First, I don't know about other High Schools but my High School did this already so it seems odd that we need a law "allowing" it now. Second, I have my reservations about this new law. 1) Who will teach the courses, English instructors or Pastors/Chaplains (as was the case at my HS)? 2) If you support this would you also support allowing a Qur'an Study course? 3) If not, why? More and more I feel that these matters ought to be left to the church alone.

Eleven bands from five High Schools particiapted and I was able to critique four of them verbally. All the groups were good, but the Bufflalo HS Concert Band conducted by Scott Rabehl was superb. It's not often a group scores 40 out of 40 from me. The two pieces they played were "With Each Sunset" by Richard Saucedo and "Of Sailors and Whales" by W. Francis McBeth. This band not only had great low brass and fine double reeds, but the most musical cymbal crashes and timpani playing I have heard from a HS school group in a long time.

All parents are welcome Day: Thursday February 28th Time: 7:30 p.m - 9:00 p.m District Attorney Kathleen Rice is bringing the message about driving safety to Nassau County’s High Schools. The Choices and Consequences program is an interactive High School presentation designed to combat drunk, drugged and reckless driving. The District Attorney’s goal is to reduce injuries and deaths in this most vulnerable age group. Traffic crashes are the number one cause of death for young people between the ages of 15 and 24. The 90 minute program is based on a “reality TV” model that relies on real cases, real evidence and real people from cases to break through natural teenage invincibility to teach life-saving lessons. The program is divided into 3 segments: information, a skit and climaxing with defendant and/or victim speakers.

"Freak" takes a serious look as student Zeke views bullying as a side show which he can not escape. Aside from the serious nature of the play, it is amazing to me how young actors/actresses always put on a production that is superb. We may view sports where teams are built but theatre productions build character and team work like nothing else. Glad to see most High Schools still promote theatre--more importantly that young students take up the opportunity.

![]() Do High Schools have organized shooting teams in the U.S.? For young athletes interested in shooting sports, there are a variety of options to choose from. High Schools: Some states have organized High School shooting leagues, but the programs vary by state. Typically, athletes can take part in varsity High School shooting teams on campus or through the JROTC program. Community Organizations: Community based organizations like the Boy Scouts of America, American Legion and 4-H clubs have shooting programs for youth. A great resource in finding an organization near you is the National Rifle Association (NRA) web site. Shooting Affiliated Members: USA Shooting has a strong family of affiliated shooting clubs nationwide. If your local club would be interested in becoming a member organization, visit the club membership section of our web site for details.

![]() Dear to whom it may concern, Four years ago in May I graduated High School with high expectations of pursuing a successful future in art after earning a college degree. After graduation, I went to East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) to earn my degree with Elementary education and become an art teacher. After one semester I chose to change careers and move to Murray State University. It was a bumpy path and I discovered that my college credits from ETBU were not able to transfer due because ETBU was a private college. No big deal, I started my classes like I had no credits. After a month and half, I got a letter saying that I was not able to qualify for assistance. The reason was that I was not a resident of any state. That was indeed true. I had to move and switch High Schools in the middle of my senior year at the age of 18. So after many letters and stress I left Murray State owing over $8,000. Over all I owed close to $50,000 in student loans and no college credits. I took a break from colleg ...

![]() I don't know about you, but I grew up in the 90's in Edmonton, Alberta. There was no special schools for Indians or anything, just skid-row for reference and a place to see other Indians. Then sadly enough, I traveled to a lot of High Schools across Edmonton (a different every year a total of three years). I was the only Indian to graduate on the West End of Edmonton. Want to know how I got there, by moving unpredictable (different routes to and from school), keeping my head down in front of cops, leaving white women and girls alone (cops thought no harm done), and telling people I was into the white way. Bottom-line, I lied to their face, I was Lakota Traditional Religion, and I looked at brown skinned girls when I knew they weren't aware. Other minority groups helped me in my plight, cause they knew if it wasn't Indians, the apartheid would seek them out. Keep it real, unless you roll up on me with VICE or the SWAT, you won't know!

