Vishu (Malayalam: വിഷു) is a Hindu festival celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala and as Bisu in the Karnataka region(Mangalore & Udupi districts), usually in the second week of April in the Gregorian calendar.[1][2]
Easter is an annual festival observed throughout the Christian world. The date for Easter shifts every year within the Gregorian Calendar. The Gregorian Calendar is the standard international calendar for civil use. In addition, it regulates the ceremonial cycle of the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches. The current Gregorian ecclesiastical rules that determine the date of Easter trace back to 325 CE at the First Council of Nicaea convened by the Roman Emperor Constantine. At that time the Roman world used the Julian Calendar (put in place by Julius Caesar). The Council decided to keep Easter on a Sunday, the same Sunday throughout the world. To fix incontrovertibly the date for Easter, and to make it determinable indefinitely in advance, the Council constructed special tables to compute the date. These tables were revised in the following few centuries resulting eventually in the tables constructed by the 6th century Abbot of Scythia, Dionysis Exiguus. Nonetheless, different means of calculations con ...
In Assam, Pohela Boishakh is celebrated as Bihu and also known as Assamese New Year. King Shoshangko of ancient Bengal is credited with starting the Bengali era. The starting point of the Bengali era is estimated to be in 594 in the Gregorian calendar. Hence Bengali year is 594 less than the Gregorian calendar if it is before Pohela Boishakh or 593 less if it is after Pohela Boishakh.

So, because of the lunar eclipse tonight I thought I'd share something cool. Julia Marshall and I had our first month-iversary together on a full moon. It just so happened that our second month-iversary was on a full moon as well. So we decided that we would count our months together according to the natural lunar cycle, rather than the man-made Gregorian calendar. Tonight, the lunar eclipse marks one half-year together, which is very special indeed. What's even more special, is that the NEXT lunar eclipse will happen on 8 October, 2014, which happens to be our one year anniversary.
Your assumption is based off of the Gregorian Calendar established in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII. Read Exodus 12
How the Easter Date is Determined In 325CE the Council of Nicaea established that Easter would be held on the first Sunday after the first full moon occurring on or after the vernal equinox. From that point forward, the Easter date depended on the ecclesiastical approximation of March 21 for the vernal equinox. According to the Gregorian calendar, Easter falls on a Sunday between March 22 and April 25. Easter for 2014 is April 20 and Easter for 2015 is April 5.

A date is nothing but a arbitrary artifact in the Gregorian calendar, but thanks anyway to all who wished me a happy birthday, wow not too far to half a century, even if i die tonight i can honestly say i had a long, eventful life without any regrets, what an adventure it was, well i expect to be around for a very long time, not up to me though
Vishu Festival heralds the beginning of Malayalese New Year and is celebrated in a big way in the state of Kerala and the adjoining areas of Tamil Nadu. Vishu falls on the first day in the Malayalam month of Medam. As per the Gregorian Calendar Vishu falls on the 14 April, the same day when Punjab celebrates Baisakhi, Tamil Nadu celebrates Puthandu, Assam celebrates Ronagali Bihu and Bengal celebrates Naba Barsha. Auspicious day of Vishu marks the Sun's transit to the zodiac Mesha Raasi as per Indian astrological calculations. happy vishu dears.
On a planet circling a distant star, does one celebrate Easter according to the Gregorian calendar or the planetary calendar?
Calendars definitely keep me sane. Thank you for inventing Gregorian Calendar. 🙏🙏🙏
Some of you have been discouraged due to not having seen the manifestation of Gods promises that were prophesied to come "this year". I'm here to tell you that God is not a man that He should lie nor the son of man that He need repent. You see, the Gregorian calendar is not Gods calendar. So your "New Year" is not Gods New Year. Gods New Year began THIS month in the Hebrew Calendar month of Nisan. It's year 5774. We are 14, 2hrs away from being 15 days in the TRUE New Year according to Gods sovereign & divine seasons of release and promise. He is not late. He is right. on. schedule and time. "Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you." (Exodus 12:1, 2 NKJV)

