Higher Power & Jesus Christ
Higher Power is a term coined in the 1930s in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and is used in other twelve-step programs. Jesus of Nazareth (7–2 BC/BCE to 30–36 AD/CE), also referred to as Jesus Christ or simply Christ, is the central figure of Christianity and is also regarded as an important prophet of God in Islam./5

All are welcome! ADDICTIONS VICTORIOUS IN CHRIST: THURSDAY 7PM Fellowship Baptist Church of Coney Island 2929 W20 St (between Surf Ave and Mermaid Ave) Brooklyn, NY, 11224 www.ConeyFBC.com The Addictions Victorious In Christ Ministry is a ministry that has gone beyond AA in the sense that on every hand Jesus Christ is boldly stated to be the Higher Power. Yes, Christ is the power for a man or woman to turn away from alcohol or drugs, but Christ is so much more. He is our elder Brother Who comes alongside us to encourage and convict us, not only in terms of addictions to alcohol and drugs, but also with respect to addictions throughout our lives. Lovingly but also severely Jesus Christ demands to be Lord over all of our lives. He will work with us and on us until we joyfully submit to Him in every respect. There in total submission to Him do we experience all the blessings that Christ has for us as a congregation and also as individuals. The Christian leaders work with every person, gently appealing to eac ...
copied from Pastor John baker..frmm "Life's Healing Choices" Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him, and that He has the power to help me recover. “Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4) Let’s look at what the word HOPE means in Principle 2: H stands for HIGHER Power. Our Higher Power is the one and only true Higher Power and He has a name: Jesus Christ! O which stands for OPENNESS to change. P the POWER to change. E EXPECT to change If you will put the faith you have in Jesus, your life will be changed! You will find hope in the only Higher Power, Jesus Christ. His Spirit will come with supernatural power into your heart. It can happen to you! It happened to me! Hope will give you the courage to reach out and hold Christ’s hand and face the present with confidence and the future with realistic expectancy. Simply put, my life without Christ is a hopeless end; with Him it is an endless hope.
“The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through 8 Recovery Principles. By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power – Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.” from Pastor John Baker
Ayana George is an anointed psalmist, born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Although she was not raised in church, Ayana always knew there was a Higher Power controlling her life. As a senior in high school, Ayana was introduced to that Higher Power by fellow classmates and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Although Ayana George had discovered her ability to sing during earlier years, it was then that she realized her voice was a gift from God, to be used for His glory. The word of God says “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men” Proverbs 18:16. This scripture has manifested itself in the life of Ayana George. She has been blessed to work in ministry with gospel “greats” such as Shirley Caesar, Yolanda Adams, Karen Clark-Sheard, J.Moss, Donald Lawrence, Kim Burrell, Marvin Sapp, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong to name a few. Her recording credits include C.D. Hawkins & Singers (“A Mighty Fortress”), James Hall and Worship & Praise (1999 Christmas rel .. ...

About one year ago, there was this Doctor that signed a paper stating that I had less than 90 days to live. Now Doc’s are smart people don’t get me wrong, but they are just men, subject to fallibility, as are we all. Plans were made, clothes picked out, plots bought, songs thought of, air flights checked into, etc. There is a Force, Higher Power, Supreme Being, I prefer God, Father of Jesus Christ my Savior, who decided he wasn’t quite ready to call me home. Now a year has passed, and I am still here, sorry Doc. I thought I had a relationship with God before I became ill. I never knew the peace and solace I found in him during what I thought were my final days left here on this earth. Resolute faith in him has been instilled in my life beyond anything I could possibly have imagined. And looking at them Jesus said to them, "With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." -Matthew 19:26
