A LETTER FROM STAN KASTEN Dear Dodger Fan: This has been a very busy offseason for us. Can you believe Spring Training is less than one month away? Glendale, Arizona, here we come! Our roster has taken on a few new faces. We've added free-agent pitchers Zack Greinke, Hyun-Jin Ryu and J.P. Howell, while trading for utilityman Skip Schumaker and we are looking forward to a full season with Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Hanley Ramirez, Carl Crawford, Nick Punto and Brandon League, who we acquired late last year. We've also been busy strengthening our international team, with the addition of scouts in Europe, Latin America, Mexico, the Pacific Rim and Venezuela. These scouts have been busy signing several youngsters during the offseason. As you can see, the Dodgers are committed to our fans and we want to bring another World Championship back to Los Angeles. The enhancement of the fan experience has always been paramount to our ownership team and we recently announced upgrades we are planning for the 2013 se ...

Cano, Tejada, Reyes, Beltre, Hanley Ramirez, Nelson Cruz, Melky Cabrera, Erick Aybar, and there bullpen is stacked.
Here's the projected payroll for the 2013 Miami Marlins. After a fire sale that began with trading star shortstop Hanley Ramirez and ended with trading star shortstop Jose Reyes (and everyone else), this isn't a rebuilding year.
Kershaw and Greinke are looking to be a formidable 1-2 punch. Ryu I still have my reservations of, and why the heck is Hanley playing in the WBC man he needs to work on his defense at short! Lol. Can't wait for baseball season!
Every time Sammy Sosa and Hanley Ramirez bark i'm for sure there is murderer outside
lol I do not like Hanley Ramirez. If the rest were on other teams then they would be okay lol
kemp, Gonzalez, Crawford, and the biggest one of all Hanley Ramirez. Lol. They care more about their average
Hanley Ramirez's wife & kids were at my job today. Those kids are amazing.

Billy Shakin of the LA Times reports that the Dodgers are interested in Scott Rolen, 37, as a backup third baseman: Shakin writes that Hanley Ramirez played only as a DH in the Winter League, Gordon made nine errors and Cruz hit .173. Rolen has a career .338 avg at Dodger Stadium. I like this move, Riolen would add some experience at the left part of the infield and his avg at Dodger Stadium is shurely a good factor, but he'll turn 38 next season, and he's thinking about retirement.
Heard Dodgers are drawing some interest in signing Scott Rolen as a back up 3B or even a starter if the opportunity arises. For the Luis Cruz fans he has been everything but great in Winter League batting just .173 in 19 games. Hanley Ramirez who the Dodgers hoped would play 3B in Winter ball to improve his defense has only appeared as a DH and Dee Gordon has made 9 errors in 29 games also in the Winter games. Here is what I think. Move Hanley to 3B and try to trade for a SS. Look people, I've been following Luis Cruz playing in Mexico and now the Winter League and he hasn't done anything like what he did this past season. As much as I want Cruz to be the real deal, he hasn't been! I think this is why the Dodgers are exploring back up options because Cruz not living up to what he did in the second half of the 2012 season.
Which current Dodger deserves an award for last season? Clayton Kershaw for best pitcher? Maybe Luis Cruz for his stellar breakout season? Who do you think deserves an award?
Chipper signed something for me!!! And this past year I got Hanley Ramirez, Omar Infante and
Dodgers look to be interested in Indians closer Chris Perez too. Perez is 4yrs younger than Hanrahan who's 31 and has less walks per nine innings at 2.5 to Hanrahans 5.4 per nine. The one issue with Perez is his controversial personality. Earlier in the season, Perez criticized Cleveland fans for not coming out to support what was then a first-place team in the AL Central. Months later, he got into a verbal mix-up with a fan in Oakland and the profanity-filled exchange was caught on video. After the Indians fired manager Manny Acta, Perez hit him with the door on the way out. He ripped Acta for not being more confrontational with players and giving the silent treatment instead. Perez also seemed to blame Acta for the Tribe's 5-24 record in August, saying the "panic button" was pushed too many times. Is that something the Dodgers want to deal with? If Perez made so many headlines with the Cleveland press, what might happen when he encounters the L.A. media horde? Would Perez be happier with a playoff conte ...
Very true, admit you love Hanley Ramirez
I named my first dog Hanley after Hanley Ramirez and my new pup Easton... I might be crazy

