If you recall the old Hollywood Squares show, this will bring a tear to your eyes. They are worth the time it takes to read them. These great questions and answers are from the days when "Hollywood Squares" game show responses were spontaneous and clever, not scripted and (often) dull as they are now. Peter Marshall was the host asking the questions, of course. The younger readers among you won't know who some of these people are. Go ask your parents (or grandparents)! Q. Do female frogs croak? A. Paul Lynde: If you hold their little heads under water long enough. Q. If you're going to make a parachute jump, at least how high should you be? A. Charley Weaver: Three days of steady drinking should do it. Q. True or False, a pea can last as long as 5,000 years. A. George Gobel: Boy, it sure seems that way sometimes. Q. You've been having trouble going to sleep. Are you probably a man or a woman? A. Don Knotts: That's what's been keeping me awake. Q. According to Cosmo, if you meet a stranger at a party and y ...

He is currently playing a disc jockey who gets laid on the air for in his first film, FM. (An appearance in Oh, God!, in which he briefly stepped in for John Denver—whom he has called "the Poland of music"—was cut from the final print.)

The only thing worse than wasting time watching TV, is wasting time thinking about how much time you waste watching TV. Last night I dreamed I was talking to someone about the various TV shows we've most enjoyed over the years. I noted that as a parent I complain about how much TV my kids watch, but in my own life I've spent an enormous amount of time in front of the TV. So this morning I started compiling a list of the many TV shows I've considered "must-see TV" at various times in my life. Here is my list, what's on yours? The Ed Sullivan Show; Get Smart; My Favorite Martian; Room 222; Time Tunnel; Love, American Style; The Monkees; Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom; Dark Shadows; The Flintstones; Mission Impossible; ABC's Wide World of Sports; Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color; Hogan's Heroes; Sesame Street; Laugh-In; The Wild, Wild West; The Bennie Hill Show; Jeopardy; Hollywood Squares; The Six Million Dollar Man; Welcome Back, Kotter; I, Claudius; Upstairs, Downstairs; The Bob Newhart Show; All i ...

Today in seminary we played Hollywood Squares. Our squares consisted of youth leaders, returned missionaries, full time missionaries, a bishop, former seminary teachers, etc. The teacher who was the host was GREAT! We had the music from the actual tv show, and a video introduction of our celebrities, and even energetic dancing from him! We reviewed (learned) some of the finer details of the Book of Mormon ( I didn't know that the river Sedona ran past Zarahemla! ;) ) Thanks to whom ever posted this idea, and got our creative juices flowing. We has fun.
March 30. What a great day to be born. It is the 27th birthday of my gorgeous and brilliant daughter, Lauren Nicole. Among those who should be, and no doubt are, honored to share a birthday with her are... Norah Jones Tracy Chapman Warren Beatty Eric Clapton Celine Dion M C Hammer Vincent Van Gogh Sonny Boy Williamson Rolf Harris (Tie me kangaroo down, sport) John Astin (The original Gomez Addams) Astrud Gilberto (the girl from Ipanema) Paul Reiser Frankie Lane Pierre Lacock (Peter Marshall of Hollywood Squares and father of Pete Lacock - formerly of the Kansas City Royals) Yes... a banner day to be born... And I love you, and wish you a very happy birthday, Lauren!

Last night's Hollywood Squares was one of history's worst engineering failures. Scott Baio, the Blossom cast, & 3 Vine celebrities perished.
Braved the snow and ice to go down to Pittsburgh and see "Wicked" today. The was the 4th time I've seen it, and I enjoy it every time. This time, I had a seat in the second row from the stage and I was really impressed by the details that went into the costuming and stage sets. John Davidson, of "That's Incrdible!", "$100,000 Pyramid" and "Hollywood Squares" fame played the Wizard in this production, and the girl playing Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) was probably the best I've seen in the role.
You know, Gilbert Gottfried really was the worst part of Hollywood Squares.

Better take the Flying Sub, Lee. Take Kawalski with you. Everything depends on you finding those Celeb Birthdays!: Actor Ken Berry hits the big 8-0, as does former Presidential candidate Michael Dukakis; "And Me, I'm Shadoe Stevens", the former Hollywood Squares announcer turns 67; Lulu sings "To Sir, with Love" as she is 65; Roseanne Barr yuks it up at 61; Kathy Kinney of "Drew Carey" fame is 60, as is Dennis "I am out of here" Miller and actress Kate Capshaw; Adam Ant is a goody two-shoes as he blows out 59 candles; and finally, everything Dolph lUndgren touches, he destroys, so keep him away from his 58th Birthday cake. Happy Birthday one and all!
"Hollywood Squares" is four degrees of separation. It's played with either 2 or 4 people. If 2 are playing one starts and they take turns but the other has to complete the "square". If 4 play (foreplay?) someone starts and whoever wants to goes next etc. but the last one must finish the square---WTH??? Here's an example: Shirley McLaine was in Terms of Endearment with Debra Winger--who was in An Officer & a Gentleman with Richard Gere--who was in Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts--who was in Steel Magnolias with Shirley McLaine. If my movies are too old school I'll try to get more current but I haven't seen anything new in a long time. I'll even let you go first. Maybe I have too much time on my hands, huh? If you don't start the game then I will, putting you in the cleanup position!
Pete Lacock was son of Peter Marshall of Hollywood Squares!
Did Mike Tirico really just drop a Hollywood Squares reference? FTW! ;p
You gotta be a bit older to remember Hollywood Squares and Paul Lynde.here are some quotes. Peter Marshall is the host. Peter Marshall: What are "dual purpose" cattle good for that other cattle aren't? Paul Lynde: They give milk and cookies...but I don't recommend the cookies! Peter Marshall: Paul, why do *** s Angels wear leather? Paul Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles too easily. Peter Marshall: True or false...research indicates that Columbus liked to wear bloomers and long stockings. Paul Lynde: It's not easy to sign a crew up for six months... Peter Marshall: According to the French Chef, Julia Child, how much is a pinch? Paul Lynde: Just enough to turn her on... Peter Marshall: It is considered in bad taste to discuss two subjects at nudist camps. One is politics. What is the other? Paul Lynde: Tape measures. Peter Marshall: True or false, the navy has trained whales to recover objects a mile deep. Paul Lynde: At first they tried unsuccessfully with cocker spaniels...

This is the update 80's version of Hollywood Squares called, "The New Hollywood Squares". It ran from, 1986-89. It was ok, but not as thrilling as the orig. version. It also had the new host, John Davidson, + also N the center square, Joan Rivers (who became a center square N the latter part of season 2, then all the way N the final season), + also that zany actor, Jim J. Bullock (who started N that sitcom with the late Ted Knight called, "Too Close For Comfort"), & also, Shadow Stevens (who is also the announcer), & from time 2 time, that sassy alien by the name of, ALF. I still watch it on the YouTube from time 2 time, but the orig. version I will always like the most. :)
