The Prime Minister has recorded a video message to celebrate He said: "As we celebrate St Andrew’s Day, we celebrate Scotland, this great nation of culture and enterprise, of pride and passion, whose countrymen and women gave the world the steam engine, the television, penicillin, James Bond, Harry Potter – even the Higgs Boson. "Today, Scotland’s national day, the world shows its admiration for those achievements, and the bagpipes will ring out from the islands of Argyll to the streets of New York."

Dog Soldiers - If you asked me, the British have proved their worth in film in television over the last century. With such memorable characters like James Bond, Harry Potter and Doctor Who, it's hard not to see the charm their culture brings to the big and small screens. Why am I praising the tea drinkers you may ask? Well today's movie really put me in a British mood while also giving me another great monster movie to remember. On a routine training exercise, a team of crack British soldiers come across the remains of a base camp that are spattered with blood and guts. The immediate call is to gather up weapons and head to an extraction point. That plan goes awry when they find they are being stalked by a pack of Lycanthropes, more commonly known as werewolves. They soon take shelter in a small house and now must hold ground until either they are killed or can find a way out. The story's basic but highly effective ans thoroughly engaging. The pace of it also is very reminiscent of other great creature cl ...
That moment you realize the team of James Bond, Emma Peel, John Steed, The Doctor and Harry Potter would be unstoppable.
The Royal Avengers a.k.a. Justice League of England. Role call: The Doctor from Doctor Who, James Bond, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter and Laura Croft from Tomb Raider (she counts, as her original Core Design ARE British). I would certainly be interesting to see how these characters would play off each other. But I say either Doctor or Bond would be the leaders and Harry Potter I would see as the voice of reason.
A reader who's a new unschooler with a 10-year-old daughter wants to know if anyone can recommend a site that lists books made into movies... "so that we can read the books together, then watch the movies come to life on screen. She loves books!," she said. Any ideas? We've loved Harry Potter and James Bond, Romeo and Juliet, Treasure Island... and we like to do stuff like read the novels from Star Trek and watch the TV shows. But I'm sure there are dozens and dozens of great resources out there that go way deeper. Any ideas?

So yesterday was like super freakin' awesome. Particularly, the FAC Spring Dance. I loved hanging out with all those people! Alex and Libby looked very sharp were a good couple, Kim looked like a James Bond girlfriend, Cannon had a cool outfit and was an awesome dancer, duh. Andy was my bartender and was like awesome at it, Von and Bethany Thomas were sharply dressed and probably the best sister brother combo there, Jackson had some serious moves, Meredith had a nice dress and also had some killer moves, Jill was super funny and rocked that time turner necklace, ( Harry Potter reference,) Madison was definately gettin' down wit it, Sarah made a surprise guest appearance, which was awesome! (She was also extremely funny,) I didn't get to talk much with Zachary but he had a very interesting blazer :), and I succeeded in obtaining a couple dances with the pretty Kyle, which was my original goal. So yeah. That dance was AWESOME. And I can't wait for anti-prom now. Next time, I want ALL of film to be there. Al ...
Ha, interested: Surbiton station features in the 2009 film version of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Blood Prince, with actors Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter and Michael Gambon as Albus Dumbledore. Filming took place in November 2007.[8] The station also appears in Agatha Christie's Poirot: The Adventure of the Clapham Cook,[9] a TV adaptation of the short story by Agatha Christie and the first episode of the 1989 ITV series. Having been set in the 1930s[10] Art Deco period and external shots of Hercule Poirot's fictional residence Whitehaven Mansions being filmed at Florin Court,[11] the station assists in maintaining the authenticity of the programme and was built within a year of Florin Court. Did I miss anything important? I just spent the last four days cataloging my favorite 200 films and building a smart ebook that helps you watch all of them instantly for free if possible. I think many might be surprised most by the ones that didn't make my list, films I feel are vastly over-rated right now, a list that includes: The Shawshank Redemption, Lord of the Rings, Dances with Wolves, The Deer Hunter, Star Wars, anything about James Bond or Harry Potter. Here is what did make my list, and if I missed something important, let me know. My parents' first date was a James Bond 007 film. I've seen most of them. Except for maybe one or two of the Roger Moore ones and one of the Timothy Dalton ones. This is a natural team-up. Tony Stark and Bond. James Bond. Right now I'm reading the original Fleming novels. Very eye-opening. They were not filmed in the order that they were written, like Harry Potter. Bond and Sherlock Holmes share that, unless you're considering the PBS Sherlock Holmes starring the late, great Jeremy Brett. Here's a cool team-up courtesy of Super-Team Family: The Lost issues!
For all my friends who are creative types or would like to be, this is a great video by the actor John Cleese (Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, James Bond, Harry Potter, Shrek, A Fish Called Wanda and more).
So my list of greatest movies continues: Django Unchained, Pulp Fiction, Star Wars original trilogy, Indiana Jones series except # 4, Pirates of the Carribean series, Harry Potter series, Lord of the rings trilogy, Goodfellas, almost any James Bond film, best Christmas film of my lifetime is Home Alone, and this film should be on any list and my personal feel good movie The Sandlot! To anybody who reads this I would love some suggestions in the comments section, and as always there is more to come.
Really want to read a good novel. Any recommendations? Love a good girly novel, anything spy, James Bond, Andy McNab and obviously Harry Potter! What would you recommend I read?

