Brazil will be going for a fourth straight victory when they face Zambia in Beijing today. The 2014 World Cup host's won their previous friendly on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over South Korea in Seoul, with Neymar free kick and a strike from Oscar ensured a comfortable triumph. The five-time world champions will be without goalkeeper Julio Cesar (finger), defender Thiago Silva (thigh) and striker Fred (thigh) against the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations champions. Luiz Felipe Scolari may opt to give the likes of Alexandre Pato, Ramires and Hernanes an opportunity to start the game, with all three players having been named amongst the substitutes against South Korea. Zambia, meanwhile, heads into the game without a permanent coach after Herve Renard ended his time in charge of the nation to take over at French club Sochaux last week. Renard failed to take the country past the pool stages in World Cup qualifying; finishing second in their group behind Ghana. Zambia's fate was sealed after they lost a final game ...
BEAUMELLE CALLS FOUR MORE, JACOB, MAYUKA ARRIVE. Chipolopolo caretaker coach Patrice Beaumelle has called four more players into the team that is in Beijing ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly match against Brazil. The team has suffered yet another set back with Belgium based striker Roger Kola ruled out due to injury while FC Utrecht’s Jacob Mulenga and Emmanuel Mayuka of FC Sochaux and Emmanuel Mbola have joined camp. Beaumelle has had to make stop gap measures following TP Mazembe’s refusal to release three players-Rainford Kalaba, Stoppilla Sunzu and Nathan Sinkala for national duty saying they are sick. The newly appointed trainer has turned to the local front where he has plucked defenders Chintu Kampamba, Christopher Munthali, Jimmy Chisenga and winger Alex Ng’onga. Kola joins Collins Mbesuma, Mukuka Mulenga and Davies Nkausu in the treatment room. Tuesday’s fixture will be the first assignment for Beaumelle who took over from Herve Renard who has gone back to his native country Fra ...
What a day its been! Nice weather with the first taste of rains capping off the day's events. FAZ anounces Herve Renard's departure. All the best Fox, we will never forget the 2012 AFCON triumph. Finally we can have the likes of Kennedy Mudenda, Reynolds "Sate Sate" Kampamba, Clifford Mulenga and Joseph Sitali in the national team. Time to see Mukuka Mulenga, Fwayo Tembo, Chisamba Lungu and Rainford in a more positive attacking formation for Chipolopolo.
Chelsea Ace Essien Should Be Called ‘sir Essien’ For His Heroics –Zambia Coach Michael Essien impressed on his Ghana return Zambia coach Herve Renard has paid glowing tributes to Ghana midfielder Michael Essien – saying the Chelsea ace ought to be called ‘Sir’ for his sterling performances over the years. The 30-year-old hugely impressed after coming on as a second half substitute to help the Black Stars to a 2-1 win over Zambia who had Herve – a former Ghana assistant coach – on their bench last Friday. Essien was making his first appearance for the Black Stars after a two-year hiatus from international football. Contrary to what many believed – that the former Lyon enforcer had lost a chunk of his energy in recent years and would struggle against the swift Zambians, Essien went on to have probably one of his finest games for both club and country in recent times. The composed and matured performance of the ex Real Madrid stabilized the rocking Ghana midfield at the time the Chipolopolo ...

Zambia name strong squad for Cosafa tourney 21 June 2013 Herve Renard has named a 20-member strong squad which includes nine players who were part of the team which played the last two World Cup Qualifiers matches against Lesotho and Sudan. The squad is scheduled to commence residential camp at the end of next week to continue preparations for the regional soccer show piece which runs from 6th through the 20th of July. The games of the Cosafa Cup Zambia2013 will be played across four venues – Nkoloma Stadium which will host the opening ceremony and first game, Nkana stadium which will host among other matches Zambia’s quarter-final clash against Mozambique, Arthur Davies and Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. Zambia commenced preparations for the southern African Championship several months ago. The Zambian squad has played Zimbabwe and Namibia in preparatory games for the tournament which will also feature guests Kenya and Equatorial Guinea. Zambia will be looking to the tournament for a record equalling fourth ...
STRANDED AGAIN IN THE SOCCER WORLD Zambia we are yet again starnded in the soccer world following our frustration yesterday by Sudan who were falling every time a Zambia player's shadow touched each one of them and more especially their goalkeeper! We have another mathematical qualification yet again following Ghana's 2-nil away win after Zambia's throwing away points against Lesotho in March and Sudan yesterday in Ndola. We shall live yet again to remember the 4 points we have given away for we could have killed this journey on these two games and the Ghana match would have been a mere formality! Two things are going to happen after Zambia plays against Ghana in Kumasi or Accra in September, (1) if Zambia loses that match it simply means no maiden appearance at the 2014 Brazil World Cup Tournament, (2) Herve Renard is leaving Zambia because he said he is going to resign if he fails to qualify Zambia to the 2014 Brazil Tournament. Two things are sure to happen for Ghana will frustrate us in Kumasi or Accr ...