Marlins "so disappointed" with 3B options that they're looking at Miguel Tejada. Hanley Ramirez was pretty good... [
Shortstop. His bat is a bigger positive when he's happy then his defense is a negative at Short.
It's too bad they don't have a Hanley Ramirez type to fill the void...
what about that Hanley Ramirez guy in LA? He seems like a good option.
Wasn't in on Hanley Ramirez anywhere last year, if he's hanging around 25-30 overall (he was in November) -- I'm buying.
Should the Dodgers play Hanley Ramirez at SS or 3B? weighs in
Nakajima's swing follow thru looks vaguely akin to Hanley Ramirez. Let's hope it equates to 2008 Hanley, not 2012 Hanley

Baseball Nerd Official MLBlog of Keith Olbermann The Marlins: A Modest Proposal So. Time to take Marlins Park and: A) Disassemble it; B) Crate it; C) Sell It; D) Ship it to San Jose (or Oakland, or Portland, or San Bernardino, Austin/San Antonio/Round Rock, or – wherever). Now that the Miami experiment is over (as forecast here a year ago next week, and reiterated here last June) and Hanley Ramirez, Heath Bell, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, and the merely arbitration-eligible Emilio Bonifacio have either been offloaded in A Going-Out-Of-Business-Sale (or are about to be), the Marlins are officially the Montreal Expos of the 2010′s and baseball is unofficially dead in Florida. Notice I did not write South Florida. All of it. The president and CEO of the Dodgers, Stan Kasten just said that the Dodgers are a homegrown talent organization, that their foundation is laid by their own players...that's funny you just bought the Boston Red sox and Hanley Ramirez...enjoy the tv deal, enjoy the headline trades, but also enjoy looking up at the Giants and their World Series rings...
Thanks! I take criticisms with the love, & I'm glad you disagreed with me. You're right too, he isn't Hanley Ramirez of '08-10.

I know it hurts dude. But this is an interesting take. The Hanley Ramirez case against Mike Trouts MVP
Really ? A guy wins the triple crown and that is not good enough , compare Hanley Ramirez # in 2007 ? Similar he was 10th!!!
If the AL MVP award goes to trout then maybe we should apologize to Hanley Ramirez.

