We're done with our walk through. Took about 6 1/2 hours. Only one thing got Ann singing the hallelujah chorus (literally)--batik panels that are really cool. We'll post pictures tomorrow unless we decide we still have energy and go back. We ordered the complete line of the American Made Brand cotton solids. The quality is excellent and it's s great story, too. You guys will love it. That was our first order of Market although we did stock up on Jen Kingwell patterns earlier.
Mr Cummings, You don't remember me but I remember you very well. I have had a rich life as an athlete, physician, husband and father. One of my greatest memories in this rich life was singing The Hallelujah Chorus under your direction with the Pittsburgh Symphony. Thank you for your enthusiasm and passion that led to that opportunity! Ironically, when I'm asked "where were you when JFK was assassinated" I remember that as well…I was in your class when the announcement went over the intercom. You may also remember that time. I hope you take pride in all the lives you have touched in such a positive way. Enjoy life. My Best, Charli Bova, MD NHHS '66
By Michael Tan I’ve been asked to prepare a paper for a conference on management and culture, with a particular focus: What are the main challenges that face leaders in the Philippines when it comes to organizational dynamics? When I was first asked that question, two words flashed immediately in my head: “sipsip” and “sulsul.” Sipsip and sulsul (imagine them as terrorist twins or a two-headed monster) make no distinctions, feasting on small, medium and large offices; government and private organizations; businesses, political parties and religious groups. They’re also a plague in many families and clans, turning even the closest siblings into the worst of enemies. The sipsip and sulsul certainly aren’t specific to the Philippines. You find them everywhere, but in the Philippines, they seem to thrive particularly well because of a particular configuration of social and historical circumstances. Let me first describe the two creatures and their feeding habits, and then talk about the environm ...

I get goosebumps on my goosebumps whenever I read the last doxology in the last chapter of the book of Psalms. Even though I do not show my emotions very much what the Psalmist wrote makes me want to shout, dance, beat a drum or at least wiggle my toes. It is much like the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's Messiah that causes an audience to stand whenever it is sung. Read. Ponder. Worship. "Praise The Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him for his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing symbols! Let everything that has breath praise The Lord! Praise The Lord! The Lord willing I will refer to these same verses in my post tomorrow being that I don't wish to become too wordy in what I write today. But as I conclude this post I will make a final commen ...
Watched my baby boy, who is now 17, walk out the door his morning for his last day of school. Thought I would be a little choked up, but rather, broke into the Hallelujah Chorus. There were days that I wondered if this day would ever come. Thankful for our little village of Brian Katauskas, Ivan Portillo, Roger Casterline, Carl Tipton, Kevin Urichko and so many others that carried Harrison Johnson and us through both spiritually and physically at times! We appreciate your "tough love" and accountability that have made Harrison the fine, young man he has grown to be today!! I am eternally grateful.
I gave Bertie a boiled egg and he was like *hallelujah chorus*

He went to the eye doctor. He proudly read a row of letters with his right eye. " X O R N C S" . The doctor then puts a lens in front of his eye. He laughs as he reads the same line, " K D R H O S ". I laugh along with him. His prescription has changed, so he will require new glasses. We go out to the glasses picking spot. Racks of frames are on three walls. Shelves and drawers contain the same. My son and I set out to shop. This child hates shopping. This rapidly growing 12 year old that we cannot keep in one size of shoe for two months, hates to shop, hates to try on clothing, and says "I don't care..." to everything (when in truth, I think he does care) has to decide which frames he would like. This should be fun. There is a rack of 69 dollar frames. I head him in that direction first since, on our last visit, he found a pair of frames that he liked quite well. He tried on the suitable to the ridiculous. "Lets just get these ones Mom" as he tried on the 14th pair. I said, "Do you like them?" ...
Dusk was incredible! Thank you to everyone who took part (including singing the Hallelujah Chorus) and to all the staff who provided fairy lights/jam jars/hot chocolate. It was a pleasure to share the evening with you. Photos will be posted soon, but here are some snippets from emails I’ve received today: ‘Please let the young musicians know how much the Governing Body members enjoyed their musicianship and courage!’ ‘The concert last night was fantastic. Soulful, atmospheric and courageous - you and the students put on a tremendous performance.’ ‘What an absolutely brilliant performance by all of your pupils & a truly wonderful evening.’