Zambia was held to a 1-1 draw by Sudan in a FIFA World Cup Qualifier in Ndola on Saturday afternoon. Despite the draw, Chipolopolo moved to 11 points - two clear of nearest rivals Ghana who play away in Maseru on Sunday. Chipolopolo play their final qualifier away in Kumasi in September and coach Herve Renard reckons his squad can still go to west Africa and get a result that would help them finish top of Group D when the group phase concludes in about three months time. In discussing Saturday's draw and looking ahead to the final group fixture, Renard says his team's strategies will be determined by the group qualification permutations which will be clearly defined after the Lesotho vs Ghana on Sunday. Coach, your general overview of the game. Obviously this is not a result you were looking for The result has frustrated us. This is not what we wanted. We made one mistake and conceded a stupid goal. We cant talk about the referees, Sudanese tactics or anything because it was entirely our fault. We failed ...
Zambia has won Ghana be4, can win them in Accra and still make it. Watching great Neymar demolish Japan in world confederation cup, I also agree with Herve Renard that chipolopolo has the last chance for Brazil 2014 in Ghana come september. Sorry.
“We don’t have an excuse for losing today’s game. We spent 3 weeks together with fantastic atmosphere in the team. “We had no hunger in da 1st half and missed a lot of chances in da 2nd half. And we conceded silly goal,” ...Herve Renard; a draw feels like a loss to him aswell. We are not yet out of it,we'll only giving in when the fat lady sings!! Football is a crazy game,we might even be celebrating come tomorrow night!
ROCKY RIO ROAD! Zambia walk World Cup tight rope as vengeful Sudan hold wasteful Chipolopolo 1-1 here in Ndola. Jacob Mulenga gave the home side a false start in the 68th minute with a header after some outrageous piece of football by outstanding midfielder turned central defender Kondwani Mtonga only for Sudan to draw level within a blink of an eye to stun a packed Estadio de la Levy. Zambia needs to win in Ghana on September 8 to progress to the next and final round of Brazil 2014 qualifying. When I asked Herve Renard whether Zambia has a team to win in Ghana, the Frenchman said that Zambia were waiting on the result in Lesotho but the team blending despite missing chances today which was disappointing.
Zambian Critics wrote: At the press conference held after the match, coach Herve Renard said everyone will be supporting Lesoth tomorrow since Zambian's destiny lies there. And in answering one of the question asked by journalists, the French Man, otherwise known as the Fox said that he could not say what approach to take in the next game against Ghana in September as they (Ghana) were yet to play Lesotho. SOURCES: CLIFFORD, RENARD RECONCILE... STAR WAS SET TO BE RECALLED BUT HAS SADLY LOST HIS BABY SON IN SA! CHIPOLOPOLO HUMILIATE LESOTHO WITH 4-0 VICTORY, RENARD PRAISES FANS Zambia returned to the top of Group D of the Africa Zone 2014 World Cup qualifiers with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Lesotho at Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday. Jacob Mulenga put the 2012 African Champions ahead in the 36th minute when he superbly turned in Christopher Katongo's cross with an overhead kick from inside the box. Zambia's second came in the 61st minute when skipper and BBC African Footballer of the Year 2012 slotted the ball beyond Mohau Kuenane in goal for Lesotho. Fwayo Tembo Provided the assist after beating several defenders on the left flank. Jacob Mulenga put the game beyond the visitors in the 64th minute after the Lesotho defence failed to clear from a corner played in from the left by line. Collins 'King David' Mbesuma hammered in the final nail in the 84th minute when James Chamanga's effort which had rebounded off the upright fell in his path. Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard was happy with the result and dedicated th ...
A NEW CHIPOLOPOLO WHACKS LESOTHO 4-0: POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES Not since lifting the Africa Cup of Nations in February, 2012 have the Chipolopolo of Zambia showed positive attacking football that they did against Lesotho. They dictated play throughout the match. The coach read the game very well and made three positive changes in attack. Positives 1. Herve Renard departed from his usual defence oriented formation of playing one centre-forward supported by Christopher Katongo to fielding two strikers – Collins Mbesuma and Jacob Mulenga. This time, instead of playing on the counter they took the game to Lesotho and attacked throughout the game. 2. All the substitutions Herve Renard made were all attack-oriented and they improved the forward thrust of the team. Fwayo Tembo came on for Noah Chivuta and held the ball very well and pushed back Likuena’s right back. He was better in possession than Chivuta and his coming on signalled a change in the fortunes of Chipolopolo. James Chamanga replaced Jacob ...
Herve Renard applauds wonderful fans as Chipolopolo cruise to 4-0 thumping of Lesotho Crocodiles "I would like to commend the fantastic support of the fans. Our fans came out and filled the stadium which was fantastic. They created a wonderful atmosphere for us to play and enjoy the game. The fans were fantastic and they deserve to get this result. I want to commend them and encourage them to keep supporting the team because this team has taken a lot of criticism. There have been many bad and negative reports and comments on the team which have not been very fair but the squad responded well. The fans were fantastic and once again, well done to them."