![]() IMPROVING EDUCATION IN BULILIMA-MANGWE Good morning friends. Lets talk, I think i have an idea of how to improve education in Bulilima-Mangwe: that we change our schools into two systems - Academic and Vocational Streams. THE ACADEMIC STREAM I propose that the Academic Stream be for what we can call the more gifted students who want to go directly into university and study to be Lawyers, Accountants, Doctors, Political Scientists, Scientists, etc. These ones we find scholarships for them to attend the bigger High Schools that we already have - Dombodema, Embakwe, Empandeni, Thekwane, Plumtree High, etc. Then we pump a lot of resources into these schools developing Libraries, Labs, Computer Labs, finding the finest teachers, etc. THE VOCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL STREAM This stream will be for those who do not want to go directly into University but to study Vocationals from Auto Engineering, Food & Nutrition, Cutting & Design, Electrical Engineering, Agriculture, Buiding & Construction, etc. Let me state that t ...
![]() History The dance was first called "Apaazee Renetta Kojo" (which means work) by the people of Bukom. However, the term 'azonto' (a name which was given to the dance by the people of Tema) was popularly used by students of The Accra Academy to refer to life and later became accepted by the larger population as the name for the dance. The dance now known as Azonto was later observed in an evolved form among 'street communities' in Agona Abodom, Abossey Okai, Takoradi and certain suburbs of Accra (namely Korle-Gonno, La and Chorkor), in pubs, night clubs, & dance battles. Perhaps because of its apparent use of strength and vigor, and preference of the then popular and more sophisticated "crip walk" and "break dance" known in Ghana as 'cracking' in High Schools, the dance was seen as being less refined than alternate styles.

![]() I was just sitting home thinking about the good old days back in Suffolk,Va.I remember the Christmas parades with the High Schools marching Bands. And much to my delight I use too love the JKF Marching Band they would be getting it on.If I'm not mistaken the drum major was Preston Barrett and that brother put on a show.Remember the Fair at the Fair Ground and the fun and amusement it brought to the community.Man,what I would give to have the kids of today,to have a chance to experience the village raising us with respect for our elders.I'm thankful for my foundation and growing up like I did.Nothing in my Life is more rewarding than the memories birth in my childhood. ![]() Luke is a principal at one of the Jr. High Schools in Bakersfield, CA. However, he majored in history and taught for several years before becoming principal. His words have brought more comfort and peace to my mind after reading them and I thought you would enjoy them too. ."The nation lost out on a good man tonight, not the best candidate, but a good man. As I tucked the boys into bed and Kate retired to lay with Scout, I was thinking of the outcome. I immediately thought of Valley Forge and the words of Thomas Paine. Just as the patriots entered the encampment beat up, defeated and hopeless, I retired to my bedroom with the same feelings. Sure my feet were not bloody, my home was warm, and I was only beat up mentally, but my disappointment and sense of hopelessness was equalled. My several months of campaigning, engaged in political discourse, and at times hostile, tonight's result made me feel it was all for not. However, just as the young patriots felt beat up, they walked in with literally no shoes o ...

![]() Please vote for NC Justice Paul Martin Newby on Nov 6th. The attacks on Justice Paul Newby are insulting and totally unfounded. Justice Newby’s only agenda is the rule of law as evidenced by the citizen led iCaucus endorsement, the NC Bar Association’s "John McNeill Smith Jr. Constitutional Rights and Responsibilities Section Award,” selection by the Library of Congress to teach the rule of law to foreign judges, and the only candidate to write a book on the NC Constitution. ![]() History books in government run schools are the reason we elect people like Barack Hussein Obama. They teach nothing of all the sacrifices made by great Americans of the past. They promote a liberal agenda that would haunt our country for the next 100 years. They teach that because of government we are great. Most of us who know better knows it our people who make America great not government. Until we get involved and know what our public schools are teaching our children, then and only then will this trend be broken. Hitler knew that the future of Nazi Germany rested in the education of those children. If they wanted to win the future they had to win their children. Now we know why Barack Hussein Obama spent the last four years at our High Schools, Colleges and Universities. He wants to win our children.