“An NL scout on new shortstop Yuney: "This guy makes Hanley Ramirez look like Teammate of the Year.''”
fire sale began last yeah when they traded Hanley Ramirez to And when they traded Heath Bell to this year.
For those not understanding the previous post. During the midseason, when the Miami Marlins traded Hanley Ramirez in a deal that seemed contingent on dumping his $38 million remaining on his contract, folks clamored about a fire sale. I defended the Marlins organization, claiming that the Fish were merely getting rid of a deal that was not working in their favor. The Marlins claimed that they would "not stop spending" necessarily and that the outcomes of the deal would ultimately be determined not only by the results of pitching prospect Nathan Eovaldi, but also by how the team utilized the money saved. Today, the Marlins proved that their old ways have not yet left the team. In a stunning move, the team traded Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle,John Buck, Emilio Bonifacio, and an additional $4 million to the Toronto Blue Jays for shortstop Yunel Escobar, catcher Jeff Mathis, pitcherHenderson Alvarez, and prospects Adeiny Hechevarria, Jake Marisnick, Justin Nicolino, and Anthony DeSclafani. The names ...
A year ago I was all excited for the Miami Marlins this year I am not happy at all! When they traded Hanley Ramirez during the season I was like "why? What's wrong with the Marlins?" Now they don't even have a short stop. They are going to regret this trade most likely.
Hanley Ramirez, a native of the Dominican Republic, is a shortstop/third baseman for the Miami Marlins. He bats and throws right handed. Hanley was named 200...
they got rid of Reyes, Josh Johnson, Mark Buerlhe, Bonafacio..Heath Bell, Hanley Ramirez, Omar Infante etc; lol fire sale!
GoalieMonkey.com
After the first season, he had a fire sale and traded most of their good players, like Reyes, Hanley Ramirez, Heath Bell
When in the presence of greatness, one must acknowledge the greatness. In that vein: Jeffrey Loria, that's some business you're running down there in Miami. But, the gall, that's what makes you special. Miami owner Jeffrey Loria (center) has gutted the Marlins ... again. (AP)It seems like only yesterday we pondered the notion of the Miami Marlins seizing their hardball destiny, conducting themselves like adults, spending money they'd for years siphoned from fans and fellow franchises, and then putting a serious team on the field. It was amazing. Inspiring even. And then we wondered exactly how long before they blew it up. If you had seven months (Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez, Omar Infante) or 10 months (Heath Bell, Ozzie Guillen), you'd get partial credit. Eleven months? Winner. There is a soaring tolerance to humiliation on Marlins Way. Perhaps that is the true greatness of Loria and his Marlins. Even as they spoke of honesty and loyalty in luring free agents to Miami, they doggedly refused to consider ...
I still rock my Miami Marlins Hanley Ramirez jersey... denile aint just a river in egypt
I know im not a big baseball fan, but why in the *** the Marlins would do that. If u didn't know they traded away Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, Emilio B, and Mark Buehrle to Toronto Blue Jays for a player n 3 prospect. Are the Marlins going nuts! U spend $ keeping Hanley Ramirez, but u ship him to dodgers. Heath Bell went to diamondback, n now this. We had all that talent on roster, but after 1 season they giving big $$$ away. I just give up on em Marlins organization. Its gonna be mad Marlins fan.
what are the Miami Marlins doing? they just gave 4 of their 5 best players to Toronto!!! and they got rid of Hanley Ramirez last year and he was prob. their best player at that point in time, those fans should be p***ed
In all reality, Jeffrey Loria, (owner of the Miami Marlins), pulled off the ultimate Ponzi scheme. He has the South Florida taxpayers pay for an awesome new stadium, that now has a product that doesn't exist! Bernie Madoff gets to spend the rest of his life behind bars, while Loria gets to enjoy enormous fish tanks, fine art work, and swimming pools in his $634,000,000 facility that others paid for! This whole situation is unbelievable! Get this, the Marlins fine Ozzie Guillen for commenting his opinions on Fidel Castro, and in the end, Ozzie is ultimately fired. So yesterday then send Jose Reyes and replace him with Yunel Escobar who was fined and suspended for wearing homophobic slurs in his eye-black. I guess Albert Pujols knew what the Marlins were up to after declining a heck of a lot more money to play for Miami then go to L.A. They have dumped $242,000,000 in salary since Last July, with July being the 4th month in their new stadium. I guess the Hanley Ramirez trade should have been a war ...
The Miami Marlins asked for taxpayer money to partially pay for their stadium. Then they got rid of a manager with a successful track record, albeit very outspoken, but they knew what they were getting. Then they trade one of their star players Hanley Ramirez to the Dodgers for much less value. Now they trade 3 very good players to Toronto for MUCH less value. How can anyone be a loyal Marlins fan?
I feel so bad for the Marlins fans who thought the new stadium and new name might make the owners turn over a new leaf and start respecting them. Locking up popular Marlins Hanley Ramirez and Josh Johnson for many years and signing great and big-money free agents Mark Buehrle, Jose Reyes and Heath Bell... promised a great future... but the ownership gave them all away to other teams for next to nothing. Another Marlins fire sale. Disgraceful.
No surprise here, Miami Marlins taking a machete to team payroll. Marlins originally started 2013 with about $84.85 in contract obligations, then shipped out Hanley Ramirez (15M), Heath Bell (7M), Omar Infante (4M) and Edward Mojica (1.625M) during the 2012 season, leaving them with $57.225 in salary obligations for 12 players (five eligible for arbitration). After yesterday's mega-deal with Toronto, they now have just $24.525 in committed salaries for 2013, having shipped out Jose Reyes (10M), Mark Buehrle (12M), Josh Johnson (13.75M), John Buck (6.5M) and Emilio Bonifacio (2.2M - arbitration). That means they trimmed payroll by 57.1 percent yesterday and have cut 71.09 percent in payroll from the original obligation of $84.85 million
Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes, Omar Infante, Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, and Heath Bell. All former MLB All stars gone in less than one year
What are the Marlins doing? Trading Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle to the Blue-Jays? They're a legit contender now if you put this 3 guys with Jose Bautista! Not to mention they traded Hanley Ramirez Anibal Sanchez, and Omar Infante to the Dodgers before the deadline last season and they traded Heath Bell to the Diamondbacks. Guillen was fired after only one year down their. In other word they traded a team of All-Stars!
And to think, Reyes was signed and Josh Johnson's contract was extended to justify the construction of a new stadium in Miami. Now they, along with Hanley Ramirez and Heath Bell, are long gone. Hey, at least Giancarlo Stanton remains. Poor Marlins fans. As Yogi would say, "It's like deja vu all over again" in Florida.
That is IT! I am officially DONE supporting the Miami Marlins. The new logo was bad enough, but they are run by two sharks named Jeffrey Loria and David Samson, traded Hanley Ramirez, and now they've just traded Mark Buerhle, Jose Reyes, and Josh Johnson. The Marlins are not a team, they are a clubhouse store and that is why I'm leaving the team I had loved as a boy and am now supporting the Tampa Bay Rays. So glad I live in Tampa.
What's going on in Miami? A year ago, the Marlins, getting ready to open their new stadium, go out and get a high profile manager in Ozzie Guillen to cater to the Hispanic population there. Then they go out and get high profile players like Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle. Since then Guillen has been fired, they made a huge trade with the Dodgers, getting rid of one of their marquee players in Hanley Ramirez. Now, they make a huge blockbuster trade with Toronto, getting rid of the rest of their big name, high salaried players in SP Josh Johnson, SS Jose Reyes, and SP Buerhle! They got pretty much nothing in return but a journeyman SS and prospects. This is not the first time they have held "fire sales". They seem to do it every few years to shed salary. This just seems really quick though. It must be very frustrating to be a Marlins fan. Now they have a brand new stadium with a bunch of season ticket holders and no players! Hmmm.
Lets go Marlins will do good this year we just traded away Jose Reyes, Emilio Bonifacio, John Buck, Hanley Ramirez, Heath Bell which nobody cares about, Josh Johnson, Buehler, and Anibal Sanchez all in one year *** where good at giving handouts.
Jeffrey Loria has got to be one of the absolute worst owners in sports. What a total scumbag. A year after he moves into a new stadium for which he extorted $500 million from Miami taxpayers to finance--something that cost Miami's former mayor his job in a recall election in 2011, following an SEC investigation into the financing deal--Loria has fired his manager and dealt Hanley Ramirez, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, and a slew of other starters. This, by the way, from an owner that was reprimanded in 2010 for keeping too much of the revenue sharing money the league gives the Marlins. An owner who lied to the Miami public about not making any profit at the old Sun Life Stadium, and who then was forced to eat crow when leaked financial documents revealed that the Marlins turned a $38 million profit in 2008, nearly twice the team's payroll of $22 million. It turns out that the Marlins crashing and burning last season was the best thing that could have possibly happened to Loria, because it gave h ...
In addition, Hanley Ramirez & Josh Johnson, despite being traded in sep. deals, are the Dontrelle Willis & Miguel Cabrera of these Marlins.
I hate baseball! So in the past year the marlins have given away (no I'm not even going to call it traded causes of the crap the got in return) their starting 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, C, CF, their best 3 pitchers and a closer. Names like Jose Reyes, Hanley Ramirez, Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, ..why try?
do this all the time Josh Beckett, Miguel Cabrera, Cody Ross, Derek lee, Juan Pierre, Hanley Ramirez,
Don't rule it out. Verlander, Kershaw, Felix Hernandez, Hanley Ramirez, and Pablo Sandoval are all free agents in 2014.
to all you jay fans out there with erections, Miami had all these players last season with Hanley Ramirez and Giancarlo Stanton and they were one of the worst teams in baseball in a much easier division, dont get to excited yet.
Marlins are so stupid lol! They always trade away talent for prospects that don't turn out. Miguel Cabrera, Josh Beckett, Hanley Ramirez...
So the LA Doyers, in an effort to get maximum production out of the likes of high-priced position players Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzales, that goddam Ethier, Matt Kemp, Carl Crawford, the Ellis guys and everyone in the starting lineup, will replace fired hitting coach Dave Hansen with.Mark McGwire?!??!? *** !!
Torii Hunter has said that if he didn't play for the Angels again next year, he would be interested in playing for the Yankees, Rangers, or Dodgers. I can't think of 3 worse teams to see my favorite baseball player of all time play for. After the new Dodgers ownership and subsequent roster improvements, I could entertain the thought of following them for as long as he played there. Matt Kemp, Adrian Gonzales, Hanley Ramirez, Carl Crawford, AND Torii Hunter, with Don Mattingly and Magic Johnson leading the way...what's not to like about that team? (other than risking you life to go to games). But if Torii ends up going to the Rangers or Yankees, I might be forced to give up the sport altogether. I didn't really expect Torii to get a qualifying offer at this point, but heres to hoping the Angels get their head straight and offer a discounted 2 year deal to their clubhouse leader. They may have a packed outfield and he may be 37, but he did hit .313 this year, aside from being a strong team leader with ...
Still can't get over the fact that the acquired Hanley Ramirez for just Nathan Eovaldi and Scott McGough
The Dodgers should go after David Wright just moved Hanley Ramirez over to third!!