MY GHANAIN FRIENDS CALLED ME ON THEIR RADIO STATION TODAY & I TOLD THEM ZAMBIA WOULD BEAT LESOTHO; THEY LAUGHED! When we beat Sudan, Ghana shiver! Herve Renard has delivered. Well done! Bringing on Fwayo Tembo for Noah Chivuta was a master stroke. Mukuka Mulenga my joint man of the match with namesake Jacob. Kondwani Mtonga calm and Danny Munyao composed. Chris Katongo fantastic. Congratulations Chipolopolo!

Herve Renard goes into this fixture without three key players in injured Stoppilla Sunzu, Rainford Kalaba and the suspended first choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene. But Renard has had time to shuffle his squad and fill the gaps ahead of the crucial match that will be the first of two with the later fixture against Sudan coming up at the same venue on June 15.
coach Herve Renard is aware. that anything less than a win at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium won’t be. welcome.
Five things Chipolopolo need to do to whack Lesotho There are many reasons why Chipolopolo failed to defend its African Nations Cup title in South Africa. We analyse five areas in need of serious attention before Likuena come calling in the second Leg World Cup qualifier slated for Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday, 8th June, 2013: 1. Strong emphasis on Attack Zambia, under coach Herve Renard, tends to feature a lone striker or two upfront. Usually it will be Mbesuma at the top with Christopher Katongo on his shoulder or slightly behind him. Another variation would see Emmanuel Mayuka as the top guy and Christopher Katongo in support. This offensive set-up is wired to counter-attack and is premised on the wingers – Rainford Kalaba and Chisamba Lungu/Fwayo Tembo joining the front men when in attack and Isaac Chansa (previously) pushing up as well. The best combination appears to be Mbesuma and Mayuka, as the latter is a lot more selfless than katongo and has the energy to ran at defences wh .. ...
Zambia has beaten FAZ second tier side Nkwiza 2-1 with goals from Collins Mbesuma and James Chamanga in each half respectively. Herve Renard used two separate teams but it was the one which played in the first half which looked like the starting line. Danny Munyao got the nod in goal with Joseph Musonda, Davies Nkausu, Chris Munthali, and Emmanuel Mbola forming the back while Chris Katongo, Nathan Sinkala, Mukuka Mulenga and Fwayo Tembo were preferred in midfield. Jacob Mulenga and Collins Mbesuma started upfront.
Zambia's coach worry over Kalaba's injury - Herve Renard is keeping his fingers crossed after Rainford Kalaba ...
Chipolopolo beats Nkwiza in final warm up Colin's Mbesuma and James Chamanga scored as Zambia beat division one side Nkwiza 2-1 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium this afternoon. In the team's final practice match before the World Cup qualifier against Lesotho, Chipolopolo looked bright as Herve Renard sent out an attacking formation which had Mbesuma and Jacob Mulenga on top and supported from the midfield by Chris Katongo, Fwayo Tembo and Mukuka Mulenga. Danny Munyau was in goal while the back line had Davis Nkausu at the heart of the Defence and supported by Christopher Munthali with Joseph Musonda and Emmanuel Mbola on the flanks. Nathan Sinkala anchored the defensive midfield line.
KALABA'S ABSENCE AND ITS EFFECT ON CHIPOLOPOLO Chipolopolo influential midfielder, Rainford Kalaba will not play on Saturday against Lesotho due to a calf injury, how does his injury affect the prospects of thedethroned African Champions? Kalaba is a playmaker but occupies a midfield wing role. In other words, he conducts his playmaking duties from the wings. However, when on the ball, he prefers cutting through the middle and picking out passes to the forwards. He is at his most lethal down through the middle effecting his “slide-rule” passes and running off other attackers. In modern football, the wingers play dual roles of defending and attacking. It is when there is demand for players to drop back and help with defending that Kalaba’s limitation in the wing role comes to the fore. It then boggles the mind why Herve Renard has insisted on continuously deploying, arguably Chipolopolo’s most creative cog, on the wings and preferring the more defensive-minded Isaac Chansa in the forward midfi ...
Copy n past MANAGEMENT ON MBESUMA AS ZAMBIA PLAY WITH NKWIZA THIS AFTERNOON IN CAMERA! Collins Mbesuma has missed the last two Chipolopolo training sessions prompting speculation the bulky forward is being protected from breaking down with fitness (injury)issues. With Rainford Kalaba already injury ruled this week (and Stophilla Sunzu out of the next two World Cup qualifiers), the technical bench is not taking any chances on the explosive striker opting to rest the Orlando Pirates star. Meanwhile, the Chipolopolo continue shaping up for Saturday's must win World Cup qualifier against Lesotho with a practice date involving Nkwiza that will not be open to the public or media. Herve Renard is expected to unleash his probable line-up and horn out his tactic approach for the weekend. The Frenchman has the full complement of his squad with China exports captain Cris Katongo and Chamanga James Jcompleting the squad yesterday. Renard looks likely to play Joshua Titima, Chisamba Lungu, Emmanuel Mbola, Kondwani Mto ...
