South Africa are certainly not cribbing at not getting the opportunity to host Indian Premier League matches this year. If Cricket South Africa chief executive Haroon Lorgat is to be believed, there were no plans of hosting IPL matches this year in the Rainbow Nation. Lorgat has dismissed talks that CSA had refused to stage only part of the IPL, wanting the whole tournament or nothing. (Also read: ICC clears Lorgat of charges levelled by BCCI)
South Africa news Lorgat cleared of FTP-related charge : Haroon Lorgat, the Cricket South Africa chief executive, has been cleared of allegations that he had knowledge of the controversial statement about the ICC Board and the FTP by David Becker, the ICC's former legal head, and helped prepare it. Lorgat was also exonerated, by an independent adjudicator appointed by the ICC, of the charge that he had allegedly tried to bribe and threaten journalists. As a result, any restrictions on Lorgat's ability to act as CSA chief executive were removed. He can now resume acting as the board's representative on the ICC Chief Executive's Committee and deal with affairs involving the BCCI. "With this unsavoury matter now behind us I look forward to getting on with the real challenges that we need to deal with," Lorgat said. PCB and CSA to increase ties! The PCB and CSA have agreed a Memorandum of Understanding that will increase cricketing ties between the two countries. Pakistan will tour South Africa later this month, filling a void left by India's truncated visit, and the boards have now signalled their intention to cooperate further after a meeting between Najam Sethi, the interim PCB chairman, and the CSA chief executive, Haroon Lorgat, in Abu Dhabi. The arrangement could see more Pakistani players taking part in South Africa's domestic competitions. Sethi said that it was time for the PCB "to stand with CSA", while Lorgat welcomed Pakistan's decision to come to South Africa for three ODIs and two T20s in November, following the ongoing meeting between the two teams in the UAE.
South Africa and Pakistan will contest a three-match one-day international series and two Twenty20 games later this month, it was announced on Tuesday. Pakistan have agreed an away series against the Proteas to fill the void left by India's decision to reduce their schedule. Cricket South Africa chief executive Haroon Lorgat said in a statement: "This is certainly fantastic news for the Proteas and our fans. "With the Indian tour having unfortunately been curtailed, we needed to give our fans the opportunity to see the Proteas in action, and I'm delighted that Pakistan accepted our offer to tour here. "It's not been an easy period for South African cricket, but I want to thank our fans and commercial partners for their patience and support during this time." The tour will start with two T20 matches to be played at the Wanderers (Johannesburg) and Newlands (Cape Town) respectively and will be followed by three ODIs at Newlands, St George's (Port Elizabeth) and SuperSport Park (Centurion). BCCI to discuss HotSpot at ICC meet in Dubai. Kolkata, September 14 BCCI interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya on Saturday said the Board would discuss Warren Brennan's observation on HotSpot technology at the ICC's chief executive's meeting on September 16 and 17. "(Board secretary) Sanjay Patel would discuss Brennan's observation that protecting coatings on bats prevent edges being detected. The Board will discuss whether the observation is right or not," Dalmiya said. Inventor of HotSpot, Bernan had raised concerns about the batsmen's using of silicone tape to prevent edges and fool the technology during the Ashes series. The Board is learnt to have no problem with the HotSpot technology but have maintained that the decision review system is not fool proof especially the ball tracking technology with regard to trajectory, bounce of the wicket and the point of impact. The ICC meeting assumes more significance as the Board secretary will meet CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat on the sidelines to sort out the So ...
Bangladesh finalised as Asia Cup hosts Chennai, September 14 Top members of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) today discussed the modalities of the 2014 Asia Cup tournament, which is to be hosted by Bangladesh for a second straight time, in February-March next year. The tournament, to be held from February 24 to March 8, has gone to Bangladesh after India, who had earlier agreed to host it, backed out citing a packed international schedule. Bangladesh had hosted the last edition of the tournament in 2012. The tournament host was announced during ACC's meeting in April and the details were discussed in today's meeting here, according to ACC sources. In the meeting, the BCCI also explored the possibility of hosting an ODI tri-series involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka later this year as back-up plan for India's trouble-hit tour of South Africa in November and December. A more clearer picture on this will emerge after Monday's meeting between BCCI's secretary Sanjay Patel and South Africa Cricket chief Haroon Lor ...
