YES, CONGRESS CAN CONTROL USCIS SPENDING House Appropriations Committee chairman Rep. Hal Rogers says President Obama's forthcoming executive amnesty is beyond the reach of his committee, something that has been reported to mean that Congress has no means of preventing it at all. But Rogers and 25 members of his spending panel all voted for a bill to do just that in August, and experts say that Congress' ability to determine how U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services spends the fees it collects is not in question. The Appropriations Committee said in a statement to Thursday: The primary agency for implementing the President's new immigration executive order is the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). This agency is entirely self-funded through the fees it collects on various immigration applications. Congress does not appropriate funds for any of its operations, including the issuance of immigration status or work permits, with the exception of the 'E-Verify' program. Therefore, the Appro ...

CREW’s ninth report on congressional corruption names 17 members of Congress—13 members who engaged in serious misconduct and four members whose transgressions brought them a dishonorable mention. Seven members are on the list for the first time this year, and 10 are returning. In fact, six—Reps. Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Michael Grimm (R-NY), Gregory Meeks (D-NY), Hal Rogers (R-KY), Don Young (R-AK), and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY)—are on the list for at least the third time. Why are we still talking about these six? If the Department of Justice (DOJ), the House and Senate ethics committees, and the Federal Election Commission (FEC) were doing their jobs, we wouldn’t be. The glacial pace of investigations into misconduct means many cases have dragged on for years and some have been dropped entirely with no explanation, despite strong evidence.

can't get out, but that does not mean I am not doing something, talking to Mitch McConnell, Marco Ribio, Hal Rogers, Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, Louis Gohmert, Ted Cruz, John McCane, Nancy Polisi, Harry Reid, and others about this stupid immigration bill, why are they wasting time and money to pass more laws when they are not bothering to enforce current ones , there is no reason to trust any of them, they were supposed to build a fence and secure the borers 30 yrs ago.DUH This should not even be a issue, I believe it is just another distraction trying to keep us from seeing how corrupt this administration is
I researched some statistics on our county a while back, and went back and looked them over again this morning. I've been fuming ever since. Let me tell you some things that maybe you didn't know about good old McCreary County. Did you know that, per capita, our average income here is less than $10,000 a year? 21st poorest county per capita in the nation, with Clay County the only county poorer. Even more disturbing is our rank in household income. With under $20,000 per year income, McCreary ranks 23rd poorest county in the United States! Think about this. Hal Rogers has been in office since 1981. Mitch McConnell has been in office since 1985. Our unemployment rate is somewhere around 14.7%. Why do we keep electing these *** ??!!! They've been calling the shots for us for 30 years! Why, why, why do we elect them back, term after term, and then expect something different than what we've gotten so far? It's the definition of insanity! Yes, I am a Republican. But when someone has been in ...

At least 11 other GOP lawmakers have lobbied the Obama administration to accept grant applications from healthcare interests in their states, according to documents obtained by The Nation. The letters primarily focused on two grants established by the Affordable Care Act — one to fight chronic disease and one to expand community health centers. "The lawmakers who sought funds included Sens. John Cornyn (Texas), Rob Portman (Ohio), Thad Cochran (Miss.), Saxby Chambliss (Ga.) and Johnny Isakson (Ga.), and Reps. The Madison Report www.MadisonProject.com THE MADISONIAN: The week of March 4 - March 8 Fellow conservative patriots, The sequester began to take effect last Friday, and much to the chagrin of the statists, nobody has noticed the difference. Will Republicans cave and abjure their last opportunity to defund Obamacare before it takes effect next year? The stakes are high in Washington, DC this week. Today marks one year since Muna was abducted. The FBI confirmed that her father and she traveled one way to Bamako, Mali on Royal Air Maroc airlines out of JFK airport in New York. I would not know for sure that hed taken her until New Years Day, when i sat at the McDonalds parking lot way past noon, the court ordered time for him to bring her back to me. But even before then, i knew in my heart what had happened. Its been a tough day and a tough holiday...even for me and my normally faith-filled heart. I got a very nice Christmas gift from Senate Minority Leader and my Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell just before Christmas, though. He sent a letter to Mali Ambassador Keita expressing concern and urging cooperation for her return. That was done just 2 days after I met with his staff. so we take comfort in knowing that Muna's name is being spoken at the highest levels of government. I pray the other senators and Rep. Hal Rogers will follow suit. Still, there's this hole in the center of my chest, her siste ...