Kalaba ruled out as Sunzu joins camp to boost morale The Master Rainford Kalaba will not be able to play against Lesotho following recommendation by team doctor Joseph Kabungo's instruction to rest the play-maker. Herve Renard will now need to juggle his squad further. More details coming...
Herve Renard drops Nchanga Rangers goalkeeper Rabson Muchelenganga as the race to replace suspended Kennedy Mweene hots up.
RABSON MUCHELEG'ANGA DROPPED ALONGSIDE 3 OTHERS? In an incredible act of inconsistency, Rabson Mucheleg'anga who appeared to be in pole position to face Lesotho has been dropped from the Chipolopolo I understand. It appears the 2 first half goals the Nchanga Rangers minder conceded in an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Nkana on Wednesday has pushed Herve Renard to act. The other three include a natural defender who came in and stabilised the defence in the second half and a holding midfielder who also featured in the lesson Wednesday in Kitwe. The other one remains a mystery for now. It is understood that 4 Nkana players who impressed the Frenchman may join the squad after their league game against Nkwazi on SUNDAY at Edwin Imboela Stadium.
PRESSURE OR ZAMBIA THE REAL AFRICA? RENARD LAMBASTS LEVY MWANAWASA TURF (WILL HE ESCAPE A BAN?) Chipolopolo Boys coach Herve Renard says everyone must contribute to his efforts of trying to qualify Zambia to its maiden World Cup finals in Brazil next year. Renard, who was angered by the poor state of the playing turf at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola said he needed to be helped to answer the higher expectations of the Zambians and the government. The turf at the training pitch is dry making it difficult for players run and control the ball while the playing surface had no markings and the nets were torn. The fertiliser spread on the ground had not sunk into the soil due to lack of water. “When was this stadium built? Only a year and half? People and the government expect a lot from me, but I also need help. Look at the pitch,” Renard said. “Is this a World Cup pitch? Everyone must be involved, everyone must contribute and that means the maintenance team of this pitch must keep it in shape for u ...
SINGULUMA SCORES AGAIN AS CHIPOLOPOLO RE-GROUP...EVANS KANGWA RETURNS? Over-looked striker Given Singuluma yesterday contributed a goal in T. P Mazembe's 4-0 win over Molunge. Singuluma had scored in another 4-0 win over Mozambican club Mulcamana on May 19. The 26-year old was the only Zambian that featured in the league match. As Singuluma, was scoring, Collins Mbesuma, Joseph Musonda, Kennedy Mweene, Davies Nkausu, Emmanuel Mayuka and Kalaba Rainford (missed Mazembe's game due to a reported injury) beefed Chipolopolo joining 10 local players-Rabson Rabson Mucheleng'anga, Danny Munyao, Davy Kaumbwa, Jimmy Chisenga, Bronson Chama, Kondwani Mtonga, Mukuka Mulenga, Bornwell Mwape, Alex Ngonga and Shadreck Malambo that were in camp in Ndola. Meanwhile, Herve Renard has roped in Nkana's Donashano Malama and Kabwe Warriors' Keagan Bwalya to help with training in the absence of Nathan Sinkala and Hichani Himoonde who are preparing for the return leg against Mulcamana in Maputo this Saturday in the CAF Club Conf ...
MALITOLI BACKS CHANSA COMEBACK Isaac Chansa Has been told not to despair after being dropped by Renard Ex-Zambia star defender Mordon Malitoli tells Zanaco midfielder Isaac Chansa not to despair after Herve Renard dropped him for June's 2014 qualifiers. Renard dropped Chansa together with two other regulars for Zambia’s June 8 and 15 Group D qualifiers against Lesotho and Sudan respectively due to lack of competitive league action. Striker Jonas Sakuwaha of TP Mazembe and Israel-based midfielder William Njobvu are the others dropped together with the ex-Orlando Pirates player. The 1994 Africa Cup star told MTNFootball.com that he believes the versatile Chansa can overcome the setback and bounce back to the team. "It is not the end of the World. These things happen in football all the time," Malitoli said. "He is back playing at home now and this will give him a greater chance to focus and fight for his return to the team in front of the home fans." Chansa had until early May been clubless since leaving ...
Renard names 25 for Qualifiers against Lesotho and Sudan With a call for the country to support the team, Herve Renard has called a 25-man strong team with 10 players from the MTN Super League making the squad which will compete for maximum points against Lesotho and Sudan as Chipolopolo look to consolidate its top spot in Group D of the Africa zone FIFA World Cup Brazil2014 Qualifiers. The squad sets the camp Monday evening for commencement of training Tuesday 28th May. Skipper Chris Katongo leads the assemblage which sees the return of James Chamanga, Noah Chivuta and Jacob Mulenga – all of whom missed the last qualifier against Lesotho. The squad has four goalkeepers - Kennedy Mweene, Danny Munyau, Rabson Muchelegenga and Davy Kaumbwa. “June is a very important month for the qualifiers and our aspirations of winning Qualifying Group D and going onto to the final play-off round for us to retain our nation’s dreams of maiden FIFA World Cup qualification. We are confident that with this selection, t ...