And if Gregorian calendar is proved, then the Zodiacs too. But remember the key.
Wonder why Holy Week doesn't have fixed dates? If you can recall, Holy Week ran from March 24 to 30 last year and now we celebrate it from April 13 to 20, 2014. Since 1582, the Holy Week starts as early as March 22, and ends as late as the last weeks of April. The dates of the Holy Week differ each year due to the celebration of Easter, which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter is one of the Catholic liturgical calendar’s "moveable feasts," or celebrations that do not have a fixed date on the Gregorian calendar. Wherever Easter Sunday is on the calendar, the 6 days that precede it make up the Holy Week. :)
Time for Gregorian and Muslim calendar to merge i think. Or everything's not gonna be nice. But with the right key remember.

We are about to enter into a holy time of the year. TODAY beginning at sundown, we will be entering The Feast of Passover! You may be thinking, Sister Jamie, I thought we just celebrated Easter, why is Passover important to us? Let's, look at this together. We here in the Western part of the World go by the Gregorian Calendar. The Jewish Calendar was given to man by God. So, our calendar here in America is different. In the year of 325 AD a Roman Emperor named Constantine was in rulership. He hated the Jews and saw how they were so blessed. He saw how they celebrated all their Feasts and Festivals and he also saw how the people would always be so particularly blessed and prosperous when giving to their God Jehovah at the Feasts. He saw that when the people would give their offerings during these Feasts, it seemed that the people would even become more increased, more favored, and more protected. So Constantine decided to remove the Feasts and create his own calendar of time and he ordered the Jew ...
KNOW THY COUNTRY. This week we are also Celebrating the Mahavir Jayanti and Dr Bhimrao Ambedekar' Jayanti. In Jainism, Mahavir Jayanti, also known as Mahavir Janma Kalyanak, is the most important religious holiday. It celebrates the birth of Mahavira, the last Tirthankara. On the Gregorian calendar, the holiday occurs either in March or April. He was born on the thirteenth day of the rising moon of Chaitra. The chronology accepted by all Jains places Mahavir's birth in 599 BCE. Mahavira was born into royalty as the son of King Siddhartha and Queen Trishala. During pregnancy, Trishala was believed to have had a number of auspicious dreams, all signifying the coming of a great leader. the astrologers that interpreted these dreams claimed that the child would become either an emperor or a Tirthankar. It is said that when Trishala finally gave birth to Mahavira, the god-king Indra bathed the newborn himself with celestial milk, a ritual essentially marking him as a Tirthankar. Amazing naa.!!..How much similar ...

"Take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which Yahweh your Elohim (God) has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage" (Deut.4:19, NKJV).   Red Moons and Who's Awake. A lot of hype is being spread over the internet and in various publications about the supposed prophetic signifance of the appearance of four red blood moons in 2014 and 2015. A couple of days ago I received a letter from a former member who accused me of being asleep because I had written nothing on the subject until today. I am actually more than aware of the phenomenon but I have never received a witness from the Ruach (Spirit) to endorse or write about the interpretations being offered because deep down I have known they were false. HOW TO BECOME FIRST APRIL FOOLS DAY April Fools' Day, sometimes called All Fools' Day, is one of the most light-hearted days of the year. Its origins are uncertain. Some see it as a celebration related to the turn of the seasons, while others believe it stems from the adoption of a new calendar. New Year's Day Moves Ancient cultures, including those of the Romans and Hindus, celebrated New Year'...s Day on or around April 1. It closely follows the vernal equinox (March 20th or March 21st.) In medieval times, much of Europe celebrated March 25, the Feast of Annunciation, as the beginning of the New Year. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII ordered a new calendar (the Gregorian Calendar) to replace the old Julian Calendar. The new calendar called for New Year's Day to be celebrated Jan. 1. That year, France adopted the reformed calendar and shifted New Year's day to Jan. 1. According to a popular explanation, many people either refused to accept the new date, or did not learn about it, and continued to celebrate New ...