Oh and also Matt Dominguez, Hanley Ramirez, Omar Infante, Gaby Sanchez, Anibal Sanchez, Edward Mujica, & Randy Choate have all been traded.
Marlins fire Ozzie Gullien, trade Hanley Ramirez, step a giant leap back into mediocrity and Miami Taxpayers are stuck to foot the bill.
*** Marlins just fired Ozzie. It is not his fault they traded away Hanley Ramirez and had horrible pitching.
I don't see another team stupid enough to take him. The Marlins are out. Dodgers have Hanley Ramirez. Yankees are stuck with him.
This may not have been the end to the season that cardinal nation had hoped for, but it did show a very bright future for the redbirds. They have 3 and possibly 4 future all star starting pitchers just waiting for their chance at the big league level, they have a young shortstop that at the end of the regular season reminded me of Hanley Ramirez, and a slough of outfielders just waiting to come up. Not to mention the next jimmy Edmonds in center. Good run cards and I cannot wait to see how bright this future that I'm seeing now is really going to be!
Did you just compare Hanley Ramirez to Scutaro? God. Giants fans these days…

Funny thing is, since they were traded anyways, Scutaro has been way more valuable than Hanley Ramirez.
definitely he could be a Hanley Ramirez with less power and better fielding

Just a reminder to all Dodger fans: If you would like to watch a team from the NL West play tonight, the Giants do so at 6:35. If you don't want to watch baseball, I suppose you can watch Matt Kemp or Hanley Ramirez host their very own cooking show. The Dodger players got a lot of free time on their hands, ya know!
hanley Ramirez in the first round. I was also burned by Josh Johnson
"Ordinary effort" from a different SS (e.g. Hanley Ramirez) wouldn't have even gotten him close to the ball