IT IS DAVY OR RABBY FOR LESOTHO AS DANNY IS DROPPED! Herve Renard has given the clearest indication yet on suspended Kennedy Mweene's replacement for the crucial Lesotho World Cup qualifier by leaving Danny Munyao out of the 20-man squad facing Namibia in a friendly in Windhoek tomorrow. Others dropped include Zesco Utd winger Kangwa Chileshe and Zanaco midfielders Rodric Kabwe (injured) and Salulani Phiri.
Zambian Football KICKOFF Renard considers dropping Chansa, Mbola Chipolopolo trainer Herve Renard is mauling over the idea of dropping influential and key midfielder Isaac Chansa together with Portugal based left back Emmanuel Mbola, Zambian Football understands. And it is also understood that the ‘Fox’ has been in touch with Dutch based striker Jacob Mulenga, who hinted last week that quitting international football was not on his mind even after getting little game time during the African Cup of Nations in South Africa. With Jacob’s availability confirmed, the Frenchman has one of his toughest decisions to make in the last 12 months. FAZ Spokesperson Erick Mwanza declined to discuss the World Cup squad saying the announcement would be made during a press conference on Friday. The weekly press briefing which was supposed to be held at Football House this morning has since been put off. While he took a swipe at TP Mazembe for keeping most Zambian players inactive, Renard’s comments seemed to have ...
Chansa, Mbola & Njobvu could be axed. Herve Renard is thinking of Axing the three as they have been receiving little or no game time. Isaac Chansa turned down a move to NAPSA STARS and opted for Supersport where his wage demands could not be met by the PSL club, Mbola is not getting any gametime in the Porto reserves and William Njobvu has no club after his contract with his former club in Isreal expired. Herve Renard has named a provisional 19 man squad to play against Lesotho in a Brazil2014 qualifier later this month
Herve Renard calls promising Zanaco midfielder Roderick Kabwe but drops veterans Noah Chivuta and James Chamanga for Lesotho game. The 23-year-old Zanaco midfielder is one of four home-based players in the 19-member team called-up for Zambia’s 2014 World Cup Group D qualifier away to Lesotho on March 24 in Maseru. Kabwe, 23 has been recalled after some impressive performances in recent CAF Champions League and local cup action for Zanaco and has taken the early lead on the 2013 top scorers’ charts with two goals from three games. The midfielder, who has five caps since making his debut against India in 2011, returns to the fold after failing to make the cut for Zambia's provisional team for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. However, there will not be a much-anticipated return of striker Fwayo Tembo of Romanian club Astra Giurgiu despite enjoying a rebound in form in Europe. And Renard has dropped veterans Chivuta of Free State Stars, China-based striker Chamanga and Chintu who is currently clubless. Gol ...

Super Eagles rising star defender Kenneth Omeruo says Zambia’s coach Herve Renard was short-sighted in his poor rating of Nigeria. Zambia coach Renard last week said that the current Super Eagles team was the worst of its generation, after watching Nigeria’s scoreless draw against Cape Verde in a friendly on January 9 in Portugal. Omeruo, who made his debut in that match as a second half substitute, told supersport.com that Renard had made a very rushed judgment especially about new faces like him. Renard is itching for payback against Nigeria who eliminated Zambia in the two sides’ last Africa Nations Cup meeting in 2010, at the quarterfinal stage in Angola. "I think everyone is entitled to his own opinion but I think he judged from one game," Omeruo said. "It is the same thing that led South Africa to finish goalless (against Cape Verde). "I think he will see it against Burkina Faso and in the next game (against Zambia)." The 19-year-old Dutch-based defender will be making his Africa Cup debut wit ...

Jonathan Wilson: The Nigeria coach, Stephen Keshi, has won the Africa Cup of Nations and overcome the country's political hurdles – so far
Feature: Why Caf has been unfair to Zambia It is possible to say that this is belated but the issue of having not allowed Zambia to represent Africa in the coming Confederations Cup is a serious and sad one. Herve Renard, on Tuesday, was not being bitter when he lashed out at Caf for “being happy” at the exit of the Chipolopolo. Following three draws, they bit the atrociously poor and dusty fields, literally, of Mbombela Stadium. They should have been preparing, now, for the gathering of the world’s best continental champions in Brazil this year, as winners of the 2012 edition. As is the rule, Fifa requested Caf to produce a candidate for Africa. The people in Zurich took it for granted that since Zambia had won the 2012 edition, preparation was geared toward inviting the Chipolopolo over to Brazil. How wrong they were. Caf wrote back to them to say that was not the case. The email from a top Caf official on June 30, 2012, to Fifa clarified that “the winners of the 2013 Afcon South Africa will be ...