Author : Danny Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram has welcomed the idea of a tri-series with India The Pakistan Cricket Board is hoping it can get the BCCI to host a tri-series in the coming months in an attempt to play more regularly against India. The idea will be pitched forward at the Asian Cricket Council meeting in Chennai on Saturday, NDTV Sports reports. Some well placed sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board told PTI that they cajoled Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahma to share the idea with the BCCI. “There is a strong chance that the BCCI might propose to have a tri-series sometime in December in India with Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the PCB is ready to accept this invitation,” one source said. The source stated that the PCB and Sri Lanka Cricket would work something out if the tri-series calls for reshuffling Pakistan’s home series versus Sri Lanka in the UAE in the months of December and January. “The PCB has got feelers from India that it is contemplating having the tri-serie ...
CSA to 'do the right thing' Johannesburg - Cricket SA (CSA) will host a transformation indaba in Johannesburg this weekend to ensure the game can be sustainable, it said on Thursday. "Transformation: 'time to do the right thing', will be the theme behind our indaba," CSA president Chris Nenzani said in a statement. "We have always believed in doing the right thing, with transformation being a strategic imperative." This will be CSA's first transformation indaba since 2002 and is expected to be attended by about 150 delegates. Topics to be covered included governance, appointment of staff, professional cricket, amateur cricket, transformation legacy, selection of teams and appointment of officials. Nenzani said CSA owed it to South Africans to create a level playing field in the sport. "In the past we might have been policy compliant without achieving real transformation, and the time has arrived for that to change," he said. CSA CEO Haroon Lorgat said one of his first steps since being appointed in July w ...
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are likely to host all the matches of IPL 7, if not all but some matches, according to the report in “The Indian Express” yesterday on Tuesday. IPL was held in South Africa because of general elections in 2009. That was the second edition of the high voltage Twenty20 premier league. Deccan Chargers became the champion of PL 2. ‘A clear picture will emerge after the dates of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced. Until then, we will considering whether to arrange a few games in India and then move to abroad, or vice versa. Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the short journeys, so logically, it will not be much of the problem,’ a BCCI official said to the newspaper. ‘The decision to arrange IPL at South Africa in 2009 has been taken at the very last moment, and nobody expected then that there would be a big issue regarding security. But now we know that such situation could arise again, and we will be getting prepare for it,’ the official said. Indian Premier League i ...

The Awards Breakfast honours the accomplishments of the flourishing talent in the country, as CSA continues to drive its vision of making cricket a truly national sport of winners. Read what Haroon Lorgat has to say about solution to fixing in international sports.
The BCCI and Haroon Lorgat are like an old married couple. Like any woman, the BCCI know it is all Lorgat's fault that their relationship is falling apart and like every man, Lorgat has no idea what exactly he should be apologising for.
What next??? Haroon Lorgat apologises and will that end all the bad blood btwn two cricket boards or rather the EGO of the BCCI gets feeded??? BCCI - International Bullying Cricket Committee!!
The conundrum of an apology! ...Some months ago Lorgat offered to apologize if he had done anything to upset the Indians, but wasn't sure what he had done, saying nobody had ever CONFRONTED him with a grievance. India has never publicly stated what has upset them and what he should apologize for. So BCCI rejects an itinerary (that underwent 10 changes upon BCCI’s insistence) to force an apology? At the moment, seems like BCCI took away the candy. …Waiting for its kid brother to say sorry. But, Lorgat doesn’t work that way! Guess, someone from the BCCI needs to formally request him for an apology, and Lorgat may/may not grant one! ;) btw who does he apologize to, if at all…? …Srinivasan ? BCCI ? India ? “... if it means that I have offended someone and I need to apologize, I will." Lorgat 1 Sep 2013 “Nice if Haroon Lorgat apologizes to BCCI” Jagmohan Dalmiya 4 Sep 2013 “Lorgat to meet BCCI secretary” CSA 6 Sep 2013 …some drama indeed. ;)
The BCCI owes people an explanation : Harsha Bhogle Some might think it is the by-product of games played on another field, some might believe that he is the primary reason, but at the end of it all, Sachin Tendulkar will play his 200th Test in India, most likely at the Wankhede Stadium, where he scored a first-class century on debut. You'll never know the real reason, the BCCI won't say anything, and Tendulkar, well, he tends to keep his cards close to his chest, doesn't he? If indeed the upheaval in itineraries is to allow Tendulkar to play that 200th at home, then I'm afraid it is wrong. It is an astonishing landmark, even for a staggering cricketer, and let's be honest, we don't know if he asked for it, but if everyone began moving schedules around to accommodate people, there would be more variables than in a political scenario. But if this is to allow him to play his last game at the Wankhede Stadium (and again, Tendulkar hasn't even indicated thus), I think we can look at it differently. Yes, the a ...