I just read that Sylvester Stallone has signed on to reprise his Role of Rocky Balboa in the 7th Rocky film; Rocky Balboa: Creed, where he will train Apollo's grandson as a boxer. I don't think any movie franchise has had 7 films that maintained the same person playing the main character before? There's not even very many franchises that have 7 films in them, take away the horror movies with Jason or Michael Meyers or Saw because none of them had the same stars in all of them. The exception being Nightmare on Elm Street where Robert England was in all 8 but not all of them were profitable. James Bond and Batman had different actors in the lead, Star Trek re-casted after 6, Police Academy had 7 but Steve Guttenburg left after the 4th... Harry Potter had 7 but the last 2 were a part one and part 2 that were filmed together. No real point that I am making I'm just kind of excited to see Rocky VII.
Dear British Friends...even though we won the war we still love you and are thankful for so many things you've given us...the English language, English muffins, London Bridge (now sitting in Arizona), digestive biscuits, High tea, James Bond, Downton Abbey, Mr. Bean, Julie Andrews, Harry Potter, Matt Redman, Delirious, and on and on the list goes. OK American friends...we're celebrating our independence today and rightfully so, but is there something you'd like to add to my list in honor of our country's wonderful relationship with England today?
"Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliff wants to play a villain in the popular James Bond film franchise.
So, Daniel Radcliff recently said he doesn't want to be the next Doctor on Doctor Who, due to him being Harry Potter. Thinking being one iconic character is enough, but Radcliff wants to be a James Bond villain in the future. I don't think I could see him play either roles.
A stuntman wearing a wingsuit invented by Tony Uragallo jumped from a helicopter and plunged 731 meters (almost half a mile) before crashing into a stack of cardboard boxes. Reaching speeds of 130 kilometers an hour (80 miles per hour), Gary Connery became the first person to fall from the sky and land without using a parachute. "The landing was so comfortable, so soft - my calculations obviously worked out and I'm glad they did," said the 42-year-old Connery, who has performed stunts in the Harry Potter, James Bond, Indiana Jones and Batman films. Thousands gathered in a field in Oxfordshire, England to witness the event. The crash site was a runway of 18,600 cardboard boxes stacked 45 ft wide, 12 ft high and 350 ft in length. “We thought it was crazy. It's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in my life” commented renowned U.S. skydiver Jeb Corliss noting that Connery plunged headfirst into the landing. "He is obviously totally bonkers. I'm relieved it's all over," remarked his wife Vivienn ...
Han Solo and James Bond in one movie. Wo~ just waiting for Harry Potter, Nick Fury, Sherlock and Aslan to appear in Cowboys & Aliens
My Oscar thoughts: yes I loved Shirley Bassey singing Goldfinger. I really think there should've been a whole Bond medley. Sheena Easton belting out "For Your Eyes Only", Duran Duran's "A View to a Kill"(nerd alert: The only Bond theme to hit Carly Simon's "Nobody Does it Better" from The Spy Who Loved Me and Paul Mccartney "Live and Let Die" would've been fun. And what happened to the rumor all the Bonds showing up on stage? Should've at LEAST had all the Bond women...Halle Berry being the least interesting of the bunch. Wasn't much of a James Bond celebration. Kristen Stewart needs to be stopped now. Ugh. Harry Potter should've given her a nice hard shove off the stage. And the tribute to musicals... we get the cast of Chicago and Jennifer Hudson from Dreamgirls. Seriously? Why bother. We can now blindfold Renee Zellwiger with dental floss. And if you haven't seen Hope Springs, Meryl should've had another nomination this year. Naomi Watts was robbed. Sally Field was robbed. Moment that was inappropriate ...

Again, this reviewer is sorry. Has been plagued by financial difficulties, lack of drive to see movies and sickness. Coming in February, new THEATER reviews, including "A Good Day to Die Hard," "Zero Dark Thirty," and "Les Mis (conditional upon the movie still being IN the theater!)." Look for DVD reviews including "Cherobyl Diaries" and "True Grit." Also, some new "retrospectives," looking back on movies of the past. These will include "James Bond films," "The Matrix" (including "The Animatrix"), Mission: Impossible films, and Harry Potter. This reviewer will then move on to other movies. Stay "tuned," and remember: movies are entertainment. Nothing more.