4-1! Stephen Keshi MUST BE PROUD & LAUGHING! Herve Renard reportedly said this is the worst Nigeria side the Frenchman had ever seen but now the Super Eagles humiliate Mali 4-1 to reach AfCON final. I had doubts too. But full credit to Keshi. He loves and respects Zambia too. Don't forget Keshi had applied to coach Chipolopolo when the Fox left for Angola. Congratulations Keshi & Nigeria. Over to Ghana.
Mammadou gaye Speaks sense: Controversial African football expert Mamadou Gaye says a brand new Africa king will be crowned this weekend but stuck to his guns that Zambia were lucky winners and that he is happy Didier Drogba is gone. Gaye told Tuesday’s edition of 083 sports With Robert Marawa on Metro FM that it will be an all-Sahel final between Mali and Burkina Faso on February 10 at Soccer City. “A Zambian journalist he told me Herve Renard, that is his opinion, I will not reveal his name, was just a lucky man,” Gaye said. “Because the team he took there you remember very well the Italian coach before he came did all the job prepared the team put everything in place. “He qualified Zambia just to be kicked out before the Nation’s Cup. Herve Renard came and took over that is how he won the cup. “He was telling me that Herve Renard had a full year to prepare his own plan, to prepare his own team for 2013 what is the result champions kicked out in the first round. “Of course they are still ...
Snubbed Jacob Mulenga strikes for FC Utrecht Jacob Mulenga walked straight into the starting line-up on his return to Netherlands to contribute a goal in his club’s 4 – 2 away win over FC Twente. Mulenga who was shunted to the bench by Zambian coach Herve Renard during Zambia’s dismal outing at the Afcon 2013 tournament only managed less than 30 minutes of game time at the tournament. But the prolific forward put aside his national team frustrations to complete 60 minutes for FC Utretch and convert a penalty at the death of the half. Jacob expressed his frustrations after the tournament and intimated that he would have a chat with the national team coach so that he knows his future in the team. “From my personal view point, it is a tournament I would want to forget. Coming back from last season after injury and then coming here and not being able to play, it is really something I want to forget. I do not want to think about it,” he said. “I am happy the guys invited me and everything, I love Z ...

PETITION TO CAF FOR ZAMBIA TO PLAY 2013 Confederations Cup IN BRAZIL! I have received numerous requests from Chipolopolo lovers for us to petition CAF to allow Zambia to play the Confederations Cup in Brazil next year or still play the winners of the AfCON 2013 for the right to represent the continent. Whilst I agree with the sentiments that it is unfair for Zambia not to represent Africa in Brazil next year, I feel the petition CANNOT work unless FAZ had protested to CAF at the right time. Herve Renard took a swipe at CAF over Zambia not being given chance to compete in Brazil. FAZ does not seem to challenge any CAF decision which inimical to Zambia's interests. We have the FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya who is part of the executive committee of CAF. What is important is for fans to seek audience with Mr Bwalya so that he clears the air on these contentious issues. For that reason, I regret to say I cannot be part of this petition because it is pointless. I would have loved to see Zambia participate in Bra ...
KALUSHA: RENARD GOING NOWHERE AFTER EJECTION The president of the Football Association of Zambia, Kalusha Bwalya, has insisted that Herve Renard will keep his managerial job with the national team. The Africa Cup of Nations 2012 winners were knocked out of this year's tournament in South Africa last night due to a goalless draw with Burkina Faso in the group phase. "I think [Renard] is happy to stay and we'll be happy to have him keep going with the team," BBC Sport quotes Bwalya as saying. "I think he has a good project for the team. I'm happy and the people are happy with the way the team has been playing." Meanwhile, Nigeria clinched a 2-0 win over Ethiopia to book their place in the final eight courtesy of two penalties from Chelsea's Victor Moses. Sportsmole (UK)
Burkinabe, Nigeria in; Zambia out 29 January 2013, 21:17 Defending champions Zambia were knocked out as Chelsea star Victor Moses lifted Nigeria into the quarterfinals with unheralded Burkina Faso joining them at the Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday. Group C finished in thrilling fashion with Moses converting two late penalties to beat Ethiopia 2-0 and put Nigeria into second place behind surprise table-toppers Burkina Faso. While this duo were celebrating progress to the knockout stage, Zambia were packing their bags after becoming the first title-holders since Algeria in 1992 to suffer a first-round exit. The 2012 heroes were left stranded in third place after three successive stalemates, Herve Renard's side eliminated after a closing goalless draw in Nelspruit against the Burkinabe. Coached by Belgian Paul Put, Burkina Faso's defence held firm in a tense, tactical affair as Zambia struggled to convert possession for the win they so badly needed. With 11 minutes remaining Zambia were, however, still on ...