Haroon Lorgat sorry but BCCI in no mood to forgive - Daily News & Analysis
This is just the tip of the SPORT corruption iceberg so to speak, imagine what goes on in Government!! Graeme Joffe South African sport is in massive trouble as millions of rands continue to get wasted by selfish, gravy train administrators. The rot starts right at the top. In trying to justify a spend of R65 million on the SA sports awards this year, Sports minister, Fikile Mbalula said that 30 million people watched the awards on television last year. But a Rapport investigation report under the headline, “Sport se Oscars' was bekonkel “ showed those viewership figures were not even a tenth of that. The irregularities with the tender process are also well documented. The public is continually being misled by our own administrators. Cricket South Africa (CSA) is still trying to cover up their CEO appointment or lack thereof. I have it on good authority that CSA has told the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that they won’t appoint Haroon Lorgat as CEO. Lorgat was about to be appointed in ...

The Pakistan board is yet to reveal the pool of players available to the five franchises but is looking to finalize the names by February. The PCB didn't reveal the base prices for the five regional franchises either; the bidding process for the franchises will also start next month. The managing director of the PSL, Salman Sarwar Butt, and adviser Haroon Lorgat, also said the board was contemplating having a tax-free league. The Pakistan Super League is the Pakistan Twenty20 cricket Premier League. The Pakistan Super League features city-based franchises instead of the state teams. The League will feature up to 30 foreign players. The objective of this league is to bring back international cricket to Pakistan and to promote Twenty20 cricket on Pakistan. Former ICC chief exucutive Haroon Lorgat has said not to underestimate the Pakistan Super League, the competition could be 'in excess of $100 million'. Lorgat has been appointed by the PCB to help set up the league. "People should not underestimate the potential of the Twenty20 league in Pakistan," Lorgat said. "With the rising popularity of T20 cricket, every ICC member country has the right to host its own professional league. "It's exciting to have a very good initial response from corporate companies on the PSL," PCB chief operating officer Subhan Ahmed told us. "We are looking at the viability of a Twenty20 event involving some foreign players, and it would be great if it comes about," he said. It is not the first time the PSL idea has been floated. PSL hopes to attract players from leading teams Staff Report LAHORE: Cricketers from leading Test teams South Africa, Australia and England have shown interest in playing in the new PakistanSuper League in March, PSL managing director Salman Sarwar Butt said on Thursday. National teams have avoided visiting Pakistan since the deadly attack on the Sri Lanka team convoy in Lahore in 2009, but individuals made up an international all-star team that met Pakistan in two successfully organized Twenty20s in Karachi in October. “We are thrilled by the number of players and agents from several ICC member countries showing interest to play in the PSL,”Salman said. “Players from South Africa, Australia, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England and Ireland have expressed their interest in the event,” he added. Reviving international cricket Thursday, January 17, 2013 by TAHA REHMAN It is said that even a long journey begins with a single step and later on every single step matters. More sensitive the job at hand the more careful is the approach required as a single wrong move is enough to make one go off the track. These things come to mind when we look at the efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan. The PCB is looking to have international teams visit Pakistan, but to achieve this target it needs to undertake a long voyage with tremendous care. Primarily the PCB should concentrate on tiny steps to adequately build the case to regain the lost trust. To be honest, this aspect has been neglected thus far. What could be those tiny steps? Of course the way the PCB is planning to organise an indigenous brand of Twenty20 league, which also includes a few foreign players, is a step in the right direction but haven’t such efforts been made in the recent past by ...