![]() Next Generation Ministry September 2012 mission visit to the Solomon Islands was very successful. We visited 20 High Schools in 14 days and the Teachers College and was able to preach the Gospel in 5 of the schools. The response was much better than I expected as nearly all the science teachers were very interested in what I had to tell them about the evidence for special creation in opposed to the theory of evolution. One science teacher named Kevin Sese from King George V1 High School in Honiara was pleading with me to give him some resources there and then. I have ordered 200 of the creation books called The Answers Book and 30 of the more technical books called Refuting Evolution. These books will be given to all the High Schools in the Solomon’s as permanent resource so that they are able to teach creation alongside evolution. Also we will be able to give all new student teachers a copy of the Answers Book so that when they are sent out to their school they will be equipped with the truth. While I ...

![]() My father gave most of his life in service of his country. He served 22 years active duty in the US Navy. He also taught ROTC at various High Schools as a navel reservist. His squadron took pictures of the Missiles in Cuba. He sent many students in to various branches of the armed services and to different Military academies. I voted for Regan way back when because I felt at the time he was gonna be strong for our military and as a rule it looks like the Republicans usually seem to stand for doing just that. Now a days I am not so sure this is the thing to do. ALL I'M SAYING is be careful. Some people seem to want to vote republican because they seem to be Christians that want to preserve that way of life...they are usually for the NRA and want to help us keep our guns... really that's what we need?. The GOP, Most of which have signed the oath to Grover Norquist. If we had plenty of money in our treasury we wouldn't have a high debt( Mostly to the SS fund). Unfunded wars and tax cuts and loss of jobs are the cause. Where did the money end up? I hate to say what is so obvious, The money went to the top. Corporations are at a record high in profits. IE Jobs shipped oversees, lower wages, Tax loopholes. GE paid no taxes. All we need to do is find a way to increase revenue!!! We the people have to get involved. If our Representative are not doing there jobs, VOTE THEM OUT. Make sure civics is required in our High Schools. Most of our citizens do not know who the Secretary of defense is. Leon Planatta!! For example, in Amy Nelson’s Geometry class, they use an internet browser, Mobicip, to access the teacher’s PowerPoint notes, an online textbook, and homework assignments. Students can capture a screen shot of the teacher’s presentation using an app called Bamboo Paper and then write notes directly on the math problem. Nelson’s class also uses the app Math Terms to define vocabulary and Flashcards, “Quizlet” or Study Blue to create virtual flashcards. Within the first week, students were using their iPads to scan QR codes to access information about the events of 9/11, they were writing their lab reports for chemistry, drawing cats in art class, journaling in American L ...
![]() Swim Homecoming Float: This Wednesday is an early release day for all High Schools - so there will be no practice on that day. The Homecoming parade is open for all clubs/sports/organizations to make floats to drive through the parking lot. I thought it would be neat for the Swim Team to make a float. We would need a trailer to decorate (I have a vehicle to pull it). If someone does not have access to one, I'm sure we can rent one for a day or two. On Wednesday the team will be responsible for making the decorations that will go on the float. Almost all of the clubs and sports are planning on making something that will drive through the Homecoming parade. The parade will be at RHS parking lot (by the ROPES course) and will start at 7:00 pm. The floats will start lining up at 6:30 pm. I have a few ideas that would be relatively easy to put together, any ideas/suggestions are welcome!
![]() Chicago Teacher's Strike Reason 13 Teacher Evaluation. When I taught the in the dark ages the Nuns from the Mother House who taught in High Schools came to the grade schools to evaluate the staff. So we had a professional who knew what progress kids needed to make and what criteria for making that progress should be judged. Was it a subjective system that could be and was abused, but . Second grade Chicago teacher Krystal Brown said one of the biggest issues for her in the negotiations was evaluations. She said oftentimes, students land in her classroom one to two grade levels behind and even if they improve by a year, her evaluation would only show they didn't meet grade level. Students in her South Side classroom deal with hunger, poverty and learning disabilities, and her classroom has just two working computers.