IT’S OUR FAULT SAYS RENARD Herve Renard puts on a brave face after Zambia’s embarrassing exit from the 2013 Africa Cup on January 29 at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit earned them the tag of outgoing champions. A 0-0 draw against Burkina Faso on Tuesday night was enough to boot the 2012 champions out of this year’s Africa Cup and end a 20-year record previously held by Algeria who exited the 1992 tournament with one point at the preliminary round. “We had three draws and it was not enough to qualify. It is our fault,” Renard said. Renard lamented that their biggest mistake was failing to beat a 10-man Ethiopia who outplayed them and rally to force a 1-1 draw in their opening Group c match on January 21. “We have gone nine games at the Africa without losing which is a good record but it is not enough since we are not reaching the quarterfinals,” Renard said. Meanwhile, Renard also justified his reasons for the historic benching of his faithful captain Christopher Katongo from the game after the ...
Herve Renard dropping Christopher Katongo is the best decision he's made this tournaments...let's hope it pays off
Herve Renard has left out his captain Chris Katongo on the bench as opted for the partnership of Collins Mbesuma and Emmanuel Mayuka upfront as earlier revealed by Zambianfootball.co.zm. Defender Hichani Himoonde has also returned to the starting line up with Joseph Musonda paving way for the TP Mazembe man. The Zambian formation is a flexible 4-4-2 which at times might go to 4-3-3 with Mayuka going wide and Mbesuma as a lone striker. Zambia need to beat Burkina Faso to advance to the quarter final in a match dubbed as a make or break. Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene will captain the side. Can these Copper Bullets gun down Burkina Faso? BBC's Matthew Kenyon in Nelspruit: African Champions Zambia need to beat Burkina Faso this afternoon to ensure they go into the knock out stages. After a stuttering start there are suggestions that coach Herve Renard may echo Ivorian boss Sabri Lamouchi and leave some big name players on the bench. Chipolopolo anchorman Nathan Sinkala says he is NOT suspended for Tuesday's 'do or die' affair against Burkina Faso. Meanwhile, some fans have called on Herve Renard to drop captain Chris Katongo for the match.
frica Cup of Nations - Group C Teams: Zambia v Nigeria Date: 25 January 2013 Venue: Mbombela Stadium The pressure will be on both Zambia and Nigeria as they look to take a step in the right direction when they meet for an AFCON Group C clash on Friday. Both sides drew their opening Africa Cup of Nations 2013 games, leaving all of the Group C sides on one point with two group ties left. A defeat for either side would be a massive set-back. The Super Eagles drew their opener 1-1 against Burkina Faso after surrendering a lead deep into stoppage time. However, Stephen Keshi's side did look in control for most of the game. Meanwhile, defending AFCON champions Zambia were disappointing in their 1-1 draw against Ethiopia, who were down to 10 men but held on for a point. Chipolopolo struggled to create enough opportunities against Ethiopia and coach Herve Renard has urged his players to step up their performance. Nigeria were the last team to beat Zambia in the Nations Cup, back in 2010 when the Super Eagles edge ...
"We need to have luck on our side. We were successful in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea because we were a bit lucky." - Herve Renard
Zambianfootball.co.zm can exclusively reveal that Herve Renard has tinkered with his starting line up and made two high profiles. The Frenchman has axed Hichani Himoonde for his poor showing and replaced him with Davies Nkausu in central defence and that means Emmanuel Mbola starts at left back with Joseph Musonda shifting to right full back. As earlier revealed by the ZamFoot Crew, Emmanuel Mayuka starts but it will be Collins Mbesuma who will settle for a place on the bench in what is a tactical change. Renard will be banking on Mayuka's pacy for the slow Nigerian defenders.
If Nigeria could not win against Burkina Faso and Zambia struggled against ten- man Ethiopian side, that means there are no favourites even on paper and there are no more underdogs. Ahead of this tie, Both the Nigerian and Zambian coaches have been talking tough on how prepared they are to take home all the three points. Chipolopolo coach, Herve Renard says it’s not yet over for the defending champions, who he said must bounce back with a win over the Eagles. “We must play better in our next match against Nigeria and I remain positive that we would emerge victorious. We have learnt from our mistakes and our target of reaching the quarter final as the first team is still possible”, said the Frenchman. So, as Nigeria and Zambia go to war today in their second Group C match inside the Mhobela Stadium in Nelspruit, do you see any hope for the Eagles? Do you see Nigeria beating Zambia today? What do you expect from the Eagles?
Zambia Zambian coach Herve Renard could barely contain his annoyance with his side following their 1-1 draw with Ethiopia on Monday. In a thrilling match that had everything except a winner, Renard felt the defending Africa Cup of Nations champions should have closed out the game when they were leading in the second half with their opponents a man down. The Frenchman was clearly annoyed that his experienced side could not wrap up a win against an Ethiopian team that is playing in their first finals for 31 years. Zambia had chances to kill the game when it was 1-0, but as has been the case for a few months now, failed to convert those chances.