Julian Calendar vs Gregorian Calendar and the effects on the celebration of Easter (i.e. the Passover) Extract from the Encyclopedia Americana, Art., Calendar. Having given a description of the Julian Calendar it continues: “This calendar continued in use among the Romans until the fall of the empire, and throughout Christendom till 1582. The festivals of the Christian church were determined by it. With regard to Easter, however, it was necessary to have reference to the course of the moon. The Jews celebrated Easter (i.e., the Passover,) on the 14th of the month Nisan; (or March;) the Christians in the same month, but always on a Sunday. Now, as the Easter of the Christians sometimes coincided with the Passover of the Jews, and it was thought unchristian to celebrate so important a festival at the same time as the Jews did, it was resolved, at the council of Nice, 325 A. D., that, from that time, Easter should be solemnized on the Sunday following the first full-moon after the vernal equinox, which wa ...

2014 is not a Leap Year… but did you know - Julius Caesar introduced Leap Years during the Roman Empire, but the Julian Calendar had only one rule: any year evenly divisible by 4 would be a Leap Year. This lead to way too many Leap Years, but didn't get corrected until the introduction of the Gregorian Calendar more than 1500 years later.
ASTRONOMICAL is a term often used by people to describe something overwhelming or insurmountable. What would you say if I offered you ASTRONOMICAL FACT that verifies the historical fact that the adherents of Scripture have been keeping the seventh day of the week (the day we know as Saturday) for close to 6,000 years??? Both the US Naval Observatory and the Royal Observatory of Britain have concluded, after an ASTRONOMICAL study of the movement of the universe, that there has been no change in the weekly cycle, even after the implementation of the Gregorian Calendar, since the beginning. Interesting, no???
On this date (Feb 24) in the year 1582, Pope Gregory XIII announced the roll-out of the Gregorian Calendar. While this calendar is by no means the only calendar still being used, it is the one that's considered the unofficial 'global standard' - recognized by virtually all international organizations, like the UN, the Red Cross, NATO, etc. Ol' Greg's calendar was designed to correct a gigantic oversight in the Julian Calendar that preceded it. Apparently poor old Julius Caesar (You knew that the Julian Calendar was poor old Julius' baby, right? Of course you did!) was off by 0.002%. I know!!! Thanks to this monumental deficiency in the Roman Empire's ability to detect the length of a year within minutes (it's like they didn't have the iPhone or something!), there was a drift of approximately 3 days every 400 years. I know!!! Ol' Greg had to DO something! You see, way back in 325, the First Council of Nicaea - remember, the little confab where Constantine laid down the law for church folk everywhere - had ...

When the big hand says Thirteen Moon Calendar by Judi McLeod, Canadafreepress.com August 27, 2004 The United Nations, which has a finger in every global pie, and ambitions to take over the World Internet, is inching its way towards calendar reform. Long on lofty words and windy clauses, the official UN description for calendar reform is, "Calendar Reform and the Future of Civilization" (CRFC). Ostensibly, the UN rejected considering calendar reform in 1995 as part of its 50th anniversary. Within four years, UN officials were passing calendar duty over to lifetime activist for peace, Dr. JosÈ Arg¸elles, an originator of Earth Day. Dr. Arguelles’ World Summit on Peace and Time was convened on June 22-27, 1999 at the UN-owned University for Peace, in Costa Rica. Why is the UN itching to change the method by which the world tells time? It’s the Gregorian Calendar. Having replaced the Julian Calendar, the Gregorian was instituted by papal decree in the year AD 1582 and adopted by virtually all nations as ...