Colletti on Hanley Ramirez's position next year: "At this point in time, we're leaning toward shortstop.
Congrats to Miguel Cabrera. It has been 45 years since someone has accomplished the triple crown. Here is a list of some of the best all around hitters over the last 45 years... Feel free to add some of your own... Hank Aaron, Willie Stargel, George Brett, Robin Yount, Cal Ripken, Barry Bonds, A-Rod, Ryne Sandberg, Andre Dawson, Brooks Robinson, George Foster, Ken Griffey Jr, Joe Morgan, Mike Scmidt, Kirby Puckett, Dave Winfield, Joe Carter, Vladimer Guerroro, Pujols, Josh Hamilton, Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Adrian Gonzalez, Mark Grace(NOT), Matt Kemp, Dave Murphy, Steve Garvey, Matt Holiday, Dante Bichette(love that guy), Eric Davis, Hanley Ramirez, Don Mattingly. I am sure there are plenty of more to add to this list. I am trying to think of all around hitters, average, power, and rbi's. Congrats again to Miguel Cabrera!
The San Francisco Giants won the NL West, but can/will they win their second World Series title in three years? Here is why I think they can/will or can't/won't do so. I'll start with why they can/will: 1) Terrific starting pitching staff. It starts off with Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner. Ryan Vogelsong and Barry Zito have both done a terrific job this season as well. While Tim Lincecum has struggled, everyone knows what he is capable of if he figures it out. 2) An offense better than given credit for. Led by the Killer P's of Pagan, Pablo, Posey and Pence, this is an offense more than capable of putting up runs on the board against anyone. Plus they aren't fully reliant on the home run and are willing to manufacture runs, which is a plus come playoff time. 3) While you saw the Giants division rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers, add the likes of big names such as Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, etc. and even the Giants themselves add Hunter Pence, it was a name not nearly as highly regarded ...
Congrats to Miguel Cabrera on his Triple Crown Achievement! Also a big thank you to Kevin Jackson for trading him to me in our annual fantasy keeper league in 2007...ive had the luxury of having him on my team every year since and for every year in the foreseeable future! the trade you ask? Jose Reyes (Fantasy player at the time) and Kenny Rogers for Miguel Cabrera and Hanley Ramirez (Minor Leagues at this time)

I even got the franchise for Florida. I can do him AND Hanley Ramirez.
Angels have Pujouls we wanted him, they traded for Grienke, we wanted him, they have Trout. We wish we had him. Dodgers traded for Hanley Ramirez. We wanted him. Playoffs. Ask the Yankees. It isn't about having the best team occasionally. It is all about consistently giving yourselves the chance to win. The Cardinals have a chance. Oh, and Hanley Ramirez is the cancer that kills dreams.
Anyone know the story with the rake? Ramirez. Go
That's the season, it's hard to feel super disappointed when i saw this coming from the beginning of the year. This was always gonna be a transitional year and i think the team has made moves in the right direction. 1. New owners, and ones with money yay 2. Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez under contract signed for years to come (they have their question marks, but they are players with plenty of talent and the ability to help the team alot. 3. we're going into the off-season with money to compete with anyone (the rest of the NL best be scared of the possibilities these owners represent). So thats it, one more game tomorrow lets beat the gnats to end the season on a high note, and come playoffs i'll be pulling for anyone but the gnats. for the division series GO REDS!
Dodgers beefed up at trade deadline Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Bob Abreu, Brandon League, Nick Punto and Shane Victorino. . . they go from leading NL West to missing playoffs entirely in a 2 month span, WOW!!

Before we find out what happens, I'm gonna stick my neck out there and say that Hanley Ramirez is awesome
Lopez started the 8th inning and got Adrian Gonzalez. Interesting... going with Javy instead of Mijares since Lopez has been going after left-handed hitters in the 9th inning of games. Santiago Casilla coming in for Hanley Ramirez, which I'm happy about. Given how Hanley owns Sergio Romo, I wanted NO part of that matchup.
Cmn Adrian Gonzales , hanley ramirez , Luis Cruzzz if anyone gets on Andre either !