It the last day in the Chemo Castle of Colchester! Well, for this round anyway! Even the sun is out again to celebrate!!! Not that I'm counting or anything, but 9 hrs 15 mins till the last bag of chemo runs thru :-) then. Freedom! (Please insert quick blast of hallelujah chorus). A relatively interesting night on the ward last night, the entire population appeared to be trying to sound out a rendition of Big Ben's repertoire on their buzzers, which each time saw me sitting bolt upright in bed, checking my two chemo pumps! Not exactly relaxing places these hospitals!!! Which means I am looking forward greatly to being waited on hand and foot for the weekend, peel those grapes and prepare to mop my fevered brow John, I'm coming home tonight :-) I can't wait, I wonder if he feels the same? Big hugs one n all xxx

Thank you to the amazing choir at Mount Baker Park Presbyterian Church for a wonderful first Easter. Holy Week has been beautiful and meaningful and I so appreciate the dedication of this fine choir. We did so much music this past week and each of you stayed on top of everything. Finally, I love the MBPPC tradition of inviting "whosoever will" to come forward and join us in the "Hallelujah Chorus." I wasn't sure just how that would turn out, but with the strong leadership of this choir and many, many fine voices who joined us, the sound and the spirit was amazing. Thanks be to God! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
Today I get to add yet another page in the book of "Why I Love My Town" - started the day in a beautiful Easter service -- fabulous sermon and music (Bell Choir, Hallelujah Chorus and Widor Toccata), spent the afternoon with wonderful (family) friends -- had an Easter egg hunt, ham, mac & cheese, lemon curd cake, then the evening at our Ghanaian friend's birthday party -- incredible African food, dancing, and gyl playing!! And then the weather.perfect. Bloomington has burst into Bloom.
I am so very proud of my choir this Holy Week. They blew the doors down at the Easter Vigil this evening. With all the singing they did, I was amazed at how powerful and mighty their Hallelujah Chorus was. And they're coming back tomorrow.

Argh. Practicing for the Hallelujah Chorus for Easter Sunday is killing my voice. From now until Wednesday night, it's going to be listening, reading, and remembering high school choir. I will sing it Wednesday night =) I won't (well, I'll try not to) burst into Hallelujah in the car anymore lol. We don't need Michael getting into a car accident because of my starting the Hallelujah Chorus unannounced =)

Things learned at tonight's choir practice: 1) they ruined the Mass of Light Gloria when they revised it for the Roman Missal changes. Went from being my favorite Gloria to just awful. 2) "edification of the soul" sounds like a great name for a band 3) one of our songs for the Easter Vigil sounds like an intro for "Hava Nigila" (apologies for any misspelling) 4) Hallelujah chorus is still awesome :)
We have 20 people out for choir tonight including 7 men. We are singing Hallelujah chorus for Easter

Did you know "Messiah" was actually written for Easter, not Christmas? But the singalongs are almost always in connection with the latter. Here's a chance to try to hit the "Hallelujah Chorus" high notes in connection with the intended season.
Brass rehearsal is on for tonight, Thurs., 10 APR, 7:30 p.m. as we work on music for Easter Sunday and for 4 MAY 14. Remember also that we are scheduled for rehearsal this Saturday, 12 APR, from 9 – 10:00 a.m. Note also that, because we can’t have brass rehearsal next Thursday, 17 APR because of Maundy Thursday, we will rehearse on Wed., 16 APR, 7:30 p.m. with the Chancel Choir. We’ll can set up in the sanctuary and will rehearse: • Hallelujah from Mount of Olives • Hallelujah Chorus (I was wrong last week, we are doing this version as well) • Jesus Christ is Risen today (otherwise known as Christ the Lord Is Risen Today, with choir, bells) • Hymn - Christ is Alive • Hymn - Easter People Raise Your Voices We will not be able to rehearse on Sat., 19 APR because of the 24-hour Easter prayer vigil, so each of our practices over the next few weeks is very important. Please do your best to make all of them. Thanks. See you tonight!