Good Evening :-) I hardly know where to begin this has been such an amazing day. I believe to sum it up I should tell you all that TOMORROW we have a 10:30 am meeting with Rep. Hal Rogers legislative director, a 1 p.m meeting with Senator Rockefeller's senior adviser, a 3:30 meeting with Senator *** foreign policy adviser, a 4:15 meeting with Senator Rand Paul's adviser, and a 5 p.m. meeting with Senator Mitch McConnell's adviser. Can you imagine how we felt as we kept getting these confirmations??? Only God. If that's not mind-blowing enough, we went to a talk at the U.S. Institute for Peace where there was a discussion on the worsening crisis in northern Mali. We stood silently at the back with our protest signs, and afterward, a woman from Mali that I knew through my exhusband but havent seen in 4 years came up to us and was appalled at the abduction. She brought two more Malians over who were equally dismayed and they gave me some very useful legal and cultural suggestions. That was AFTER the N ...

News from The Hill: House GOP leaders: Talks may extend past Christmas, ‘serious differences’ remain By Russell Berman House Republican leaders on Wednesday warned their members they may have to return to Washington after Christmas, claiming that “serious differences” remained in negotiations to avoid the “fiscal cliff.” “The president seems to be walking us ever so slowly towards the cliff,” House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told reporters after a closed-door conference meeting. “We’ve said we’re committed to staying here. We’re going to stay here right up until Christmas Eve and throughout the time period before the new year because we want to make sure we resolve this in an acceptable way for the American people.” Party leaders delivered the same message inside the meeting, lawmakers said. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said “we’re in for a hard, long fight as long as the White House refuses to get involved by proposing cuts in spending,” said Rep. Hal Rogers (R-K ...

Last week I sent the Lexington Herald-Leader a response to an October 30 editorial concerning re-electing Hal Rogers of the Kentucky 5th congressional district. After sending my article I soon realized the HL had endorsed Rogers for re-election so my article will probably not be published. I do not support Rogers for re-election so if you care to read my article see below. * An Op-ed, by Stanley Sturgill ROGERS HAS KNOWLEDGE OF POOR, BUT NO SOLUTIONS Caught the October 30, Herald- Leader, editorial, titled, “Re-Elect Hal Rogers in Fifth District.” The article was interesting to say the least. I agree, Rogers may be one of the most powerful politicians in Washington, but that is certainly not reason enough for me, a 5th district voter, to vote for his re-election to a 17th term. No matter if democrats are not planning to unseat him. I live in the coal mining town of Lynch, in Harlan County near the highest peak of Kentucky. Yes, I live in Mr. Rogers neighborhood. Yes, as the editorial proclaims ...
Hal Rogers (R-KY) and Scott Brown (R-MA) are symptoms of a deep cancer in our country called Republicans aka American Taliban.
I would like to know why people are so *** President Obama when Hal Rogers turned electric companies to gas instead of coal, Mitch McConnell didn't do anything in the last 4 years except be an obstructionist against economic growth which is a treasonous act against our country and John Boehner who would throw temper tantrums and storm out of meetings like a 6 year old. Mitt Romney SHUT DOWN COAL PLANTS WHEN HE WAS GOVERNOR. I know that there is a high rate of illerterate people in this country and people that do not have access to the internet, BUT there are libraries through this nation that will help people find what they need. So before anyone opens theirs mouth and says something that is going to embarrass themselves LOOK UP THE FACTS and come at me as an intelligent person.
Wall Street and Big Coal corporations have no better friend than Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY), the "prince of pork" and powerful chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
I've noticed a number of you hand wringing over the current state of NFL officiating. There's a lot of "just give the refs what they want" & "save the integrity of the game" out there. You folks do realize that the regular NFL referees belong to a union, right? A union the NFL would very much like to break, you know, not unlike Scott Walker or John Kasich or Mitch Daniels or Chris Christie or Rick Scott, or any of the rest of their political ilk (See, e.g., Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, Hal Rogers). Apparently that's ok, though, as long as they don't mess with your entertainment. Cops & teachers & firemen & other public servants don't really need a fair wage for the jobs they do & certainly don't need the ability to negotiate en masse, but BY GOD, just give these refs whatever they want so I can get back to enjoying watching large, sweaty men pound on each other. You gotta admire hypocrisy taken to that level.
Dear Friends and Colleagues, I’m writing in the hope that you’ll submit comments to FDA supporting the citizen petition for label changes on opioid analgesics. Here’s the link where you can submit comments: As you may have heard, a couple of weeks ago PROP filed this petition with FDA. This request has received support from members of Congress, including Rep. Mary Bono Mack and Hal Rogers, so we believe that FDA is paying close attention. You can read the petition here: And here’s a press release about the petition that was issued by Public Citizen: If FDA implements our request, opioid manufacturers will be prohibited from promoting long-term use of opioids for chronic non-cancer pain and the medical community will be informed that this practice has not been proven safe and effective. We believe that this will help reduce overprescribing of opioids. And since it’s overprescribing that’s harming pain patients and fueling the opioid addiction epidemic, the label change could help bring this pu ...

