Charlotte, Hardee, DeSoto counties and bits of Polk, Manatee, Hillsborough and Lee counties. He got into Congress by beating scandal-ridden Blue Dog Tim Mahoney (who only managed to win because of the Tom Foley scandal). Since being elected in 2008, Rooney's ProgressivePunch score is a dismal 3.01 (out of 100). He's made a name for him as a virulent Islamaphobe and came to the national attention for his vicious, boneheaded and McCarthyite attacks on Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin. He's also known as the anti-Justin Amash, attacking the libertarian congressman from Michigan who stands up for things Rooney doesn't care about (like the Constitution and individual rights). No one in Congress takes him seriously except his pals, Louie Gohmert, Michele Bachmann ...

Michele Bachmann, Louie Gohmert, Trent Franks, Lynn Westmoreland, and Tom Rooney fired off those five letters to various Inspectors General back on June 13th. Based on all that has transpired to this point, we thought it a worthy endeavor to chronicle the individuals / entities that have come out in support of Huma Abedin and against Bachmann. Once you look at the list – which we will attempt to keep updated – a profile of an Abedin supporter begins to emerge. Before we itemize the list of shame that includes the names of individuals who will one day find themselves firmly planted on the wrong side of history, it’s important to identify those who have come down on the righteous side of this battle. Beyond Bachmann, et. al., they include former Spea ...
Corey Mondello shared the following link and had this to say about it: And today Barton again demonstrated the fundamental disregard he has for facts or accuracy when he and co-host Rick Green welcomed Rep. Louie Gohmert onto "WallBuilders Live" to defend the witch hunt that he and several other Republicans members of Congress launched against Huma Abedin under the guise of investigating the Muslim's Brotherhood'...
These people need to RESIGN Rep. Michele Bachmann, (R) Minnesota. Rep. Louie Gohmert, (R) Texas. Rep. Trent Franks, (R) Arizona. Rep. Tom Rooney, (R) Florida. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, (R) Georgia. They all signed the letter authored by Michele Bachmann. These people do not need to be in Congress, for their RACIST views and out right lies and character assassination of Secretary of State Hiliary Clinton`s top aid Huma Abedin, whom Bachmann and her co-signers allege has ties to the hard-line Islamic group through her family.
Allegations that Huma Abedin has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood are “pretty dangerous,” Speaker John Boehner said Thursday. Five House Republicans — Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Trent Franks of Arizona, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Tom Rooney of Florida and Lynn Westmoreland of ...

When in doubt, there's always Islamophobia By Steve Benen The Maddow Blog can one tell for sure that there's an election coming up? Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is busy trying to generate new fears about Muslims. Alex Seitz-Wald took a look at the right-wing lawmaker's new conspiracy theory, which is every bit as ridiculous as the previous ones. The Minnesota Republican, joined by Republican Reps. Trent Franks, Louie Gohmert, Thomas Rooney and Lynn Westmoreland, sent letters to the Inspectors General of five government agencies responsible for national security to demand they investigate infiltration by the Muslim Brotherhood into the highest reaches of the federal government. In particular, Bachmann singled out Huma Abedin, the wife of former congressman Anthony Weiner and a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. In case Abedin hasn't already been through enough already, Bachmann is now questioning her loyalty to the U.S. by asserting that Abedin has three family members who are connected to ...