WHAT WAS IT? Sir Isaac Newton discovered it in the late 1600's. The Roman Catholic Church discovered it shortly thereafter. William Miller and Samuel Snow discovered it in 1844. Grace Amadon and the Seventh-day Adventist General Conference Research Committee discovered it in 1938. What did they discover? They found that it was impossible to harmonize the "Twelve Criteria" of Yahushua's crucifixion date with the Julian/Gregorian calendar. ("Criteria" – a standard, rule or test on which a judgment or decision can be based.) However, all of them found the Twelve Criteria fit perfectly using the Creator's luni-solar calendar, Yahuwah designed at creation to rule time (see Genesis 1:14-19). The Creator's calendar utilizes the dual action of both sun and moon working together to determine days, weeks, months and years. As a result of this discovery, the Roman Catholic Church applied only five, somewhat skewed criteria, to an altogether different year (A.D.33) of their Julian/Gregorian calendar so they could s ...

Why are there only 28 days in February (29 in a Leap Year)? Apparently because one Roman emperor envied another. The Gregorian calendar is derived from the Julian Calendar in which February was the last month and had 30 days. Emperor Augustus, who gave his name to August, wanted his month to be as long as Julius Caesar's (July, 31 days). So he took a day from the last month of the Julian Calendar and added it to August. The Gregorian calendar later changed the order of the months and February became the second in the year. A year then had 366 days. To make it coincide with one revolution of the earth around the sun (365.24 days), another day had to go. February lost out!

Those of us who are extremely serious about our faith in Messiah Yeshua believe keeping the 7th Day of YHWH to be a fundamental/foundational element in our expression of love toward our Creator and Redeemer, its not to be taken lightly as though to belong to a club or even this group. 31 days ago, we celebrated the Gregorian' New Year. Today I think this is another Happy New Year for all of us from the Chinese calendar.
Happy Chinese Lunar New Year The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. All people living away from home go back, becoming the busiest time for transportation systems of about half a month from the Spring Festival. Airports, railway stations and long-distance bus stations are crowded with home returnees. The Spring Festival falls on the 1st day of the 1st lunar month, often one month later than the Gregorian calendar. It originated in the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600 BC-c. 1100 BC) from the people's sacrifice to gods and ancestors at the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one. Waking up on New Year, everybody dresses up. First they extend greetings to their parents. Then each child will get money as a New Year gift, wrapped up in red paper. People in northern China will eat jiaozi, or dumplings, for breakfast, as they think "jiaozi" in sound means "bidding farewell to the old and ushering in t ...

By Luci Lizares Thursday, January 30, 2014 TO US, Christians and for all who follow the Gregorian calendar, when the clock struck twelve ushering in the New Year in January, we welcomed the year 2014. However, to the Chinese calendar, tomorrow January 31, will be the year 4712. The Chinese New Year is also called the Spring Lantern Festival and regarded as the most important of the Chinese Festivals. Now we know why the tourist district in Lacson Street is covered with lanterns. The celebration lasts 15 days for the traditional Chinese. There are many traditions and customs associated with Chinese New Year. If you haven’t done so, (I have for most parts of my home but not all yet though), families thoroughly clean their house in order to sweep away any ill fortune and to make way for good luck. In addition, every family purchases enough food including fish, meat, roasted nuts and seed, all kinds of candles and fruits for the festival period. The Chinese decorate their w ...