Random Hallelujah The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is a national establishment dedicated to artistic excellence, funding local arts projects that engage communities in collective cultural experiences. With the assistance of the ever- and omni- potent YouTube, they put themselves on the map in recent years with an initiative they called “Random Acts of Culture.” Call it a cultural experiment in the transformational power of the arts, Mozart in the mall, tango in the airport terminal, or Puccini at the farmers’ market—the result was art in unusual places, wide-eyed children and startled shoppers, culture interrupted by culture. The idea was simple. Gather a group of talented artists in a particular city—a string quartet from the Charlotte Symphony, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, or two very gifted dancers—and set them loose from the concert halls to stage a performance in the street. Or, as it were, in the shoe department. Shoppers at a very crowded shoe sale in Miami were startled ...

Jimmy's Renderings 4-13-14 A long-time friend used a phrase that keeps coming to mind: making memories for his customers. This clearly dealt with ensuring that the customer felt connected to the business and absolutely knew they had more than just a business relationship. The customers were to enjoy experiencing the fellowship and had the knowledge that the employee handling their business knew about them as persons and cared about them. What a neat idea. This is why I use the word "family" when I talk about First Baptist Church. We are truly family. I enjoy hearing the stories so many of you tell of how church has been an integral part of your life memories. Some have funny stories; others make confessions of things they did while sitting in a pew; some speak of the spiritual lessons they learned and continue to use; some speak of how they met their life-mates at church (I am one of those); and still others share poignant memories. Right smack in the middle of the memories are Jesus and His Church Fa ...

SP ALUMNI INVITED TO BE PART OF A FLASH MOB 13th April, rehearsal on 8th Dear Singers, A few days ago, Carolyn Lowry sent me an email with the following request: Guy Cooper (Wayside Community Relations) rang me yesterday to ask if I could help facilitate a Flash Mob to sing the Hallelujah Chorus for the Wayside Chapel on Sunday 13th April at 12 noon. The Flash Mob would be part of well-publicised celebrations to commemorate Wayside's 50th Anniversary supporting underprivileged folk and those struggling with addiction. Last year Peter and I attended the Opening of Wayside's new building and were impressed by the media coverage and the calibre of the invited guests including The Governor, local member Malcolm Turnbull, Federal member Tanya Plebersek, the Lord Mayor Clover Moore, media personalities and generous benefactors. Wayside has been supported by a number of well-known performing artists over the years including Teddy Tahu Rhodes and violinist Aubrey Murphy. I also noticed Simon Kenway was there at t ...
On Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 6 pm PST (7 pm MST), Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, presented its 35th annual Christmas Concert, which was Live Streamed. John MacArthur is the Pastor-Teacher of this church and one of my favorite pastors. As a born again, Bible believing Christian, and a musician, I was thrilled and moved to the very core of my soul with the music...all of it: Orchestra, Worship Choir, Handbell Choir, Children's Choir, Joyous Sound, and the Soloists including Christopher Parkening (classical guitarist). Blessedly it will be on Live Streamed Replay throughout Wednesday, December 25th. You have only to log onto the website by clicking on the link below. Plug in some good speakers, turn up the sound, and fill your computer screen with the video. It is a great way to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. About two hours long, including a short, sharply perceptive message from John MacArthur, just before the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. ...

A great weekend of music at Wooddale Church! The annual Christmas at Wooddale concert presented identical concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon. The worship center was mostly full for all performances and the audiences really enjoyed the music. The Wooddale Traditional Choir was joined by guest choir, Twin Cities Master's Chorale, and supported by an almost 40 piece professional quality orchestra. Guest vocalist was Robert Robbinson who stopped the program by singing the lead on a medley of Amen and Go Tell It on the Mountain. Guest organist was Paul Jacobs, chair of the organ department at Julliard School of Music. He performed brilliantly as a soloist, and joined Wooddale organist Woody Johnson to accompany the choir and orchestra on the Hallelujah Chorus, using both organ consoles. New this year was a brief devotional by Dale Hummel, Sr. pastor, who also expressed thanks and support for Dave Hoel, the director and "creative genious" behind this annual presentation. If you are w ...