![]() It really deedpns on the area. If you live in a big state like Texas or Florida you would get cut right away because their varsity teams are mostly 5 handicap golfers or better and their junior varsity can usually shoot in the high 70s and low 80s. If you work hard and improve your scores it won't matter because people that can shoot in the 70s will make a team. I live in New Hampshire and this past year I was 5th on my varsity team with an average of about 48 on 9 holes. (This is awful for me or anyone really.) I have only been playing golf for a little over a year and a half and we had a crappy team but this year my average is a 41 (83 on 18 holes) and I am second on the team. I live in a small state so there is not as many stellar golfers as in big states. I suggest you go and try out because if you make it, great. If you don't make it it isn't the end of the world because you tried and if you can break 90 you are already better than about half the golfers in the world. Good luck!
![]() As many of you know, it is that time of the year again! What time you might ask? Well it’s not only football season for the High Schools and Junior High Schools, but for the Texas Youth Football Association as well, which we are a part of. When I say “WE”, I am referring to the Raymondville Sports Foundation. Many of you might not know what the Raymondville Sports Foundation is so let me take a few minutes to explain. The Raymondville Sports Foundation is a non-profit organization formed by a few of my friends and I. Unfortunately, we do not have a Parks & Recreation Department or a Boys & Girls Club here in Raymondville. In 2006, we would take our kids to participate in organized sports all the way to Harlingen because we did not have any organized sports here in Raymondville or Willacy County except Little League Baseball, which is from February to June. I kept thinking how it wasn’t fair that only my kid was able to enjoy the perks of organized sports and how I thought every kid should have the ...

It is from the book Obama wrote about himself called "DREAMS FROM MY FATHER" -THOSE DREAMS FROM HIS MUSLIM PHILANDERING FATHER ARE AN AMERICAN A NIGHTMARE BASED ON COLONIALISM AND BRINGING DOWN AMERICA. I love what our dearest Claire said after we all joined hands and prayed FOR America, in the lobby of the Westpark theater. She said, something like, " how wonderful that we believers have the "PROMISES OF OUR FATHER" - Got to thinking, the promises are no small thing - there is power in the word, there is a place for us to stand in the word, it is His word that NEVER RETURNS VOID, it is His word that prospers where He sends it and Psalm 119 pretty much describes how awesome His word is and much more of what it does. If they do, they transgress the law and exceed their powers. 'Such acts as they may do in excess of their powers are void, and may be, indeed ought to be, treated as void by the meanest citizen.' The only power which is ultimately sovereign, as the British Parliament is always and directly sovereign, is the people of the States, acting in the manner prescribed by the Constitution, and capable in that manner of passing any law whatever in the form of a constitutional amendment." - The American Commonwealth, For the Use of Colleges and High Schools, by James Bryce, The MacMillan Company, New York, 1944 Imagine being taught in school that any act of law passed outside the bo ...

You'd be hard pressed to find a lone practitioner in a single family home successfully running a medical practice like this today. Even more uncommon was the fact that Dr. Harris' wife worked with him as a nurse in his office. As a somber, sad beginning to a story with a happy ending; many years after my siblings and I had long since “graduated” from Dr. Harris’ practice, his wife took her life. Her body found in the office. I was a sophomore in High School playing for the JV football team. Back in the early 70's the only true freshmen in High School were students that came from parochial school. In a school of over 4000 students only 200-300 were 9th grade freshman.