Friday 31 January 2014 Saint John Bosco, Priest (Friday of week 3 of the year) About Today Psalm week: 3. St John Bosco (1815 - 1888) He was born in Piedmont of a peasant family, and he was brought up by his widowed mother. He became a priest, and his particular concern was for the young. He settled in Turin, where, as in so many cities in the 19th century, the industrial revolution was bringing enormous movements of population and consequent social problems, especially for the young men who came there to work. John Bosco devoted himself to the care of the young, first of all by means of evening classes, to which hundreds came, and then by setting up a boarding-house for apprentices, and then workshops for their training and education. Despite many difficulties, caused both by the anti-clerical civil authorities and by the opposition of some senior people within the Church, his enterprise grew, and by 1868 over 800 boys and young men were under his care. Many if not all , but at the least to say most of pagan paths, existed before the Christian Era and before the Gregorian Calendar , in which is a whacking calendar system And most if not all pagan paths hold the importance of the phases of the moon, sun, and the stars. So the question I ponder is this , the four sabbats that are the major sabbats like Imbolc which is in a few days, are governed by this Roman Catholic Gregorian Calendar system that doesn't have a real timing compared to the sun moon and stars . Have we been hoodwinked , I believe our ancestors had a more significant way of marking these sabbats. Blessed Be ☽✪☾
The metro service seems to be run on the Lunar calendar instead of the Gregorian one.
HELLO, END TIME EVENTS ARE IMPORTANT TO ME, & I BELIEVE WE WILL ALL WITNESS MAJOR EVENTS COMING SOON. IF YOU BELEIVE DIFFERENT THAT IS FINE, NOT HERE TO CONVINCE. ANYWAY..during this century tetrads (4 blood moons) occur at least 6 times but what is interesting is that the only string of 4 consecutive blood moons that coincide with God's Holy days of Passover in the spring & the autumn's Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) occurs between 2014 & 2015 on today's Gregorian calendar. The last time that 4 blood red moons occurred together was in 1967 & 1968 tied to 6 days of war & Passover/Sukkot, & to Jerusalem recaptured by Israel. Before 1967, the next time there was 4 blood red moons again was right after Israel became a nation in 1948, & again in 1949, & 1950, all tied to Passover & Sukkot. When checking the schedule for solar eclipses, there are two. One is on the first day of the Hebrew year & the next on the High Holy day of Rosh Hashanah, the first day of the seventh Hebrew month. Both take place in 2014-20 ...

SPOTLIGHT January 29, Anton Chekhov Answer of the Day Did Anton Chekhov make a living as a writer? Anton Chekhov studied medicine and for a few years garnered his primary income from his work as a doctor. Not long after he received his degree, however, he began to write — first short stories, then plays — and was soon making a comfortable living from the literary work that he dearly loved. He said, "Medicine is my lawful wife and literature is my mistress." Born on this date in 1860 according to the Gregorian calendar (he was born on January 17 on the Julian Calendar), Chekhov suffered from tuberculosis for some 20 years, nearly half his life. He died of the disease when he was 44. By then he was a renowned author of such works as The Cherry Orchard, Uncle Vanya, The Seagull and Three Sisters. Quote "Let us learn to appreciate there will be times when the trees will be bare, and look forward to the time when we may pick the fruit." — Anton Chekhov Word of the day hagiography (hag-ee-OG-ruh-fee, hay- ...

Ah! Your birth coincided some years ago with a similar day as today on the Gregorian Calendar!
It's not just R that's utterly insane. SPSS's dates are relative to October 14, 1582 - the beginning of the Gregorian calendar. Because, um.
HISTORY OF IMBOLC Spring is Coming! Imbolc is a holiday with a variety of names, depending on which culture and location you’re looking at. In the Irish Gaelic, it’s called Oimelc, which translates to “ewe’s milk.” It’s a precursor to the end of winter when the ewes are nursing their newly born lambs. Spring and the planting season are right around the corner. The Romans Celebrate: To the Romans, this time of year halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox was the season of the Lupercalia. For them, it was a purification ritual held on February 15, in which a goat was sacrificed and a scourge made of its hide. Thong-clad men ran through the city, whacking people with bits of goat hide. Those who were struck considered themselves fortunate indeed. This is one of the few Roman celebrations that is not associated with a particular temple or deity. Instead, it focuses on the founding of the city of Rome, by twins Romulus and Remus, who were suckled by a she-wolf -- in a cave known ...