O Come All Ye Faithful/Hallelujah Chorus by Mariah Carey on prod by:
OK so I got sucked into this. Tiffany Martin Hamilton gave me the so here are seven things about me. If you like my status, maybe I'll give you a number too. 1. I lived in Turkey for two years and and can still count to 40 and tell a bus driver to stop in Turkish. 2. I majored in English and minored in French at a Quaker school (Guilford College) but didn't graduate because... 3. I left to learn a trade. Originally, it was going to be welding but somehow I ended up in radio. 4. I was part of a wonderful Grammy winning project (All About Bullies Big And Small) and got to go up on the Grammy stage and all that. 5. I'm pretty good at needlework and kind of good with stained glass. 6. I can play the Hallelujah Chorus (Handel not Cohen) on piano and organ. 7. I make killer guacamole.

Tonight my I pad switched to an unlikely selection; the Messiah by Handel. Any other night, I would have looked over this particular shuffle, but tonight it struck something in me. A song usually reserved for emotions only parallel to Christmas, suddenly meant so much more. Since I can remember, I have heard this glorious 2 and half hour symphony at every midnight service on Christmas Eve & the Bass Hall. Not until Carriage Hall in New York City, when I was asked to stand and honor my grandmother and mother Sally Vandermolen & Robyn Dellamura as they sang the Hallelujah Chorus do I remember the immense emotions and tears I felt while watching them sing, "Where are the refreshments?" suddenly turned into a paralyze of intense belief. (Keeping in mind I was all of 10 years old) I'll hear that same song for years more to come, accept it won't have the same paralyzing, hair raising, effect on me that it had tonight. Having a strong enough faith to trust him in good times will always be easy, but having an ev ...

11/12/13 ~ never again, Nov. 12, 2013 in American Samoa totally precious! Life is bizzze on the beautiful rock, still thinking of my cousin Lt. Col Max Galea'i who died in Iraq, thank him for the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live free & wonderfully in our little island in the South Pacific. Went to the bank, didn't growl at the BOH folks for having 1-teller, this time they had 3 & I smiled & thanked the girl who served me, tho' she was kind of rude but I forgive her. She's ugly & needs Jesus. :-) I heard from my sis M Suluama Hiner, one of my closest friends from my Fagatogo days, gosh I was 8 & she was what... 4? Fa'afetai fai uso, ma-lo fautua ~ we serve the most living God Who is Jesus Christ, died on the Cross & lives forever more! I know because His Holy Spirit comforts me. Then I ran into my sis Alesi Petaia-Aga, a living testimony of God's grace in Siona Leone, ever so sweet & kind, we prayed in my car, cried & laughed, grateful to the Lord for our parents who served as missionaries in ...

Lesa Robbins Culver and I supported John W. Schlitt Christmas CD, THE CHRISTMAS PROJECT. I am going to have to break my own rule of no Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. While downloading my digital copy (because we supported the CD financially) The Hallelujah Chorus started playing. Fantastic stuff, there is no way that I will be able to wait until after Thanksgiving to listen to this project. For those that are interested in buying the CD, it is supposed to be released to the public by Thanksgiving. YOU NEED TO BUY IT.What I have heard so far is AMAZING!

Oooo I remember singing hallelujah in chorus senior year
This past Sunday, we began a new study called "The Messiah." Our initial message dealt with the question, "Who is Jesus?" We started with Peter's confession. When asked this same thing by Jesus, he said, "Thou art the Christ the Son of the living God (Matthew 16:16)." This is the Rock. It is the foundation for all that we believe. To be truly born again, we must believe this in our heart and confess it with our mouth (Romans !0:9-10). Before we can sincerely believe it, we must know what it means. There are two thoughts here. First, Jesus is the Christ. Christ is the Greek equivalent of Messiah. Jesus is the promised Messiah of the Old Testament, with all that means. Second, Jesus is the Son of God. In other words, He is divine in nature. He is not just man but God/man. This concept as the first is revealed in the Old Testament. Jesus is this person, because He fulfilled the Old Testament law and prophets. The ceremonial law is about various types and patterns that point to the work of the ...