The Zambian preview against Nigeria at Mbombela Stadium this afternoon. Possible starting Line up of the most loved current AFCON champions , Zambia against Nigeria. 1. Kennedy Mweene 2. Davies Nkausu 3.Joseph Musonda 4.Hichani Himonde 5. Stophila Sunzu 6. Nathan Sinkala 7. Rainford Kalaba 8.Chisamna Lungu 9. Collins Mbesuma 10. Christopher Katongo 11Mukuka Mulenga. The coach Herve Renard should play traditional 4-4-2 with creative, talented, skillful, nippy and speedy current Zambian Football of the year Mukuka Mulenga playing behind strikers to open up the defence of Nigeria with his dribbling skills and visionary defence unlocking passes. This youngster, Mukuka Mulenga should replace Issack Chansa who had an average game against Walya Antelopes (Ethiopia). This boy always bring back the memories of the young Steve Leokelela oozing his dribbling skills than nearly broke the waist of Lefa "Mhlekazi" Ngcosha, Joas Magolego and Neil Tovey. The ever-running and hardworking Chisamba Lungu and the skillfull R ...
African Champions Zambia face Nigeria tonight in what is expected to be an exciting match to determine the two team’s progress at the competition. This Africa Cup of Nations Group C fixture will be played at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, the Northwestern part of South Africa. Both camps are speaking with confidence before tonight’s match after their disappointing opening round results. Zambia drew against lowly ranked Ethiopia while Nigeria conceded a late goal against Burkina Faso for both games to end 1-all on Monday. Herve Renard says his team is ready to overcome Nigeria and all his players look set to compete for places. Captain Christopher Katongo, goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene, Rainford Kalaba, Emmanuel Mayuka, Collins Mbesuma are all set to be part of Chipolopolo’s chase for three points. Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo says while the Super Eagles respect Zambia, they will go for an all out victory against the African Champions. Yobo has declared that the match will be a do-or-die for his team that ...
Three words that come to mind when I asked Zambia coach Herve Renard to describe himself during Thursday’s press conference at the Protea Hotel, Nelspruit ahead of his team’s crucial clash against Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations: “I am tall, I am French, I am a coach.”
They are as opposite as night and day and yet they are similar in so many ways. One is Zambia’s Herve Renard and the other is Nigeria’s Stephen Keshi.
Afcon: Eagles should respect us – Zambia: Zambia coach Herve Renard has warned the Eagles to respect Chipolopo...
PRACTICE IS A KEY TO SAVING PENALTIES-MWEENE Zambia goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene is fast becoming the Africa Cup of Nations penalty- saving king. He denied Ivory Coast's Arsenal striker Gervinho in last year's spot-kick climax, enabling Zambia to claim the continental crown, and he was at it again on Monday when he denied Ethiopia's Salahdin Said from the spot. One of the best 'keepers in the competition and in the Absa Premiership, Mweene is also one of Free State Stars' best takers of penalties. He successfully converted his spot kick in the 2012 final and was named goalkeepper of the tournament. After his heroics between the posts helped Zambia avoid defeat in their 1-1 opening Group C draw, Zambia coach Herve Renard was full of praise for the Lusaka-born 28- year-old. "Today, we have to thank our goalkeeper – without Kennedy Mweene it could have been a very, very bad result," the Frenchman said. "The key to saving penalties? It's about training and practise, lots of practise, both with the national tea ...
Zambia coachi, Herve Renard, don tok say de Chipolopolo (Zambia guyname) go show Naija Super Eagus pepper, wen de two of dem jam bodi for dia second match for Nations Cup
French coach Herve Renard, who led Zambia to their sensational win in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea last year and fielded 10 players from that team, said he was not surprised that Ethiopia had played so strongly. "I said many times before the game that we had to be careful, and I would like to congratulate Ethiopia for a very good performance.”
Chipolopolo coach Herve Renard has described this evening's 1-all draw against Ethiopia in a Group C match at Mbomebla stadium as deserving to Zambia. In a post match press conference, Renard says Ethiopia played better than Zambia. The Frenchman says he knew from the very start that Ethiopia would give Zambia a good run. He however says all hope is not lost adding that the remaining two games will be victories. And Ethiopian coach Sewnet Bishaw has described as a bonus drawing with the defending champions. Bishaw says he is happy that his boys stregthened the midfied to outplay Zambia. When asked on the attitude by Ethiopina fans who were throwing objects on the pitch Bishaw described it as normal the fans who were aggrieved. Zambia's Collins Mbesuma opened the scoring in the 45th minute when he beat two defenders before scoring but the determined Ethiopians who were numerically disadvantaged when their goal keeper was redcarded for fouling Chisamba Lungu equalised through their Cpatain Gebreyes Adane in ...
Where is Clifford Mulenga? Perhaps he could v been more useful in todays' match! Herve Renard we forgave u after u dumped us for Angola, why can't u forgive Clifford. Mukachoka usakabweleko ku Zambia. Kwamene uko!
I fill Herve Renard didnt play his mathematics well coz Rainford Kalaba was misplaced...He doesnt play well ku 11. The guy is a misfielder who creates balls for the strikers. He should have put Jacob Mulenga ku 11. With his speed we would have seen more goals.
If I were Herve Renard, i'd drop Rainford Kalaba & Chris Katongo to the bench vs Nigeria Friday. Feature players who are serious with $110k