Question When is Easter? 190 AD There is evidence that the Church began celebrating Easter at least this early. The big question becomes what date. The Council of Nicea will fix the date in 325. However, the Western church will use the Gregorian Calendar and the East the Julian Calendar. This will be a debated topic for a good amount of time during the early church starting in 189.
Everyone says that today is the thousand two hundredth anniversary of Charlemagne's death. I would say no, because of the Gregorian calendar. The real anniversary should be on February 1st.
Every year I am fooled by the Gregorian calendar into thinking the worst weather month is December. I am wrong. It is now and yet to come.
Times of The End "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world." 1 Peter 5: 8 KJV THESE are easily the most thrilling, exciting, spectacular days to be alive, not just because of breathtaking advances in technology and science, but because for the first time in history we twenty-first-century beleivers in the Lord have more reason than any generation before us to believe that Yeshua or Jesus Christ, as the gentile world knows Him, will return to take us to His Father's house. I find this amazing. The 21st century in accordance with the Gregorian calendar began on January 1, 2001, and will end on December 31, 2100. It is the 1st century of the 3rd millennium.
Time to take some time out - to write about the Schumann resonance, the impact of sun flares on earthly cycles e.g. the stock exchange and terrorism threats, how tides and the elements impact on people's behaviour, the illusion of time which was created to make sense of gravity, a few more things about the Julian and Gregorian calendar that I can add, and how time actually did not originate in Switzerland - but I might be wasting time trying to convince the wrong people ;-)
Dates Definition: Dates mark the time at which events occur. The Bible expresses dates in relation to the lifetime of individuals, the period during which certain rulers were in office, or other notable events. It contains the only complete chronology reaching back to the time of Adam’s creation. Bible chronology also pinpointed in advance the time when certain important events in the fulfillment of God’s purpose would take place. The Gregorian calendar, which is now popular in much of the world, did not come into use until 1582. In secular sources there is disagreement on dates given for events in ancient history. However, certain key dates, such as 539 B.C.E. for the fall of Babylon, and hence 537 B.C.E. for the Jews’ return from captivity, are well established. ( Ezra 1:1-3 ) Using such dates as starting
For the New Year, I will no longer recognize the Gregorian calendar for my personal dates. This calendar is out dated and was formulated without my agreement. From now on I will only recognize the Davorian calendar. My calendar has 600 days per year or 50 days per month all equal. This makes me 38.9 years old. Dogs will be equal to humans. It’s not fair to age them 7 years for each one of ours therefore my dogs are 7.9 years old.. That way I can have my dogs a lot longer. Another thing I have issues with is spelling. Everybody has heard of the program “Hooked on Phonics”. Even the program name has nothing to do with fonics. The accepted way to spell words was not done with my consent, therefore I am simplifying the English langwig with all fonetic spelling. Wen u r retired u no longer haf to conform
OLD- CALENDARISTS OF ROMANIA At 1859, the provinces of Walachia and Moldavia elected Alexandru Ion Cuza as their common prince. The same year saw the organization of the Romanian Orthodox Church as a distinct jurisdiction within the Orthodox Church. At 1861 the two provinces united and were recognized by the sultan as the autonomous Principality of Romania with its capital at Bucharest. In 1881, Romania declared itself a kingdom, and at 1885 the Ecumenical Patriarch recognized the establishment of the Romanian Orthodox Church. At 1924, the Gregorian Calendar was introduced into the Romanian Church by Metropolitan Miron (Cristea) (1868-1939), a former Uniate bishop. This innovation was received without protest by the majority of the Romanian people. However, the Holy Skete of Prokrov in northern Moldavia remained faithful to the church calendar under the leadership of its abbot, Hieromonk Glicherie (Tanase). A few other priests and faithful also refused to recognize the innovation. In 1925, the New Calenda ...

Candlelight Records is proud to announce the signing of Irish hardcore punks Coldwar! Debut Candlelight Records album coming 2014     Equally thrilled by the signing, Coldwar had this to say about it:   “Coldwar are proud to announce that we have signed to Candlelight Records. We are very excited about our future with Candlelight and are honoured to be on a label with such a varied and talented collection of artists.”   Formed in 1999 in Dublin, Ireland, Coldwar are influenced by underground hardcore punk and extreme metal. Pantheists thus do not believe in a personal or anthropomorphic god.   The darkness of the soul, esoteric symbology, natural evil, scrutinization of the ...