Day 9: I'm thankful for music. Whether it's a simple song like "Jesus Loves Me" or a more detailed song like "The Hallelujah Chorus" it's always been able to calm me, inspire me, and cheer me up. And now it does the same for my boys! Day 10: I'm thankful God gave me a good singing voice so I can prettily sing to my boys!
On the tenth day of November I'm thankful for George Frideric Handel. His 'Messiah' still blesses my home in the beginning of each Christmas season and lasts until the new year rings in. The Hallelujah Chorus echoes off of my walls every day while I anticipate and enjoy this wonderful time of year. Since 1742 that song has stirred souls to look to the heavens. I hope to leave a drop of that wonderment behind when I leave this beautiful earth.
Just rehearsed Christmas songs for 2 hours with 100 singers culminating in Handel's Hallelujah Chorus. It was amazing. Can't wait for our Free Christmas Concert on December 15th.

Experimenting with a new Piccolo trumpet mouthpiece. I play on fairly small equipment, so it is about the diameter of a Pierobon Lead 2, but with a lateral dip of 35/1000 and a deeper, V shaped cup. Just in time for the Hallelujah Chorus.
I'm sitting near the fire, with my Thanksgiving mug of spearmint tea and my Bible Study of the book of Esther where God is not mentioned directly, but His providence and promise is all through the story. My need for music in the background and 100.5's pre-season Christmas playlist just gave me 'Mary, Did You Know?' & 'Hallelujah Chorus'. Yep, quite a Promise!
Awkward moment in singing tree practice tonight. I was singing the alto part of the Hallelujah Chorus very nicely. Only problem is - I'm a soprano. Guess I'd better brush up on that one!
Honoring James A. Major. A great mentor, friend, teacher who introduced me to music., Helped get me into NCCU and the Touring Choir there, wrote my letter of application to Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., visited me on line and helped me, taught me to play piano, and in my past mess, didn't judge me but always had encouragement. remember he and my dad in the Fellows Club, his repeating of lazy sopranos and dumb altos, Adeste Fideles, somebody's hair always catching on fire, Hallelujah Chorus. Rest in Peace my frat.Phi Nu Pi to you.. If you sung in his choir write a comment or memory.
Would anyone like to come a see Stow Chorale (my choir) sing quite a lot of Handell's Messiah at the John Peel Centre next Saturday, 16th Nov at 7.30. (There's a bar!) We might be quite good!! I think you can sing along if you like, specially the Hallelujah chorus. Let me know - I'll get you a ticket. I think its about £10. Thanks!
The good folks at Wilson High School had a tenuous grasp on the notion of separation of church and state back in my day and so the high school chorus sang Vivaldi's Gloria and The Messiah (by memory). Even though I'm hardly a person of faith, I still love those works. Every year, I look for Singalong Messiah events I can participate in because there is nothing like singing the Hallelujah Chorus as part of a large choir. This year's Sing Messiah! event in Berks is coming two weeks early. I'm telling you, if you've never done it, head to Lincoln Park next Sunday and give it a try! According to the poster, it will be the current conductor's last performance. I sure hope that doesn't mean that it's the last singalong! For some reason, the link to the poster can't be shared. Can't even copy and paste text from the poster, so search Sing Messiah Lincoln Park and you'll get right to the link.
At last, American Literature online is finished on the exact due date. I think I can hear the angels singing the Hallelujah Chorus.
Today, a little heresy for the Rev. Vladimir Putin….In his op-ed piece in the New York Times, Russian President Vladimir Putin donned some highly unlikely pastoral robes to preach to America about its sin of exceptionalism. The pastor of the Great Church of the Holy Imposter declared that all nations are different, “but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.” Well, I’m afraid I can’t sing the Hallelujah Chorus to the idea that all nations are the same. I don’t believe that nations that murder their own citizens, whether with gas, bullets or bombs, or those that call for the annihilation of all Jews or Christians, often in God’s name, are equal to those that at least attempt to function as a nation of laws. Forgive me, Rev. Putin, but I’ll keep believing America is an exceptional country, and refuse to believe that it’s dangerous to believe that. I think we’ve just learned that the danger comes when we stop believing that we’re exceptio . ...