Had a great day in DC today. Met with *** Mulvaney, Tim Scott, Jeff Duncan, Joe Wilson, Linday Graham, Jim DeMint, John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Pete Sessions, and Hal Rogers among others. All were very supportive. What an honor! I am so very excited about the prospect of joining our outstanding South Carolina delegation. If I can win in November I would be honored to use my talents forged in 25 years as a CPA and Tax Attorney to try to help our great nation avoid the economic risks which are converging in January with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts, the payroll tax cuts, the inception of the obamacare taxes, the automatic sequestration from the debt ceiling negotiations last year. It will be a real challenge, and an opportunity to put our country back on a path to economic stability.
I hope Ky 5th Congressional District will wake up and get rid of "King of Pork" Hal Rogers in Nov. He has drained us long enough
Forgot my boy Hal Rogers ... From my blog ...
Hal Rogers boasts about promoting global warming in cutting environmental dollars. "troublesome greenhouse gas regulations," he says. COLUMN: The War on Coal: Fighting Back Washington, DC, Jun 22 - COLUMN: The War on Coal: Fighting Back By Hal Rogers 461 words President Obama’s war on coal is working. The Arch Coal layoffs are just the latest blow in a series of thrown punches at coal and coal mining families. Last month, Kentucky Power decided to forego a $1 billion upgrade at the Big Sandy Plant putting this coal-burning facility’s future on life support. On June 8, Alpha Natural Resources announced 400 mining operation layoffs in Martin and Pike Counties. Now some 600 dedicated Arch Coal miners along the Kentucky and Cumberland Rivers are getting pink slips. By some estimates, 1300 Kentucky miners have been sent home this year. My heart goes out to all of the mining families now facing joblessness, particularly at a time of sustained and record level unemployment. While the coal business climate ha ...
Eric cantor, John kyle, Mitch Mc., Hal Rogers speaker of the house, Issa, these folks must be held accountable if not our country is still
On May 16, a federal court in New York set aside for the time being section 1021 of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act. I am thankful for her ruling. This section actually gave authority to the military, at presidential direction to arrest and detain without trail those citizens that the president deemed a bellegerant. Several months ago I contacted Congressman Rogers about this loss of freedom. In his letter to me he stated that the 2012 Defense Act, gave no additional powers to the president that the 2001 Defense Act had. I read the 2001 act as well as the 2012 act and knew congressman Rogers was wrong. The federal judge in her ruling apparently felt the same as did I. I voted for Hal Rogers and will do so again, if no other reason than to prevent the return of Speaker Nancy, the bad witch from the west. I only can hope that in whatever election that I may vote, that I could vote for someone, instead of against someone. My heart yearns for term limits instead of coronations.
Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY) There is more mountaintop removal mining in Kentucky Congressman Hal Rogers’ district than any other district in the United States. Unfortunately, his district also has the seventh highest poverty rate in the nation, with more than 37 percent of the children living below the poverty line, and his constituents ranked dead last in physical and emotional well-being in Gallup’s 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 well-being surveys of all 435 congressional districts in the country. Since 1999, Rogers has received more than $430,000 of industry contributions, including significant sums from some of the nation’s largest polluters such as Alpha Natural Resources and Arch Coal. In 2010, he sponsored a bill to defund the EPA’s efforts to protect Appalachian citizens from the toxic valley fills associated with mountaintop removal.