BOND IS BACK !!! For those of us born in the '60s who grew up with the James Bond series of movies starring Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton, awaiting the next release was akin to awaiting the next release of the Harry Potter series. But alas, with the passing of legendary producer Albert R. Broccoli, and the retirement of Pierce Brosnan as Bond, the series became intent on making a departure from the traditional Bond movies and did away with almost all familiar cues. After seeing "Casino Royale" in 2006 with the newest Bond (Daniel Craig), I was so appalled that I lost all interest in ever seeing another James Bond movie. Enter Skyfall. My son Derek went to see this newest of Bond movies and came home pronouncing that it was not only excellent, but had returned to Bond tradition at the request of Daniel Craig, and that I should go see it with him. After being very skeptical, I agreed and he was indeed accurate. For Bond traditionalist out there, this movie is a ...
Review of 007 Skyfall (Does NOT contain spoilers) I have not been a fan of the new James Bond movies (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace) though Skyfall was great. It had all the elements of a James Bond film. Sexy women, sexy cars, sexy explosions and the ending kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending had a kick *** final battle but also had emotion that I didn't see coming from a Bond film. That being said their were a few problems with this film. Again I felt Daniel Craig did a lackluster job, better than the previous two Bond films but nowhere near as good as his roles in 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' or 'Cowboys vs Aliens'. Though not all the acting was terrible. Ralph Fiennes, who many will know as Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series, did an excellent job. Overall, Skyfall had everything you want in a Bond film and kept me excited throughout the whole thing. Final grade: 7.5/10
Saw the new 007 movie and it was good. Not a really big fan of James Bond but kudos to the movie and I was really happy to see the actor that played Voldemort and Helen McCrory who played Narcissa Malfoy from "Harry Potter". Made it much more enjoyable :) but I still liked the movie
Got my Supanova sigs today :) Richard Kiel - Jaws from James Bond. Chris Rankin - Percy Weasley from Harry Potter. Alfred Enoch - Dean Thomas from Harry Potter. And Luke Perry from The Fifth Element.
Saw a headline saying 'James Bond beats Harry Potter' - and had visions of Daniel Craig pistol-whipping Daniel Radcliffe. Maybe in Bond 24?

Five Movie Franchises And How They Should End: The Bourne series. Yeah, I like 'em too, but the whole thing's getting a bit threadbare by now. Last movie should end with Daniel Craig as James Bond showing up out of nowhere, spraying Treadstone HQ with bullets and making some clever quip ("Damon says his agent rules, suckers!"). American Pie. Wait, they're still making these? Really?? OK, maybe the FBI finds a bunch of bodies buried in Stifler's basement or something, I dunno. Harry Potter. They should really have some kind of showdown between Harry and Voldemort! Call me crazy, but it just seems RIGHT somehow. Iron Man. Robert Downey's Tony Stark gets nailed for tax evasion, being a smarmy *** His sentence? A life of AWESOME! Also, community service. Pirates of the Carribean. Pirates who look suspiciously like *** Jagger and Charlie Watts run up to Jack Sparrow and beat him with sacks of marbles. Wait, I think that happened at the last Stones rehersal... There ya go, closure!

Taking a break and reading the latest Entertainment weekly, featuring 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise. I'm a big James Bond fan. Came across an interesting fact. Here is a list of actors who were considered to play James Bond by the producers (and some were screen-tested). Most I knew but there couple actors I had no idea. Here's the list of "Almost Bond" actors: James Brolin, Burt Reynolds, Clint Eastwood, Michael Gambon (Harry Potter's Dumbledore), Rex Harrison, Sam Worthington (Avatar), Sam Neill, Mel Gibson, Michael Cain, Richard Burton, Henry Cavill (upcoming Superman) and Cary Grant. The writer missed one - Jeremy Brett (Granada BBC TV Sherlock Holmes).
In a parallel universe where Lord Voldemort has completely taken over Hogwarts and trapped all of the students and faculty in the confines of the school, Harry Potter was the only one who managed to escape. With Lord Voldemort seeking to expand beyond Hogwarts and cast his villainous magic on the muggel world, MI6 agent, James Bond, is given orders on behalf of Her Majesty to remove the threat of the malicious wizard at all costs. When he meets up with Harry Potter at King's Cross train station in London, Bond makes sure he has is Walther PPK and that it's loaded and ready. Before entering Platform 9 3/4, a loud, fading in-and-out buzzing noise resonates throughout the train station as a blue, London, police box appears. Bond and Potter stop and aim their gun and wand, respectively, at the mysterious police box. The doors open and out steps a man. "I'm the Doctor! If you're both heading to Hogwarts, then step in the TARDIS. I'm heading there, too. Together, we can stop this evil threat!" Will Harry Potter ...
These games remind us of all that was invented in what is now the U.K. : The Bycicle, the internet, the Industrial Revolution, digital computing, the sonogram, the subway, football, golf, Phil Collins, Sting, Adele, Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Sherlock Holmes, Treasure Island, The Lord of the Rings, and alot of great literature, Mary Poppins, Dr. Who, Mr. Bean, Rod Steward, Sade, Seal, Desree, Patrick Steward, King Arthur, Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Monty Python, the guy that sings: "goodby my lover", James Bond, the Rolling Stones, the Beattlels and, some negative things like: Harry Potter, The African Slave Trade, world-wide imperialism, the greedy commercial system, boxing, pirates, Hooligans and the Spice Girls, if not negative, definitely annoying, LOL !
So when they brought out Mr. Bean in the opening ceremonies, I yelled at the TV, "Mr. Bean? Give me Harry Potter, Doctor Who, James Bond, or Sherlock Holmes!" How did the opening ceremonies respond? By playing the TARDIS engine noise over Bohemian Rhapsody. Alright, opening ceremonies. We're cool.
The country that gave us Monty Python, the Beatles, James Bond, Duran Duran, Harry Potter, the Rolling Stones and Peter Pan can't do a better job of entertaining than THIS? God Save the Queen...from boredom.
The London Olympics burst into life on Friday with a humour-filled Opening Ceremony watched by 80,000 spectators and more than one billion TV viewers.Queen Elizabeth II and James Bond, alias actor Daniel Craig, were shown in a spoof film parachuting from a helicopter into the Olympic Stadium in east London before the real monarch took her seat to loud applause. After seven years of planning, the Games officially began in the gleaming new stadium in a once rundown area of the British capital with a colourful show devised by "Slumdog Millionaire" director Danny Boyle. The ceremony kept Boyle's promise to showcase British history with a dash of quirky humour, tracing time from a bucolic past through the Industrial Revolution before fast-forwarding to the present day.The show even included a tribute to Britain's state-run National Health Service while actor Kenneth Branagh, "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling and "Mr Bean" Rowan Atkinson all had roles.More than 80 world leaders and royals attended the ceremony w ...
Danny Boyle, even cooler would be Vesper swilling Daniel Craig/James Bond exchanging bullets/wand fire with pipe smoking Ian McKellan/Gandalf THE GREY as they collaterally damaged lip-less Branaugh (whose commitment to character I find no fault with; did you see the twinkling eyes?) and who are, after landing, over taken by chimp infused rage infected zombies, and from the blood springs a resurrected Quentin Crisp as Queen Elizabeth I that moonwalks his way into the open arms of the actor who will only ever be known as Harry Potter his entire life, where they begin making love to one another that produces Helena Bonham Carter as JK Rowling!
Alright, I can dig on James Bond escorting the queen. Now where is Michael Cain, Liam Neeson, and Harry Potter?
So far I'm digging the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics, but Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, and James Bond better make an appearance.

Final Thought for the evening: I was thinking recently, and by recently I mean 10 minutes ago, I was thinking of how some people, famous actors, are known more by the roles that they play than by their real life names. Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Sean Connery as James Bond. I sort of fell bad for them. But you know who I feel REALLY bad for? Han Solo, oh, I mean Harrison Ford. But what he's really famous for will be his legacy, the "Indiana Jones" saga.He will be known forever as that character. I feel so bad. there are so many more roles that he could've played. He doesn't even really act, he punches an occasional bad guy and says the dialogue. BUT HE'S SUCH A GOOD ACTOR!! Don't ask me why I thought this. I am a mere vessel, as George Carlin would say.

Daniel Craig was a horrible choice to play James Bond, they should of got John Hamm, George Clooney, Edward Norton, Liam Neeson, Hugh Jackman, even the Harry Potter guy would of been better
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo : The movie is disturbing is established in the opening credits itself and doesn't let the steam off until the end. David Fincher, the director of dark and stylish thrillers like Seven, Zodiac, Fight Club and universally acclaimed 'The Curious case of Benjamin Button' and 'Social Network' takes us on a ride where you cringe, hold attention for all 158 minutes and most importantly stay all the way with Rooney Mara, the lead actress as she bares her body and soul in a complex and demanding role. Daniel Craig is more than James Bond and gets another opportunity to strengthen that claim and doesn't disappoint. Its not for the faint hearted as the Director opens up a franchise for his team in an interpretation staying true to the source material (adaptation of Stieg Larsson's literary blockbuster 'The Millenium Trilogy', which thankfully plays to serious cinema adult audience unlike the Twilight/Harry Potter series. The much tattoed and pierced Mara generates obvious physical in ...
